I almost hate to yelp this place because the place is already crowded whenever I go for lunch. You'll have to look for it - it's up the road from the Police Department and across the street from a church. Look for the cars and trucks parked in every nook and cranny around a small "house" on a corner. Try the beans all the way - pinto bean soup with beef stew added. I know - it sounded wierd to me too - but it is great! The cornbread is pretty good, too. Go for a Hobart burger with the beans and you'll have a full meal. You ask how much I like this place. . . One Saturday I drove my wife over 90 minutes just to eat lunch here - beans all the way and a Hobart. My wife even loved it!

The food is great here, but I have one major complaint! They owners seat local/regulars first even if you got there before them. That's pretty sad. It took us 1 hour to get our food but the people behind us got their food in 30 minutes while they arrived after us! I'm not sure I'll go back next time!

What more can you say but fantastic. You need to be prepared for this palace. Please do NOT think that this is a class "A" restaurant. If you want good cooking at a good price this is for you.

What can I say. Great beans and fries. Good prices also. Always crowded. Whenever I am in town I always come here.

Although this was my second trip to the Bean Barn -- the first over a year ago -- I brought my husband with me this time. He LOVED it. We sat on stools at the counter, the best way to experience the vintage flavor of the family-run restaurant and have a chat with the owners. Everyone was helpful and friendly. The menu is limited and pleasantly straightforward, featuring "soup beans" as the main attraction. We ordered them "all the way" which includes onions (lots of them) and stew (a couple of potatoes?). My husband had been introduced to this tasty, southern specialty a few years ago when visiting a plant where he handles IT issues in nearby Limestone. We're from the Chicago area and hadn't heard of them prior to his first tasting. The Bean Barn's version were hot, soupy, well-seasoned and just overall, satisfying, especially with a slab of cornbread on the side. Some dip and some crumble it in. I chose to dip. Yum. This probably would have been enough for my lunch, but we both wanted to try the Hobart burger. We ordered the "junior" version with one beef patty, cheese, lettuce, tomato, and smoked ham. They seem to put mayonnaise on everything down here, so I followed suit, and it was the perfect combination of flavors. The crinkle-cut fries (I prefer shoe string) had to have been fried in some combination of oil and lard because they had that addictive extra flavor which only a sizzling dip in meat fat can offer. Duck fat can also do the trick. They knew we weren't from around here, in part, because we ordered our iced tea unsweetened. When we opened our mouths, too, it was clear that we weren't Tennessee folk, lacking that special, southern lilt. My husband is already planning his next trip back -- this time for breakfast biscuits and country ham. Maybe some gravy. Open from 7 until 2. Weekends are for playing with the grand-babies. As it should be.

Don't miss small local place. Restaurant filled with antiques you look t while you wait. Try an order of beans with onions and a cheesburger. For your bread selection that comes with the beans, ask for your cornbread done on the griddle.
