Good food for the ($8-$14) price range, very tasty. Clean and pleasant experience.

I use to enjoy going here, but the last two times this place has been dirty! I am not sure about the kitchen and food, but the seating area the last two times has been gross! I contacted management last time and they responded with a $20 gift card. We only returned tonight after at least 6 months, and nothing had changed. There was salsa on the walls beside the booths, crushed chips on the floors, under tables, in the walkways, and also greasy fingerprints all over the doors and windows.

Swanky's rocks - a nice spin on the roll your own burrito spot. Full bar if you need it. Table service in the evening. Service is good, high end atmosphere I would say it's the best burrito in Franklin - YMMV

Yes, I like a fast-casual mexican-style salad. And yes, Swanky's satisfies. The lettuce could be better than bagged iceberg mix, but there's plenty of sautéed veggies, corn, tomatoes, and many different salsas to make a delicious and relatively healthy dinner. I wouldn't go there for the ambiance, but it's great for takeout. And don't get the chips - they need salt.
(4)Stan W.
Great food and always fresh. I eat here 1-2 per week and always enjoy the people and the food. Friendly staff and they always make me feel glad to be there.
(5)Tim G.
Love this place. Great food and good flavor. Seems to be a bit more upscale trendy Mexican place. Doesn't really matter when their food is sooooo good!

This is how a 4.5 star review becomes a 1.5. They got sloppy. And lazy. We dined at Swanky's when they first opened and we're overwhelmed. So, we allowed them to drift to the dusty back burner of the epicurean stove. Just 6 months or so did we revisit them and found ourselves declaring, "this may be our new place!" We found the decor just as fresh as the food, they had a kids menu for our picky eater, the food was good or better and the service was fast and friendly. I was so disappointed by our latest visit this evening, however, that their score (at least in my mind and on my Yelp page) plummeted to a dismal "2." The really terrible part...we didn't even order or eat there and they earned themselves a 2. So, what did they do, you ask? Here's what...they got complacent and sloppy and that's never OK. We arrived at a little after 5 on a Saturday night. Entering through the back door, which allows you to walk through their outdoor seating area, I noted no one was eating outside, but it's football time in TN and it's also still very much summer so I didn't think anything about it. As we approached the door, we walked through 5 or 6 employees on their smoke break. As I hurried inside so as to take a new breath of air, we passed a couple more employees just hanging out at the end of the bar area. One, presumably the manager, managed a weak "hey, guys" as we walked by. Because we entered the restaurant from the back, we had to walk through the dining area to get to the front lobby where the hostess stand is located. Walking through the restaurant, we noted two important items: out of 25-30 tables, only 1 was occupied. And, the larger of the red flags, the restaurant was filthy. It looked like a Chuck E. Cheese on a Saturday afternoon after a full day of back-to-back parties. There was food and just dirt on the floor, a table or two were dirty. It begged the question, "if this is what the public part of the restaurant looks like, what must the KITCHEN look like?" We weren't surprised to arrive at the front to an empty hostess stand, however, by that point, we'd already decided they did not deserve our business. We walked out without anyone saying a word to us. Dirty. Lazy. When I had my 1st job, I remember standing around and the boss walking up and handing me a towel and a bottle of window cleaner and saying that there was always something that could be done, whether there were customers in sight or not. We need more managers like that these days.

Really good spot. I have eaten here numerous times now and never had a bad meal.

This place really is swanky! Nice bar area, booths, and eclectic taco fillings live up to the name. Service was great - I asked for things not on the menu and they accommodated. If you want to avoid the typical Chipotle-like, walk down the topping line, experience, this is your place.
(3)B. J.
Good. Similar, but much better than Chipotle.

As someone who grew up around Tex-Mex and fresh Mexican food in Texas, I have learned what to expect with good Mexican food, and this is not it. The food was horrible, tasteless and mostly cold. Blech! For what I paid I could get better food and just as good service at Moe's or back home at Taco Cabana (if one wants to argue that this is not Tex-Mex). The queso I ordered was cold and from the looks of it, whatever heat it had from cooking was obliterated when they added the Pico de Gallo. The fajita steak I ordered in my tacos had no seasoning what-so-ever and the cheese was tasteless too (both the queso and the shredded cheese). If you know me, I love my cheese and this was just sad. The chips had seasoning... You Do Not Season Tortilla Chips!!!! And the salsa was only marginally good. For what I paid, I could have saved 25% cost at Taco Cabana and gotten 150% better food. Papasitos is 200% better, and the local Moe's is at least 125% better. Moe's and Taco Cabana both give better quality for the money, and Papasitos has both better quality and far larger portions for what you pay! I went here on a whim after they were talked up on Lightning 100 and suffice to say, they don't know anything about good Mexican or Tex-Mex at that station. Why one star, if my experience was this bad shouldn't I be saying I wish I could give zero stars? While this is true, there is one, Just One, thing Swanky's does right. Do I have your attention now? Good, the one thing they do right is that they do not charge extra for guacamole. I will give them that, but that is about it. I will not be returning anytime soon though. Even though they do charge extra for guacamole, Moe's is far superior and just over the interstate from this abomination.

Here is a trivia question for you: Name two places in Nashville that have Trivia Nights. If you answered Ming's Laundry on Nolensville and Taco Bell, then you are WRONG! DING DING DING! Swanky's is one place that has aforesaid Trivia Nights (on Wednesdays at 8) The decor is nice and for a tequila connoisseur such as myself, it is another place (the only other besting Swanky's being Sol in downtown Franklin) with a moderately decent choice of heady tequilas. Food choices were meh! for a Vegetosaurus like me, but the infinite chips and salsa refills were nice. Waitresses were amenable and the trivia nights are pretty fun, even if my answer was Jimmy Carter for all the questions. the other place is The Flying Saucer (on Tue nights)

I don't understand why people dislike this place? Is it the best Tex Mex in the country? No. Is it fresh mexican for a reasonable price? Yes. Don't go in expecting Santa Ana to cook you a meal, and you will leave happy. They do all of the necessities well except for the regular margaritas. I thought we were beyond the marg mix Nashville. Rosepepper has shown us the way. Other than that, everything was good to very good.

Mexican restaurant? Two Stars. Bar? Four stars. I keep wanting to go back, but alas I'm old, married, and I'm a dad now. Nightlife for me is a visit to WalMart on a Friday night so I can do my grocery shopping without the lines that come on a Saturday or Sunday. If I WERE the type to party though and didn't feel like hitting the club... this is definitely a spot where I could lounge about while enjoying some queso, chips, and a Corona

I have wanted to try this place for some time expecting some phenomenal cuisine. The ordering was really weird, the gal behind the counter actually told us the sauce my wife wanted to order on the side was absolutely disgusting. Strange sales technique to say the least, she then knocked over all the drink cups and stated don't worry they only cost a penny a piece. I have a feeling she wont be there too long. I ordered the Tuna Taco which is new to the menu. I found it to be a little tasteless and the tuna was overpowered by.other seasonings. My wife ordered a shrimp quesadilla which was very greasy even though the shrimp were quite good. I felt overall it is way overpriced for what they offer.
(2)Phillip N.
Great food and service. You can create your own burrito, salad, bowl, or choice of three tacos with as many toppings as you want for around $8. Server was polite and helpful. Chips and salsa should have been complimentary.
(4)Stefanie P.
Swanky's is a nicer Chipotle, and when i say "nicer" I mean they have carpet and serve margaritas. After an evening of shopping, my friend and I wanted to wine down with a margarita and some light munchies. We decided to try Swankys. It was about 8:30 and the place was pretty dead with crushed tortilla chips on the floor. All the food comes out on disposable containers, including your soft drinks. You can get a specialty item, or you can get a 'this-is-what-i-want-check-list" where you pick your toppings for either your tacos, burrito or salad. The server was more of a 'buffet' style server, where they just bus your table and take your check-list order from you. When I got my custom tacos, I was thinking I was really going to get blown away by the wonderful ingredients I had chosen. Well, they were JUST tacos, nothing to rave about. The drinks were okay, very very sweet. The only sound we heard while were eating was of the roller-vacuum was picking up 1 chip at time. No music. Swanky's lived up to its name in the bathrooms, which are very nice and swanky. Honest. Check em out!

I have finally fond nachos worth eating in Nashville. After living in this city for 3 years, I had given up hope that any store in the city knew how to serve nachos. We stumbled on Swanky's because of a "Foodie Deal". My wife and I went for dinner. We had the nachos and 'queso and chorizo" as an appetizer and then she got barbacoa tacos and I got a chicken chimichanga. The servings were large with adequate spice. The margaritas were also very stiff. I will definitely be returning. I look forward to seeing how the rest of their menu is. This isn't another chain tex-mex restaurant. This was a good quality meal!

Excellent "quattro" appetizer. Seated near the bar, fun & comfortable. Margaritas galore.

Swanky Tacos. Isn't that an oxymoron? Swanky is stylishly luxurious and expensive. A taco is a cheap Mexican food predating the current language of the aforementioned country. So heading in to Swanky's Tacos I ask Swanky and Taco, are they Swanky, or are they Tacos? Swanky: It's stylin' in here. It's not a Taco Bell, or a Mexican restaurant with campy decor. Taco: Tacos are on the menu. Swanky: Tequila flights. 3 shots 1 price. There is more to tequila here than Jose' Cuervo. Taco: The server didn't know the tequila flights were on the drinks menu. Swanky: They have a drink menu. Taco: They have 2 or 3 copies of the drink menu for the whole restaurant, so if you don't ask for it, it doesn't exist. Swanky: Food is super fresh tasting, and very customizable. Taco: If you're not creative, you can get a pretty basic, albeit fresh, taco. Swanky: Tapas! Taco: Only 5 Tapas, one of them being Nachos, so you can't really make a meal of Tapas. Swanky: You wouldn't feel out of place here in a shirt and tie. Taco: You will dribble a black bean down that tie. Wear a t-shirt and jeans. Swanky: $51 for 2 people. Taco: The water glass is a big plastic cup, like something from a sporting event, that would also cost you $51 In the end, it is a perfect balance of Swanky and Taco, and It earns a balanced 3 stars. Now I need to see if there is a restaurant named "Tasty's Rice Cakes"

Swanky's is ALMOST Awesome. From its almost awesome ambiance, almost awesome service and to its almost awesome food. First off I'll freely admit that I'm a girthy guy, but this is one of the only places I've been to where the booth is simply too small. The seating is really cramped. Even after moving to a table there was very little room for nearby patrons. They do have some Great Salsa. The service average. We identified ourselves as first time patrons, but the waitress failed to mention a choice of corn or flour tortilla. I did not like the Corn tortilla at all. The ingredients were delicious, but my taco was not as good as I think it would have been with a flour tortilla The Taco was very messy though, and I requested extra napkins. The waitress went to retrieve them, but when returning she walked to a table past ours WITH the napkins and proceeded to have a conversation with those patrons only to come back to my table with the napkins after this exchange. It would have been much nicer for my shirt if she had just dropped the napkins off as she passed. Atmosphere is a big selling point and I can certainly see why people would enjoy going there. Hopefully if I return the overall experience will be better and more enjoyable.

pretty darned good food -- Barbacoa and beer. I didn't want chain restaurant food. This was a goo alternative

I love Swanky's! Get the grilled fish tacos - amazing. They also have trivia on Wednesday nights with great drink specials... tons of fun - and the servers are great!

First I'll talk about getting to go from here for lunch. I have had a burrito bowl twice and a salad once. The salad was HUGE and I couldn't finish it. I didn't really enjoy the salad because there was a lot of white lettuce - I'd rather they use spinach - and a lot of "juices" at the bottom of the bowl. However, I really enjoy the burrito bowls. They are smaller and they mix of flavors is great. I love the rice and the medium salsa. So far chicken is my favorite meat vs. the barbacoa which I found to be super greasy. I love the guacamole (free!). And for some reason I love collecting their plastic cups for soda. Really, it's one of the draws of this place for me. I've also had Swanky's cater a work lunch. They are awesome for this! I ordered a fajita bar which has a million things for people to choose from to build their own fajitas. It's only $10/person. Great deal, in my opinion. I also added on the queso for $1/person. The queso isn't the best out there, but it's decent. I probably wouldn't order it again. They were on time and very organized. I definitely recommend using Swanky's for catering a quick, informal lunch. And Swanky's has a gluten free menu! Some day I won't just come in to get a burrito bowl to go, and I'll actually order something else off the extensive gluten free menu.
(3)Trace S.
I'd give them 3.5 stars if it was possible. Not quite worthy of 4, but close! The first time I went to Swanky's I was really impressed! I had their chicken quesadilla. It is a little unique. It's made with a chipotle-like chicken mix and served with a garlic sauce that goes perfectly with it. I loved every bite and it was a BIG quesadilla, too. The 2nd visit I tried their Fish Tacos. Excellent Fish Tacos! My only complaint is that there are only 2 of them and the price is a little steep for that in my opinion. But you can excuse the price if you're able to appreciate the quality of these tacos, which I was able to justify. My 3rd visit stunk! I tried their Nachos. I should have known better since I was not impressed with the chips they serve with salsa on previous visits. They are a lighter tortilla chip than most places serve. While I can give them an E for effort, and not just serving some lame Sysco Distribution chips, their chips are especially not suited to nachos. They become a soggy mess within a minute or two after being served. I'm on my way to try Swanky's for the 4th time and will report back!
(4)Gerald P.
I have to get my Swank On once a week at least. Go for the nachos or quesadillas and you won't be disappointed. Good eatin' plus you get to keep the cup.
(5)Alishah N.
I used to really like Swanky's - then I got food poisoning from there, and spent 3 days in bed really sick. I tried the place again after a few months and left feeling pretty ill. I spoke with some friends and co-workers, and apparently just about everyone I know who's eaten regularly at Swanky's as gotten pretty ill at some point or another because of their food. While the place has good service, a nice atmosphere, and good value, there food will inevitably make you sick...I avoid the place completely now.
(1)Joshua B.
I always feel like giving 3 stars to a place is bad in some way - but don't take it like that at all. Swanky's is a good place for some food. They have burritos and tacos and other tasty morsels as well. However, I have been during the day once and at night once and both times the service underwhelmed me. During the day (and during times when the weather is warmer) it is a great place to sit on the patio and have a drink or seven. The chips were decent - the salsa didn't blow me away. The queso was pretty good however. But, it wasn't different enough or good enough for me to remember anything specific about the queso - other than it was good. However, the chips I do remember. They didn't have just salt on them as is standard for most tortilla chips. There were also some other spices sprinkled over our chips. Not sure exactly what it was - but, it was decent. Swanky's excels in a few places however. First, they do have a great atmosphere. The food is decent - but not better (or worse) than I've had other places. They also have going for them a great selection of tequilas. And, apparently, they staff people who know a LOT about the tequilas. I didn't know there was that much to know! I just thought - you have enough of it and your clothes magically disappear. I'm not sure how it happens - but it just does. Apparently there is more to tequila than its ability to make you naked. Again, I hate giving 3 stars because I think 3 stars is average. And I know when I'm looking for a place to go and searing Yelp - I'm not looking for average. I want something great! So, I feel that it is worth checking out - I just didn't think it was different enough to make it stand out in my mind. But I will come back for the atmosphere and tequila. Maybe I'll ask the tequila experts if there is any that keeps my clothes on! I'll put that on my 'to do' list.
(3)Lakisha J.
I thoroughly enjoy Swanky's for lunch. I typically eat there once a week or so. Most of the guys who work there are nice. Service is fast, food is decent especially when I'm in the mood for chicken tacos. It's fast food not dinner at a top restaurant with international chefs. I especially love their chips when they are warm and the queso is decent. The chips have a dusting of seasonings which taste great! It's quick and inexpensive. I've had a couple of drinks there and the bartender was knowledgeable about the different tequilas. The atmosphere is better than Moe's and I can actually have an alcoholic beverage other than beer.
(4)Bruno D.
Unimpressive. Average food Good service
(3)David G.
I did not realize that I had not yet reviewed Swanky's as I have been here on several occasions for lunch because it is very close to my work in Cool Springs. It is an upscale version of Chipotle - that's how I would described the place. The spices and the flavoring are better than Chipotle but the offerings very similar. The portion sizes are large, but no larger than Chipotle. Most of the experience is similar to a Chipotle experience. The decor is just nicer at Swanky's.
(3)Anita A.
Swanky's is MY favorite spot. The fried fish tacos and the roasted garlic sauce AND the cilantro lime rice are the best in Nashville! The name threw me for a loop but I'm so glad I tried it. I'm hooked! Now to quiet the monster in my belly!....
(5)Crabby O.
Funny apparently some of the reviewers are expecting a gourmet meal for $7. The fact that Swanky's has a great dining room and table service perhaps some folks forgot that IT BASICALLY IS FAST FOOD. Chipotle is a fair comparison, but this food is better and the dining room is great. I love the cards where you can choose your individual ingredients. It's a fun, comfortable place and my kids love it. If you want to eat food inspired by Mexico without smelling Pine-Sol, without having bad Tejano music blaring in your ears, without deperately trying to flag down sweaty food-stained waiters for your check so you can stand in line at the register/candy stand, etc... give this place a try.
(5)Heather C.
If Chipotle or Qdoba let you order from your table and had a lot more options, and the burrito bowls were even larger, this would be it. Our server recommended the quest but it was so tasteless we sent it back. She also recommended the spicy buttermilk ranch which was phenomenal. Drinks come in huge to go cups.
(4)Margaret C.
Gave the place another chance after work last week. First, I noticed that the evening management has stepped it up. There were people proactively cleaning and taking care of customers and much less standing around chit-chatting. I have always been a fan of their chips, salsa, and cheese dip - that did not disappoint. I had the chicken burrito that night while my husband made his own burrito bowl. The food and service was good and enjoyable.
(3)Tonya O.
Since I had never been to Swanky's, I felt that I needed to order the tacos, because....well, Tacos is in their name! If I ever give Swanky's another chance, I won't be getting the tacos. I'm an accident-prone eater (meaning that my shirt often wears my food), and ordering the tacos was a big mistake for me. The ingredients seemed to just be thrown in the shells and was spilling out all over and even filling the bottom of my basket. To combat the accident-proneness that I am used to experiencing, I ate the tacos with my fork instead of like a taco. Be aware: the soft tacos are made from corn tortillas instead of the commonly used flour tortillas. You can request flour tortillas, but we found this out after we had ordered, so that wasn't very helpful. I'll probably give Swanky's one more try just because the ingredients were very delicious, but I won't be ordering the tacos again.
(2)Adam S.
I went to this place over a year ago and got the burrito. I did not like it at all. I was expecting chicken pieces but it was shredded chicken. I did not expect to go back there but my gf wanted to try it. We both got the burrito bowls, basically all the burrito but without the wrap. This time I really enjoyed eating the food. Instead of choosing the chicken I chose the steak. Great choice! The steak was cooked perfect. The bowl was HUGE, mainly because I chose a lot of toppings. I would go back there again and get the burrito bowl.
(4)Shervondalonn B.
The Fish tacos were great. I also liked the chorizo wonton appetizer. The service was excellent. Lena was awesome.
(4)Melissa B.
I don't consider 3 stars bad.. The description when you click says "A-OK" and that's exactly how I feel about Swanky's. Husband and I were out in Cool Springs and had been caught in Christmas traffic for about an hour. As we approached the interstate I proclaimed that I was going to die if we didn't stop for food right. then. Swanky's rang a bell from my time in Memphis so I wanted to stop in. I was confused when I first entered because the Swanky's I frequented when I lived in Memphis was like a "Moe's-style" down-the-line ordering experience and here I had a server. Hmm. Turns out they do the line during lunch and then have servers. Our server told us that "people really get confused by that." Um, yeah, they do. Pick one. I thought that was a pretty goofy way to run a restaurant - because when you have a server, you are just as likely to order from a checklist that she hands you as you are from the menu (think SATCO). So what am I tipping for if you just bring me a plate that I ordered myself (or, in our case, your coworker brought our food)? Bizarre. Husband and I both got chicken dishes - he the burrito on a wheat tortilla and me the salad bowl. Well, I checked in on Foursquare and got a free chips and salsa special, so that was cool. I loved the salsa and the chips were fresh and crispy. One complaint - they don't bring you a lot of salsa! A whole big basket of chips and like a 2-oz. ramekin of salsa. I went to the bathroom and when I got back, husband had eaten all the salsa. Geez. Our food.. ok I love spicy food, but as I dug into my salad I noticed that the juices at the bottom, when coating the food, were SUPER spicy. My eyes welled up with tears from how hot it was. I thought maybe it was just "pregnant taste buds" imagining things until my husband got to the middle of his burrito and said, "Whoa!" He must have hit the juicy part of the seasonings too, and he mentioned that it was way too hot for his taste (and he isn't a spice sissy!). All in all, my salad was fresh and the lettuce crispy, and all the things I asked for were on there (except sour cream, which I didn't notice until I was almost done), but I couldn't taste the seasonings on the chicken at all. All I could taste was HOT. The fact that by the time I was done my lips felt like I'd used an entire tube of that cinnamon lip gloss crap that sets your lips on fire really turned me off. In fact, just thinking about it now is making my mouth feel hot. I might change my review to 4 stars if I went back and it wasn't so spicy; maybe on that night whoever mixed up the chicken and seasonings was too heavy-handed with the heat. I'd like to taste what their seasonings actually taste like and not just SPICY. I'd try it again but preferably during the day when you don't have to tip a server just to bring you a drink.
(3)J C.
I'll echo David O.'s review of Swanky's: It's ALMOST awesome. The food is pretty great, but the prices are a tad too rich for my taste. I can get similar food at Blue Coast Burrito or Baja Fresh for less money. But the fish tacos keep calling be back. While I don't eat there often, when I do, I generally have a good experience.
(3)Megan B.
Service was good, but food was just average - and then quite awful. My husband ordered fish tacos, of which I had 1 bite, and we both got seriously ill for 3 full days. We were both violently ill with food poisoning of the worst kind and we won't be back. I've read a few reviews where others got food poisoning, so I think Swanky's needs to focus on food safety.
(1)Yvonne O.
Thank you Swanky's for saving us from gross banquet food and serving up yummy appetisers and friendly service on a Saturday night! Who knew a strip mall could have such amazing food!
(4)Shelly S.
Had veggie tacos on soft corn tort. Not bad. Not stellar. Would go back again for lunch.
(3)Jessica N.
Qusadillas and house chips are amazing.
(3)Jen C.
I went here for lunch today because my friend was craving Mexican food. Being from California I was skeptical how "Mexican" this place would be. And I was right, it's very Americanized. If you have been to Chipotle, it's pretty much a knock-off of that concept. You pick your base (soft or hard shell tacos, bowl, burrito, etc) and then pick the ingredients you put in it. They also have tapas dishes (quesadillas, nachos, etc). Their meat looked like something that was broiled in the oven (gross) so I got a Vegatarian Burrito Bowl. It was pretty tasty but nothing compared to my love for Chipotle! They had a tequila bar so I enjoyed a margarita on the rocks. It was ok but not strong enough for me (they are pre-made). I would go back if someone suggested to go, but if I was making the decision I would probably choose somewhere else.
(3)Melissa B.
I went here tonight with a group of friends. We wanted to do something different and we had coupons for this place out of the CitiPass book. The coupons were for B1G1, so that made the deal even sweeter. When we arrived, I expected a great margarita because they have a tequila bar. However, this was not the case. The margaritas were pre-made and it was obvious that their "tequila bar" was useless. Our server was pretty snooty and not very helpful at all. I don't think the servers were very experienced at customer service. Just my opinion. The food was very good. I had a veggie burrito and it was excellent. I love the fact that they serve whole wheat tortillas (by request) and have healthy menu options. I doubt I would make a special trip back to this place. I can get almost the same quality at Chipolte, Qdoba, or Moe's.
(2)Brad B.
in my opinion, style over substance. reminded me of a recent UK version 'kitchen nightmares' episode where the owner really wanted a bar, but was (badly) running a restaurant instead. too dark -- this isn't the W hotel, it's a taco place in Cool Springs. tried some tortilla soup & fish tacos with black beans. Asked for a cup of soup, received (and was charged for) a bowl. ok, pretty salty, nothing special. black beans were mysterious - hard to screw these up but they had apparently been overcooked to the point where they were mid point between black beans & refried black beans from a consistency standpoint. i could eat black beans 2x a day and I left these on the plate. fish taco - again, eh, not bad but nothing special. pricey for a small amount of food. this struck me as mexican for people that are afraid to go to Mexican restaurants. I won't return.

It is just what it sounds like.....tacos....swkany style. Its a great lunch spot for someone a little more grown up. I went to this place with co workers for lunch. Its good for groups due to their seating arrangements. Lots of very long tables. Its comfty and good for conversation. Its not to loud in there. Prices are good in comparison to what you get. The place is clean and styled well. Good place for a quick bite or a sit down lunch time conversation. It doesn't need to fall to high on your must go list......its a causal lunch done right.

Great food! The only reason i gave it a 4 was because they need more food on the menu. I had fish tacos, which were pretty good..but my husband had the chicken chimichanga which was amazing! Great salsa comes with your meal, tastes homemade with lots of cilantro. We also had the queso and it was great too. A huge variety of beers if you are a drinker.

I like the "almost awesome" comments by David O. and Jennifer C. However, I'd lower it to "almost great." It is prettier than other burrito restaurants, but it's a glorified squat and gobble. Blue Coast is better, though it usually has more children and mothers with children (messy) and can be very crowded. I've never seen or heard of Swankys being crowded. (I take that as a bad sign.) Also, my office is within walking distance from Swankys. We will load up and go to Blue Coast a couple times a month, where we've been to Swankys twice.

no atmosphere at this place. food tastes like any other corporate conglomerate. not mexican in any way, shape or form. visited for dinner. service was lifeless. EVEN THE PATIO has no personality. was not impressed.

When this place first opened, I would have given it four stars. My husband and I enjoyed eating there, whether for lunch or dinner. However, it seems that something drastic has happened there. They have gone completely downhill. I always get the fried fish tacos. Tonight the fish had a coating that was rock hard and tasted burnt. The fish was laid on two open flour tortillas, that had turned to slippery goo from sitting on the plate. On top was some really bad pico de gallo. Not only did it not have any hint of flavor, but it was made with mushy tomatoes. Instead of crispy cabbage, there was old limp lettuce. The "vegetables" were limp yellow and red peppers and the rice was nondescript. We used to love the smokey chipotle taste of their salsa; tonight it tasted as bland as ketchup. I don't think we will be going back--ANY other Mexican restaurant would be better than this place, now, in my opinion. (We don't drink alcohol, so I can't comment on their bar drinks.)
(1)Lisa N.
Overrated fast food made to simulate a restaurant. The menu doesn't have enough selection, but they have a fix... just pick the ingredients you want on your burritto wrap. The establishment boasts of their Margarita Bar, but I'm an accomplished 'Rita' fan and they were mediocre at best. The burrito I ordered was delivered wrapped in an aluminum sandwich wrap and served in a paper tray. The queso tasted like processed cheese.
(2)Todd M.
Very unimpressive. Cozymel's or Moe's destroys this place. I tried it 3 times again giving them more than enough chances. Small drinks, food served cold, soft shells not steamed, orders incorrect. It just sucks. Dont waste your time here, go to Bosco's next door or Cozymel's down the street.

My wife and I have visited Swanky's Taco Shop many times. The food is great. I ordered a burrito bowl. The food was very fresh and delicious. I liked how the restaurant changes from fast casual during lunch to full service at night.
(5)Nicole P.
The quesadilla was delicious! They make it with an awesome garlic sauce! The decor and atmosphere were weird, but the staff was friendly!

Your mileage may vary. Swanky's is worth a visit, but only if you keep your expectations in check. When this place opened some 6-7 years ago it was a fave with interesting fare, brisk service, and a little grease (which is good for Southwestern/Mexican cuisine.) It had a good mix of family and business traveler vibe while maintaining great bar service and the occasional fantastic bartender. There was usually a crowd. I still drop in now and again hoping to feel a new pulse beating. The margaritas are still good. I prefer the small plate/appetizer offerings (I'm partial to the chorizo wontons.) The food is still slightly overpriced for what's still fast-food fare, but a cut above the Bell and close to consistent. The last nachos I ordered (Fall 2014) were covered with watered-down queso. That was a spiritual sign from Bob. Tonight's visit found no chips & salsa offered with the margarita, no napkin or fork offered with the small plate, and no follow-up for another round. That's lost income and it's me gone until I feel the need to check a Swanky pulse again. (I saw Bob signing again from the corner of my good eye.) So, what happened? I think competition happened followed by frequent management changes, mediocre staffing, and what seems to be indecision about what market this place is really targeting. The result is sad, really. You never know what you're going to walk into and that weakens the customer experience. I've never visited the original store in Memphis, but I'm hopeful this isn't the Memphis experience. Will the Franklin team rise from the ashes of a burning burrito? Is Bob really spiritual? Is this an epitaph or a review? Time will tell.

Been a couple times because it is close to work. It is ok but not great. Kind of pricey for what you get.

So had a little mishap tonight. My food took way too long such that my family had completed their meal by the time I got my chicken enchiladas. So why four stars? Because the manager recognized something was wrong when I went up to inquire about the delay. He apologized and comped the meal. Had he not have done that, its likely it would have been a long while, before I'd return. Mistakes happen, I get that, so its cool the manager did what he could to fix the error. I remain a fan of swanky's and the chicken enchiladas rock!
(4)Sierra B.
This place is ok. It's kinda like chipotle. The food is highly mediocreand quite flavorless. There were flies on the meat and when I told the lady she jus looked at me. It's kind of pricy for what it is.

I came to Swanky's taco shop recently and I had a positive experience. Swanky's is basically Chipotle meets a sit down restaurant/bar. One can come in to Swanky's and order tacos or burritos from the Chipotle style counter or sit down at the restaurant and order from separate grill in the back. They also have a nice bar and multiple televisions. There's no doubt that the venue is really nice and they also have an outdoor seating area. I ordered a ton of food because I was absolutely starving. From the grill I ordered the seared ahi tuna tacos. These came with grilled vegetables and chips. I thought the tuna was pretty good, but maybe a little spicy. Then again, I have little tolerance for anything hotter than Frank's Red Hot sauce so really, I'm a giant pussy (also the menu does denote that the sauce is spicy). The tacos didn't come with any beans, rice or cheese which I think would have improved the taste. It was basically tuna, in taco shells with sauce. The tuna was acceptable/good which is all i can really say about that. I ordered queso with the chips instead of the salsa it comes with and they gave a generous portion of queso and it was quite good. I would definitely say that chipotle style food saved/improved the experience. From there, I ordered three corn tortillas two with steak and one with chicken. I thought the steak was tender and tasty and the chicken was good too. I would say Chiptole meets Subway with the wide array of free additions one can add to their taco. I topped my steak, rice and beans off with guacomole, cheese, banana peppers, black olives, lettuce and tomatoes. One smart aspect is they wrap the taco in tin foil because those little guys basically become mini burritos. Lastly, the customer service was excellent. The dude behind the counter was friendly, the girl at the register was very sweet and the bartender was nice too. I think Swanky's is good or as Yelp puts it, A-OK.
(3)Chris J.
Gave them a shot and happy I did. Tried: - shrimp ceviche which is pretty good - Fish taco was excellent Fast friendly service
(4)Blake T.
Good fish tacos - pretty much anything with the garlic cream sauce on it is good. The queso is bland, so I order guac.
(3)Meghan R.
Really really wanted to fall in love with this place. Heard great things but just wasn't impressed. The chips and guac were the best. The nachos were slightly soggy and the quesadilla was way to crispy. The margaritas however were well made and service was fantastic.
(2)Wynter F.
I really enjoyed swanky's. I think it might have a similar concept to Chipotle but also very different. You walk in and there is a big menu on the wall for you to look at as well as menus in a holder that you can hold and look at better especially if there is a line. As you keep walking this is where it is similar to a Chipotle. You tell your order to someone standing behind the counter and keep walking to the register. The girl at the register was friendly, asked what I ordered and asked if I wanted anything to drink. I ordered shrimp tacos and a margarita. She then puts chips and a cup of salsa on a tray with a table number. I sat down at a table with the rest of my group and the margarita came out within a minute of me sitting down. Then, the food started arriving within a couple more minutes. The shrimp tacos had two tacos with rice and grilled veggies. I loved the shrimp tacos! The shrimp was grilled with perfectly and with the right amount of spices. The rice wasn't the most flavorful but went together pretty well with the grilled veggies. The margarita was a little weak but for me it was good since I don't like the taste of alcohol all that much. I know, I am weird. Margaritas are my favorite though when I do drink. There was a guy walking around to make sure everyone was doing good. He made sure to stop by our table a couple of times to make sure everything was to our liking. He also cleared away dishes away from our table when we were done eating. I was still eating so unfortunately my dishes were not cleared and the one part that I was unsure of was whether I had to clear everything off the table or if I was supposed to just leave it. Otherwise, great experience and if I am in the area I would definitely stop by. Friendly people and good food.
(4)David M.
Swanky's Taco Shop is a good Taco restaurant. I really like the way they have their meat seasoned. Try it.
(4)Jenny P.
I've been to swankys about 5 times and had a good experience each time. The atmosphere is great, the ingredients are good quality, and the potions are very generous. I'll definitely be going back.
(4)Christina H.
Similar to a chipotle or cafe rio type of place. Not swanky at all but very good food with large portions. Limited menu, walk through the line to get your food. There is a bar if you want a beverage.
(4)Ryan P.
Came here for a work lunch and the place was packed. Seemed like the standard build a burrito place, except you can also get custom things and appetizers, with a full bar if you wanted it. Had 2 appetizers, one had chorizo. Very good, very fast, and very filling. Cost was a bit steep for it, and that would be my only real complaint. This is no your standard Moes or Blue Cost, and that's a good thin sometimes. When you want a drink with your burrito, com to Swanky's.
(4)Chris W.
Was not very impressed, it was right in same complex as my hotel so wanted to give it a try and was disappointed. Had the fish tacos, the shell was good and the dressing was good, but it was "warm" not "hot"on the temp so kinda was so-so. Fish was so-so. Server must have been new, she was not very aware of a lot of things about he menu, overall service was so-so. Okay for quick bite but would not recommend if you are looking for a good dinner and good experience.
(2)Lyrad V.
Been here twice. Biggest complaint is that they don't serve fajita chicken! Only shredded. Food is decent. Nothing amazing, but nothing to complain about. I was hoping for more because it seem's like a cool place and they have a patio. Oscar's Taco Shop is much cheaper and their food is excellent.
(3)Karen L.
This is really a 3 1/2 star review. My first experience with Swanky's. I agree with other reviewers that it's not entirely clear what the diner should do when you enter. It is counter service with food delivery. But I had to hunt down napkins and silver. Signature tacos are made to order in the back. Highlight was the seared tuna taco. Perfectly prepared and assembled. Definitely 4 star. The steak carbon taco was okay but nothing special. Sides (chips, rice, beans) were also unremarkable except the salsa was delightful! I would return for the tuna taco and salsa.
(4)Bill F.
Had high hopes for this spot. With an amazing name like this...I was more than hopeful...I was sure this place would deliver on the promise of tremendous tacos. Only problem is I'm spoiled. I have District Taco that has set the bar pretty damn high here in DC. Swanky was just ok. I got some different tacos...I.E. Fried Crawfish Tacos and such. But again they didn't blow my socks off. Chipotle is better.
(3)Dennis D.
Food is good. I eat here Every so often on lunch. It is kind of pricy, especially if you're just getting a burrito and drink ~11 bucks.
(4)Johny A.
Nothing special , same ol'fake Mexican food ... Place looks nice lol , a bit pricy but again that's not unusual from a place like this , most places like this are around the same price range. Parking is kinda tight if you make it for lunch hour rush , their service is pretty quick , meaning you won't wait long on line
(2)James P.
Similar set up to a Cafe Rio or Chipotles, the food was good but basic. Not super fresh ingredients or fresh made shells. Standard fare. In the West we have placed like this with Super fresh homemade ingredients: Cafe Rio & Costs Vida, if your going to do this, and survive, follow their lead.
(3)Johnny D.
Arrived at 9:25pm, staff stared as we walked up. Turned off the "open" sign as we came to the door and retreated to the kitchen to avoid conversation. The door says they close at 10:00pm. Instead of welcoming guests, they turn them away. Bad business practice. Staff doesn't care. Lost a few hungry customers.
(1)Kate S.
I absolutely love this place. You can make your own custom tacos or choose one off the menu. The queso is absolutely amazing and so is their salsa. If you go you should definitely try those out.
(5)Danny N.
Swanky's is a nicer version of Chipotle with a full bar. I recommend getting the salads because they are huge and you can have them put in exactly what you like similar to other Tex Mex places. I like to stop by when looking for a quick lunch that is still sit down.
(4)Marina T.
Both times I have been my rice has been rock hard and black beans have been cold. Get it together those are staples of Mexican food! Over priced for what you get.
(2)Rebecca C.
Entered and was a little confused at what to do- sit down, walk to the grill, go to cashier? Still not sure. Ended up ordering from the guy at the grill. We got the special tacos vegetarian and fish as well as 2 for 1 margaritas. Chips and salsa were good, margaritas were good, veg. tacos were not good/worth $10, fish tacos were alright. Sides were very, very bland. The atmosphere was really relaxed. Good music. Sports were on the TV but not in a distracting way. Generally clean. Lots of seating. Staff was attentive and friendly, but not hovery. Swanky restrooms.
(3)Melanie B.
After visiting Swanky's numerous times after my review I have to say that I really like it now. They have created some new beverages like a frozen sangria that is really good, but also strong. I hate getting alcohol and not being able to taste it. Also I like their build your own salads. I usually end up with a tasty salad that is well worth the money. The service I normally receive there is great as well.
(4)Kara W.
I've been traveling to Franklin for work and have been to Swanky's three times (2 lunch, 1 dinner). I absolutely love it. I get the vegetarian burrito bowl and they load it with veggies then I add everything similar to chipotle (black bean, rice, guac, etc). My favorite part is they have a garlic sauce that I add instead of sour cream. Their chips are free if you don't get salsa/queso and they have a delicious seasoning on them. You have to try this place if you like chipotle and want to try something new!
(4)Pete D.
Think Chipotle with a bar, and few desserts. I come here for Wed Trivia night, and it's not an amazing culinary experience, but it's fine. They need more local beers on tap in my opinion. Staff was attentive when I was there, with a manager type working the tables and checking in on people. If you go here with reasonable expectations, you won't be disappointed.
(3)Mo Z.
Nice and clean with great service. Guacamole was a little bland but that's my only complaint. Tuna tacos were amazing!
(4)Rheonna W.
I can't help it...I still love their food! It's good for lunch because I can ride there, order at the counter, sit outside on patio to eat (love sitting outside!) they bring your lunch out to you, it's quick. Prices are a bit steep for lunches. I love their Chips and Salsa!
(4)Katie I.
Clean and modern. Chicken seasoning is just god awful- it's not spicy, but it's orangey in color, bland, and tastes institutional. The nachos would have been better had I not chosen chicken. Chips were weird. They had the same orange seasoning on them. Chipotle is way better and fresher. Nothing swanky here but the decor.
(2)S J.
I love this place! Their barbacoa keeps me coming back time and time again. Perfectly cooked, a little spicy and its wonderful.
(5)Angela K.
Good food but little pricey. Easy in & out parking. Lines during business lunch hours.
(4)Sheena T.
I like Swanky's. When I worked down the street I would frequent this location for lunch and it is good for a pick up order. The burrito bowls are excellent, I switched to the veggie after getting the chicken and not being a huge fan (reminded me of shredded canned chicken) but always had a great meal with the veggie bowl. The salsas are spicy and awesome, and most of the time the ingredients seem pretty fresh. The fish tacos are really good, and whatever seasoning they put on their chips is amazing! I'm not giving them 4 stars because of the chicken and sometimes the veggies don't seem very fresh, but it's still a solid place to go for lunch!
(3)Michael T.
Awesome well seasoned food and friendly and fast service the toppings are all great for a moderate price.
(5)Scott A.
Great place to custom build your own style taco from tons of choices. Don't expect a fancy restaurant - it's a bar. But fresh tacos on demand make this a regular!
(4)Sam L.
Average Mexican food; I prefer Chipotle. The salad and burrito bowls are decent sized but are over dressed with sauce. Good drinks.
(2)Allie R.
Considering my obsession for tacos, swanky's is my kind of place. I went in for happy hour after work one day, and got a chicken taco salad to go. Please note, if you get a chicken taco salad to go you don't get a taco bowl, good think I ordered the tortilla strips to come in it. Their shredded shicken is really good and the spicy ranch is AWSOME. I went back again another time for lunch and got the three chicken tacos, again really good, their shells are a little thin, and I think some of their food could be hotter, I know that's hard to do with the buffet set up they have. I like it a lot, will probably be back for lunch in the future :)
(4)Madison W.
Unique take on the Mexican-Americana food offering. The chips are home made and very very good. Most the entrees are good, but some certainly stand out more than others. The nachos are also a great item to split as a meal bc it's a massive serving. Either way, it's a fresh approach to the food you already love, so try it out.
(4)Sarah B.
I am frequently an unpopular Yelp reviewer. I enjoy chain places. I also enjoy locally owned businesses. Some yelpers say why do you review a chain place, they are all the same and snub their nose. I'm not that girl because a) I haven't visited every chain restaurant and department store on the planet yet, and b) they are not always the same. I have a favorite Carribean restaurant that is a chain locally, and I will tell you which locations I like and which one I don't, and they are within the same geographic area. Managers are different, cooks are different, you just never know. I don't really know why I told you all that. I've only been to one location of Swanky's, and it's this one. I know it's a chain, I've seen others, just haven't been there. Some small things that I like that are not earth-shattering: - Think Blue Coast Burrito/Baja Burrito, but there's carpet. Does carpet impact the taste of your food? Nope. But it makes it's quieter, and I enjoy that. - Your entree is delivered on an actual plate or in an actual bowl. As in china, or probaly more specifically ceramic/glass/something else, but not disposable. And not a plastc basket that you are asked not to throw away repeatedly near every trash can in the place. - You can have a margarita if you want. 'Nuf said. The convenience of fast, with grown up perks. The food in my opinion is good. If it's lunchtime and I want a burrito, I'm not expecting my favorite Mexican owned by immigrants that on Friday night has a 20 minute wait. I just want a burrito, and if the place has good guacamole, all the better. That's Swanky's. I'm not a fan of spicy, so the fact that I can specify which salsa and each individual ingredient going in works for me. If you want to eat something so hot your tongue catches on fire, well, I worry about you. Overall, it's a good choice and I like the bold colors, comfy booths, and tables that are half booth/half table with comfy chairs, too. I'm not saying that the tacos aren't good at Oscar's or that someone else might not be a more gourmet experience - but you all go ahead, I'm good here, thanks.
(4)Charity B.
Absolutely the worst!!!!! The cheese dip was cold and we had to send it back twice! The silverware was dirty! The nachos were cold because of the cheese dip being cold!!! The girl at the register was sweet and honestly the only one who cared!! The diet coke and cookie was good since that was my entire meal! I feel like the flavor would have been good if it was hot, that's what thermometers are for!! Don't keep sending out cold food!! I guess all those years in the food and bar industry ruined me:( I really wanted to like the place. Oh well!!! We'll go to our normal Mexican place or oscar's from now on!!
(1)Kim Y.
I dunno - this place is like if Qdoba got nicer wood tables and straight from the mix machine margaritas. Its fine, nothing bad about it, but also nothing particularly 'swanky' to merit the approximately $2 per meal price increase. None of the items in my burrito bowl were of any higher quality than I would've received at any of the other numerous 'build your own' mexi-cali joints here in town. It tasted fine though and I'm sure its a solid option for all those office workers in the area - namely if the boss or corporate card is picking up the (slightly overpriced) tab. There were signs everywhere about being open late on weekends and happy hour prices on adult beverages. It makes me wonder whose 'scene' it is to have HH or to party at Chipotle?!?! Weird. ::shrugs::
(3)Teresa B.
I met some friends here for a work day lunch. Swanky's is much nicer than I expected - I guess I was expecting something like Moe's or Chile Burrito. I had the grilled fish tacos and they were awesome. They came with chips and salsa as well. I love the atmosphere and comfortable seating. I'll be back!
(4)Moni K.
Food is less than average. I've been here twice, once for lunch during the work week and once as takeout for dinner. First time had a burrito, second time we had a chicken quesadilla, a chicken salad and a taco. The burrito was totally less than average - wouldn't get it again. The chicken quesadilla and salad were poorly seasoned and the salad had barely any lettuce. The taco was okay. The service is nice and the place is clean, but the food just isn't good. West Coast burrito down the street is more authentic mexican (but maybe thats because I grew up on the west coast)...
