Healthy Meal suggestions for China Buffet

I love Chinese Buffet. East of the Mississippi river you can expect similar things from a restaurant like this. This one is no exception, all the usual suspects are on the buffet. What makes it above average is that the quality of the food is better (i.e. Lo mien that is well seasoned and not slimy/overcooked). Also, the sushi is actually legit, with fresh looking and great tasting nigiri and California rolls. Great lunch option in a town that doesn't have much good food.

This place was my go-to for chinese. Lately, the service has ceased. I get seated and never get a refill or even my ticket at the end of the meal. I have to go to the register and the clerk has to ask my waitress for the ticket. I noticed they scored a 79 on their most recent health inspection, too. I think it's time I find another place to eat. Hopefully, they will get it together soon. They do have good food!

Ok.. I honestly cannot get too excited by food that is cooked in a kitchen and dished out on a buffet where little snot nosed children run around grabbing everything in sight. Thankfully, for the most part with my visit the children running amuck was not true. Yes, everything is served on a buffet, but this buffet had more than the average strip mall Chinese joint... LOTS more actually, including sushi which was actually pretty good.. Salads, entrees, desserts... all were plentiful to choose from and was fresh, not overcooked. Sadly, Im not a local, so I cannot say if this place is easy to get to or near much, but I can say it was worth the trip (well, 3 trips to the buffet) and will suggest a return the next time I am visiting the family.

This was my husbands idea and therefore, I will forever blame him for his choice...I tried to talk him it out of it but he told me to "live a little." Man, he's regretting those words. We don't drink soda, but we needed it to remove the taste of the food. We tried several things: fried shrimp, wonton soup, fried rice, teriyaki chicken, special delight, fried chicken...nothing was appetizing. It was over cooked, smelled bad, unappealing, and ugh! Even the fortune cookie was bad! Definitely not worth the cost!

The food selections at this buffet are good, with the usual foods that you expect to see. I recommend arriving at meal times to insure that the freshest food is on the bar, although they will fix anything that is out and bring some to your table. My adult son and his friends are particularly fond of the sushi bar, always talking about how fresh and well prepared it is. (I am not a sushi fan.) The service is always friendly and we have never had to wait long for a table, even on busy weekend nights. They do serve crab legs at dinner for an additional charge.

China Buffet is just as standard as it's name. There is hardly anything special about it, except that it's there when you are in the mood to gorge on some standard Chinese food. I will say, some days the buffet is fresher than others, and they have a pretty good selection. They also have sushi and hand dipped ice cream. I've never eaten the salad bar (who has room for a salad when you have all that baked imitation crab and rangoons?) but it always looks decent. If you want Chinese Buffet in Gallatin, this is your place (because it's the only option you have).

When I'm in the mood for sushi that I would under no other circumstances pay for, and I don't want to drive 20 minutes to Madison to 'Hibachi' or 35 minutes to Mt. Juliet for 'Koi', this is where I go. This is a pretty typical Chinese Buffet, if a little smaller than some of the others in middle TN. They have all the typical dishes you expect to see set out. They also have a sushi bar, although the sushi here is very mediocre. I can't quite put my finger on it...there is a huge amount of rice, without flavor, and small portions of anything else, I guess. I've never gotten sick or even had that 24 hour later sign of trouble. The staff is helpful and always surprised if you tip. They seat you quickly and are very regular to refill water. The other patrons are interesting, if you're into people watching. There are several flat screen TVs in the place, usually turned to a sporting event. Parking is easy and the place is convenient. They offer carry out, of course.

No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions.
