This place is as far from French as you can get. It's not bad... But it's no where close to what it is trying to be. My food was "ok". Absolutely not worth the price. We started with the pate' and the carpaccio.... Not bad... Under seasoned...but not great. We both got specials the fish and the pulled pork. Again, under whelming and around 25$ a plate or more.... I expected to be impressed and was far from it. Not to mention the staff is unprofessional and the bathrooms dirty.... Good luck if you venture here. We don't see it lasting long.

Since the departure of the original chef, the food hasn't been the same. It used to be amazing, but It is now average at best. It's not classic French anymore and that makes me sad. Knoxville has more then enough 'Southern fusion' or 'Creole inspired' type restaurants and Soleil is being made into one of them. While nothing is horrible, nothing stands out about the food anymore, as they say "the love is gone", its being made by a cook, not a Chef. Try them out if you must (the small cozy feel to the restaurant is still nice), but to fellow foodies I would suggest heading over to Gay St. to check over some of the new places there ;)

Wow!! This is my new favorite restaurant in Knoxville. If you haven't checked it out yet, you need to eat here...TODAY. I had the best pulled pork sandwich I have ever eaten, and the service was very professional. In addition to delicious food, the ambiance and foreign music made me feel like I didn't have to go all the way back to France to experience what I did a year ago when I studied abroad there. At the same time, the American southern influence made it homey. The owner is a passionate, young entrepreneur who took the time to talk to us when the place was busy. What a truly fantastic dining experience!

Absolutely great! We had the beet salad and a variety of entrees and they were all really good, modern twist on rustic French. Definitely will come again...absolutely stellar service! Our waiter was a consummate professional. Love the concept of the small plates, too: great food served in reasonable portions and priced accordingly. The seafood pasta was my pick, and it was really good. Great experience overall.

Incredible! Freshest meal in Knoxville! I feel like they prepped all the food right after I ordered. What more can you ask for, a little Sinatra in the background, fresh food, cozy atmosphere, this place has everything an enthusiast would appreciate. Cooking and dining is an art here!

Wow! What an unexpected gem of a meal...stopped by on New Years Eve and they were completely booked but host checked with the chef and they offered to let friend and I come a bit before opening. Special menu was four course prix fixe. Started with an amazing French Onion Soup, my favorite...this was like none I've had...broth was literally onion broth as opposed to beef broth. Flavors were amazing and not overpowering like many. Next enjoyed pork rillettes followed by the most delicious filet with a spot on Dijon sauce...flavors were mild but lip licking and did not over power the perfectly cooked filet. For my final course I choose the pear tart with cinnamon ice cream. I typically do not enjoy nutmeg but the nutmeg in the ice cream made the dish. Wonderful food, wonderful waitstaff, and amazing host! Thank you for making Knoxville a place I will return to soon...regardless of having tickets for a show!

Had a Birthday gathering of friends here, recently. Great, cozy atmosphere with a great selection on the menu. The food was delicious and the service was truly outstanding. The owner really cares about the needs of his clients. I highly recommend them if you want some quiet time with a special friend or group.

Delicious food and great service. Visited for a birthday celebration dinner and the staff here nailed it! I had the filet and mashed potatoes. My husband had sea-bass and we cleaned our plates! The chef is particular on what you can request...although I am totally ok with medium rare, others in the group were not. They also were a little particular on switching sides but did accommodate. (I did not want collard greens and wanted green beans instead and was told they would see...I am glad they could switch because the green beans were amazing!) Overall great little new place off the square and we will be back!

Cafe du Soleil was exquisite! We ventured there for my friend's birthday last weekend. They were short staffed upon arrival, but we're incredibly apologetic and accommodating. Because of our wait to be seated, which was not long at all in my opinion, the manager gifted us a fantastic deal on two bottles of high grav beer. And by fantastic I mean, close to $1 a person. The food was delicious. My friend and I enjoyed the seafood pasta, while my other two friends indulged in the chicken and vegetable pasta. We were all very pleased with our selections. The mussels in my pasta were cooked to perfection and they sat in a scrumptious, lobster creamy sauce with angel hair pasta. It was the perfect amount of food. The other cocktails we ordered, including Hot Rachel, were perfect. I'd even go as far to say that their bar tender is one of the best in town. We will definitely be visiting again! Thank you Cafe du Soleil for an unexpected extraordinary dining experience!

seats about 30-35top. A hidden gem that has been opened for about a couple of months. The food is really good. I came and checked this place out the day after christmas and was starving about 8pm. Luckily the kitchen was still opened and I ordered the leg of lamb. Man oh man, the flavor was on point but I was a little disappointed about the food not coming out hot. If the food tasted good luke warm, than I could only imagine how amazing it would have tasted hot. My partner in crime had ordered the chicken and dumpling. It was also disappointingly not hot. I suppose the staff was a bit short and the bartender was also the waiter and the greeter. I forgive because it seems as though some kinks are still being worked out. Service was good and the drink list is to a minimal. Hey, it just opened and the drinks has yet to evolve. Upon closing out our tab, there was an item listed that we did order but that was quickly resolved to what was actually ordered. Overall, I will definitely come back as this place is a nice getaway from the hoot of market square. Looking forward to this place running smoothly and efficiently.

January: Whoa- did they switch mgmt? the food was okay- lost the French twist, and the service was sub-par. super disappointed! July: One of the best meals I have had! Amazing, locally sourced and high-quality food with knowledgable servers and a top notch kitchen. Go. Here. Now!

Great find. This tiny bistro really delivers. We visited on a Thursday night and found the place empty but were given a warm greeting. The service was friendly, pleasant and relaxed and the food was delicious. I recommend the escargot, served in a martini glass in a rich butter sauce. The filet was tender and cooked perfectly.

Seafood boil on Mondays was outstanding. Nice atmosphere and location as well. Will definitely go back soon.

Stopped in on our way to Asheville from Louisville. It was absolutely delicious! I got the blt & my hubs got the croque-Monsieur. The food came out looking so good that we ended up splitting our sandwiches and sharing. Best of all, our server was so friendly. He gave us some change for parking (bc we explained we were on a road trip,) and he gave us some recommendations for places to check out in Asheville. We'll remember Knoxville fondly because of the tasty food and friendly service.

Average. There were things that were good; Beet salad was amazing, service was very warm and friendly. There was much that was middle of the road; entrees, sides, and overall creativity. There were some bad things; booth seating, daily menu with 2 of the 3 sides changed. We visited them on a Saturday evening date night. The space is small but well decorated with seating at the bar or tables. We had made online reservations and our table was ready when we arrived. The booth was just strange. The seats must have come from a Chucky Cheese because they were extremely low to the ground with deep seats that made it awkward to reach the table. The menu was small with three entrees listed. Beef, pork and a fish with three sides available of Brussels sprouts, new potatoes and green beans. We found out the Brussel sprouts and new potatoes were not available and were replaced with collards and mashed potatoes, the green beans survived on the menu. We found the portion sizes to be large, the beef filet, pork butt and the rest of the food to be average at best. I just realized I have spent several words on explaining the uninspired... In the voice of Forest Gump," that's all I got to say bout that"

The beet salad and pate were fantastic! Joe, the bartender/server was friendly, informative and attentive. Come early...only 6 inside and 5 outside tables available.

Food was wonderful! Had the cheese plate! Yum. Friend had escargot. Said it was very good. Entrees ordered were filet, grouper and pulled pork! All super yum. Desserts were creme brûlée and bread pudding with dark chocolate sauce. Great meal. Service was wonderful. Wait staff was cordial and knowledgable. Really enjoyed them. Very cozy place. Small so recommend reservations to avoid disappointment. Only negative I have is the seating at the booths. Those are not seats for tables, but seem more like something for a living room. Seats are too low and too deep. Backs are angled too far back. Throw those things out and get some chairs!

Great atmosphere right next to the Hilton and UT Conference Center. Had a delightful soup followed by chicken and dumplings. The dish was simple but cooked really well. Finished with a dutch chocolate aperitif that made a silky decadent conclusion to a fine evening. Will stop in again next time I am in Knoxville!

Such a sweet and intimate dining place. The food is amazing. The Chef cooks the food to perfection. Highly recommend this restaurant. I am excited about the weather warming up a bit to be able to dine on the patio.

Great food every time I've been! I highly recommend the escargot for an appetizer (and dip the bread in the sauce) and the creme brulee for dessert!
(5)Melanie D.
A cozy, romantic spot with outdoor seating available. I had the fresh catch which was a perfectly cooked delicate cod topped with a beurre blanc. My companion had the beet salad and the steamed mussels which were both excellent. We finished with the lemon torte. Highly recommend everything we tried and service was attentive and efficiently timed.

A recent name change that reflects its' location better than the previous name. This is a definite date night or meet for dinner before going on to other places. Excellent farm to table restaurant (as much as is possible). Recently got their license for wine (not sure if that translates as harder stuff as well here). Everything is wonderful!

Great food and reasonably priced at $10 and up. The small plates are plenty of food. Recommend reservations on the weekends

Came here on a recommendation and it was awesome. Beet salad is a must and the bread is from the plaid apron came with no butter but did not need it, melts I. Your mouth. My wife had the salmon I had the lamb. Give this place a try!
