I am mystified by this place. They've got excellent ambiance and the menu has some great items. Even still, this place is overpriced for Jackson. The problem is further complicated by the fact that there is inconsistency with the quality of the food, meaning that one time something can be great and at others, not great at all. Additionally, the time that it takes for the kitchen to get food out is also inconsistent. I also have had more than one occasion where the service was BAD. There is also no signature item. I had high hopes for this place and I enjoyed my first two visits. My last four visits have left me feeling like I wasted money. I think they can get it together. Will they?

Food and service was excellent! First time in Jackson and this was by far the best restaurant we have been to. They have a great Martini list and wine selection. Will definitely come back next time I'm in town. You won't be disappointed!

Everything was great! Great food great service and great music! I have to say it is on the pricy side, but everything tasted great! Do try the grilled Caesar salad. It's the specialty here. Grilled romaine and Caesar dressing just went so well together. No need for bacon to enhance the flavor. We had jumbo shrimp grilled and chilled as appetizer. There were 10 shrimps! This one is worth the price. I personally prefer them grilled. The seasoning was perfect. Lamb chop was juicy. Tilapia was cooked just right. They ran out of apple crisp which was disappointing but the black tie chocolate cake was rich and comforting. What a great way to end a meal. Will definitely come back next time we are in town!

We live 40 mins away had never been here... Decided to come for anniversary dinner and sat outside. Dinner choice was lamb chops and salmon. Dinner and service was great! Thanks ....

My husband and I were amazed. We are still building our finances and do not frequent "fancy" restaurants often, but we went here for the Sunday brunch (from 11-3) and were blown away. Prices were great. 8$ for a delicious omelette with a side of fruit and some of the most impressive potatoes I've ever had. The potatoes were crunchy on the outside and looked like they had been buttered on the inside. Please don't worry about my description. Just know the potatoes are so good. Coffee was fine. Service was nice. Go there for Sunday brunch!!!

Probably would have been better for dinner... was like 3 people in the place for lunch took 2 hours to eat there. . The waitress did not know the menu at all.. didn't even know what kind of cheese was Available for my coworkers burger...The quesadillas with the duck was fantastic. . Over priced for lunch they should include lunch portions for items on their dinner menu . But oh well.. would like to Try it for dinner before I leave town but we will see...

The service was great. The grilled Caesar Salad was great. The beer was too warm for my taste, and the New York Strip was a little overcooked. My biggest problem was the steak. At $37, I expect a Steak to floor me. This steak didn't. It was good, but not excellent. The steak I had at Longhorn the night before had better flavor than this one did. A nice place to eat without a doubt, but the prices are way too high. Not worth it.

Two trips to Jackson and ate here on each trip. I think it is safe to assume one of the few upscale restaurants in town and the food definitely meets that expectation. Filet could literally be cut with a fork and was perfectly prepared. Fried green tomatoes with marinara very good. Ambience good although could use some fabric and walls to break up the room and tone down the industrial feel. Something to block the rush of cold air from the front door would be good.

Best Mushroom risotto! Fantastic crab cakes! Everything was excellent. Only place of it's kind in Jackson! Try Happy hour on" Wed Nite" Super Fun and great Specials

Great food. Awesome atmosphere. Bad service though. We waited 15 minutes to get a seat which was just fine but we then waited over 20 minutes for a drink order. It took another 15 minutes to get a food order The hostess continued to seat parties in our waiters section and it was obvious he was not happy about it. That ruined our experience because his focus was not on us anymore. The three star is for the cheap drinks and the great food.

About the only upscale place in Jackson. Although it's a bit pricey, the food is typically great! I've gone here a lot for work functions and I will say that the quality of their food does vary at times. I tend to stay with a steak or the Santos Chicken.

Spending some time in Jackson one evening I found this place on Yelp. I have to say it was excellent. I usually always order the lamb,,so I ordered the grilled lamb chops with Memphis dry rub. This is some of the best I've ever had. My date had the strip and it was very good however the lamb was her favorite as well. The service was excellent and very personal. The place was very clean and mostly empty, just due to the fact that it was very late when we arrived. I'll be back

My boss was in Jackson, TN on business with his boss, and asked me to find a nice place for them to go eat. After doing some research, I realized that there are slim pickin's down in Jackson! I saw this and there was some mixed reviews but it seemed like the type of place they would like. I sent him the info and told him about what I read. The next day he sent me an email, with "Flatiron Grill = Great Find!" He is still on the road and so I dont have details, but he is a picky person so the fact that he enjoyed it says alot! When he gets back I will try to update with more specifics! But he asked me to keep it on his list of my visit while on the road list! :)

My wife and I happened upon this restaurant this past weekend and were pleasantly surprised. We had a very enjoyable meal that was a departure from the usual chain restaurants that seem to be the rule in Jackson. I thought the wine prices per bottle were very reasonable. I had a great lamb chop dinner and my wife had their portabello sandwich. We started with the eggplant appetizer which was huge and a meal in its own right. Very tasty. The ceasar salad comes either chilled or grilled. We would recommend this as one of the best in Jackson.

I'd heard quite a bit about the Flatiron Grille before dining there. I was told that it's "terribly expensive", had "funny food", and was "very eclectic". I'll be honest. I was surprised to find a restaurant of this quality in Jackson. The food is exquisite. We had the Duck Tacos for a starter and they were very tasty, well-presented, and made with fresh ingredients. The sauce reminded me of Corky's barbecue sauce (but thinner and not so sweet). I also sampled the soup of the day, the Crab and Corn Bisque -- it was *excellent*. I selected the Pecan Crusted Chicken as my entree' and I wasn't disappointed. Served over yams, the chicken was very flavorful (the pecans added quite a bit). I also sampled the Tournedos de Beouf and the Shrimp Risotto -- both were excellent. The porto demiglace on the "Beouf" might have been a little better done (reminded me of Worcester Sauce), but the quality of the beef was very good. The shrimp was just down right delicious. The service was attentive but not intrusive, the presentation of all the dishes was excellent. The wine list was quite impressive for a restaurant in Jackson. Some things to note: Parking isn't a problem -- the restaurant is in the same shopping area as Hobby Lobby and Best Buy. The decor is very eclectic and is wide open and as a result, it's not exactly "noisy", but sound does carry. Children may not be the best idea (I didn't see a children's menu). Desserts are not made in-house. Pricing is on the high-end for Jackson, but you get very good value for your money.

Great ambiance for a quiet dinner or drink. The grilled Caesar salad is excellent.

There aren't a lot of choices in Jackson and after reading reviews we thought this was the place to go. Well... it wasn't. We were there at around 6:30 and there was literally nobody else there. When we walked in it smelled like fish... and not like the good "cooking fish" smell. Nevertheless, we sat down and ate anyway.... It was not good. The service wasn't good... the food was pretty gross (I had salmon... bad move)... and the place remained essentially empty the entire time we were there. Also, they don't have hot tea... they don't have any hot drinks apparently. Weird. Anyway, we travel to Jackson quite a bit for work and will have to settle for some other chain.

We've been here several times in the past. Haven't been in a while so we decided to go. It's one of the very few upper scale dining in Jackson. I was disappointed. They took off what made them upscale and added sandwiches. I can get a club sandwich anywhere. That's not why you come to a place like this. The service was sloooow!! It must have been her first day. Not totally her fault but it took over an hour to get our meal. They used to have a sea bass on the menu and I was really wanting it but it's gone. I had to settle for salmon. Again I can get that anywhere. All in all, it's ok but not worth the money or the wait.

Best Resturant in town! Little pricey.. But you get what you pay for ! Atmosphere is wonderful! They have a awesome patio! Look for Tim the bartender... he makes the best drinks
(5)James G.
I liked the theme and the decor, the service was pleasing and the concept is cool. The food however was suffering a major identity crisis. Parsley sprinkled all over the plate is a huge turn off. I had to send the tournados back for being overcooked but at least I can understand that. It is an easy cut of meat to overcook. Overall would eat there again, although I might request the dish "sans parsley."
(3)Angie P.
Both times I've eaten there I have been incredibly impressed. Adult atmosphere. Beautiful open floor plan that also offers privacy. Incredible cuisine. Nice to eat at a restaurant that doesn't taste like I could have cooked it better at home. Definitely going back!

I live in Palm Desert CA and there is definately an abundance of fabulous restaurants, when my daughter first brought me to the Flatiron I was vey impressed. I did not think Jackson had a restaurant of this quality. From decor, service and food everything was lovely. I also am used to being able to dine outside on lovely patios and was delighted to find such a patio dinning area at Flatiron

A beautiful restaurant that has lots of class. Excellent service and delicious quality steaks.

I can't believe that this restaurant has been open for a year and a half and I had not tried it yet. Jackson tends to be nothing more than a rest stop between Memphis and Nashville and so we don't seem to get many original places to eat and have to make do with all the standard fair that you can find in every other city in America. And out of the blue comes the Flatiron Grille. My mother was visiting from Florida and it happened to be Mother's Day so I figured that I would take her here as everything else was, well to be honest, everything else was boring. We were in for quite a treat. Not only was the food incredible, but on a day notorious for restaurants being busy and no one getting very good service, this place delivered. Our server was wonderful and treated us like we were the only table he had. Now this place is a little on the pricey side but it makes a great location to celebrate special occasions. And it is definitely worth the price. I have pretty much given up on ordering steak when I go out to eat as it never tends to be as good as I can make it at home and I have to say that I was impressed by their steaks. I also got to try the rack of lamb which was quite exquisite. One of the other complaints I have about many restaurants is that while the entrees may be okay, the sides items are just on the spoiled side of mediocre. The baked potato was fresh, hot, deliciously seasoned and loaded perfectly and the asparagus was... for lack of a better word, faultless. And I also have to make mention of the salad which was a wonderful mix of romaine and assorted vegetables with an splendid tomato-basil vinaigrette . Since we were there on Mother's Day, they provided my mother with a free desert. The "lemon bar" was wonderfully tart and refreshing after a heavy meal. All in all, I was impressed with the Flatiron Grille. This definitely is not a place I would go on a regular basis, but makes for a great place to go for a special occasion. The only problem I can see with this restaurant is that it is the only one and that I am moving soon and will not be able to take advantage of celebrating here for very much longer.

After a long day and stressful night, I ended up here, when I walked in at 9:20, the hostess said they were closed. I thought oh man NO! I was the only customer in the place and I was hungry. Nichole, the bartender said come on in. I was like, are you sure? I didn't want anyone spitting in my food. Ha! I ordered a drink, a lovely house salad and the delicious Pork Marsala with mashed potatoes and veggies. Thank goodness a couple came in after me! I didn't feel as bad. My meal was so good and the hospitality was fantastic. Nichole even bought me a drink! Sometimes it's the smallest acts of kindness that you remember the most and The Flatiron Grill serving me and being so nice after a long day is tops in my opinion! My food was delicious and my day ended beautifully! I will definitely return!

This is an excellent place for dinner. The service was great and the food exceptional. I am giving Flatiron four stars because it is so dark. The atmosphere is nice and I understand where they are going with the ambient light but it was extremely dark. It was definitely worth the visit and would like to make my way through the menu but don't know when I will be returning to Jackson. You can get half orders of some of the appetizers and light portions on a few of the entrees. If you are a light eater it is the perfect way to have both an appetizer and entree without being overly stuffed or wasteful. I had half an Eggplant Rosa and a light portion of the Atlantic Salmon. The eggplant was perfect and even a half an order would have been enough to share. The salmon was very tasty. I will say that the "glaze" was applied more like a sauce and was a little too thick for what I consider a glaze. It is worth a visit!

The risotto with the sun-dried tomatoes and spinach was wonderful! Service was good.
(4)Nina M.
We were concerned with the mixed reviews on yelp, but we gave it a shot since there seemed to be few non- chain nice options in Jackson. We were very pleasantly surprised. The eggplant was the best I have had and my husband loved the pizza. House salad was fresh and tasty. Good, prompt service. So much food we had enough for lunch the next day.

We've eaten at Flatiron probably 25 times or so since it opened. About 15 times were positive or neutral & about 10 times were gawd-awful. That's the reason for the two stars: inconsistency. You either get great food, great service & a great night ...or it's horrible & you curse yourself the whole way home for blowing $100 on swill. Sad but true: This place will eventually shut down once people get tired of a coin flip to see if it's an on-night or an off-night.
(2)Jonathan F.
Excellent all around! Service was awesome, food (had the Delmonico and a wedge salad) was uh-mazing, and we got a table visit from the manager. Great experience and will come back again!
(5)Olaf K.
Beautiful place! Great atmosphere & design. Too bad the the interior designers weren't running the restaurant . Service was mediocre - had to ask for everything, including a napkin. Server committed ultimate sin: serve the entrée when I'm half done with salad (which was served lukewarm). A hunk of bread from local grocery store is served in a paper bag - I guess that makes it fancy. Entrée was pretty good. The vegetable side was an afterthought that they started cooking last Tuesday.

For Jackson, TN...5 stars. Thank you for being here! 4 nights is a long time to be in this small town when you're a big city girl. I chose The Grill for my last night in town, job well done dinner. The atmosphere is indicative of a fine dining establishment with contemporary art, deep red paint and low lighting. The staff are truly polite and treated me like a customer wants to be treated. The Memphis style lamb chop ribs with a side of bbq sauce were divine; tender at medium rare with black bits from cooking over an open fire - just the way you'd want them! The creamed spinach is creamy goodness. I definitely recommend this place. Strong work, Flatiron Grill! Strong work!
(5)Tracis K.
Let it be known you are paying for the atmosphere alone. Food was mediocre at best, but nowhere near worth the price. Good drinks , great service. They basically run a monopoly on this type of atmosphere in Jackson so choose your battles.

A travel to Tennessee once a year and this is by far my favorite restaurant in Tennessee. You first glance at the menu and you think: How much?!! It's pretty pricey, but once you taste the food... It's all worth it! To start off..there's the amazing bread!! I'm a sucker for bread. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I ordered the blacken chx pasta and it came with ceasars salad. I was asked if I wanted it grilled or regular. I asked: the chx? Waitress said: no your lettuce. Well, I've never had my lettuce grilled before ever.. Sure!! It was so yummy!! My husband food was good too. For Appetizer we ordered the fried tomato! Also delicious! If you haven't been, u better get to it!
(5)Randy A.
Service was outstanding. Bartender was busy with other customers so manager came over to serve me. Then he explained the menu with his recommendations! Food was wonderful. I am very critical and everything was perfect. You can't go wrong here.
(5)Larry S.
Overpriced. The food is mediocre at best. 8.50 for a house wine that was average or below is overpriced. I would not recommend.
(2)Rebecca C.
First off, I went on an extremely busy night and we had exceptional service!! I was surprised; and it wasn't just out waiter. This restaurant has excellent customer service. Their drinks are great. Our table loved every entree we got from salad to pasta to steak. Highly recommended!!!
(5)Karen W.
We were passing through and came here on the recommendation of the front desk at the motel we were staying in. We had a great time, good food, and romantic atmosphere. The prices were a bit on the high side, but we enjoyed it. After looking at other reviews, I would agree on a few points made. Yes the service was slow, but not overly so. Our food was right on - the SO had chopped steak and gravy and I had chicken piccata. The ambiance was dark, with jazz piped in - very romantic (IMHO). If you have the money to spend or want to impress - this place should work based on what we saw here.
(4)Michael B.
Great food! The crab cakes are incredible!!! It's a little pricy, but the food is worth the price!!
(5)Jennifer M.
Our first time to dine here and we were pleased for the most part. The prices were a little high, but the food was good. The rizzoto was a little dry but the grilled Caesar was amazing!
(4)JC C.
Well ......... Took my sweetie here for Valentine's day and got there around 3:30. (Was told on phone Dinner service starts at 3) After I was seated by the Hostess they informed us Dinner started at 4 due to the specials. 4 came and we were informed the "specials" were still in the works and they would not be ready? This was our 1st stop of 3 tonight and it killed the mood right off the bat. We then ordered off the regular menu and the side my Wife had wanted was sold out due to the New menu being prepared. We Luv their food, but we will NOT try them again for special night out events. (Wife even took 1/2 day off work so we could beat the crowd) let's hope that stop 2 lifts up her spirits for tonight.
(3)Leslie C.
Lunch menu is delicious, prices are VERY affordable at lunch. The atmosphere is gorgeous. I highly recommend for a lunch meeting.
