We came right when it opened on a Sunday but that place filled in quick! It's a hibachi restaurant and it's the best one in Hendersonville/Goodlettsville (it's one of the best in Nashville area actually!) Our server was attentive but our hibachi chef made the experience really great. His name was Raegan (sp?!). We sat with a family that's been there since their kids were born and the kids just adore him. Their food is great! It gets really busy so make sure you get there early. They have a salad bar too that comes with your meal so that was cool. Definitely will be coming back here!

I was in a sushi mood one weekend and so I had it at two different places in two days. Sorry, not sorry. But I'm weird in the fact that I'm not really a fan of raw fish, so I guess take my opinion with a grain of salt if you're a hardcore sushi fanatic. This place is a typical hibachi style restaurant, and my brother and I came here a couple Saturdays ago around 5:30 so it wasn't too busy yet. Although by the time we left, there were people circling the parking lot waiting for a place to park. But most people were waiting for the hibachi tables, the sushi area where we were wasn't hardly busy at all. We started out with the crab rangoon, which was not too bad. Then I got the shrimp tempura roll and the Mexican roll, which had like avocado and crab and some spicy sauce. The shrimp tempura roll was just good, but the Mexican roll was great. I liked the spiciness of it, and I'm not a huge fan of spicy foods so it wasn't over the top. Then my brother and I split the Tennessee roll, which is deep fried, and that was pretty good too. I'm still trying to find a place down here that's comparable to a really good sushi place I had back home in Illinois. This is a pretty decent place if you're in the mood for sushi (or hibachi for that matter) and is reasonably priced. Would recommend if you don't really have any better options.

Always have great service at the Hibachi grill and the sushi bar! Yummy! Half price sushi on Tuesdays is a favorite of mine. Each chef has his own flair and is fun to watch.

I have good & bad news. The GOOD news is that the food was absolutely delicious. The BAD news is that our overall experience was only 3 stars. We arrived at a non-busy time (2:00pm) for a late lunch, we were seated quickly but it took FOR-E-VER (45 min) for our food to arrive and it wasn't even a difficult order.

Eat here often when I'm in town! Have never had a bad meal here. Typically have the teriyaki chicken, always tender and tasty. Veggies are always good. Fried rice, egg rolls, California roll and salad always spot on!!!

Love this place, sushi is awesome and fresh and love the hibachi grill, the cooks and waitresses are always friendly and love the atmosphere.

This is by far the best Japanese habachi grill in the area. The consistency here is what really sets this place apart. We have been regulars here for years and remember why when ever we go to a different Japanese habachi grill. The food is awesome and the customer service is good as well.

Not that good and was very disappointed. High high high salt and everything tasted the same. Shrimp...chicken...steak...It all tasted the same.

Great service. The food was amazing and they give you soooo much! Had the chicken and shrimp. Typical hibachi show tricks.

Yummy! This place is great. The sushi was fresh and delicious, I had the rainbow roll and I really enjoyed it. I also had the miso soup and egg rolls. They were decent. I ordered the hibachi filet for lunch and it was a decent portion for 12 bucks. The filet was very juicy and tender but lacking in the flavor dept. I doused mine in the ginger sauce. I went back the same weekend and had the hibachi scallops and filet. Prices go up for dinner of course but the portion size in comparison to the lunch for the price was underwhelming. $75 for two hibachi dinners and a rainbow roll. A bit on the pricey side , I mean it was good but I have had better.

I have been going to this place since it opened. And every time I go it gets worse and worse. The food amount has went drastically down. They don't do the shrimp appetizer any more. And the more i go the more and more we feel rushed through dinner.

I think this is the best hibachi grill on the north side of Nashville. Everything they cook is very tasty and their yum yum sauce is great. The lunch price is about half the price of dinner so keep this in mind when searching for a bargain

This is a great standard hibachi restaurant. Recommend the sushi bar area. Awesome lunch.

I really enjoy Japanese food and Hibachi dining. I've been to almost every place in town. This review is based on two lunch experiences in the last few months. Hibachi can get expensive, so going for lunch at about half the price is a great option. No wait to be sat by the hostess. And the waitress was also very quick to bring drinks. I would also like to note that I LOVED that they did not try to seat each spot at the table or keep you waiting to put more people at the table. I've had both of these things happen at every other hibachi restaurant. Kabutos did not disappoint. This was the only restaurant of this style that I've been to that has a salad bar. I really like the salad though I only had the lettuce and traditional dressing. The salad bar was clean and kept refreshed. After finishing the last of my second bowl of yummy salad, the chef was there and and proceeded to prepare excellent fried rice, veggies, and everyone's entrees. The chicken teriyaki is great! He was also very happy to make sure everyone had all the sauces they wanted. In fact, I had never heard of two sauces he actually prepared hot on the grill. I liked the fact that the to-go boxes are located in each room because everyone finishes their meal at a different time and can box their leftovers (which there's always plenty) when they are ready. Of course, the waitress does offer boxes when she's presenting the checks, and will even bring containers to hold sauce. Again, things may move a little differently at dinner, but I highly recommend this place. I look forward to trying the sushi side and reviewing it also.

Dissatisfied. I went on a Tuesday around 4:30, I went the seating area (to the right), not the other area (to the left). No one was in there except a waitress (who was very friendly) and a bartender. It obviously got busier as I sat there. There were a few times I think she forgot about me, but to her defense, they only only had one waitress. The two stars is for the following. The place was old, seats were torn, bathrooms a mess, soap dispensers falling off. I mean, if a restaurant any keep the area the customer sees clean, can they keep the area the customer DOESN'T see clean (the kitchen) - I don't know. This reason removed 1 star. The other two were as follows: 1. The ran out of what I wanted. :( sure, it happens, ok. So I ordered the Bang Bang Shrimp. 2. The Bang Bang shrimp. Not sure if it is a legal term for a specific kind of food, but Bonefish Grille has BangBang shrimp for $10 and you get atl east 25 pieces of shrimp swimming in a fantastic sauce. Now obviously I am not here to rate Bonefish, but his place charged $7 and you got 7 pieces of shrimp. The bang sauce was extremely watered down, with a puddle in the bottom of the bowl. The picture attached shows the appetizer in question. 3. Weirdly, they had no hot water when washing your hands. No idea why, but there seemed to be a running joke from the patrons of the men's room that night. All in all, staff was very friendly, the food tasted good for the most part. I really liked the high backs in the booths, just wish they were updated.

Delicious food! Dinner (4pm and after) portions are huge at the hibachi grill! They're also super nice to their pregnant customers! Sent me home with an extra salad and extra veggies. :)

Have patience as it takes a while to be seated, even with a reservation. It took even longer to receive green tea. We were never asked about dessert either. That being said, the chef was good and the food was tasty.

I love Hibachi! I usually only go to only one hibachi place but my fiances work took us to this place. So I figured free? sure I will try it. The prices seems great, maybe even a little cheaper than the one I frequent. They give you a lot of food too. The glasses your beverage ( not alcoholic ) come in big glasses and free refills, unlike the hibachi I am use to. The soup was delish. The salad was ok, the dressing was runny and there was a lot of it. The chef was funny and did all the normal tricks. I ordered the Chicken and Krab, the fiance orders Filet Mignon and Lobster tail. All four were really good. Their "chinese ketchup" was the best I have had. Veggies and rice were delish too. We also shared a sushi roll which was good and fresh. I opted out of the noodles but I did hear a friend say they didnt like the noodles because they had too much curry in them. IDK. Their full bottles of sake are reasonably priced too. They have a big selection of desert too. We shared a slice of cheese cake, Oh My! It was moist, rich, and delish! Others in our party had a fried ice cream type of thing which was HUGE, some had green tea ice cream which they said was good, and someone had a piece of Chocolate cake which was huge and looked rich and delish but looked as if it may have been a little frozen still. All in all this place is really good and worth a try if you are in that area but given the fact I passed my own personal favorite hibachi grill to get to this one, I probably wont make the travel again just to eat here but if I am in Goodlettsville I will definately keep it in mind and it is located right off the interstate for easy access.

Imma man up and just declare this the best Hibachi style place in Nashville metro. Kinda sad its gotta be in Henderson/Goodlettes-villes. But, if like my friends - a few of yours always wanna celebrate birthdays at Hibachi grills, recommend this one to them. Paul K.s complaint about the multiple birthday songs is well, retarded, because every time I go to this style of place is for - you guessed it - some sort of celebration. Americans just love to celebrate with an asian guy who can juggle an egg into his hat, what can I say? I am not exactly an authority on what makes good hibachi, but I have eaten at at least 5 in the general vicinity and guess what? This HIbachi can actually cook the meat something other than well done! AMAZING! I will take that trick over a tired onion volcano any day. (but Kabuto did make the soy sauce boil out pretty frickin' far - kudos for that.) Kabutos house salad dressing is a little different than the typical ginger dressing you usually get at these places, more garlicy. Me likey. The soup was just 'okay' but did include tiny pieces of fried onion which got all soggy. The taste was good, but I'm a texture person too. I ordered sushi and that was pretty average, I dipped mine into the delectable ginger soy type dressing they supplied me with in the beginning to take it up a notch. Onto the rice, beef and shrimp? ALL GREAT! As I mentioned before, I've NEVER gotten my meat done perfectly medium due to the chunks they dice it up into, but it was perfect here! The amount of food you receive is ridiculous, rice AND noodles? sheesh. The decor is actually pretty nice. Its broken up into rooms with 4 hibachi grills in each. The outside of the building is actually really kinda pretty and japanese themed. Cool for the part of town its in. A landmark in Goodlettesville, I am sure. Service was decent. Sure, our waitress didn't seem to be the happiest gal in the world, but our appetizers came out timely and we always had drinks. Eh, fine by me. Chef was friendly and personable. With a $5 coupon my husband and I left stuffed for $25. Take the extra 15 minutes and eat in the 'burbs over West End for Hibachi! (I doubt I'll ever say that again ;))

This was our first time going and I have to say I LOVED this place! We went at 2:30 on a Sunday and were able to take advantage of their lunch prices which was AWESOME! The food was GREAT and our chef was fun and entertaining especially for the kids. We will defintely be going back! One small problem was their WIFI you couldn't connect to it which was a bummer for my teenage daughter. Hopefully they will get that fixed.

Kabutos is delicious every time we go. Tonight I went with my two sisters and my son ( who is 2) even though I didn't purchase him a meal the chef made sure he got some food and was a part of the experience... Love going and will definitely b back

Gets only 4 on first visit took waitress 25 minutes before anyone came to table to ask for anything. It was a Wednesday night and not real busy. They must have been caught off guard by few more people showing up. Food was great when we finally got it and drinks were good also. Will go back again.

I had been here only once before for lunch, so I decided to go back here for dinner yesterday with my fiance for my birthday. We had a coupon to use and decided to try their hibachi...and we were so glad that we did! Our waitress Jessika was super nice and friendly, and our hibachi chef Gary was awesome! Gary kept the kids entertained at our table (one of the kids mentioned that they liked Spongebob, so Gary used the rice and some extra things to make a shape of Spongebob) and chatted with everyone at the table...even played a game of throwing a piece of food at us to see if we could catch it in our mouths (I did!). My fiance and I ordered the Chicken Teriyaki, the calimari and tilapia, gyoza, and a crunchy crab roll. The hibachi meals came with soup, salad, fried rice, veggies, and 2 pieces of shrimp. Everything was so delicious! I tried some of my fiance's tilapia and loved it so much that I may order it next time we visit here. I told them it was my birthday and they brought out a drum and entertained everyone in the room with singing Happy Birthday to me. :) All in all, it was an amazing experience and I definitely look forward to returning here in the future! :D

I went here with my sister and nephew largely because the reviews were so good, and I know she likes sushi. What a disappointment. I don't like sushi, so I had ordered a shrimp dumpling style appetizer. A) My plate had a whole in it so the soy sauce leaked out of the plate as the dinner went on. B) It was obvious that the shrimp they were using was not fresh. My sister and nephew ordered a handful of sushi items and it was really overpriced for what they ordered. We were on the "non-hibachi" side of the restaurant and there was only one waitress for several tables. It took awhile for our drinks and water to get refilled, our empty plates to be removed and our check to get to our table.

This place is for the masses and caters to birthdays, special occasions, etc. HOWEVER, it holds a special place in my heart since this is where we went to celebrate growing up. I now came as an adult on a whim since friends wanted hibachi and the place has not changed in 10+ years. Food is a bit oily, but I would assume they do that so it will not stick to the scorching grill. Their shtick with flipping the tongs, throwing shrimp, etc is still hilarious- you can have fun here as an adult, believe me, we did. I got the salmon with no teriyaki and they were very accommodating offering different sauces, etc. Portions are HUGE and prices per plate start at around $16 for chicken (I think), which is not bad considering the amount of food. The place could use a little sprucing- the walls were damaged where chairs have hit them, carpet fraying, etc but we had a great time.

It was kind of an odd experience, multiple singings of Happy Birthday, congratulating people for wedding anniversaries, and other events meant the staff was leading a rather loud and well-intentioned audio riot every few minutes. The place was designed as an echo chamber as far as I can tell which meant everyone was having trouble hearing me and oddly I could hear them perfectly. The chef was an interesting fellow, asking 2 guys at the table we were sitting at if this was their coming out party as about the first line out of his mouth. It was ok, but kind of ballsy assuming he did not know them. One of our party thought the waitress was tired of hearing about how he would die if a mushroom touched anything he ate - I didn't pick up on this so uncertain if that was a complaint or if he was just joshing... the place was packed. The cooking show we got was amusing, your standard hibachi chef tricks, he busted a couple of eggs by accident, eh no biggie. This was the first hibachi I've ever been at with people that my food was cooked up and done first, got it, it was tasty but the rice was not ready yet. By the time the rice was on my plate the rice was nuclear hot and the veggie were cooling off, but mixing the two / covering veggies in rice made it perfect. he cooked for the rest of the table and my friend with the mushroom death allergy got his meat and as I was eating I realized they had cooked my veggies, which included mushrooms, before his... he didn't puff up and turn purple, so my guess is they know how to properly prepare for allergic people, that or he's dying now as I write this review, but my guess is they know how to prepare it. Of all the hibachi-side shows I have seen, this ranks at about the 4th best - it was amusing, it entertained, it worked, I like. Of the hibachi food I have had, this was average. Not bad, priced decently, was not a fan of the rice, but was of the veggies, but to each their own. I think it's probably something most people will like, but if you're sensitive to noise bring earplugs. It does get loud.

This was the best hibachi restaurant that I've been to! I ordered the teriyaki chicken. I also had a mai tai, which was delicious! They have a huge mai tai (I forgot the name, sorry) that comes with flame in the middle for $13. I asked for garlic butter to put on my fried rice and had spicy bbq sauce to put on my chicken, Delish!

This place is perfect for what it is. What is it? It's a bad idea to think that one will go here and feel full without spending at least $30. Their Japanese grill show was pretty good, the portions were okay for the price. The atmosphere was more of kitsch rejoinder to an old episode of Threes Company. You know, the kind of episode where one of the gang, overhears some sorted dialogue out of context from behind a Japanese screen. Leading to hi-jinx, half-assery and resolution, the circle of life is complete. Until. It's also a bad idea to assume that when a menu says "crab" they mean "krab", "imitation crab", "crab stick"; or god forbid, "Pollock with a weird petro-chemical-red-stripe embedded in it's heavily processed reformed flesh". So from the start the menu is disingenuous, and misleading On the menu the label "Krab", in an appetizer, then label it "Crab" everywhere else. It's all "Krap"! Consumers understand that there's a shortage of crab. Restaurateurs, have tried to social engineer the public to accept this as inevitable and acceptable. We are all idiots to accept this eco-elitist outcome of the world we live in. At this point my ranting manifesto is pointed at all who read this. To you the restaurateurs, especially the owners of Kabuto. Shame on you, you are deceiving the public and charging a premium for a mislabeled product. Advertise your products exactly what they are, or just don't serve it. You are representing the Japanese culture, a culture which relies on the freshness of their products especially seafood. Real lump crab is a logical alternative to your already dreadful protocol. Raise the price by a dollar, people will understand without hesitation. Your supplier does not run your business. Asian restaurants are the main culprit in this deception, wake up and stop that stupid shit. To the public. You are idiots, if you don't start sending this krap back and complaining to the manager. Do not accept their arguments about limited supply. They need to realign their menu's or step up. Not really worth returning until this changes.

Always a great experience here and have never been let down with their food, service and pricing. I even proposed to my wife here through a fortune cookie and the funny this was that they don't even do fortune cookies so the other people at the table was like "where's mine" LOL She loved it and everyone including the staff participated and made sure the whole thing was seamless. Big thanks again and will eat here every chance we get

So for my fiance's birthday we went here for dinner trying their hibachi for the first time. Having previously been her for sushi, we knew the sushi and fried rice were top notch... as for the Hibachi... The Best in town in my opinion. Seriously, after Benihana (and they win mainly cause they have chicken friend rice and a awesome menu that can't be topped, Kabuto is hands down the best in town because like Benihana they have a great menu, but no hibachi chicken friend rice. The food is really top notch, and seriously, how many places have a seafood combo where you choose the items that make the combo. I had hibachi squid and tilapia. The squid was not some small slap of calamari, but a rather large fillet that when cooked, just melted in the mouth. As for the tilapia... wow, it was so good I felt like I was eating at a five star restaurant. And the service, it was impeccable and amazing. Honestly, even if I end up moving to Franklin, which I plan on doing soon, my fiance and I will gladly make the trek up to Rivergate just to have the amazing food, fun and service that we have only found at Kabuto. It is more than worth the drive from any part of Nashville.

Well, I just had the seaweed salad and the sushi. It was ok. The salad was a little drowned, and the sushi just seemed a little dry--like it wasn't that fresh or something. This place has mostly great reviews. Maybe just I didn't order the right thing.

Great place for entertainment done up as food! These guys play with your food and make it delicious in the meantime! Great date night place for a special evening. Plan on coming hungry because the portions are huge... I mean leftovers for the next day huge. Some chefs are more entertaining than others as there are 4 tables in one large room with each table set up with its own grill. Each chef is assigned to their own particular grill but you can watch the showmanship going on at other grills. Being vegetarian I can't say how over/undercooked their steak, chicken, fish, etc. is cooked but the veggies and rice are great as are the sauces that go with them.

One of the best Japanese Steakhouses I've been to (and I've been to quite a few) in regards to quality, service, price and ambiance. Very friendly staff, reasonable prices, good food quality, and omg they give you a TON of food. Way more than most places. For $22 I got: Soup, Salad, Shrimp App (they gave out about 6-8 per person), sauteed veggies, fried rice, sauteed mushrooms, and I got the Filet/Chicken combo. Came with a ~6oz filet and a good size piece of chicken (which they sauteed with onions and peppers). Then they give you lo mein. The waitress didn't even bother asking if we could handle desert. A lot of menu options, tons of rooms/tables. I was passing through on business, and was happy I stopped here for dinner. Highly recommended.

Had lunch at Kabuto's, a family favorite, again today. Didn't get Regan to cook for us but all these guys are good. Always a treat to see the guys try to out shine each other when they know you are a regular. I just found Bryan K's filtered review and see that we are coming up on the anniversary of his wife's experience. It would be my family's pleasure and honor to buy your family dinner at Kabuto's and thank you for your service to our country.
