The Emerald Thai Restaurant Menu

It is still the BEST restaurant for Thai food. The change in location has not changed anything except the menu card design, restaurant size and the distance. You can try anything from menu. Almost everything tastes wonderful. My favorites: 1.) papaya pog pog (salad): Ask them to make it thai hot with fish sauce. It is awesomely hot and you will need thai tea to get rid of that heat. But it feels great to eat that. You can get it with medium hot or mild (but this is not as fun as Thai hot) 2.) Tofu Pad prik 3.) Chicken satay 4.) Kao pun noodles 5.) Kao Soi 6.) Sticky rice with mango (dessert) 7.)Pineapple fired rice You MUST go here to eat VERY GOOD Thai food.

Best. Thai. Ever. I was in town just for the weekend and I'm so happy this was one of the places I visited. I want to go back even though its 9 hours from where I live just for this place! I had the Kao Soi Noodle and it was perfection!!! Large portion, just the right amount of flavor and spice, came with gret crispy noodles. It is definitely one of the best Thai places I've ever been. Love Love Love Love Love

I was going to give this 2 stars, but all the other reviews convinced me to cut them some slack. First its very casual and reasonably priced. The service was average for Memphis. I only got 2 curries, both were not very good at all. It was more of a thick Indian curry then a typical US style Thai curry. It seemed lacking in most every way and overly seasoned (meaning too salty, nothing to do with spices) I desperately wanted this place to be decent, but it wasn't. IF you are new to Memphis or want fast good food this isn't your place. If you have live in Memphis for a while then the service and food is average. Its highly possible they were just off when I went there, maybe the cook was sick. Everyone else seems to love the place so try it yourself. Its sad all of my favorite Thai places have closed. All I care about is good curry, which I can't seem to master at home. I hope something good opens up in the cordova area soon. I ate here about 4 pm on a saturday. in February

I have traveled the world for Thai food. We now have a winner. This is, hands down, the worst I have ever had. The Pad Thai - a simple dish hard to mess up - had the taste and consistency of a bowl of Spaghetti-o's. Seriously. I think they put spaghetti sauce on it. Disgusting and inedible. My daughter tried this place on another visit and was left unimpressed with their curry.

Great Tom Yum. Ok fresh spring rolls-peanut sauce to oily. Sad spicy veggie fry. The vegetables were cut to small, I swear it almost taste like Birdseye blend or green giant mix. Flavor was good-I ask for native Thai-came out medium heat...just okay. I was traveling through so ok in a pinch..

The SPICIEST papaya salad that I've ever had. And not the kind of spicy where it's so good that you just keep eating: the kind of spicy where you actually have to stop to drink water, order a Thai iced tea, or chew on ice to get rid of the burn just so that you can continue enjoying it. It was unbelievable that I could enjoy that much spice, but I did. If you want to take on this self-proposed food challenge, you can opt out of the fish sauce that's included. Authentic Thai place run by authentic Thai serving great authentic food.

Wonderful food! If you order the fried rice ask for them to make it spicy though. I forgot. Ordered that and the spring roll and it was delish. Also ordered the mango sticky rice for dessert and it was the best I've ever had. Defo worth checking out!! I'll be back asap!

I ordered carry out for a quick dinner when my husband came home. He worked until after 9 pm. Loved the papaya salad, chicken tom kha and panang curry. Can't wait to eat in. Friendly service and great food. Note: if ordering a carry out take a sharpie to mark contents as all the coconut milk curries look alike.

2nd worst Thai food place I've ever been to. Thai Spring Rolls ok....I'd eat them again. Place needs deep cleaning. Table cloth had old dry food on it. Waitress was kind...but never checked on us to see if it was good, etc. Husband had Pad Thai and he said it was ok...but wouldn't eat it again. Overall....NOT good. Had to go get a flavored coffee to get taste out of mouth. Ps...no lunch menu so pay full price for food you'll have to throw away!

I came here today for lunch with a friend for an experience of authentic Thai food. This place is definitely authentic! Their red curry is so unlike what I'm used to from Bangkok Alley that it took me a while to get accustomed to it. But it reminded me of what I had eaten at my first authentic place a year or so ago, so I did like it. Notes; ~ They are still open between 2 and 5 when most other Thai places are closed. ~ Curry is cheaper here than at other places. ~ Awesome vegetarian options Love: Thai Spring Rolls Like: Red Curry Meh: Spicy Orange Chicken Want to try: Emerald Curry Golden Curry Panang Curry Chicken Pad Thai

My wife told me about this Thai place on a whim. I had never heard of it, so I was curious as to what it would be like. When we pulled into the shopping strip, I noticed that the place was located in an area between a nail shop and another establishment. Entering the doors, I was surprised to find that there were no other patrons, except for the servers who were at a booth. Our ordering was quick, but the wait was long. Slowly, the other seats were being occupied by other restaurant goers. I ordered the Emerald Curry. My wife ordered the Pad Thai. For drinks, I had a sweet tea. She just got water. The tea was delicious. It was sweet, but the sweetness was just perfect. Also, their glasses, which are the preferable plastic, are large. Less refills for me! When they brought out the food, I was surprised at the amount they gave. Their containers that housed the rice and curry looked small, but when I rationed it on my meal plate, I was truly able to experience the amount that they give! By far this place has given the most for food portion than any other Thai place I have eaten! The curry tasted good, but I have had better. I tasted the pad thai though, and it was some of the best tasting pad thai I have had! Try this place out. The food makes up for their other shortcomings.

The service here sucks. I wish there was a better way to describe it. My wife and I stopped in here for lunch and immediately upon entering it reeked of mothballs. That should have been our first clue, but we figured it must have been some sort of cleaning agent and the place appeared clean so we sat down. We were shown the lunch menu as well as he regular menu. Surprisingly, Pad Thai is not a lunch special despite being one of the most popular Thai dishes. We were told it was due to cost. We ordered a chicken satay and 2 beef pad thai's. We waited 15 minutes, and the waitress said our Pad Thai would be right out. We asked about our chicken satay appetizer, and she said that will be another 20 minutes. Say what?!? I politely informed the waitress that we wanted the satay first, and I was told the grill was slow. So she told us she would bring it out later. I asked to cancel the satay order. Our Pad Thai was delivered shortly thereafter, and it was nothing to write home about. I am not sure why Memphis cannot seem to have a good Thai Restaurant. Most of the pad thai in this city is too dry, and the rest either lack sufficient flavor or just tastes like the sauce was gooped on the noodles as opposed to carefully sautéed. We will not return to this restaurant.

Tom Yum soup is one of my favorite things to eat on the planet. Emerald makes a spectacular one. It is super spicy and perfectly balanced. While there, also get one of their curries. If you feel like walking on the wild side, tell them you like things extra spicy. Fair warning, when they say extra spicy they don't mean your typical extra spicy. They mean nose running, face sweating, can barely breathe spicy. In other words, amazing. They have a lot of other great things on their menu, but if you get the Tom Yum and an extra spicy curry, you will not leave hungry I guarantee it.

Fantastic! Exactly what I was expecting from a Thai restaurant. A little dirty looking! Kidding! It was just dark in there and it is not dirty at all! Good was spicy, smells of herbs were captivating! Staffs extremely friendly! I've been to Thailand before and this place is the closest thing I can find that resemble and match with thailands friendliness. Food was great!

i finally got to try the new location since every time i go its always packed and no seating is available. Nestled right off the Exit 18 on 64, its a small location in a strip compared to their original location for over a decade already. From what i saw they can seat around 40-50 ppl i believe. Feels very cozy when theres not alot of ppl and can be claustrophobic when its packed. I had the homemade chicken noodle soup today and it was good. fresh thick noodles with pulled chicken meat garnished with hints of thinly sliced ginger, friend garlic and onions and celery. This is the ultimate noodle dish like Pho for vietnamese restaurants in my opinion and is very popular btwn Laos and Thai folks. I plan to try their curry with crab and shrimp next time which i've had at their old location and miss it dearly.

After hearing amazing raves from Srishti, I finally made the trek to Lakeland with her and the husbands and I'm glad I did! The food was spicy, flavorful and delicious, everything I could ever want! We started with veg fried wontons and Tod Mon. Both were great, can't go wrong with anything fried. The star of the night was definitely the Tom Kha Kai soup. We asked for it vegetarian and the waitress said that so many Indians ask for veg that they actually created another soup called Tony soup. You need to order this!! It has the same spicy coconut milk base but has tons of delicious chopped veggies as well. It was perfect, filling and I didn't miss the chicken. We ordered the small and it was more than enough for 5 hungry people. We also ordered Emerald curry and Red curry, both were incredibly satisfying. The portions are large, service was attentive and the food was memorable. Can't wait to go back!!

I have been coming to the Emerald Thai for decades now. It used to be on Mt Moriah rd. I can't say for sure how authentic it is but it sure is good. I can't name a dish that I've had that was bad. If you don't know the food just ask your sever to help you and more than likely you will be happy. I live far enough away that I don't get to eat here as often as I'd like and that sucks. Jalapeño chicken, Thom Kha Kha, any of the curries, fried rice, it's all good!

The unassuming interior should not fool you; the food here is very good. The seasoning, based on my experiences, is spot on and the prices are very reasonable. We've done more takeout than eating in, but when we have eaten in we felt pretty comfortable and while the waitstaff were not hovering over us we were certainly not ignored.

My wife has tried to get me to go here since it moved to Lakeland last year. Finally I've relented and in the past month we've went 3 times. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is cozy, and the owner & employees are very friendly. The Thai spring rolls are delicious and any of the pad thai dishes are excellent. But to really get a taste of authentic Thai, try the guy tiew. It's a soup with vermicelli noodles that is to die for. Makes me miss my mom's cooking, for sure. My only complaint is the bear selection is pretty sparse. Singha is usually available, and Chang (which is much better) is hardly ever in stock. This is by no means the restaurant's fault. But sometimes you want more than just a lemon water with your asian, if you know what I mean. Stop in and say 'Saw Wat Dee' get some good Thai cooking

I've tried the red curry, emerald curry, pepper steak, and spring rolls and all of it was really bad. The meat smelled like wet dog and curry had no flavor and way too much salt. The customer was bad. Our waitress looked confused every time we asked a question and snatched the too receipt soon as I was done and looked at how much I left her! I don't know how they have 4 stars.

My experience at The Emerald Thai Restaurant was equally as underwhelming as my experience at Noodle Star Restaurant in Bartlett. I don't know what it is about Thai Restaurants in the Memphis region, but I am 0 for 2 on dining experiences. Admittedly, I am not an expert on Thai food, and only ever get one or two offerings -- so my palate is certainly not as diversified as other diners in this particular cuisine; but regardless, this fell waaaay short for me. Food: I am a serious Pad Thai fan. Meaning, when I go to a Thai Restaurant, that is what I order. As such, I have had Pad Thai (literally) hundreds of times. I did not enjoy this one at all. In the past, the aspects of Pad Thai that I have loved the most were its consistency, flavor, and freshness. At Emerald Thai, for me, the noodles seemed dry and clumpy like there was far too little sauce. The delicious peanuty flavor that I love was nearly non-existent. It was a lot more subtle of a flavor than I like. Worst, the chicken ( and I know chicken!) was dry as a bone. It literally tasted like Pad Thai that had been reheated in the microwave. Those who I dined with were also disappointed in their meals. They had the Pad Khing and the Pad See Elw (I believe). Both of those dishes came out much better 'dressed' than my heaping pile of under-sauced noodles, but they said that the flavor was not good. They followed that up by saying the flavor wasn't bad either, but that it was something they could recreate in their own kitchen buying bottled ingredients from the International Section at the grocery store. I agree with that analysis. One of those who I dined with lives in NYC and regularly eats Thai, and I trust her opinion of the cuisine. On a high-note, the Fresh Spring Rolls were excellent with the Plum Sauce. Extremely fresh, bright flavors accentuated with a lovely and subtle plum sauce that heightened the overall flavor of the meal. I would consider coming back for these, but since I can get a good Fresh Spring Roll anywhere, I would likely opt to go somewhere that I at least sort-of enjoy the other food as well. Food: 2 / 5 Service: Service was friendly, but hurried. Admittedly, I have never received particular outstanding service at a Thai restaurant, so it may be just the way service is. I felt less like a person here, and more like just another customer. I like to feel some sort of connection / appreciation for choosing their restaurant over the hundreds of others in a 10 mile radius. I didn't feel very valued, and I don't dine where I feel like 'just another customer'. Service: 2 / 5 Atmosphere: The atmosphere to me was drab, bland, uninspired, and a little dreary. Despite that, it was clean and smelled great -- which is something very important to me. Atmosphere: 3 / 5 Price: For what I got, which was food I didn't really enjoy and service that was underwhelming -- I don't believe that I got my money's worth. This disappoints me. Price: 2 / 5 Final Thoughts: Like I alluded to in my introduction, I am now 0 for 2 at two very highly rated Thai restaurants in the Memphis region. Maybe I have been eating a different style of Thai food my whole life, or maybe I do not know what Thai food is, or maybe I have been ordering the wrong thing when I go out for Thai; but I never had this problem in San Antonio or Central NY. Regardless, I would not return here, and will likely refrain from dining at any other Thai restaurants in the Memphis area, indefinitely.

We came in one weekend when they first opened at the new location in Cordova, we ordered the Pad thai and the Pad Khing, amazing! We came back the next weekend and got Panang curry and Pad Kaprao. We were so happy with the food, service, and cost. Wonderful experience, we will come back soon!

I've been here twice now. It's always incredible. If I had a complaint it'd be that the spicy curry dishes aren't available on their lunchtime special menu. But no worries, you can always order off the dinner menu even during lunch. Consistently some of the best Thai food in Memphis.

A great little restaurant. Go and go hungry. But don't go if you're in a hurry. The prices are very reasonable and I really loved the food. The service....well... not so much. I went for lunch with family and even though there were just a couple of other occupied tables, it took forever for our food to come out. I will say it was definitely worth the wait, but I was glad I didn't have anywhere I had to be. The spring rolls were excellent and very fresh, and I simply LOVED the soup. The prices were very reasonable too. I plan to go back for dinner soon, and will take a bottle of wine with me. They don't serve alcohol so it's BYOB, I"m all for that though since it's a great way to save a few bucks. And at least I can sip on some nice vino while I settle in for the long wait. Cheers!

The food is delicious. I got the Steamed Dumplings and the Pad Prik with chicken. Both were very good and appropriately spicy. Note if you order something hot here, it will be hot. The one thing that keeps them from a 5 star review is the speed of service. I understand waiting for good food, but we had to wait 15 minutes to order our food. I watched one couple next to us give up and walk out. We were nearly at that point ourselves when she took our order. Overall I'd recommend them for good Thai good. Just wish they would have some more staff to help customers more efficiently.

I am kinda of a Thai food snob. I eat at a lot of Thai restaurants and cook it all of the time at home. I came here because it was close to my hotel. The garden rolls were good. The Tom Yum not so much. It had too much of a tomato taste and the mushrooms were not cooked. Then my red curry was grainy and the flavor was off. Meh.

Fantastic food and service! We stopped in while traveling and all shared our dishes and many couldn't decide which was the best. Highly recommend this restaurant! We wish they were closer to home.

I had heard some amazing reviews about this place. So we decided to drive 20 miles for dinner. We were a group of five and everyone wanted to eat just vegetarian food that day( one of those rare occasions ). We tarted with veg Thai spring rolls an veg wontons. They were vey good. The wontons were like indian peas corn and cheese samosas. The plum sauce and chili paste were good too. I ordered the Thai ice tea which was very refreshing. Loved it. Them we ordered some vegetarian Tom Kha soup. It was hands down the show stealer, just so awesome. A friend of mine who once ate some amazing Thai food in California said the Tom Kha soup at Emerald was as good or even better. We all just loved it. Then we ordered one massaman curry and one spicy vegetarian fried rice. Both the dishes were very tasty. We gulped everything down. I was really keen on trying the papaya salad. That was the only thig that we were not a fan of. I had high hopes from the salad given all the amazing reviews. But overall it was an amazing experience. My husband says we will be back within a week or two to try their green curry. I would love to try their chicken satay and some appetizer with chicken patties. Our waitress told us that those two appetizers were pretty popular. I just can't wait to go back to Emerald Thai. I love going to family run places. They usually have pretty authentic food :)

The food gods were smiling upon me when Emerald Thai opened up near my house!! I saw this past Friday that the long anticipated (at least by me) reopening of Emerald Thai had come to fruition. I felt a twinge of regret that I was on my way out of town, but resolved that Monday, by goodness, I would feast. And feast we did. We got an order of steamed dumplings and two lunch specials - Thai fried rice and Chicken Pad Prik (spicy red curry with onions and peppers). Lunch specials are all $7.50, served with steamed rice and come with your choice of soup (Tom Yum or Tom Kha) or fried spring roll. I got the Tom Kha, my daughter got the spring roll. Everything was just as tasty as I remembered them to be! As one would expect, inside is spartan, but very clean. Service was great and everyone was very friendly. If you'd like a glass of wine with your meal, bring your own - just a $5 service charge. Now, if you'll excuse me, I feel a nap coming on!

This was a nice change of pace! We stopped in at 7:00 pm and the place was full - always a good sign! We ordered the dumplings, which had great flavor. The dumplings are not traditional dumplings, but rather stuffed wanton pockets. I order one of the thick noodle dishes with chicken, which was fantastic - all kinds of flavor oozing out of it! My wife ordered one of the chicken curry dishes and it was good to! We also ordered the fried rice which was a little spicey! The whole reason we went was because of the reviews, and they were spot on!

Very good! I'm a harsh judge since our last duty station was Hawaii and they gave authentic stuff, but I was impressed and will go again. Pad Thai is yummy

Only in for lunch late last week but for the quality, authenticity, and price of my Pad Prik and the Tom Yum Hed this place can't be beat. My friends had the thai fried rice and a beef with ginger dish- everyone raved about it. Being new to the area myself, this place is a welcome addition and a far better deal than the highly touted Bhan Thai in Midtown. Of course you lose the decor and ambiance but for homestyle Thai dishes, you can't beat 'em.

My husband can't have enough of their phad thai. I tried to order different stuff each time. They haven't failed me so far! The place is a lot smaller than where they used to be. Very busy when we arrived. The staff is very accomendating and friendly. Definitely a good eat!

So good! I had the thai spring rolls and mixed the sauce they give you with the spicy chili sauce on the table. I also had the red curry and got extra veggies instead of meat, it was delicious. The veggies were perfectly cooked and the curry was light and flavorful. I will definitely come back next time I'm around.

Excellent Thai food-- a hidden gem (no pun intended). Love their curry sauces. Their fried chicken wings are amazing-- they taste skillet fried. Friendly service. Their pad thai is not my favorite, but it is still good and everything else is delicious. Great service and lunch specials.
