Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

We where on a road trip on our way back from Tampa about half way we ended up staying the night at a La Quinta just north of Nashville kinda of in the middle of nowhere (sorry Goodlettsville) We still needed to eat and the Lady at the La Quinta said Try Pancho Villa Grill that is located just in front of the hotel. Great call a all Mexican evening hotel and Dinner. I was shocked by how good this place was, once again sorry Goodlettsville. Excellent guacamole and salsa both had a little spice to them. Chicken nachos, melted cheese grilled chicken basic but excellent and the quality of the chicken was awesome and very tasty. Dinner we had chicken fajita salad served in a fried tortillas bowl, once again the chicken was awesome the bowl was crisp and tasty. We also had steak tacos steak was tender and flavorful another surprise was how good the beans where they where creamy and had a little chicken flavor to them so good. This place uses quality ingredients and makes some pretty tasty Mexican food and did it all for take out 15 minutes before closing. If Pancho Villa Grill was in Chicago I know I would be a regular. We picked up but the restaurant looks like nice place to dine and has a outdoor patio for nice weather and fun atmosphere inside. Great prices too, if you are on a road trip thru Goodlettsville definitely make a pit stop here.

They got the flavor button on Yummy! Tonight I just drove in from Houston, Texas. I had seen many highway miles; and was hungry tired & desiring carbs. This lovely Restraunt was steps away from my hotel. Man, best choice of the night. I ordered off the side menus, a beef Chiluba and a bean burrito. Coming from Texas, I prepared myself for a disappointment in authentic flavor. I was wrong. Bam! Not only great food but warm service in a busy but joyful noise place. It's loud so just eat and talk later with your dining companion because the food is that good. My amazing spouse had the taco salad that consisted of, guacamole and yummy goodness. Very filling. We are so weary from our all day & night journey but who knew refreshment would come this close. Amen. Please visit this place. Check out the side items and the desserts. (We skipped the rich deserts ( fried Icecream & flan) need to instead sleep) I joked, I hope this establishment serves breakfast, because they have got the flavor button right on yummy! Great job & thanks for feeding two weary travelers from Houston.

This is a family favorite! Service has always been great for us. Food has always been good. The prices are reasonable and there is a great atmosphere. They have great lunch specials that are very reasonably priced, as well as great dinner options. They have the best rice and beans. This is our go to Mexican restaurant.

We were very disappointed. Everything was bland and flavorless.

This used to be a favorite place of ours, the food and service used to be great but now we refuse to go back. Both the food and service is on the decline. Some things that come to mind recently was when they brought Huevos Rancheros out looking like the eggs were cooked for three days instead of being over easy as I had ordered them. Or, the last time I was there and they had me wait 45 minutes for a simple "to-go" order. When they brought it out it was not complete and when the server brought out the beans and rice he placed a hot container in my hand. The last straw was having them watch as I unpacked and re-bagged my order myself. One other thing that bugs me is that they used to put cilantro in their salsa, now it just seems like canned tomatoes out of a food processor. If you want good Mexican food and some non-Americanized options, go to Casa Vieja, that is our new favorite spot.

This is not your place if you love Mexican food and seek out the best. This is simply good in a pinch, very quick, extremely mild, Americanized, uneventful and non adventurous.

This joint looks half decent from the outside, at least compared to the other spots around town. The waiter we had was mumbling and not exactly amiable. He is sitting down right now chatting with his friends instead of waiting on customers. Lot more service oriented places around here than this. One reviewer said they are flexible on the menu, well, I saw that and asked for a custom combination plate and he begrudgingly obliged and shot down one option. Now the other waiter is sitting at the table with their friends and texting on his phone. There are at least 6 different tables with customers. The food was half decent though, not the worst in this area. My friend who lives here recommends Casa Vieja which is in Hendersonville--six exits east, and that place is WAY better. Best in the area and much nicer venue. Better prices even. If my colleague who is married to a Mexican approves, u know it's good.

it will do. the food isnt bad but its kinda standard and boring and could use some love. its las palmas without las palmas shrimp taco salad, thats the only reason i gave las palmas four stars. maybe i could look harder for something special but meh el rey azteca on old hickory blvd is just better

My family and I eat there at least once a week. Staff is friendly and eager to please. . . hint, they will prepare a dish anyway you wish if you have ideas of your own about which sauce is better than the original menu choice. For the plain fare, I prefer the chicken over the ground beef but don't pass up a chance at the Fajita Pancho Villa with Grilled Chicken, Steak, Shrimp and Chorizo. My wife prefers the Santa Fe Chicken which is grilled chicken breast topped with cooked onions, mushrooms, tomatoes, bell peppers and jack cheese. You know the salsa is hand made fresh every day as there is always a little suspense at our table about it being hot, spicy, or "tomatoey" but it is always good.

OK, lets get something out of the way, my reviews are based on expectations fulfilled in addition to being a standalone review otherwise how would a small indescript place ever hope to compete against a huge budget behemoth, obviously a little side of the highway mexican restaurant is not going to compete with my local Rick Bayless place for exotic mexican dishes or Carnivale for atmosphere but one wouldn't really expect that from a small town restaurant serving $7.95 dinner PLATTERS,would they, that said i always try to make it a point to stop at this place on my FL drive and it has NEVER failed to be delicious and have extremely friendly service from the mexican staff...the Margaritas are well mixed flavorwise and the food is better than any chain restaurant ...i usually spend the night at the Motel 6 across the street and wake up and have some delicious Jack in the Box(located next door) in the morning, what could be better...if you're lucky, maybe the waiter will call you "amigo" too
