There are many reasons I love this place. First, they catered our wedding and did a great job. By the way, they offer much more than just the restaurant menu when it comes to catering. Second, the food is delicious. I love their bbq. My wife loves their meatloaf. Plus, my daughter will tell anyone with ears the fried pickles are incredible, which they are. Third, which is what inspired me to write this review, when you can come into a restaurant that closes at 9:30 and it's already 8:50, and the staff are still happy to see you, that says something. No one rushed us in the least. If anything, they made us feel extra welcome. That kind of attitude is a rare and wonderful thing and that's what will keep us coming back for more!

I couldn't believe they cooked my steak for 12 to 15 hours. Pulled pork and smoked turkey also delicious. Lots of fun trying all the different BBQ sauces.

Stopped by for the breakfast buffet. There were a good number of options and everything was a good temperature. The highlights for me were the kielbasa, fluffy biscuits, and omelet station. We got a table quickly and were able to go right up to the buffet to eat.

From the moment we stepped out of our car and smelled that bbq we knew we had picked a good place. So many good things to choose from. I recommend the brisket and smoked chicken. Tiffany was our server and she was so sweet to us. Hoping to make it back one more time before the convention is over!

I was craving good bbq so the lady at the front desk of my hotel recommended to come here to eat. It was a great choice. I had the Mac and cheese, coleslaw, and pulled pork. It was definitely good. The pork didn't need any sauce but I like sauce. So I tried them all. Not sure which I like the best. But the food and service was great.

TrIed to go to Pratt's on Tuesday night about 7. The sign said please wait to be seated. They didn't seem busy. I waited and waited and left. I did take a to-go menu and I will try to return and hope my opinion changes.

Pratt's has great BBQ. We went there for lunch the other day and had the buffet. It was great! Never knew they had a buffet, but that's because it's only at lunch and we've always come at dinner time. Good food. Good service. Fair prices. Be sure to get one of their honey-glazed hams for the holidays! Delicious!!!

A big let down... I took my wife and two kids here. We entered a very empty front area on a week-night. There were several tables open but it took a few minutes to get seated. When we sat down we were greeted by the server. She was friendly and polite. We explained it was our first time and asked what was good. She said the brisket was really good. My wife asked about the ribs and she said, "In the four year's I've worked here I've never tried the ribs." What?!? Despite this my wife ordered a half-rack, beans, and a sweet potato. I ordered half brisket, half pulled pork and got beans and mac and cheese on the side. The kids had hot dogs. The ribs were not cooked long enough. They were tough, hard to eat and didn't have much flavor. The pulled pork and brisket was served cold, and the fat was still white (not cooked long enough). It was the same for the mac and cheese; the sauce had broken and the fat solidified. We both enjoyed the beans, pretty spicy. The more I tasted the beans the more I was convinced it came from a can and wasn't made on site. The kids had the best meals. Hot dogs were served hot with hot fries. My wife and I both had water, the kids each had a drink and the total came to $47. I really thought I was making a good choice passing Texas Roadhouse for a local place...it's Tennessee right? Big mistake. Turn into the parking lot right next door, throw peanuts on the floor and enjoy some "barbecue" at Texas Roadhouse. BIG LET DOWN.

Seriously disappointed. We arrived around 8pm on a Saturday evening, it was not busy but it took over 15 minutes after we were seated before a server came to our table just to take our drink order. Another group, seated across from us left about 5 minutes after we arrived because they had been there so long without a server. The BBQ was only OK. The sauces are good. This was a first & last visit, for sure.

Work has brought me back to this area and have visited Pratts 4 times now. Super friendly staff, quick professional service. Tried most everything on the menu now, including the Sunday buffet today. I'm not a great catfish fan, but I like it and this was truly 'the business' LOVED it :) Gets better every time, great food, great quality, excellent value for money as well.. Just as well I don't live around here, 'cos if I did I'd be eating here ALL the time lol.... Highly recommended.

Pratt's is among one of my Dad's favorite restaurants. So, what better thing to do than drive a hour out of our way to get this Kingsport classic? Upon arrival I quickly realized this had been the wrong approach to the question. We were greeted and seated with friendly faces and warm smiles. Drink orders were given and menus passed out. Once the menus were actually cracked open however, the smiles began to fade. Their menu had changed! For someone like myself I was fine with the new adventure. My Dad was a different story. It seems they had discontinued some of their local favorites. My Dad being heart broken over his beloved fried mushrooms no longer being available. While they are delicious, I do feel like the south's love of battered and deep fried foods has went to the extreme and this might just be Pratt's way of helping us dry out. My Dad didn't quite see it that way. The fried mushrooms' (which I'm pretty sure he would leave my mother for) absents was like a slap in his face that continually ruined the rest of his meal. As for my order, I went with the new pulled smoked turkey. Well, what I thought was turkey turned out to be the equivalent of a salt mine wrapped in meaty package. It was unbearably salty but nothing a little BBQ sauce couldn't fix, right? Wrong again! The BBQ sauce seems to have went down hill. I'm not sure if they had changed some of their sauce recipes or if they just got a bad batch of all six. The worst of the six was what is normally my favorite: "Tennessee Whiskey". It tasted like straight whiskey on the smoked turkey rocks. All in all the service was great. The new menu not so much. But, at least I can say I left all sauced up without even being carded!

They don't look at me weird when I order pounds of meat off the to go menu then eat them in-house. This is a big plus. Thank you for reading.

Pratt's just catered my brother's wedding and it was INCREDIBLE! The staff were so professional, warm, and on top of everything. The food was delicious!! People couldn't control themselves going back for more. It was all beautifully displayed and I would highly recommend it to anyone! I wish we lived closer as I will be dreaming of the pulled pork, pickles, coleslaw, sauces, sweet tea, etc .....Do u ship to California ;) We will be back when we visit!!

I was in town for a client, and I decided to try Pratt's when I saw it on Where Locals Eat and saw the sign that tempted my southern soul: All You Can Eat Fried Catfish. The place itself is really cute, and my waitress was equally so. And sweet too. She was attentive, helped process my order quickly so I could get to the airport, and offered to give me soda to go. But the catfish was absolutely amazing, along with the fried okra and "greens." Everything I had was some of the best this southern boy has experienced, and particularly at a restaurant. And all for $11.99. I especially was a big fan of the thick batter that they used on the fish and okra. I took a pork sandwich home with me to NYC, and I enjoyed it today. I'm quite picky on bar bq, but I prefer Middle Tennessee hickory smoked style. This was pretty good, but not my favorite. All in all, a great Tennessee experience.

**This review is specifically as Pratt's as a caterer** Pratt's catered my wedding 2 weeks ago. This was really the only part of my wedding that went well. And let me tell you, that does not even begin to cover it. Everyone at Pratt's was super helpful and nice. Karen, the catering coordinator made the process go very smoothly. She was very understanding when things changed again and again and again, as well as with my disorganized craziness. On the day of, they did a gorgeous spread, of which I will hopefully get photos uploaded. The decorations were beautiful and the food was delicious. Everyone commented on how great the food was (the bacon-wrapped scallops and the roast beef au jus were incredible!) I can't begin to thank them for everything they did to make our wedding amazing!!

I haven't eaten @ Pratt's since I was a child and I really could not remember anything about it. I ate there this afternoon for lunch and as soon as I put the beans and bbq pork in my mouth,I INSTANTLY went back to my childhood. I have NVR in my life been 100% satisfied @ ANY restaurant ever! Hands down, the best Restaurant in town! I say that as a former Chef, and I would say that I'm very hard to impress with any Restaurant period.Absolutely Best Bbq in America By far!!

Food is great! The meats have all been tender and juicy with a wonderful smokey flavor every time I have visited. Best ribs in town! Also they have just started a Saturday morning breakfast that is awesome....true southern breakfast buffet and very reasonably priced.

Pratt's is a hometown favorite! Love the atmosphere and the entire staff! Love to go for lunch and split the BBQ nachos with friends. Sunday Buffet after church is great too with lots of selections and good eats. I definitely recommend for catering as well! They did an excellent job catering our wedding. Our guests were very complimentary of the food and the setup was beautiful! Definitely must try if visiting Kingsport!

Stopped here looking for good Tennessee BBQ and found it. Not only are they known for their pit BBQ, but also spiral glazed hams. You can order your meat dry or wet. Every table has a selection of hand-made sauces. We ordered the nachos appetizer and it is unbelievable! Chips piled high with pulled pork, cheese, beans, and I don't know what else. You better have a large group with you or you will ruin your appetite. We had six people and were stuffed before we got our dinner. The server was quick with recommendations and fun to talk to. The ribs have a real smoky flavor and were a little drier than I like, but still tender. The pulled pork was really good, but I didn't really take to the brisket - not sure why. All the sides are excellent, especially the bean choices. The Tennessee Triple gives a nice combo selection of half portions of pulled pork and brisket, and a quarter rack of ribs, plus two sides. The prices are a little high, I thought, but worth it. You can buy bottle BBQ sauces in the waiting area. I would like to go back.

Okay, so I'm a California Vegetarian, Pratt's is the last place I'd go, right? That's what I thought until my mom brought me here while my dad was in the hospital. I didn't know they had so many vegetarian choices!! They have the fried okra, apples ( which are awesome, btw) and the BBQ beans. The BBQ beans are through the roof. Not your average baked bean, there's something more smoky about these, not to mention they have a great smoke flavor. The atmosphere is "down home" as we westerners like to call it. They even have a porch swing section! Did I mention the service? Southern hospitality at its' best. The wait staff is very attentive and willing to answer any questions you may have. DId I mention the huge baked potato with FRESH chives? That alone gets a great rating in my book.

Great food for the value, lunch buffet with a drink all for $11. Food is as good as anywhere in the TRI-City area!!

Pretty disappointing. I was down in Kingsport, TN for a wedding and was really excited to try some TN bbq. This place was recommended by the groom's family (who grew up in the area). So we got together a group of about 20 people and headed there for lunch before the wedding. I have to say that the service was fantastic. They seated a rowdy bunch of out-of-towners promptly and were super friendly and efficient. I loved the way they had frosted glasses for the beer. However, I felt a bit let down by the food. Deep fried breaded mushrooms for starters were good - but so is anything deep fried right? I got the Tennessee Triple as my main as it was a combo of 1/2 ribs, 1/2 pulled pork and 1/2 beef brisket. The ribs were pretty standard, but i thought the pulled pork and particularly the beef were overly dry. There were a fantastic selection of sauces to accompany which were painstakingly explained by our waitress, but they weren't good enough to compensate for the dryness of the meat. I got mashed potatoes (OK) and beans (good) for my sides. Honestly everything was really good apart from the meats...but then again, that's what bbq is all about right?

I stopped in for lunch at Pratt's BBQ because I wanted to experience some local flavor while visiting Kingsport on business. For starters, the service was good, fast and very friendly. It had a local BBQ feel to it and had plenty of parking at an exceptional price. I had the Tennessee Triple so I could experience as much of the BBQ as possible. the sides were very good. I had the fried okra (which is great to see at a restaurant) and the sweet potato fries and both were very good and hot, and fried which is hard to mess up. There was also a good BBQ sauce selection of various styles which I appreciated. However, I have to agree with the reviewer that said his stuff was over cooked and dry. Mine was the same way and very disappointing. it tasted like it was cooked in a microwave or smoked at too high of a temperature. It was tough and I had to smother it all in sauce. The ribs were of poor cut and quality. The brisket was the driest of the portions and was inedible being the worst I've ever had. The pulled pork was dry and I've had much better. Although this place had good sides and service, you want good BBQ when you got to a BBQ place. I could have prepared much better stuff at home. If you are a connoisseur of good BBQ like myself you will find this place disappointing. It's one of those places that only locals will consider great because its all they've had.

I am so glad I decided to take my visiting NY son & family here despite the other two-starred review. Pratt's had fun pig-themed southern decor. There's booths, tables and a fireplace. A couple tables even have a real porch swing in lieu of chairs. Like Jeremy, we had FANTASTIC service. The waitress was naturally friendly with southern charm and gave super-efficient service - prompt & one step ahead of the guests. The prices were more reasonable than I expected, the kids rib meal was a great deal! (4 adults, 1 child and a baby - the bill was around $55 including drinks and a couple beers.) Drinks were served served in mason jars and cornbread was served instead of rolls for southern flair. There's a six-pack of bbq sauces all different flavors on the table that we all had fun tasting. The food isn't fine-dining five-star, but it's definitely tasty and hearty - the way southern food is supposed to be. Definitely was a 5 star experience. My pulled pork sandwich was perfect, and the rib-orderers were very pleased with the taste of their ribs. Even my vegetarian daughter had a unique "vegetable platter" that included potatoes & pasta. When my other kids come to visit I'll be sure to take them here! Unfortunately we were all way to stuffed for dessert! Next time I'll get the strawberry shortcake in the mason jar :)
