Average sushi but extremely nice sushi chefs. Half price sushi on most weekdays.

Stopped in here by chance on Saturday afternoon for the first time. Wanted sushi, so was seated in the sushi bar area. The staff was all very nice. Seems like the hibachi is the big thing at this place...they were doing a brisk business in that area. Here's what we ordered: 1. Fried calamari. This was quite good and different from most restaurants. Actual legs of calamari, tempura fried so that they were just right, very light batter, still a little chewy. Really good. No sauce of any kind although the server offered to bring Ponzu sauce. 2. Onigiligino. The sushi chef was new and looks like he called in the manager or owner to make this dish. It was basically a big scoop of rice with some sushi fish and shrimp laid on top and tempura flakes and sauce. It was bland and mostly rice and a huge disappointment, especially for $16. 3. Red dragon roll & Green dragon roll. The spicy roll had a decent flavor, but both rolls contained a paltry amount of fish. Wifey had a bottle of Ozeki sake and I had a Kirin draft (yay!). Overall impression: I would probably eat the half-price sushi here anytime. But it's nowhere near worth full price. For a total bill of $60 including tip, I left hungry and unimpressed.

An entire piña colada was dropped all over my friend...no manager came by...no special treatment. A beer bottle was dropped on the head of another guest with us...nothing again. This after waiting over an hour for seating we'd called ahead for a week in advance. Oh and they brought out boxes for food...one of which had writing on it from a previous table. Get Hibachi factory and save yourself the overpriced experience you'll wish you could forget.

Save-your-money!!! We walked in at 2:53 and were greeted by a really quiet unfriendly host and waited several minutes for a table; it all went downhill from there. I only eat seafood so I asked if I could do just a smaller portion of shrimp; my husband even asked if I could do the chicken and shrimp and he could just have my chicken, and she said I would have to order the shimp dinner which was $20. I told her I would just have a miso soup, a salad and a crunchy shrimp roll. The miso soup was very salty and my husbands soup that came with his dinner was a small bowl of broth with ONE mushroom in it. then my sushi roll came (which I ordered as my meal) so I let it sit there for a few minutes and then the salads came out. I asked the server for some spicy mayo and she said she would get it from the bar, she never came back with it. Our hibachi chef didnt start cooking until about 3:30 but he was very friendly and he was nice enough to give me the left over rice and veggies (a really small amount but a very nice gesture) . Very over priced, we were there over an hour, very unaccomodating, and my meal was about $12 and I left far from full, so we will not be back.

As usual ... The hubby and I were looking to eat somewhere we have never eaten before. You would think we would run out of places, but nope! There are hidden gems in Knoxville, you just have to find them. This was not necessarily a hidden gem, per say, more like hidden, but it was new to us! The restaurant was half full and it was only 6pm on a Saturday. That's a good sign. The restaurant was half full of every person in Knoxville who seemed to weigh over 200 pounds, that's a sign. The restaurant was half full of small children, running in and out of the wait staff, without so much as an excuse me, screaming, "more ice cream" whilst their overly full and bouncing bellies jiggled. Now, we aren't judgmental people by any means, but these above statements are true, and my husband nearly was thrown off balance by one of these screaming tots whose parents were so in to their 4/5 plate of food still stacked on the table, they didn't care what or where their children were. This doesn't speak ill of the establishments food, just a major observation. We were seated quickly, told to order off the sushi menu if we wanted sushi. It was still all you can eat but the rolls were made to order. Nice. We both liked that! The beers were very cold, not expected and very well priced. We ordered sushi and headed to the line at the buffet. It was cleaned out. Seriously. It seemed as if the staff was working overtime to cook the food. One lady took all the crab legs as soon as the man put them out - all of them. Had to be 2 pounds there. We went On over to the cook and wait section. I ordered shrimp and veggies and my husband ordered steak and veggies. Less than 4 minutes. Both were good. Same quality you get at any Japanese/Chinese eatery. I went back for the buffet and finally got to try some fried frog legs. Best seasoning I have ever had for frog legs. The rice was ok, drink chicken wasn't anything to write home about and the salad bar was fresh. For $17.50 a person..... I will say that I won't be back. Not because the food was bad, but for $20 I can go to a quiet or more upscale place and have the exact same meal. If you are looking to just gorge yourself - this is your place.

Terribe sushi, wilted fishy seaweed, and bad japanese food, but the chinese food and soups were great. So go for the chinese dishes and the thai soup, but stay away from all else!

This Japanese steakhouse is better than most but it was not anything spectacular. The food was okay. There were 7 in our group and each of us tried the shrimp, chicken, and steak. The steak was good. However the shrimp was overcooked. The rice and vegetables were average. The best part of these meals is the size of the portions. There was enough food to last 3 meals. There is an early bird special between 4 and 6 pm that gives about 4 dollars off the standard price for the dinners. While I did not try the sushi collection, they do have a wide variety of rolls to choose from.

In my opinion the food was cheap quality compared to others. For the price you can get better quality elsewhere. Shrimp are small but you can order the jumbo shrimp for $6.00 extra according to our waitress. It does have a very neat seating area near the grill. Probably would not be my first pick for Japanese food.

I had been craving hibachi for days, so my fiancé picked this place. Let me just say that Misaki hit the spot! I ordered the hibachi chicken meal, and my date had the hibachi steak and a roll of sushi. Everything measured up with those places that are more costly. The only reason I am giving this restaurant 4 stars instead of 5 is the ginger sauce they use. This is normally the part I look forward to most at a Japanese steakhouse - a salad with ginger sauce. Their ginger sauce is too mustardy for me, so I won't be ordering that sauce again. Overall, the food was delicious, and we will be eating there again soon. The leftovers might have even been better the next day!

It was one of the worst sushi experiences I have ever had. I would not recommend the sushi to anyone. The rolls were bland and the sashimi was not fresh. Also, the portions were really small and overpriced. The only dish that I enjoyed was the yellow tail cheek. That dish saved the review from getting an one star rating.

Ate there a couple weeks ago. Sushi bar was noisy. It's a small area and the noise was enough to get under your skin. Food was over priced and just ok for Asian food. The sushi was a little over priced but tasted ok. I got the teriyaki chicken. I felt like I needed to check my blood sugar after eating.

Old fashion hibachi grill. Not bad of a joint and you receive a lot of food. just wish they would update their chairs and design in side. If the refurbished the place i'd give it a 5

This place is cheap, and that's why I go. Sushi is completely half off Monday-Thursday if you eat at the sushi bar. Many of the rolls are already under $10, so you really can't beat that. This place has hibachi grills as well and the food is fair. All around if you want hibachi or sushi and not looking to spend lots of money then this place is a good choice.

Keep in mind I am new to the area and the Hibachi food here is different than what I am used to. Here is what you get: First, you get your soup and salad, then everyone gets the appetizer shrimp, then they make your vegetables (zucchini and onion only), then they make your rice and they DO NOT put egg in the rice, and then they cook the meat. Pros: They give very generous portions...and I mean generous for a Hibachi place so you get a TON of food. Also they put a generous amount of sesame seeds on the food. Cons: First, it is ridiculous to not put egg in the fried rice- that is a BIG part of the show at most places. Second, Misaki is not big on the "show" part of it, in my opinion. It is the least entertaining Hibachi place that I have ever been to (not counting places without tables). Third, I asked for carrots and zucchini instead of onion and zucchini and the charged me $2. Fourth, I had to talk them into frying me an egg in the back to mix in with my rice. They gave me not even half a fried egg and charged me $1. Fifth, the meat is not cooked in the right order. It should be placed on the grill so everyone's food is ready at around the same time. They should have put the chicken (which took longest to cook) on first, and then added meat accordingly. Instead they began cooking the chicken last, so people that ordered chicken got it 10 minutes after I got my steak. The food had a decent flavor but the extra requests I had to make and the money they charged me for it was ridiculous.

Love it! Used to be called Kyoto/Miyabi. There are several of them in North and South Carolina still under the Miyabi name. Food is always wonderful and the price is unbeatable. They are the ONE place in Knoxville that gets the "white sauce" right. The place could use a remodel, but I'll make that sacrifice for good food any day.

I've gone here twice in the last month. Early bird special was a great deal. Wondering if they have new management since previous reviews because I didn't see any of other posters problems. Food was very good and generous.

I went here for my sister's birthday; I think they recently changed their name, but the management is the same. Great service, great sushi. There are a couple of Japanese restaurants in a row here, but this is my favorite.

Nothing beats this restaurant....starting with the soup and salad....The soy dressing is to die for....Then on to the chefs doin their thing on the grill....delicious appetizer shrimp...Then you pick what you want...Ribeye steak, Filet Mignon, Scallops, Shrimp, Teriyaki Chicken, Jumbo Shrimp....pick em all...pick 1 or pick 3....my favorite is the Ribeye steak.. They grill it to your taste throw some mushrooms on the grill with it...but first they give you the best tasting zuchini and onions that are sauteed ...and a bed of rice ..top it with your choices of the above meats ....and then ...you cant forget the yummy sauces....they have a mustard sauce which is my favorite...but everyone loves the mayo sauce...I have seen people ask for the jug .... I have never seen anyone finish their entire plate...I always leave with enough for an entire meal the next day! Dont forget the sushi bar....they are quick and everything is very very fresh...my favorites...the avocado salad, the volcano roll, charleston, philly, unagi, salad roll, I could go on and on....They even make up rolls with whatever you want in them if it is not on the menu! This is the best place to come with a group, couple, or alone...by the end of the meal you have made new friends..who you will definitely see again here.....

I used to go to misaki every Sunday for sushi. The sushi is always great, but sometimes the wait can be a little much if there's a few table filled in the sushi bar and only one guy making the stuff. The hibachi portions are always plentiful and tasty. I like more of a show, but if the food is hot and good I don't care what the chef is tossing around, lol.

We left even before the food was served. The restaurant was unclean, and smelled like pee when we came in(the bathrooms are next to the entrance). The food score was an 81, and there was still food left on the (not so great looking) hibachi grill. The overhead ventilation system was caked in grease, and the gas lines were missing panels, and patched with electrical tape. I would not recommend this to anyone. Go next door for the buffet.

I would have to rate the food as one of the best tasting cook in front of you japanese restaurants I have ever been to, however, the price of the food and the out dated building do not go hand in hand. The carpet was just old, the tiles or lack there of where the chef cooks were attempted to be covered by a rug. The flat grill looks like it has been there since the building was Miyabi's many many years ago, and was also bowed in the middle and the built up grim was pretty bad. The vents need to be renovated, the outside was painted red to cover up the age. The service was not that great, nice just not very attentive. The kid training tried harder than our actual server who never even came to give refills on water. The cook was entertaining, and the food was amazing! For the price of the food, I expect a much more well taken care of environment. Oh, and the toilets in the bathroom really grossed me out, not because they were dirty but they had this plastic thing over them and it made me feel like I was in a hospital. Anyway, if I am going to pay $20 or more/person, I definitely would like to see the restaurant take some initiative in the upkeep of their place.

Normally I would give this restaurant five stars. When my family comes to visit from out of state they always request to come here. The food is always good and you get a very generous amount of it. Nothing beats their sushi bar. It's the best in Knoxville and the service is always good. I recently read a review made by someone else on yahoo and wax shocked. They said that they saw roaches and the staff made no concessions about this unpleasantness. Well, I took my niece and some of her college friends to eat here a few days ago and I swatted a roach off of her friend's leg. It landed on her chair and scurried under her chain onto the floor. I was SHOCKED beyond belief. When I told our server what had happened all he could say was: "Really? I've never seen one of those here." WTF? No apology from anyone and no one did anything to alert the management. I am considering called the health inspector. If they have a roach problem it will only be a matter of time until they have roaches showing up in the food. I am so disappointed. I used to LOVE this place. :(
