Decided to eat steak and shrimp before a movie. Bad Idea took 1 hour and a half. Food was better then the Fuji yama ! The salad was drowned in dressing . The soup was a simple broth. The steak and shrimp was Bland but ok. For the 24.00 price tag I think I will drive to Memphis to shogun or beni

This place is a bit behind all the other businesses in the area. But, Worth driving around for. As you walk in you have the the waiting area is a very nice size with a bar straight in front of you.. two dining rooms so plenty of seating. I was really craving sushi thats why I choose this place. They sushi selection is about the same as any other place around.. Seriously its West TN... I ordered the Spicy crunchy tuna and the Volcano Roll. They Spicy Tuna came out looking the same as every spicy tuna I had every ordered but the taste was very good.. The Volcano roll came out like no roll I had ever seen.. I do apologize now that I didn't take a picture but I was seriously starving.. LOL... It was like the took the roll and placed it in a pyramid shape then loaded it down with crap meat and scallops and topped it spicy mayo. I was unsure how to tackle it, but again I was starving so I just jumped in to it and I have to say the taste was wonderful.. I will be back... thats a promise.. Oh and the price was very reasonable for the amount of food you get.

I've loved Asahi for years. Whenever I venture out to the Jackson area, I usually end up here. The sushi is really great and very original. The presentation is beautiful. I love the decor here as well. Definitely worth a try.

My favorite restaurant in Jackson. Also the only place I will get sushi. Their sushi tastes better than anywhere else I've been. I'm partial to the Angel Roll, but I've tried several rolls and all of them were very good. The Godzilla Roll is amazing also, just HUGE!

I have come to this restuarant for several years beginning when it was at the address posted on Yelp (1869 Hwy 45 Byp). Several years ago they moved to their current address (1364 Vann Dr). The food has been consistently good as have the waitstaff. Tonight's experience was typical. Since I was alone I was quickly seated. There were already people seated around the workstation and when the waiter brought their drinks, he took my drink order. He brought my drink and since the seats were filled, he took everyone's food order. The chef came out shortly checked our orders and began his show. The show was good, but just the standard Hibachi Grill show with no surprises except for tricking the young boy in the corner. Since the chef is cooking 8-12 courses to order and it is necessary to wait on the waiter/waitress, the meal took, as usual, over at an hour. No matter what, everyone's food was done at about the same time. My food was cooked well. I would have preferred a miso soup instead of the standard house soup. My lobster was very slightly overcooked. My shrimp and scallops were fine. I have had the steak in the past, but was not in the mood for it this time. When I had steak, it was always excellent. I have never tried the chicken. The sauces they supply help the flavor, but the sauces need to have more kick. The restuarant is divided into two dining areas with the entrance and bar in between. One side is for Hibachi dining and the other is for sushi dining and it is difficult to mix the two when ordering. However, I have seen people on the Hibachi side get a sushi appetizer.

We went there today for Fathers Day. We had 9 people including children there to eat. My wife and I and our kids were not going to eat Hibachi but, 4 of our party were going to.. Long story short the server told my wife and I that we "had to" order from the Hibachi menu and was very rude about it. He was rude to my brother and sister in law and we had to remind him to get us the fried rice that we ordered for our little boys. He's lucky they charge 18% gratuity on parties of 8 or more because he would have recieved nothing. It basically ruined my Fathers Day lunch and honestly the Sushi is below average at best there anyway. I only gave two stars because my brother said their Hibachi was decent.

Asahi is a common hibachi/sushi house combo. with a menu that isn't very out of the ordinary. You've got your usual hibachi fare (chicken, steak, lobster, fried rice, veggies) and then a basic sushi menu with a few specialty rolls. The food is good and I often find myself craving their Tennessee Roll, Yellowtail Roll, and Eel Roll. And for you vegetarians, their Vegetable Roll is pretty darn good as well. Their beverage menu is pretty nice, featuring your regular beers and sake. They have several mixed drinks and they almost never skimp on the alcohol, which is a definite plus when you're paying such ridiculous prices for those fruity little concoctions. One other thing I enjoy about Asahi is that there are separate dining rooms for the hibachi goers and the sushi goers. I enjoy a good smoking onion volcano and eyebrow singeing from time to time, but every once in a while I just wanna eat my raw fish without a sideshow, and thankfully Asahi accommodates me. There is also a large lounge located in the center of the house, again, conveniently separated from both dining rooms. It's dark and very... well, very lounge-like and has several flat-screen tvs hung around the room. So if you're a person who's just looking to have a drink and maybe watch a game, then Asahi has got you covered. The only negative I can really mention about Asahi is their service. The staff isn't rude by any means but they're never quite all there. They lack enthusiasm and they often come across as lethargic and discombobulated. Maybe they're just overworked. Asahi is a pretty large establishment after all. But if they can find a way to remedy the wonky service then this restaurant would be virtually blemish free- excluding of course the eighteen-thousand screaming babies people bring with them on Saturday night. But I realize Asahi can't really do anything about that.. unless they decide to start tossing those little tear factories onto the hibachi to cook alongside the fried rice. Kidding.
