Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

The food is okay but the staff could not care less that you are there. Been there a number of times and they certainly have better Mexican food than the other places in town but their service is always lacking.

Food is ok. Staff is unfriendly and when they get your order wrong, make you feel like it's your problem. No thank you on this place. Rude!

Slow service. My son loved the no 8 kids meal...but my beef and cheese nachos didn't have hardly any cheese at all. My husband had the chicken fajita quesadilla and loved it.

We were visiting The area from PA and the food at the restaurant at Natchez Trace State Park where we were staying was so bland that we decided to venture out in the surrounding area in hopes of finding something better... not. We chose Los Portales from the limited selection around us. The staff was very friendly and polite! The food....I have had better at Taco Bell. Yes the retried beans were processed to death and were the color of cement. Bland, bland, bland! Poor quality ingredients makes for a poor meal!

For a chain Mexican restaurant it's not so bad. This store has a pretty nice staff and they really get to know you once you've been there a few times. Their salsa is always great, my drink is always full and the food comes out quickly. Parna especial is my favorite menu item. I always order extra soft tortillas cause two are never enough. Probably one of the better places to eat in town if you don't want another fast food joint!

One of several Los Portales chains that are popping up in the region. Pretty decent and CHEAP Mexican food. I wouldn't necessarily call it authentic and it's not very spicy, but it adds variety to the all American dining options in Lexington, TN. The service is super fast, and the menu has a little cute guide to popular Mexican dishes and how to pronounce them. :) They serve beer but not wine. Apparently wine is considered "liquor" in Lexington.
