Easily the best lunch spot in Germantown. Everything I've ordered there has always been good. I'm a big fan of their sandwiches particularly the breakfast and the hot ones. I really like the sandwiches because they always load up the meat. They also offer cranberry walnut bread as an option which is another plus. My favorite sandwich is The Boss of The Moss. Aside from the food I also really enjoy the atmosphere. It's small and unassuming but very cozy. Every time I go in I feel right at home. The staff is also really friendly and I always get my food pretty quickly even if it's busy. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Today was my first time having anything from. This restaurant. I ordered the SPA salad. And please allow me to say how absolutely AWESOME and amazing this thing was. I have never had a salad with strawberries but this was the best mixed greens, bacon, cucumbers, turkey, feta cheese and strawberry vinegrette. Amazing!!! I will have it Again!

Excellent everything omelette with French toast-enough to share. Great, friendly service. Definitely a keeper!

Love Java Cafe! It's a wonderful local cafe with fresh, delicious food served up in generous portions. The staff and owner couldn't be nicer or more welcoming. Some of my favorites: the best tuna salad ever, the chicken wrap, the BLT. Today I tried the sandwich special--a grilled ham sandwich with bacon, white cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato and horseradish sauce. Yummy! Java is a regular stop for me. Definitely the best lunch spot in the area.

Don't come here for the coffee. Got a mocha and it was way weak, lukewarm and practically tasteless. Charbucks has better and theirs is always burnt. $4.50 for this is not ok. (I didn't have time to go back and complain or to have them remake or refund which I'm sure they would have had no issue with) Keep shopping if you're looking for coffee. On the other hand, the cookies and breads and breakfast goodies look delectable. I was in a hurry and couldn't stop for long enough to try anything but a cup o' joe.

A little expensive for what I got but the food was amazing. I had a half sandwich & a half salad. Perfect food.

Great breakfast and coffee spot!...best in Germantown. Easy stop for just getting coffee or a full breakfast. The food is good and has all the regular breakfast favorites. Coffee is consistent and good...$2 for a large and easy in/out for a quick cup. Great morning meeting location--quiet and inexpensive. Their service is the best part...outstanding staff and very friendly!!! When you're sick of the normal/rude Memphis service, come here for great customer service. Not 5 stars: need a little better pastries and more pastry selection (cinnamon rolls, donuts, etc...) to go with the good coffee

Went here for breakfast each morning after working over night for about 5 days. I don't think it is possible for the service to have been any better than it was. Additionally the food was delicious, especially the pastries; best blueberry muffins and scones I had ever had. The coffee smelled great but I had to avoid it given it was the end of my night. If I could take Java Cafe home with me I most certainly would.

Holy HUMONGOUS frozen coffees! I FINALLY stopped into Java Cafe after passing it a billion times. I really just stopped in to try a coffee and ended up grabbing lunch too! The menu is extensive and its on a chalkboard... so it took me a while to take everything in. I ordered the turkey wrap. There's not really much you can do to make a turkey wrap amazing, I mean it is what it is. The one thing I really loved about my wrap which made it better than most was they cut the swiss cheese into cubes and put it inside allowing cheese to be in every bite! I love cheese and hate when you get a wrap and you have to bite one side for turkey and the other for cheese. So I loved that. Then I decided since it was hot outside to order a frozen vanilla coffee. It took a while to get, but when I did it was in the LARGEST Styrofoam cup I have ever seen. No way I would ever drink the entire thing, but it was good. For a wrap and coffee it was $14... I really only needed 1/2 a wrap and 1/4 of the coffee! I really want to go back and try their breakfast. They had every omelet you could imagine, french toast, and of course eggs and bacon! It all sounded really great so I will definitely have to stop back in for some breakfast! The place itself was really tiny and not much to it. They did offer a ton of outdoor seating which was nice. I think they could definitely improve on the decor though!

Great Lunch Place; good food, good service . For those light eaters, the half sandwich and half salad would be plenty for two people.

The Spa Salad is my favorite. The portion size is good. Guilt-free lunch and attentive service.

Ordered a roast beef sandwich ($8) two days ago and had it toasted on advice of staff. The sandwich tasted fantastic and was quite large - definitely one of the better sandwiches I've had all year. I think it was named the "Big VG" or "Big GV" or something similar. I also tried sides of tunafish and egg salad from other diners in my party. The egg salad (not usually a favored dish of mine) was quite good but the tunafish was absolutely awesome -- I could make a meal of that tunafish all by itself. We went back for breakfast today and the tunafish was already sold out (before 10am!) apparently from people ordering ahead for Thanksgiving. Breakfast is only served until 10:30am. I was told the grill/kitchen was too small to support both breakfast and lunch menus during the usual lunch rush. Of several breakfast dishes we sampled the real standout was the French Toast: kids and adults alike voted it the favorite. The drip coffee was good. There are a number of specialty coffees offered but we did not try any. On both visits we noted that the staff appeared to be familiar with a number of different patrons - obviously repeat customers which I always take to be a good sign.

Always good. The homemade cranberry bread is delicious. The Spa salad with chicken and strawberries so good. The sandwiches have meat piled high. Great selection of chips, bakery items and coffees. Always fast and consistent. A great place to meet or just have lunch alone. Great take out.

Went for breakfast this morning and was more than pleased! The staff members were super sweet and very welcoming, and the food was heavenly!

Since the economic downturn in 2008, coffee shops have become a sort of proxy office space for mid-level managers and executives in "transition". ("Transition" is the human resources word for "unemployed but looking.") Among those in "transition", it's an unspoken avocation to seek out the best places to go, hang out, work the phones and laptops/tablet computers and look for the next gig while getting hopped up on joe. Java Cafe is--in East Shelby County--one of two really good spots where those in executive purgatory can go to be in "transition". The coffee is good--better than what you get at the mermaid. There's a wide selection of breakfast items. They cook eggs and omelets to exacting specifications. (I heard one order that had a list of specs as long as the assembly instructions for a Stinger missile.) The only drawback--and this is why the four-not-five stars: no wifi. Dudes! Embrace that you're purgatory for the professionally lost. Get wired. But for breakfast or mid-morning meetings, fantastic off-the-beaten-path place to get together.

Reviews looked nice so we drove to this place. Looked abandoned. It was Sunday. Breakfast/coffee place closed at 9 am on Sunday....hmmm
