My grandmother and I stopped by here to pick up our lunch today. We came up to the drive thru where they have the menu listed on the wall right before you go up to the window to buy your food. They offer several bundle options or simple ala carte options. After going back and forth debating how hungry we were, Mummer (my grandmother) decided on the Pig Pack for $19.09. It comes with a large bag of bbq chips, 1.5 pounds of bbq, 2 sides of beans and coleslaw, buns, and sides of sauce to put on the bbq, The sauce is definitely a vinegar base. Not the best kind of sauce I've had, but it was alright. The bbq was a bit drier than it should have been which I didn't particularly like either. This meal is enough to feed 5 hungry people on the cheap. I like that it comes with everything so you don't have to make the extra trip to the grocery store to pick up other supplies. Mummer and I each had a sandwich a piece and settled on leftovers for later. It's good. Not really good, but simply good. Mummer picked this place out so I wasn't gonna complain if she was feeding us, but next time I think I definitely would drive the extra few miles to go to Latham's for my Jackson bbq fix.

We took a chance and we're very glad we did! The pulled pork was delicious, tender moist and cut the right way, not too small. It was like North Carolina style, vinegar base sauce, and great flavor. The service was good too- kept up accurately with our chaotic 5 person orders.

I've been to this place 3 times. We tried them the second and third times since we live in the neighborhood and because we thought we might have caught them on a bad day. Clearly the idea of having a drive through BBQ joint is a good one, but I am just not into the idea of dry and flavorless pulled pork. I am a life long fan of excellent BBQ, and this is anything but. This would be my BBQ of last resort in Jackson, and I'd find an excuse to eat something else instead. If my grandmother served this when I came to visit, I'd politely eat it and ask my momma why grandma has no taste buds left.

We have been fans for years. The smoke on the meat is just right. I like that the sauce is more vinegar based as is the slaw. The sauce is also not so hot and spicy that it covers up the real meat flavor. The beans are not too sweet, but enough to compliment the sour of the slaw. We usually get the pig pack so we can make it up how we like it...my daughter does straight meat, I like a little of slaw and sauce, but my husband likes just meat and sauce. My dad likes to salt his meat a bit before the sauce. I have also taken the meat and sauce and made a mean brunswick stew. The food is good! Now it is a drive thru only...no seating..just pick it up and take it where you need it--home, a picnic, a party.

I wanted to like the pig house. I like plain pulled pork without a ton of heavy sauce. That's how all the BBQ joints at home (in NE Arkansas) are and it's the style of the pig house. Problem is, the meat just wasn't very good. Big, stringy cuts were dry and flavorless, and the sides weren't very good either. Latham's, Herb's, and even Reggie's make a better sandwich.
