So I've been really busy lately and I wanted to try a few food delivery services to save time without eating out every night. I tried the Dinner A'fare in Murfreesboro a long time ago when their model was more interactive with guests cooking their own food to take home and I wasn't a fan. The Cool Springs location actually mails the food to you which is a little weird since they are so close but also nice that I didn't have to cook anything so I decided to give them a shot. I ordered 6 meals for 3 people for just under $200. The food arrived on dry ice in a couple days and you can set the food in the fridge to thaw and cook or keep dishes frozen to serve later on. The meals were all large enough to serve 6 people but they aren't totally fridge to mouth. The meals ranged in preparation from put in pan and hear to cutting steak and cooking multiple pieces to put together. No meal took more than 15 minutes of prep time. Meal Reviews: Flank Steak, Cheese Potato Strata, and Bread Pudding = YES YES YES Day one we had the balsamic flank steak and cheese potato strata. It was amazing. The steak was perfectly marinated and we all ate it without sauce. The potatoes were perfect, creamy, full of bacon and onion flavor. Hands down I would order this again and I felt good about serving it to my family. My son asked for seconds and my husband said it was worth $200. That's a win. The bread pudding was amazing. If you've had the bread pudding at the Southern - this is every bit as good. It's warm and soft and nutty. It's simply perfect. DAY THREE - Finger Lickin Chicken and Broccoli Bake = NO THANKS On the third day I warmed up the Finger Lickin Chicken and Broccoli Bake and I just wasn't that in to it. My son ate thirds and my husband killed the broccoli bake. I won't order this one again. DAY FOUR AND FIVE - Rigatoni with Steak Sauce The rigatoni with steak sauce may just be the best thing I've eaten in awhile. At first I was a little upset because it came somewhat unprepared. I had to cook the steak, cut it, cook the veggies, and boil the pasta. In my mind I wondered why this was a time savor when I could have just gone to the grocery store and bought a jar of sauce and a box of pasta but this was worth it. The sauce had subtle hints of wine and the steak was perfect. It was amazing. CHICKEN ENCHILADAS The chicken enchiladas were also very good. My husband said they were the best he has ever had. The red sauce was a little salty but it was a nice addition to the flour tortillas. CASHEW CHICKEN Cashew chicken is another winner. I served it with rice but wish I would have added Asian noodles. BLACK BEAN QUESADILLAS This was the only meal that my husband said was just "okay" and I agree. It wasn't anything special and was certainly something I could have created on my own. On top of that it was messy and hard to cook. The filling is rather juicy so it spilled everywhere and made it difficult to flip the quesadillas which made them look like giant lumps. WOULD I ORDER AGAIN I already did :) They change their menu monthly so I've ordered a few of my November favorites for round II. I'm excited to pick out some new meals for December. Downside: I love that they put the calories of each dish on the cooking instructions but I wish they told you what they consider a serving size. Perhaps because they are meals for six I am to assume that calories = 1/6 of the dish but I would prefer not to assume. I also wish they had more of a web presence. I was almost afraid to order because I couldn't find anything about this place online. Even though the food came from Franklin it did seem kind of impersonal. They are missing that personal touch but these things don't make the food any less delicious.
