Excellent meat and three. Great place to stop when heading east from Nashville. Every element from the building to the menu meets the bill and the prices seem out of the past too. My waitress was the best. Like have a meal at Grandma's kitchen table. Broasted chicken and fried okra was top notch. I don't understand the reviews complimenting the Mac and Cheese. Not only forgettable, I didn't even finish them. The cornbread muffins were good.

Hands down the best meat and three anywhere around. If you live within driving distance and haven't been here you are missing out. Go on a Thursday for the best fried pork chops you will find

Down home fresh cooking for a great price and very nice staff!! A local favorite! Best salads in town. This meat and three has a large menu and service with a smile.

I'm not sure I've ever eaten in a restaurant with so many grossly overweight customers. Must mean the food is exceptional. Because of the overly hefty patrons, I chose a chef salad. Nice, friendly servers, quick & efficient. I'll come back for breakfast.

This is my husband's favorite restaurant when we are in the area..I love it too..but its his favorite..He has said time after time, if he had to request a last meal..it would be from this restaurant. We stopped in this evening. I opted to go for the Liver and Onions, with Mashed Potatoes, Green Beans and Lima Beans with Rolls..Tony went with the Sirloin Roast Beef with Gravy, Mashed Potatoes, Fried Okra and Mac n' Cheese with rolls and butter..and we both enjoyed the Sweet tea...I love the food and the waitresses are so fast and so friendly.. I can't wait to go again!!!

Great meat & three! This is the place to go for some home cooking. The restaurant itself is definitely dated, but I think that's part of the charm. The service was good. I never had to ask for a refill on my drink (and the sweet tea was great - sweet but not too sweet!), and if I asked for something, my waitress came right back with it. I had the broasted chicken, turnip greens, macaroni & cheese, and creamed corn. It came with two delicious cornbread muffins and butter too. I don't usually like chicken on the bone, but this was some seriously tasty chicken. Not too greasy and full of flavor. Even better than the chicken though were all of the sides. Turnip greens were served with vinegar, and with the cornbread it was the perfect combination. The mac and cheese was creamy and cheesy. The creamed corn was sweet and so yummy. My only complaint is that I got too full for dessert!!

Excellent food and service! Their water is filtered, has a great taste. Other restaurants in the area don't filter the water and it tastes terrible. The tomatoes are delicious. Stayed a long weekend up the street and ate here everyday, even twice one day!

If you are in Lebanon, TN and like a meat and 3, you MUST stop here!!

I'm not a fan of this place. I've been twice and both times I thought the food was OK. Everytime I mention to someone that I don't like this place I get crazy looks and the HOW CAN YOU NOT LIKE IT. I think the food is ok, nothing special. I've tried the country fried steak and the roast beef. I'm just not impressed with this place.

It's a gem between White Castle and Chik Fil A. Darn good country cooking. Wait staff very friendly.

The best meat and three country cooking in Lebanon

I had country ham overload! It was a great meal. Bread was a little dry. Otherwise it was a great choice. Wife had the chicken, it was excellent!

Bean stew was eh. Cornbread was stale or just over cooked. Chef salad had the chewiest bacon I've ever had and I think just a half or one whole egg. Three stars because the coconut cream and the banana cream pie were good (needed more wafers). I'm not sure how this place has received so many high reviews. I relied on them and we were both disappointed.

I had the boasted chicken and it was ok. The coleslaw and mashed potato sides were good the beans were just ok. The waitress was very good and friendly. The value is excellent if looking for an affordable good meal. I also had the praline pie for dessert and that was super.

Great hometown place and feel. We were wondering why it's always packed and now we know why. The meat plus three choices are phenomenal. Great waitstaff. Food is absolutely fresh!!! We will be back!

I'd like to say that the reason I like this place is strictly for the people watching opportunity ... you know, This place is better than the airport. Complete with plenty of country folk of all shapes and sizes who love to share stories and are not ashamed to wear those stories on their faces. I'd like say that the reason I like this place so much is that it reminds me of my childhood. Consider the plush vinyl booth seating at the front door, and the 1974 wooden paneling, along with the framed, worn out newspaper articles on the wall among other things The reality is that the reason this place is sooooo dern good is because the food is pretty awesome. Starting with the hungry man's plate (aka meat and three). the Broasted chicken is pretty classic and about the best there is anywhere around these parts, but what makes the food so special is the quality of the sides. I've had just about every single one of them - they are all worthy of the phrase, "You know I really don't like (insert food name here) but this is really good.." . I had that epiphany while chewing on one of my least fav vegetables - collard greens. Now there are some misses here (I would venture to say that the mashed potatoes are not freshly prepared) but there are so many good things on this menu that it's hard not to appreciate everything as a whole. For one, the brown gravy is transformational. It will literally change your life. The creamed corn and mac and cheese are not only from another era - they are from another world. The biscuits and cornbread are good enough to ask for seconds in order to sneak them out in Mamas purse along with the salt and pepper shaker. (Or you could ask for one of them flag draped to-go boxes like everyone else). While Sunset is famous for its roast beef I wouldn't dare write a review having not mentioned the Coconut cream pie! mile-high meringue mystically floats over creamy goodness referred to as coconut cream. And the crust! OH! {Excuse me for a minute...}. If there is any advice I can give it's this - save room for dessert and don't forget the insulin pen at home. Every time I dine here it's fun to watch the waitresses shuffle from table to kitchen with precision even though half of them would easily pass as my grandmother. They've done this a thousand times and it shows. The Sunset restaurant is a place you might see on the Food Network or The Travel Channel if weren't so off the beaten path. It's like stepping off the train at the Petticoat Junction and walking into the Shady Rest Hotel in Technicolor. I'd love to say that the Sunset is a hidden secret but plenty of people know about it and on a busy Friday night you will end up waiting for a table. But it's well worth the wait, and the drive for a friendly, comfortable environment and real food made by real people. If you're in Nashville for a short spell there are only a handful of great Southern restaurants - In my book, the Sunset Restaurant in Lebanon ranks on my first three fingers. God Bless America and The Sunset Restaurant!

Perfect family owner place to enjoy a very good meal after driving from New York to Texas. Friendly service, very reasonably priced and the chocolate pie was the bomb!
