Really good location in the middle of Hendersonville... This was a Pizza Hut when I was growing up but after if became La Loma, it was one of my favorite spots. The menu pretty standard Mexican fare but it's not bad... Especially for the price! The most expensive items are the seafood dishes, but most everything else on the menu is under $10 or around there. Cheapest fish tacos in town... But also the best!

Ate lunch here today with family members and this place is truly a mixed bag. My sizzling chicken fajitas were served sizzling with a generous portion of rice and beans, sour cream and guacamole. They were excellent and I would definately order them again. My niece got a burrito and was not expecting it to be swimming in red sauce. Same with the nephew's quesadilla, also served swimming in red sauce. When I say red sauce, I mean red sauce, as in straight out of a can tomato sauce watered down. The chips served when you sit down were nice and hot, thin, crisp delicious. My lunch special fajitas were only $6.95 and service was fast, friendly and efficient. Chips were refilled without our having to ask. If you are not a fan of sauce, make sure to tell the server you don't want the sauce as it seems to be the default garnish for everything they serve. Worth a try!

The place is a kind of a hole in the wall and older than some but good food. Its a lot better than some Mexican restaurants I've been to. There are several in Hendersonville and besides Sopapillas, this one may be my favorite sit down. The mini chimichangas are my favorite and the salsa does have more flavor than some. It doesn't just taste like canned tomatoe sauce. The portions are huge too. The only thing that was a turnoff at first was the smell but since then it's gone and the decor is a little dated. I also wish they had white corn tortilla chips, bc they are more crispy. Most places serve the thick yellow corn ones.

It's nothing fancy, but the food is good and well-priced. Much better than the other popular Mexican restaurant in town.

OK it's not that bad, except they have to smother everything in queso.

The worst margaritas I've ever had. $26 for a pitcher of "Top Shelf". It tasted like the cheapest neon green margarita mix you can find at a gas station. Also, There was little to no tequila in it. Food was inexpensive but not so great. Service was slow considering that we were the only table in the place. Hands down the worst Mexican restaurant in Hendersonville.

Not a place to stop at based on looks but that's why I tried it out sort of a hole in the wall but I like Mexican restaurants like that if they have mints and chiclets for sale at the register I know I won't be disappointed, great for a quick lunch order out in minutes had the Flautas lunch special one chicken one beef both very good and had good salsa and that's important, would definitely eat there again

A lot of suburban American Mexican restaurants are the same thing town-to-town under different names with the same basic offerings. La Loma doesn't veer far outside of the usual pattern, but they do have a menu with several unique items and the staples are really well done also. The prices are cheap, the service was good when I was last there. Good food.

Hot, fresh chips that come with salsa to start. I have a weakness for chips and salsa, so maybe I'm easy to please here, but I thought they were good. The few times I've been, I've only tried the tortilla soup and the caldo de pollo (chicken soup). They've always been piping hot and yummy. The service is always good, and you can't beat their prices. When I try an entree in the future, I might upgrade to a 5 if it's exceptional.

While I've never had great food or service here, the meal today was really below standard. Starting with the freezer burned chile relleno, the chimicanga that took forever (my friend didn't receive her food until 10 minutes after everyone else) and fairly weak taco's (compared to other Mexican restaurants in the area), I'd recommend looking for an alternative.

The chicken soup was so salty and for me inedible. I give 3 stars for the chips and Dos Equis on tap. Daughter had a delicious talapia dinner that we all shared.

Pros: Good pricing and selection, typical Mexican restaurant atmosphere, good service. Cons: Typical Mexican restaurant. There isn't much innovation here (for better or worse.) In short, if you have been to a Mexican restaurant before, you will not be surprised. But you won't be disappointed.

Very good mexican restaurant, every time I stay in Hendersonville, this is my favorite place to eat, I've ordered diferent dishes and so far have not been disappointed. Good size portions, great taste and reasonable prices.

This place blows.I knew when I walked in the front door and immediately found myself in the middle of their waiting area/candy store /makeshift bar that I was in for a rare dining experience. The "decor" was disgusting, the lighting depressing, the dining area dirty. The chips are definitely not fresh, the salsa runny, the food bland and unimaginative. My margarita tasted like pine sol. On top of all that, the dining room is so loud that you can't even have a decent conversation- even when the place is empty, which it most likely will be.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
