Pretty decent Meat N Three up in Hendersonville. I've been here a couple of times, based on the recommendation of "Chris G." I try to eat at all non-chain places when I'm out and about and was really looking forward to this place. I can say that it is quaint, has a no-frills ambiance, and the service is excellent. The food is good, but not amazing. I always measure cuisine like this to my grandmother's cooking, and damn, she made some great Southern food. And as an added bonus, she grew up in Texas, so had amazing Tex-Mex skills; her home-made tamales were incredible. Anyway, the food here, while good, is a little on the bland side, which is kind of a drag. I also was a little let down by the "Mexican Cornbread", I've had this and made it myself, and the stuff that I've had there has been kind of dry, which is a bit of a bummer. I do agree with Chris that the Lemon Icebox Pie is solid. Not bad, but not worth a trip up here if you are specifically going for this place.

Uhmm, lets, see.. what can I say.. Well, I ordered off of the breakfast menu, bacon, soft scrambled eggs with cheese grits and biscuits with coffee.. The coffee was pretty good. My soft scrambled eggs were hard as those hockey pucks they called biscuits!! The bacon was dry and overcooked. I am so disappointed in this place. But, I suppose it finally had to happen. My first bad restaurant experience in Tennessee. Well Ruby's Kitchen wins that prize!!! I will not be going back here! Just awful!

I had hopes this would be a good "meat and three." If vegetables out of a can and rolls from the grocery store shelf are okay with you, then you'll like this place. My last attempt, and I gave them several tries, was when I went for breakfast and was so hungry! The eggs were overcooked and the hash browns were undercooked. It's really hard to ruin breakfast, but they did that day. I won't be back. I agree with Lisa M that the servers aren't the friendliest in the world either. Not even charmingly rude like you see on tv.

The services was great. Friendly and on top of filling up our tea!! Kept check in on us. The bad part was the food. I have ate breakfast here before and it was great I don't know what happened and I've eaten lunch here and never had a complaint but this am the food was not good I got the ruby special which was two eggs, country ham toast, home style fries and a small bowl of grits. The ham was so so salty, the toast was so hard I couldn't chew it. The home style fries were almost burnt on the outside and not done on the inside. So I ordered take home for my daughters and I ordered three orders of grits which were a dollar and some change a piece. So I went to pay and my husband grabbed the to go food. So when I get home there was only one small cup of grits and the girls were like where are my grits ( looking at the small cup)? So I called the restaurant and they in formed me that all three were in the small cup so I feel that it's expensive . I know for sure I will never go back for breakfast I guess I'll have to check out the Red Rooster and I don't know that I Will go back for lunch ..

Service was not good, it appears if your a "regular" you are waited on and severed before anyone else. What happens when the regulars pass on or stop coming... You have no business because you ignored your other customers. Servers can't handle more than one table at a time or just don't care to. Can't speak to the food because no one ever came to take my order.

I would give more stars if it wasn't for the horrible servers, especially the northern blonde headed woman. She is so rude, runs around huffing and puffing, yelling "coming thru, look out!", she's all sweaty and mean. She must be a relative of the owners cause no one would hire this woman!! The food is pretty good and we like the atmosphere, but this particular server needs to be talked to!!

Lunch was not the good I felt like it was heated food out of a can. I doubt I'll go back for lunch I do want to try the breakfast I hear it's much better.

I have loved the food at Ruby's for years. Ruby is lady who owned the Mason Jar for years and the food is just as good now as it was then. The sweet tea is done right and the spinach casserole is always a must. I told Daniel B about the Mexican cornbread so I have to say again how awesome it is. The one thing that has not been mentioned is that desert here is worth the stop by itself. Now people will tell you that the chocolate pie is good and the banana pudding is amazing but forget all that. Let me introduce you to what you will now just call" the single best desert you have ever had". Say it with me slow so it will sink in... Lemon... Icebox.... Pie.... This my friends is a little bit of Heaven. In fact you owe me for telling you about this place.

I had some high hopes from here - it just looked like one of those little hidden gems tucked away in more of an office strip center than a retail strip center. The place was crammed full but I have come to realize that really doesn't mean a lot these days. There are a lot of people that will eat almost anything put in front of them and think it is good. The food wasn't bad, it just wasn't great and my expectations had been high. The fried chicken was just okay. The sides were less than memorable. Like so many places, everything seemed under-seasoned. I have come to the conclusion that if there are too many senior seniors, I probably should count on the food being under-seasoned.

Five Stars for being what a Meat and Three should be! In terms of a true meat and three...the only thing missing is the old method of serving from a cafeteria style line. In terms of what a meat and three should be: Food: Incredible down home country cooking. Lot's of butter and flavor! Want some gravy? It's poured on a plenty! Ambiance: Take a seat at a plastic cloth table and drink from a glass your sweet tea! Need a refill? No worries, the friendly sweet southern waitress left the pitcher on your table for you to help yourself. Speed: Order and you eat within 3-5 minutes. Bread: Trust me, get the Mexican Cornbread! Yep, that's it...Mexican Cornbread is a corncake with some Jalapeno's. Hmm! Price: Silly Cheap. Can't wait to go back.
