I used to love this place. Close by and good prices. However, I had not been there in a while. Finally went and I was not impressed. My son loves tacos but he didnt even want to finish his. I tasted it and the beef seemed to be bad quality-too minced and not flavored right. Mostly salty. The cheese dip was so runny it wasn't even funny. I couldn't get it to stay on my chip. This doesn't mean I won't go again. I think they were all Into a game on TV. Mostly men work there. Maybe it was just that day. Use Adobo & some garlic powder (lol) on your meat and dont overdo it. Hasta la proxima. :)

The chips were fresh and crispy. The salsa has a very unique flavor for a typical mexican restaurant. The soda there is the best I have had in a long time....so bubbly and perfect. The "cheese dip" was delicious. I had beef tacos which are hard to mess up and we also had tacos al pastor. There seems to be only a few places in town to get yummy al pastor and its better than senor taco. Beans and rice were flavorless! They have a couple of different things on the menu that are supposed to be more "authentic" or "california style". I think they are just dressed up versions of regular menu items. If you want cheap mexican and you find yourself in the waste-land of deep south knoxville, this is a solid choice. The decor is atrocious (I think i was sitting next to a giant apple) and the overall vibe of the place is a little creepy but the food, service, and prices are good.

Used to eat here often, just don't find myself craving Mexican food as much lately. That being said, Pancho's is great. They have a vegetarian chimichanga that is great and my wife always gets the cheese dip. They've been a South Knoxville staple for a decade for good reason!

NASTY. Me and my 2 friends ate here. I ordered a quesadilla which came out looking like a turnover. It was disgusting and our waitress was awful. We waited 15 minutes for our drinks and about 45 minutes for our food, which came out at 3 different times. Now we all have food poisoning and feel sick to our stomachs. Never again. Like ever.

Rubbery, tasteless meat is what you can expect here. Don't waste your time and money.

We ate at Pancho's last Sunday. The food, services and prices were great. We ate outside and had a great time. We'll definitely go back.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
