I've got to raise the star count on this one. Yes, Whitt's appears to be a chain within central Tennessee, but this is southern BBQ at its best! This location is not glamorous, nor is it big. There are only 12 tables in the place and apparently on Wednesday they have a sandwich special and the line is out the door. The menu is standard BBQ fare (pulled pork, beef, turkey, ribs and chicken), with nothing unique that I could see. I had a pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw and pickles on it (as God said it should be done) and I used a mixture of their BBQ sauce and the vinegar "sauce". Yum yum yum. It was so good I had to have another. And at $2.75, why not!?! I think the other review must have just caught them on a bad day. One sign that this place is good is the number of locals who either come in to get take-out, or the fact that they drive-through window was as busy as any McD's I've seen! p.s. this is not a quick stop right off I-40. It is North on US-231 about 2 miles, but well worth the drive.

If you aren't aware of Whitt's amazing barbecue, you are seriously missing out. It is delicious. My experience with my children today was amazing. These people are incredibly kind. The lady who took our order rang it up differently than I ordered it just so I would have a cheaper bill. The lady then told us that she was leaving for the day and that if we needed anything, one of the boys who were working would take care of us. Boy, did they. These are young boys about high school age.. but these are the kind of kids you want your children to be like when they grow up. Kind, courteous, helpful. Yes, Ma'am, No Ma'am. Such manners. They are all so grown up and are doing an amazing job of representing their company. Whitt's was amazing to my family today. Thank you, guys!!

I really wanted to like it more than I did...Doesn't hold a candle to the BBQ I've had in other parts of the country, especially Virginia and Pierce's!!! Not a fan.

While driving across country we stopped in Lebanon, TN and decided to try Whitt's BBQ thinking it looked like a good local barbecue shop. The service was great. Fast, friendly, and with a smile. Also, great prices. However, the food was subpar. We both got the pulled pork, so maybe they have another specialty, but it tasted like the pork was just boiled and salted. Their sauce was really good but you can't soak poorly done meat in great sauce and expect it to taste good. Overall we were very dissapointed with the food.

good service. However, the BBQ left a lot to be desired. Being from Texas where BBQ is an art, I was expecting something good. What I received was rump roast pulled beef...pulled pork , ok but PULLED BEEF? If I had wanted chopped beef....you get the point. Also, no smoky flavor at all. Then I also got the pork ribs. They were a St Louis style rib. They had a stale taste and again no smoky flavor. I left about half of each meat cause they weren't that good. By the time I got to Knoxville I had to get a room for the night cause my stomach was doing flip flops from one of the meats...I think it was the ribs. If you try Whitts I hope you have a better experience than I did.
