This is a gem out in Maryville and definitely worth the drive from Knoxville. This is the Best Sushi Place around town! It's located right next to Los Amigos in Maryville. It is a Japanese Couple that owns Hana. The man rolling sushi is the owner along with his wife who will most likely be serving you, and their son who seems to be around 10 will be seating you as if he were the hostess. We arrived with a bottle of wine and did not receive a cork charge, which rocked. I ordered a bottle of sake for around $15 to share which was decently price. It was pretty crowded when we arrived here. We sat ourselves at the sushi bar, which I had been told to do, recommended by friends. I would recommend you sit at the sushi bar as well. It took a minute for them to get around to us because they seemed to be a little crowded or understaffed. The sushi man offered us some Crab Salad to start which was really very good. He wanted us to try it since we had not tried it before. That was very generous. We then decided to order some Edamame. I'm always so indecisive when I go to sushi places because there is such a variety of items I never know what to choose. They have a picture book for one of their menu's which was really very helpful. We then asked the sushi man to help us decide. We ended up with a plate of 4 rolls. The rolls were: Superman Roll, Dragon Roll, New York Roll, and the Pink Lady Roll. The Superman Roll was my favorite. The other 3 were also really great. You could tell this place had extremely fresh sushi. The Pink Lady Roll had a pink rice paper around it which was refreshingly creative. I posted some pictures of our food if you would like to check them out. This was my first time dining here. I had tried once before but when I walked in at 8:30 they were closed. Make sure you get here early because when we were finishing our dinner here before 8:00 we were the only ones left in this place. Get here early so you don't feel rushed. You might feel like a customer that would order an early bird special arriving at 5:00 but believe me, you don't actually have to order the early bird special. Just enjoy the sushi and relax. PS It's not overpriced. Isn't that a plus too? I will definitely be making the drive more frequently to Maryville only for this sushi place. I am so happy to have found this place and I'm sure you will be as well. Cheers and Enjoy!

I used to love this place. The sushi was AWESOME not not-at-all overpriced. The past couple visits I made wasn't so good. The owner kept changing the hours to where they'd close at 2:00 or other strange times, so we were asked to end our meal early, or they wouldn't let us have certain drinks because we would come in to eat lunch around 1:00. It was strange, and I'm sad to say that after a couple times of this happening my friends and I stopped returning to this restaurant as of last year (around fall 2012).

Get the Maryville roll. Do it. You'll love it. I do. Which is why I go to Hana's when I can. Good sushi at a decent price, and it's never completely packed.

Hana USED to be good, then they changed hands. The quality of the food went downhill rapidly. The sushi was above average for the area, but after the ownership change, nothing was fresh. The last straw was dinner. I tried hibachi steak and it was burned. I sent it back, and in return got the same dish of food brought back to my table. The last straw was when the only bill I had on me was a $100. The waitress put the bill in her apron and didn't come back for over 20 minutes and then gave me change for a $20! When I complained she got the manager. She insisted I didn't give her a hundred dollar bill. When I told her to empty her apron pocket, there it was. No apology from the manager. I used to be a regular, but I'll never, ever go back!

WOW who would've thought sushi this good on such a out of the normal place. I did the sashimi special and it was excellent. I would definitely recommended this place.

I regard this Japanese restaurant as the standard one in foreign countries. The owner doesnt seem to be Japanese, I think. Sushi tastes good enough, but I didn't like to eat spicy chili source and avogado and soy-source based baste all together.Nira Manju (Pan fried leek & shrimp dumpling) was especially great. These dishes are not of course like in Japan, original place, but good enough to go when I miss Japanese food, because there are not only sushi but also noodle(Udon, Soba) and fried something like Katsu and Tempura.

I have wanted to try Hana Japanese Restaurant and Sushi Bar for a long time. I have come to not expect much by way of sushi in land-locked Tennessee, but I am always a girl with hope. I have tried Lemongrass' sushi three times now, plus once at the Knoxville location, and I left felling unimpressed (and shocked by the prices). I was hoping that Hana would provided me with better prices and at least slightly better quality of sushi. I was wrong. Hands down Hana has the worst sushi that I have found in East Tennessee. Last out of 8. Out of all the sushi I have had in the world, it is next to the worst. Yes, one place in San Francisco still holds that honor. The first was lukewarm and the rolls fell apart. Do I need to say much more than that? You should never serve lukewarm fish and it should not have like fishy of a smell. While sushi amateurs might not think that makes much sense (it is fish, after all), I will tell you that the best sushi does not smell fishy. Now this review only covers the sushi. It is possible that the restaurant has great Japanese cuisine. But I probably won't be back to find out.

Hana is a decent little place with good service. I got the steak and scallop hibachi, and the scallops were pretty tasty. The steak was okay, but a bit over cooked for my liking. We also weren't given knives, so that made it very difficult to eat. The big plus here is price - steak and scallop hibachi dinner was only $10-11. Can't beat that! The negatives are that it's just okay. Steak was so-so, rice was a bit bland and their "salad" was simply lettuce in a bowl. There are better places for Japanese.

Cutest Japanese Restaurant in Maryville. While they don't offer as varied a menu as Anaba, they do supply guests with a photo album of their different sushi offerings which is pretty neat. Their food display has always been great. I do hope they come up with their own vegetarian/ vegan combos soon.

Benn enjoying Hana for years. I always get the spicy scallop roll and the spicy crab roll. They do carry out, too.

I will say their sushi is among the best in Maryville. Now for the bad news...the employees don't seem like they want you there unless you are there for the normal lunch and dinner hours. I have been there several times during the off times and seemed to be rushed or not even looked at at all. But really I can get past that, what I can't get passed is being unsanitary. During the off times they don't have as many people working, not surprising, so one employee was watching the front area, answering phones, processing credit cards and making sushi. Since sushi isn't going to be cooked, it bothers me watching him do everything up front then make my sushi..... at least he had gloves on. The same gloves for everything....didn't change them or wash his hands before making my sushi!! Although I do love the sushi there and the presentation of the sushi is always beautiful I will not be eating there again.

Absolutely terrible service! Me and my girlfriend walked out bc the guy was absolutely disrespectful! He told us to not ask him for anything else and completely yelled at us because we asked for shrimp sauce. He then proceeded to take my license plate number. DO NOT GO HERE

Ahhh, Hana. Hana! By far my favorite sushi. I can't sing the praises of this place enough. First of all, sit at the sushi bar. You'll get a free crab salad thing while the sushi chef prepares your meal. Second, order some of the crazy specialty rolls. They are unique to the place and are delicious. Every time I'm here, the same sushi guy is behind the counter. He's fast and efficient, and I have the feeling that he made up the unique rolls they sell. Service is courteous and the guy behind the sushi counter seems dedicated to his craft. It shows, too- not just in the flavor but in presentation as well. If you're in Knoxville, let me tell you that the drive out to Maryville is worth it. Go to Hana!

We went there, and it was wonderful great service, wonderfully fresh sushi and even good prices. The decor is nice and have relaxing music playing. Their green tea is enjoyable, and it is obvious that they make their food with care. Would strongly recommend!

Hana is my favorite sushi restaurant in Maryville and Knoxville. They have a large selection of sushi rolls, both traditional and some creative ones they have come up with. I really like that they have some rolls with rice paper instead of seaweed. I also love the rolls that have fruit in them like mango and such. Hana is great!! Defiantly recommend eating here.
