There are multiple locations, and found the one on popular and whitestation to be the best experience. Wait wise. This location you can expect to wait at least 45min. The food are the same great Taste. Little pricy.

Always excellent service and quality food. Steve the owner is always making sure you have the best experience possible. Great servers! They have a beer club. The salads are amazing due to the super fresh toppings. The gluten free crust is delicious.

Unbeatable customer service!! --- great example story --- I'm a frequent customer at this specific Mellow Mushroom location for the same reasons most are of any of their locations: one-of-a-kind "Water-raised dough", great pizza, fun atmosphere, etc. But I just came by to pick up my take-out order, and come to find out that they didn't have my $50 order listed at all, as if I had never called in the first place?!?! As soon as they realized that there had been some type of mistake, the cashier, two other employees, and the manager of the restaurant himself all apologized to me and rushed out my order instantly by putting it at the top of the line (called it a "fly order"). While I was waiting, the manager came by to ask me a few questions, not as an interrogation, but just to ensure that this never happened again. He apologized again when he had got all the information and then let me walk out of there free of charge with my full order!!! Like I said at the beginning, I've loved this place for a long time. I drive past 5-6 pizza shops to come here, brought my parents here when they came in town OVER MEMPHIS BBQ JOINTS!! (which is blasphemy around here!); and this was all before this story ever took place. So thanks again to the whole staff and I strongly recommend this place to anyone who'll listen!! PS - go for their buffalo pizza and/or pepperoni! Can't go wrong with either one!

This place always has really good pizza and pleasant service. Yes, it is a chain, but the quality is so much better than the other large pizza conglomerates! I had the gluten free white pizza and it was so delicious! If I'm going to eat pizza (rarely), then this is my go-to place. They also carry local brews, and you can do a beer flight if you're interested. Plus, a big bonus, they are one of the few restaurants that have a large outdoor seating area. I love eating outside when the weather is nice!

I'm really fond of eating/drinking here. I've been to both the Germantown branch and the Poplar branch. I prefer the crowd in Germantown (a lot less kids and much more older people). Both places have awesome decor though! For starters, the food is amazing! Their pizzas are delicious. My favorites are the Kosmic Karma, Holy Shiitake Pie, and the Magical Mystery Tour. Oh so very good! There's something about their crust that I absolutely LOVE. If you're not a fan of pizza, I also highly recommend their salads. Pretty big portions whether you go for the regular salad or the small salad. They also have a pretty good selection of beers on tap. So all in all, really good place to eat. The service is a little iffy sometimes. The poplar branch usually has a horrendous wait time in the evenings just to be seated. Super loud and crowded with families. So it takes the servers a while to get to you, and it takes a while for you to get your order. It's not as bad in Germantown, but it still gets crowded, so the servers are often a little absent-minded and in a hurry to take your order and leave. They also don't check on you that often because they're swamped! The manger in the Germantown branch is super nice and attentive. He always comes by and asks if everything is okay or if we need anything. So that's pretty cool. One thing to consider about Mellow Mushroom is that it is quite pricy!! I'm talking at least 20$ for a medium pizza. About 13$ for small. So this is not a place that you can frequent often without putting a dent in your budget. So when do I come here you ask?! On Mondays! Why? For their awesome trivia of course! Highly recommend coming here just for that! So. Much. Fun. And incredibly unique with fun prizes throughout. And the guy running it is hilarious. So definitely pop by at some point for that! It's great for groups so bring friends because it will increase your chances of winning.

This is the first time I have been to the Mellow Mushroom. I went on a Saturday afternoon and they were pretty busy and had a 20-25 minute wait to sit inside. The weather was nice so we decided to sit outside since it was empty. There patio sitting is really nice. I loved their decorative tree, its too cute. After we choose our seats, our waiter came along with some water. He was really nice and pretty helpful. To start we ordered the Meatball Trio. I thought they were just okay, nothing special or memorable about them. For entrees I ordered the house calzone and my sister ordered a cheese pizza with green and black olives. I thought the calzone was also just okay. It tasted good however it was very soggy as though it wasn't cooked all the way. Usually all the calzones i've eaten are formed better and are pretty crispy. However, on a positive note my sister really liked her pizza. Overall, for me this place was just okay. I've had better food at other places but I will admit that the customer service was on point.

Unfortunate. Great server at the bar, bekah, but food/pizza was horrible. Calzone was even worse. Completely undercooked dough. I mean COMPLETELY. It was by far the worst pizza I've had I awhile. They were busy obviously but someone in the kitchen is not paying attention to food going out. My calzone was as if it didn't even touch heat. Plus the overboard cheese in it didn't help anything. It was basically cheese dough uncooked. I'm a fan of mellow mushroom as it's about as close as you get to real pizza from the Yankee side of the border and I will of course return because I believe in second chances. Maybe when it's not so busy and maybe specify that I want a crispy dough.

I don't think I've ever had a bad experience at any of the Mellow Mushrooms in Memphis, I'll say. This particular location on Poplar has been wonderful in that, I have ordered catering for our entire office here twice(so far). Both times were VERY simple, the manager Chase being very dependable and helpful (and understanding when I needed to reschedule), and the man who delivered both times was so energetic and kind (his name was Carey, or Cary?) Mellow Mushroom has gotten their catering down to a science and literally bring everything you need, no mistakes or forgotten items. I have ordered significantly smaller orders from other local restaurants to be brought in for lunch meetings, and have had to run back out to get forgotten things or correct food. So, when someone get's it right- it's nice.I always suggest MM as a first choice when getting catering for office celebrations, everyone loves it. The big salads are delicious and perfectly green loaded with toppings (and came with several different dressings).. and as always, the pizzas were perfect. Thank you guys for your hard work in not only walk-in customers, but catering as well. We appreciate it and already look forward to the next time we get to bring MM in the office!

Hot damn, this place is expensive. $20 for a gluten free 12" pizza? That's one kid, who wants lobster? Truthfully it is expensive and gluten free is always more expensive, but this is the best gluten free pizza crust I've ever eaten! Honestly, this is just a nicer pizza joint in the area, and they have good solid food and pretty good service. It is kid-friendly, but that doesn't mean you should let your kids run around like it's Lord of the Flies. Keep them in their seats, please, at every restaurant. I recommend the Holy SHiitake, which is loaded with mushrooms, truffle oil, and great cheeses. They have a nice beer selection which will help the lunch along. Were I younger, I'd come for trivia night, because, by the names of the winners, it sounds like a fun bunch.

I fully did not intend to write a review going in there, however the experience is forcing me to. I walked in about 8 or 830 on a Sunday night. There were about 25 people there. They sat me right away in the bar at a table with a great view of 2 TV's that had the football game on. I was greeted quickly by the bartender. Her name was Becka. I was referred here by a friend and had no idea what they offered so Becka quickly gave me a rundown of the goods. I had a coke to drink although they had about 15 beers on tap. I ordered the meatball appetizer by Becka's recommendation. She put that in and came back to check on my order. They have a ton of different pizzas...and being a guy from Chicago. ..I know about some pizzza! She said I could do half and half which quickly made up my mind. I went for the gourmet white and Maui Wowie...halfsies. Now, I think Maui Wowie is a type of weed that is grown in Hawaii...and I wouldn't know anything about that...however, this pizza that bares the same name is no freaking joke. The meatballs came out on a plate with nice presentation. 3 huge meatballs sliced in half with a chunk of fresh mozzarella in between and held together with skewers. The 3 skewers rested on a bed of marinara sauce. The result? An appetizer that got destroyed in 5 minutes or less. They are outstanding. The pizza came out and all I could do was look at it. It was amazing. Caribbean jerk chicken chunks, strip of peppered bacon, chunks of slightly mashed pineapple, shaved ham, and banana peppers all thrown over a spa of vinegar and oil. If you are lucky enough to get a bite with all of the ingredients...it is an absolute explosion of taste. The gourmet white was good...but the Maui Wowie was sooooooo good that I don't even remember anything specific about it. Becka refilled my drink when I reached the halfway point as the Maui pizza has some kick to it but not enough to make you run home to Mommy. I took 4 of the 8 pieces home (2 of each) and paid the bill. Becka was awesome. She was friendly, informing and entertaining (she sang all of the Christmas songs that were playing). Environment was cool. They have a bunch of stuff that keeps your eyes entertained, such as 7 different kinds of bar stools, which gives the place some flavor. Food was out of this world.

The meatball trio was delicious. The Greek salad was very fresh and had lots of topping. Server was friendly and attentive.

Ordered a gluten-free Gourmet White pizza...changed it up a bit by having a pesto base instead of the olive oil and garlic base...thin crust but very yummy for gluten free eaters!

Great place for kids because it is super loud. Service has been efficient if not especially friendly with the exception of the manager (owner?)...he is super involved and super friendly. I just wish I liked the food better. The Greek Salad was a really loose interpretation...it included greens, onions, cucumbers, feta, Kalamata olives, tomatoes, ... and green peppers + mushrooms + pepperoncini + banana peppers + carrots + red cabbage (really??). They accompany it with a thick, sweet balsamic dressing...hmm. I'll say one thing for it...there was a lot of it and it was nice and fresh. I love mushroom soups in general, but each time I have succumbed to temptation here, it has been inedibly salty. It is too bad because it is otherwise thick, rich, and creamy with lots of tasty shrooms. As far as the pizzas, I tend to like thin, crispy NY-style crusts...theirs is just too thick and bready for my taste. But this is purely a matter of personal taste. We'll probably be back because of the little one...I'll just have to order more selectively.

This is hands-down the best place to eat in Germantown. They even have a few gluten-free options for those in my family who are sensitive, which is really hard to find. Service and food are always great. Never had any problems in the many years we've been eating here.

This is the best pizza you can get outside of New York. Period. And I liked this location. Very spacious; the only thing was the bar was tiny for a very loyal crowd! And why? Because according to some kids' drawings on the wall behind the bar Heather is the Bestest! And, having been served by her, I agree. Wish I'd been in town longer. Great selection of beers and custom pies. My favorite is the bayou bleu. But it's all good. Whenever I travel to the southeast, I'm always looking for a Mellow!

Ok I am little torn on this place. First off I love the decor and the staff has always been great. The pizza to me is good but not the best, I do love their hummus appetizer. I have not tried their sandwiches but a friend of mine got one and it looked pretty good. The downside here is if you go in at lunch and get a pizza or two be prepared to wait and wait this place is busy at lunch. I went in and ate at lunch once just ordered hummus and it took about 45 minutes I finally had to ask for it to go since I had to get back to work. I have been using their take out and it is great and they almost always have my food waiting at the bar for me. Just be aware if you go in at lunch you will be dealing with a crowd.

My previous review from a year ago was 3 stars. Since that experience, every time I come here the food gets better! I love the holy shiitake pizza- it comes with garlic aioli and black truffle oil drizzled on top... So good. Also the philosopher's pie is delicious. My brother recommends the sandwiches and my grandmother loves the calzones. Thanks mellow mushroom!

The insert with the items conjured by Mellow Mushroom employees were two hits and a HUGE miss. The Slow Ridin' Chicken Salad is an excellent appetizer - seasoned chicken with apples on toasted garlic bread wedges. Refreshing enough for a Spring afternoon. Cucumber Melon Cooler - another selection suited for Spring refreshment. The cucumber and melon with alcohol is quite a nice combination. Chicken Cordon Bleu Calzone - this sounded great on the menu. Poorly executed. This was a mess of too much cheese that overshadowed the other ingredients. The gooeyness made the bread soggy beyond palatability. I would improve this recipe by cutting down on so much artery clogging cheese.

Mellow Mushroom has some of the best pizza I've ever tasted! They have a great selection of different pizzas to choose from, and they all take awhile to prepare, which means that they're making them as you order. My group last night had three: The Works, the Holy Shittake, and a gluten-free The Works. All three were great; I even love the gluten-free crust! Also, of course, Mellow Mushroom has a great beer selection!

I love Mellow Mushroom, but this location is a total bummer. My boyfriend and I went in for lunch one day at 12:15. There was no wait, and the restaurant was only about halfway full. I ordered a cheese calzone and he ordered a steak hoagie. 45 minutes later, after 3 claims of "your food will be right out," we asked the waitress to check on our food again. After a full hour of waiting with no food, our waitress finally retrieved her manager, who took about 10 more minutes to come to our table. She apologized and did not charge us for our meal, which was nice. Definitely not a place to go if you're a working individual needing to get in and out like I am. We had to slop our food into to-go boxes and run for the door to make it back to work on time!! Our waitress was sweet, so we left her a good tip. I felt sorry for her since the miscommunication in the kitchen is probably costing her tips from other tables. There was a table of 7 seated next to us, and their plates came out one by one over the course of 30 minutes. Definitely not how a restaurant should be run!! I don't think I'll be returning to this location anytime soon.

Typically enjoy their pizza however they really have terrible service and lack proper management for handling a typical Friday night crowd. Waited 20 minutes for a table, which with a crowd was about average. But once we got seated we waited over 15 additional minutes for a server to even recognize we were there, other parties that were seated after us actually had waters and their drink orders filled. Still not even acknowledge our presence. Terrible!

I either am the last one to get news, or I am just totally ignorant/oblivious. I remember YEARS ago, when Mellow Mushroom popped up in ATL, I thought it was a strictly local thing and I wouldn't see it anywhere else. When my roomie told me there was one in the Memphis area, I kept questioning him- if it was the same, or a spin off. He told me it was the same! I was still reluctant to believe him though... After a long day at the dealership, we needed to get some grub. He said this place was nearby, so we went for it. There was a decent crowd, but we were able to get a booth in the corner (how bromantic). I looked at the menu, and sure enough, it was the same! When I looked at the beer menu, I was impressed as well. They had about 30 or so beers on tap- of all types. I like it when a place has a variety on beer- even though I don't drink it *coughs*. It had a nice size patio, and also a big inside, complete with a bar. One of the bigger locations I have been to. Our server (forgot his name), on the younger side, was friendly, but didn't know much about the beers (a lot to learn!)- I did not hold that against him... Had to get the usual- the mighty meaty- a staple for a MM visit. And the pretzels. As we were waiting on the food, I kept staring at all of the trippy artwork on the walls, waiting for a LSD flashback to kick in- but it didn't... However, as I am writing this review (time out, I think one is happening now... .... ..... .... ... OK, I'm back)- I am starting to see some swirls.... The food came out quickly, and reminded me just like the MMs back home. So that was clutch to know that they are consistent, from location to location. Yes, it is still on the pricier side, but the ingredients they use is what does it. As long as they cook it right, it ain't too bad! Until I find a Sicilian place in MEM, I might just keep having to come back! Plus, it's not too far from the apt.

This is a fun place to go. They have a large selection of items. The pizzas are good and they also have great sandwiches. Good place to take the family or go with a group.

Good beer selection and the food was good. Lots of healthy options (if gluten free and/or whole wheat crust are your thing). Definitely better than mass market food for sure.

I loved the food here! This is one place I Highly recommend if you like calzones, pizza and meatball subs! Very good flavor with the right kind of ingredients. All fresh vegetables, meats. Everything thus far has been fantastic. Seating was no problem, even for lunch crowds. Go!!

This is my absolute favorite for pizza even if it is a chain. The pizza is perfect and paired with a great beer selection it can't be beat. We get a large 1/2 karma/1/2 house and take home leftovers for future dinners.

Ok, so the pizzas are super yummy, they have a big variety and very tasteful combinations, but they need more customer service, more waitresses or more active. We were there on a slow Sunday, not so many people but the service for us was slow because the bartender was doing the job of a waitress for the section that is in front of the bar (there were about 8 people count the 4 of us) but she was serving drinks, taking orders, charging, and all, so it was obviously slow because there was to much on her plate. I saw more people there and they looked very relaxed so we didn't understand the deal on that issue.

Pizza great, service a bit questionable. I was in there earlier this week with our 2 kids and friends. It was by no means crowded. Table behind us got frustrated and got up to leave since it took so long to get their food. My daughter spilled her water. I noticed at least 3 servers who walked by and saw the spill but didn't act on it. Overall pizza still tastes good but take out is the way to go to avoid the sketchy service.

Delicious pizza and great ambiance here at Mellow Mushroom! Perfect place to watch the game! Go team USA! Strong margaritas, and even though it's a pizza joint, the wings and other apps are delish as can be! So many beers in tap and really great service! Overall an amazing experience at Mellow Mushroom! (I recommend the house special pizza all the way!) Only complaint was that the veggies on my pizza weren't all the way cooked, but everything else was great!

  • Jennifer M.

Service wasn't so good, but the food sure was, that is when we finally got it. Our app was burned so they made another then comped it. That was appreciated. My daughter wanted a shirt wanted a medium the waitress brought out every size except a med and made 3 trips back to the back to get one. Kept handing us different sizes none were medium. Ended up not getting one at all.

Good food and usually great service but not tonight. Our server, Patrick, was extrememly rude. There was a misunderstanding and he thought we were saying someone in our party was underage. She is not but he wouldn't know because he refused to look at her ID. As we were explaining this to him he said, "Look, I don't give a sh*t. That's the owner behind me..." I understand that he can't risk his job serving a minor, but he was not. Perhaps he should have been equally as anxious about cursing at customers. Disappointing.

  • Daniel H.

Great pizza and calzones, very nice beer selection and some creative appetizers. I particularly like the "Philosopher's Pie" pizza. The downside is that the restaurant is very loud and crowded and the service slows to a crawl whenever they get even a little busy. I prefer coming here for a late lunch or early dinner so I don't spend an inordinate amount of time waiting. I understand waiting for good food at a popular place, but I've averaged a one hour wait from ordering until the food hits the table for a party of 4 during peak hours, that's too long for pizza.

  • Justin L.

Our neighbors invited my wife and I out to this little gem in Germantown, and I have to say, it is a nice place to grab a nosh. The hummus is amazing, and their subs (I highly recommend the Italian) are pretty decent. Make sure to get your beer club card when you go. Their outdoor seating is wonderful, and is a great place to have an inexpensive meal and a cold drink.

  • Dianna M.

Booked a class reunion get together for a once a month gathering. We called in advance and got a time of 6:30 for 30 people. They booked another party at 5:30 we waited over an hour. They seated people who came in a few at a time to a large table as well. Some wanted to leave, but as we were going to try another pizza place near by we finally got the table. This is very poor behavior for the management for a group spending over $400.00 with them. I guess they want all the money! Not a fan and the pizza was just okay.

Great food. Friendly service. Takes a little bit to get your pizza but they are made fresh to order and is well worth the wait at a fair price for what you get. I will definitely return and recommend it to everyone

It's not my favorite. However, it's a pretty cool restaurant. It's trendy and has a cool bar. The pizzas are ok but the crust is HUGE. Thin crust, you say? Not at Mellow Mushroom. You can get it "thinner" but you will still feel like you ate a loaf of bread. Lol

Very yummy, plus it's Veggie and Vegan friendly! They have a great beer/cider selection with happy hour, and their pizza is top notch :) It might get a little loud in their, but go in before 5 and you should be good.

Now I'm a fan. Joined the beer club and I'm even more impressed since the last visit. I forgot my beer card and the waitress found out how to credit my beer account even without the card. Superlative service. Good food, good beer, good service. Still a bit on the noisy side, especially when loaded with ankle-biters.

I like. No I love potato pizza. And this is one of the few places that serves it. And they have my favorite spinach dip. My family loves the atmosphere so it's great when we all wanna eat.

I had eaten at the MM out in Knoxville with the giant mushrooms all around the dining area, which to me felt like dining in a cartoon, however, the new place in Germantown has a very cool BAND decor! LOVE the look of this place. The pizzas are incredible. Totally loved one (that unfortunately isn't on the menu any longer?????) It had chicken, portebello mushrooms and a ranchy sauch poured over the top. It was the best pizza I had ever tasted up until that time and hasn't been matched since! (BRING IT BACK, PLEASE!). On our most recent visit, Jordan was our server and she kept our beverages filled (she remembered what we were all drinking and didn't have to interrupt our conversation to ask us what we were drinking), what a novel approach!!!!! We love you, Jordan! I hear you sometimes have live music, so I'm going to plan to come back when that is happening. Sounds like fun in addition to great food!

I have found a pizza that I am willing to drive from midtown to Germantown for. It is the buffalo chicken pizza with a spicy blue cheese spread as the base. I crave this pizza often and it is by far my favorite pizza to eat. Also, Mellow Mushroom is a cool place to hang out with friends for drinks and pizza.

Return trip. Busy Friday night, the place was packed. We waited in the bar for about 30 minutes, then were seated. I decided to eat light and had bruschetta and the Capri salad - the perfect light dinner, though I probably could have done with just one of them. Fresh tomatoes and basil with generous chunks of fresh mozzarella.

Best place to go if you're craving a pizza but don't want any fast food place pizzas like dominoes, the pizza is really good and a huge variety.

I heard of some great reviews and a friend recommended this restaurant. Every Friday, my son and I have Pizza night. So we wanted to try something different. The restaurant decor was really festive and the atmosphere was great. I like the open space and you don't feel smothered. I order my normal spinach and tomorrow pizza and I ordered my son, his cheese pizza. The order took a little longer than I expected, but we didn't mind. Our server was very nice and attentive. However, my son order came out first and mine came our 3 minutes later. Even in a pizza place, I think everyone should be served at the same time. Additionally, the bread was too thick for my son and all he ate was the cheese and the bread had sesame seeds. I initially really liked my pizza taste and the presentation was nice. However, the sauce did not agree with me. I know pizza sauces very and it's either a hit or miss with me. This one missed the mark. I will go back and try another item on the menu.

What a pleasant surprise this was! I've never been to a Mellow Mushroom, although I understand they are a large chain. Place was clean and friendly. Waitstaff was right there. I had a quick lunch of Lil' Caesar Salad w/ chicken and a slice of pizza. It was all good! I'll be back.

  • Leo B.

A great pizza and subs place, and a fine addition to the local area. This is a chain many locals may have experienced elsewhere, and really knows what they are doing. The only down side is that having only one location in the area and being so good that they can get backed up busy times. Friday and Saturday nights are to be avoided, in my opinion. Go for lunch during the week, much less crowded, better service, and cheaper prices!

  • John G.

Great pizza. Large menu with lots of choices. Very good service. 32 different beers in tap!! The dining room is large and modestly decorated but a tad inn the loud side. They were very busy the night we ate there.

  • Don P.

Great pizza and a fantastic beer selection! I like the off the wall pizza choices like the hot potato pie (tastes like a baked potato) or the Caesar (a Caesar salad on a pizza). My kids always go for the Funky Q Chicken with it's BBQ chicken, bacon and cheese. The 35 beer taps include one of personal favorites, Dogfish Head Brewery's 60 minute IPA along with lots of other nonstandard choices. They've got Bud light if you're into that kind of thing but why not try something different. It's a popular place so be prepared to wait for a table on weekend nights. If you don't like waiting, hit it in mid-afternoon, eat a slice or 2, have a beer and take some home for a snack later. That's what I do. A comfortable atmosphere and friendly staff have turned this into one of my favorites.

Maybe I'm easy to please (not), but I love this place. From the cool signage (great branding!) to the kind of funky, retro interior, to the super-fresh food. This is the best Greek salad. I have found it, and it replaced my most fave from my hometown, which is saying alot. My husband is in love with the pizza, mentioning the 'Gourmet White' pizza, twice this week. The man is obsessed. An awesome plus, beer with the dinner. I am not a huge fan of chain/busy places, usually, but there's something special about this one. I dig it.

This place packs 'em in every single night. The Mushroom is a machine. My 18-year-old son loves the buffalo chicken pizza sans onions, so MM is a staple for take-out for us. And it is pretty good, I gotta say. Here's my routine: call in order, drive from C'ville, arrive 15 minutes before pizzas are due to be ready, tell barkeep my name and inform of call-in order, drink one beer. It usually works out that the pies come out about the same time I'm one sip away from finishing the beer. Timed with the precision of a NASA mission. There are several large TVs with sports playing, making solo dining at the bar or waiting for take-out completely tolerable. Back to the opening sentence. The only downside is that there are people EVerywhere during dinnertime, so I recommend coming early. No, Granddad, there are no early-bird specials. Mellow Mushroom pizza is not NY style. It's not Chicago style. Don't come here if your deal is authentic pizza of one variety or another. Nuthin' wrong with that. I favor NY pies. But I don't hang that requirement on the Mushroom.

Done like Dinner. Mellow Mushroom is a great chain. The food is usually good, and who can't love the beer selection? Add that it has a cute atmosphere and this should be a block-buster restaurant in Germantown. But here is the Ugly Truth. When you come to this location in Germantown be sure you pack: 1) A book 2) A newspaper 3) The patience of Job 4) Extra time The service is beyond bad. No amount of beer or the best food in the world can overcome the poor service. Mellow Mushroom is staffed with kids that appear to have no idea and no training on any Restaurant related activities. Forget busing or drink refills. And don't think they care about getting to you in front of their 'friends' regardless of when you arrive. There is no enthusiasm here. It is such a disappointment. You would firmly believe that someone investing money in opening up such a nice location and restaurant would at least have the ability to educate a group of servers - but no. The owner may be a nice man, but unless he steps up and changes what he is doing - the service that Mellow Mushroom gives will make him go broke. Now this is not just a hungry fat guy that got mad and left Mellow Mushroom in a tizzy. No, I am a repeat patron, that has had a service related issue on every occasion in the door. Again, the Ugly Truth - Today I was so shocked at the poor service that I decided to leave rather than wait any longer on drinks or my beloved House Special. So I am done, I am sorry to say. Take a pass. There are better pizza places and anyplace has better service. Personal note to the CA (that can't give an accurate review on this restaurant, IMHO) - find a new reviewer.

Well, come on. Surely we can all have a good laugh together at the mural on the wall at the Mellow Mushroom, the one that says "The Soul of Germantown." Say what? Hey, no one's knocking Germantown here, and definitely not taking a shot at the Mellow Mushroom. It's just funny. Soul and Germantown. Hmmm ... I wonder if Stax is thinking about moving to the 'burbs ... It might be the first thing you notice when you walk into the new and extremely popular pizza parlor, but you'll leave with a smile on your face for a different reason. The food will make you happy. If you're a fan of white pizza, and I am, then you're going to love the Gourmet White. Oozy provolone, mozzarella and feta cheese and the sliced onions are the star of the pie, which is also garlicky and includes sun-dried and sliced tomatoes. Moving on, the Kosmic Karma might be the prettiest pizza you've ever seen, with its bright green swirl of pesto from rim to center, begging you to drag a toothpick through it and make a spider's web design. While I doubt pesto is made fresh on premises -- the cost would be crazy -- I wouldn't call anyone a liar who told me otherwise. It's fresh and bright, tasting as much of summer as a cool glass of lemonade. The Karma also has sun-dried tomatoes, spinach and feta cheese, which means that so far, my favorite pizzas at Mellow Mushroom are meatless. There are about 40 on tap and if that's not enough for you, well, you're either in trouble or in luck -- take your pick -- as higher-alcohol big beers are available by the bottle. The servers are young and friendly, enthusiastically telling you their favorites if you ask. The vibe is not the hippie feel you get at some Mushrooms, but it is friendly, comfortable and welcoming. The soul of Germantown. Jennifer Biggs' Review - 2 1/2 out of 4 stars

Great place! Food is good, atmosphere is nice. Wide selection, I really like that. The staff at this location were super nice.

When I found out Memphis had its very own Mellow Mushroom I had to give it a try and it did not disappoint. Had great pizza and even tried the pretzel appetizer which was really good. Now that I am gluten free I found out they have gluten free pizza so i can't wait to go and check it out.

Love this. Might Meaty pizza is my favorite, but all have been quite delicious. Atmosphere is cool BUT definitely loud. Calzones aren't that great. Pretty hard.

This was almost a four star review, but then I really sat and thought about my experiences at the Mellow Mushroom. Yes, it is a chain, but the food is quite excellent. They have the absolute best Greek salad I have ever had (I agree with Noelle vehemently), and their Esperanza dressing is probably the best salad dressing ever. The pizzas at Mellow Mushroom are delicious and filling, with a chewy crust that I happen to greatly enjoy. Both times I went there recently, I took salad and pizza home with me. Plenty of food, plenty of leftovers, I am plenty happy. It gets loud there, but the food is totally worth it. Go there, if just for the Greek salad. The little one is hardly little at all, and an exceptional value at just over five dollars.

Great pizza! We were so excited to hear there would be a Mellow Mushroom opening up in Memphis as we had been to others in Georgia and Nashville. I'm not a fan of the drive, but am glad to hear there is another one opening up on Park. Great beer and pizza. What more could you ask for?

Overpriced and overrated. Food isn't bad but $30 for a large pizza? However, I'm not really a fan of cooperate business.

I was a bit put off by the higher prices, but the food was good. Half a chicken parm sandwich, and half a meatball that I was too full to finish. Despite being only half full, the wait for the food was quite long...too long if I had only an hour for lunch. I'll take the wife for dinner and try a pizza.

Friday night take out once again and the "Mushroom" was packed. I was greeted at the back counter where it is very noisy! The pizza was not ready and I waited about five minutes longer than I was told. The pizza was good, but very expensive. My wife's comment was that Russo's is a much better value. Will I ever go here again? Maybe, after I forget the noise, average service and high price.... the pizza is OK.

Yummy pizza, and salads in a fun atmosphere. I finally had the chance to eat lunch here a couple of weeks ago and I'm trying to find my way back again. It's not exactly close to my house. The pizza is really good. The crust is crispy and is in between thick and thin, just right in my opinion. They have lot's of pie options. I like the gourmet white and the buffalo chicken specialty pies. You have to try their pretzels. You have topping choices but I like the regular old salt ones. They are huge and you can get them as an appetizer. It's a great compliment to one of their build your own salads. You can choose the type of greens and from all sorts of toppings. This is one of my favorite menu options about the Mellow Mushroom. The atmosphere is fun, it's great for families and couples too. They have a nice outdoor patio area. It's located off Poplar Ave in the Target shopping center in the space that used to house Old Navy. It's a great addition to pizza options in the city.

We were in Memphis visiting family and stopped here for lunch. We tried two pizzas the pineapple and ham and basil and sundried tomoto(I forget the names) definitely great pizza and the waitress was really nice and helpful. We did not have any beer but saw the great selection and would probably be regulars here if we did not live in Chicago!!

The crust on this pizza is great! I highly recommend the soft pretzels, calzones, and the Greek salad. Any of their pizza choices you cannot go wrong with...they make a great pizza overall! I am not a chain restaurant person but the quality of food (especially the bread) gets as close to local as possible. One major down side is the chaos that a full restaurant causes at this place; the service becomes fairly poor, becomes extremely loud, and long delays in getting food. Not sure what the problem is but they handle a full house worse than most restaurants. Avoid noon and 6p, and this restaurant's service is top notch/very friendly!

We did carry-out on Saturday night, called in the order and it was ready on-time (actually a few minutes early). They had messed up one of the pizzas (put something on it that shouldn't have been there), but fixed it quickly and without question. They actually upgraded the pizza from a small to a medium and threw in an order of garlic bread. The garlic bread was ok, but the Greek Salad we got was very, very good. Dressing was very good, the ingredients seemed fresh and it was tasty. We got 2 pizzas: the Small Pepperoini was good, pretty basic, but it was for my son primarily. Also got the Buffalo Chicken, which was really good. Not overly saucy, but had a nice hint of the buffalo flavor to it. My wife and I both really like the crust, it has a nice pull to it and the pizza itself is not overly thick like hand-tossed pizzas are many places.

Make no mistakes about it, the pizza is unique and definitely delicious, but my last trip there was not so pleasant, and we wound up not eating there. We went in around 2:30 in the afternoon, on a Saturday, to grab some lunch. There were probably about 5-6 tables with people sitting at them, and there was one gentleman sitting at the bar conversing with the bar tender. There was no host/hostess at the stand, so we waited for someone to come seat us. NOBODY ever did. There was more than enough wait staff for the number of people in the restaurant, and TWICE a waitress walked between us and the podium and never said a word. She made eye contact with me, and kept right on walking. The first time she had a pizza in her hands, so I figured she was taking it to a table (which she did), but then she returned to the kitchen and never acknowledged that we may like to have a seat. The next time she was going back to check on the table she just took the pizza to, and again, never acknowledged us. I looked at the bar tender, and he looked at us (the 3 adults and 2 children) standing at the door, and just continued his conversation with the guy at the bar...so we turned around and left. I have only dined-in at this restaurant on one occasion, but have ordered carry-out several times and make the 30 minute drive to the store because the pizza is that good. I promise you, I have not ordered take-out since this incident, and it will be a long time before I ever do it again...if ever at all.

I had heard of Mellow Mushroom from people who have traveled around the Southeast. But, I had never eaten there until I went to this location for lunch today. The starter salad was good, but a little plain. The Spicy Ranch dressing was great. I highly recommend it. We had a House special pizza (hold the bacon and green peppers, add extra black olives). It was fantastic with generous toppings and a great, super chewy crust. I will be eating here at least once a week for a long time coming. They are new and super busy. So, either go early (like 11:10 for lunch and before 5:30 for dinner) or be ready for the wait.

Gluten intolerance and Celiacs beware, cross contamination is happening at this location! I was so excited to have pizza after 7 months since finding out the source of all my woes, and I heard mellow mushroom was supposedly very careful about cross contamination. Not so much.. I'm hurting from their "GF" pizza. Just don't chance it! Stay far, far away! There is no way I will put myself through this again.

Went back for lunch today. Had a sausage and pepper sandwich and was less than enthused about it. It was okay but onions and peppers needed to be cooked a bit longer and sausage was generally taste-less. Tried another's piece of pizza and found it to be soft and doughy. Shared the garlic cheese bread appetizer and it was nothing too special. On the positive side it was very crowded but we were seated quickly and service was quick and attentive. The owner visited with us for a bit and I can see how his bright and smiling approach positively affects the staff. Chalking this visit up to growing pains.

Went there today with my young adult son midway between lunch and dinner. Place was about 90% full, lots of little kids and toddlers. Fortunately there was a table - with high barstools ugh - away from the table full of toddlers. Service was prompt. We ordered apps of pretzels - butter and kosher salt with side of mustard - and hot wings. The hot wings were decent flavor, nothing to rave about, standard wings. However they were quite small and of the five pieces in the order, four were off the less meaty half of the wing and looked lonely in the basket next to the huge stack of celery sticks. If the celery stick stack is larger than the wing stack, something is wrong. Note to self for next time - order different appetizer. Still, good taste. The bleu cheese had some decent chunks in it, which I love. So many places have the creamed bleu cheese, which is such a turn off for me. The pretzels came out much later, in fact came out about 2 minutes before our entrees arrived. This was very annoying and our server basically stated that the pretzels took longer than expected. I read into that meaning that somebody forgot to put them in the oven as the pretzels were basically twisted dough brushed with butter and kosher salt. We ordered them 20 minutes before ordering the entrees, so something got either remade or forgotten. The side of mustard was just that, some plain yellow mustard at room temp in a ramakin. Not fancy, but maybe having a few varieties of mustards would be a nice touch. Since the pretzels arrived a few minutes before our entrees we didn't really get to enjoy them. But we took them in the doggie box. For our entrees - my son got the cheese calzone. It was decent enough but look baked a few minutes too long. It was a good size and the sauce on the side was good, bit sweet but good. He had a hard time handling it as the medium - they offer small, medium and large sizes - was a decent sized portion. He took half home. I ordered the Magical Mystery Tour pizza with sausage added. I really enjoyed it, and had more than enough for leftovers, which was the intent. The crust was lovely, done just right. I like how the jalapenos went with the olive oil and garlic base - instead of red sauce. I have been here a few times and enjoy the food. However I will have to remember for next time to go later in the evening when - hopefully - there are fewer screaming toddlers. The building is and open, high ceiling cavern with pizza makers in view. So the screams of the toddler table carried some distance. Good place for groups but everything is out in the open and if it is crowded, you have to squeeze past folks to get to the bathrooms. Overall, the food it good and was worth the 25 minute drive. Frozen yogurt place few doors down so you can make up for the lack of dessert by walking.

Good Pizza and great wait staff. Just don't expect your pizza to be ready in 10 min like most places..this pizza is actually fresh and has to be cooked to order so have patience!

Okay, my mom always told me, "If you're gonna say something negative, you have to balance it with something positive". Good for the soul, I think. So I'll say the positive thing first: My wife said she liked the pizza crust. Other than that: FAIL. Grade of "F". We were the only customers at the front of the restaurant when we walked in the door and the only ones waiting to be seated. IT TOOK FOREVER TO GET SEATED. There were staff everywhere, but they were too busy hamming it up to notice their customers. The pizza? Let me give you some background first. I've eaten pizzas all over Italy, Spain, Germany, in New York City, New Jersey, California. You get the idea. I travel sometimes and pizza is good soul food. The pizza I had at Mellow Mushroom was the worst pizza I have ever been served in my life. Period. No lie. I ordered the pizza with mozzarella, sun dried tomatoes, fresh tomatoes and olive oiled crust. I got a pizza with large puddles of olive oil, token cheese, about 20 little flecks of sun dried tomatoes and 6 (not 5 or 7, but six) tomato slices the size of a quarter. Lame lame lame. And it was a $20 pizza. WE WILL NEVER, EVER GO BACK. Save your money and order Dominoes. Memphis Sucks.

I like the concept better than the food. Very very bland. Tasteless crust. Very slow service and overpriced for the quality of pizza served. Save yourself $20 and get a Dijorno.

Never been to Mellow Mushrooms in other cities before. Here's my review on this one: Beer selection is off the chain. They serve about 90% the selection of what you can find at the other top-notch beer places (Flying Saucer, etc). They also have local beer... Ghost River. They have wine and mixed drinks but I haven't had an opportunity to sample them. But of course, pizza is what they sell to get customers. I really really enjoyed it. It was full crust, baked just about where you want it to be to have it hit your tongue's tastebuds. The toppings that I had were decent to very good. On a topping to dough ratio, the pizza is a tad on the doughy side. But it's a good doughy side. On a return visit, I tried a calzone, but was a little disappointed in the quantity of toppings to the rest of the dish (dough / cheese). Is this the best pizza in metro Memphis? It's hard to say. Very very good pizza and great beer selection. It is worth the drive at least once. I have to dock a star on acoustics. The website says they have mellow music piped into the restaurants, but there was no music on any of my visits. Instead, you hear everybody's conversation and it's not pleasant. Also, the ambiance of a mellow pizza place comes off a little 'sterile' in Germantown... Memphis' weathiest suburb. The only other thing that would limit my number of visits is minding my waistline. You're looking at a 2,000+ calorie meal each visit. Pros: Very very good pizza and beer. Reasonably priced. Cons: Acoustics, ambiance. Long drive from parts of Metro Memphis

The food here is delicious. They have very unique types of piza and ton of beer. I love it. The only suggestion I would have is they might need to improve their customer service.

I would have given it 5 stars but they are inconsistent on quality at this location - which was never an issue at any of the Atlanta locations I ate from. I love their pizzas just wish they could always get them right.

The last two times we went the wait for the food was longer than our wait at other restaurants. Tonight when we went in, we waited a good 15 minutes until we flagged down a random waiter to take our order. The food also seem to take forever to come out. Mellow Mushroom is good food, but expect to be there awhile.

Their pizza is good, but generally not worth the experience. I have been to several other Mellows and this is by far the worst. The first time I chalked it up to being a new restaurant, but after several visits, I think it is just how the place is run. Cons: 1. Slow service (often 10-15 min. before we get drinks...) 2. Poor service (no refills, server doesn't check back to see if we'd like more beer or need anything) 3. Long waits without ability to accommodate that many people waiting. One evening after a 45 min. wait, we were seated at a table near the door (not an issue). But so many people were waiting, we were surrounding on two sides be people waiting. They were so close their legs/rears were touching our table and we were constantly bumped by waiting patrons. 4. Loud. Been there several times were conversation just isn't possible without shouting. Pros: 1. Great beer selection. Don't go for trivia on Monday nights. The questions are so easy a 3rd grader could answer. Sad, because a competitive trivia night in G-town would be great!!

I was out in Germantown last night (quite the drive from midtown) and tried this place out based on numerous recommendations from friends. I had heard that they have the best pizza in Memphis which, in all honesty, is not saying much...but I digress. I got take out so I can't really comment on the atmosphere but it seemed like any other suburban chain restaurant: inviting but contrived. Either way, I judge my pizza parlor by the pie they serve. Sadly, this is where MM falls a bit short. Yes, the crust is really good. I would even go so far as to say it is the best of the chain pizzas although I think you could make a case for differentiation between this place and something like Pizza Hut. Sadly, that is about all I can say about MM. It is a strong step up from Dominoes but leaves a bit to be desired if you've ever had a pie in NY or Chicago. I guess the lesson I need to learn is that Memphis is just not a pizza city.

Nice sitdown pizza restaurant. They have a full selection of beers and drinks, pints for about 4.50 and pitchers about 15. I'm not a big pizza fan, but if all pizza was like the ones that we had there, I would eat more of it. We had the Philosopher's Pie, Gourmet White, Megaveggie, and the meaty mighty. If you're a vegetarian, their veggie pizzas are equally as good as the other stuff. There's something very flavorful about the crust that I can't put my finger on. Usually, I discard the crust when eating pizza, but I found the crust was just as good as the rest of the pizza. (Supposedly the curst is made with something called "spring water dough", whatever that is.) A large (16 inch diameter) is about $25, which is a bit pricy, but if you're looking for good pizza, Mellow Mushroom is the place to go.

Been to others in different states. Took a large group of people to the one here. Took a while to be seated but thats was understandable. Waitress not the best, young and a snob but it did take forever for food. She was not helpful or friendly. Food= Great. Waitress= Bad I judge places by who the have serving the food. But i would could back maybe with just one person

i would like to upgrade them to 3.5. we have gone back twice. we did table service instead of carry-out. first time, we met friends there.. we got the pretzels as an appetizer. don't expect auntie anne's type pretzels. they are really just pizza dough in a pretzel shape. they are tasty just not a soft pretzel. the service was better. the second time we went to hear a friend play live music there. we got wings as an appetizer. they were decent. we got the thai flavored ones. they had a little kick and a good sauce. this time, we got the magical mystery tour pizza (mushrooms, pesto, spinach, feta and jalapenos). it was okay. i like the philosopher's pie better. the magical mystery had too much pesto and too much jalapeno for me personally. as always, the beer menu was to the hubby's liking. some people just don't like the crust at the mellow mushroom. i kinda do. i like most pizza crusts and it's generally what you are in the mood for. if you like thin, cracker style crust-memphis pizza cafe. you want some combo of chewy crispy-mellow mushroom.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
