This place is tucked back in the corner of a complex that also holds Kroger and Dick's Sporting Goods, so there is plenty of parking. Decor is typical of Mexican restaurants, flashy and odd color choices. Service was not spectacular, as others have also mentioned. I had to seek out the server to get silverware as he rolled it. Now the food itself was mediocre at best. Many of the dishes listed on the menu come with either rice OR beans, but not both. I ordered the chicken chimichanga with rice and it was just "okay." The rice was just warm and lacked any flavor while the chicken was the type that just sits in a tomato based liquid to cook and hold till service. Overall I was not a fan and since I am not in the area often, I'm not likely to return.

After trying Nachos, I wanted to give this place a try. I was hoping that the Cool Springs/Franklin area was not completely devoid of good tex-mex. Honestly, they were okay, though they food could have benefited from more cheese and the salsa could have tasted like actual salsa instead of marinara sauce. However, what really knocked them down was the really bad case of indigestion I got afterwards. I don't plan on returning any time soon.

Food is ok, but the service was terrible. I sat without a refill on my drink for over 1/2 of my meal, and the price for the drink (tea) was over $2. I will never go back here. Not worth the money or my time.

The worse Mexican food I've ever eaten. The service was just as bad. Deserves 0 stars, but that apparently isn't an option.

This location is the exact reason of why I fell in love with them in the first place. My cousin and I used to go here all of the time and I would go on lunch breaks. I miss this location and didn't think I would get to have their food again until I found the one in my area. It's a good spot to go and their drinks are pretty good too.

This place used to be fantastic, but it has gone downhill in the last couple of years. The food tasted blah and the prices of gone up quite a bit. Even the amount of food served has decreased as well. I probably won't be back considering.

I have ALWAYS loved Las Palmas. The location is AMAZING. Yes, the decor is flashy and cheesy. And yes the service can be hit or miss. BUT they have ALWAYS accommodated our large parities and dozens of questions with smiles and patience -and for that I give them 5 stars. The margaritas are great and if you like outdoor seating, their patio is large and shaded. I enjoy the laid back atmosphere, good drinks, and the food always comes out quickly.

It was hands down the worst Mexican food I have ever had. It is your typical, run of thee mill, generic Mexican food restaurant, but done very poorly. The guacamole was flavorless, the carnitas were super dry, he chimichangas were tiny, and the fish tacos were so bad I sent them back and asked not to pay. I have honestly never done that before. It was really uncomfortable. The food aside, the service was terrible to boot.

I put 5 star to offset what i view as "unfair" reviews by other Yelper's... I would rate this place as a 3 star divey Mexican spot. I commonly come here for lunches during the week, but i just took the whole family here after church for the first time, looking for a decent cheap meal out. Side note: My favorite lunch is the Speedy (1 taco, 1 enchilada, and beans) I get chicken not the beef. All for $5.64 WITH over a 20% tip! Best deal in town! I love the beans with chips! Today we went and the manager was SUPER friendly. Our server was usual for this place- not great, not horrible. One server I've nicknamed "Ms. Personality" (and yes I speak the language of sarcasm). If you frequent this place, I'll let you figure out who she is... :-) So, today I forgot to order my meal with chicken. They brought beef-100% my fault. Because I really don't like tier beef flavoring and I really do like the chicken so much, I asked our server if they could replace it for me. I took full responsibility, and said I understood if they wouldn't but was still asking. Well they did replace it for me at no charge. and with the prices here I was surprised to have them do this for me since there is a smaller profit margin than say Chuys. My wife ate here for the first time. She loved it. She ordered the Chorizo. Having lived in Mexico for a while, her take was LP is an authentic American-Mexican restaurant. All in my family of 4 ate for $20 plus tip. No coupons used. So, the decor is better than a dive for sure, but not fine dining by any means. For great value, good food and unique servers, Las Palmas is the place. Please thumb up/comment if you liked this review and I would count it a privilege if you chose to follow me as I review places I travel and visit. Thank you for taking the time to read! ~mp

This used to be a favorite for lunch. Over time, the food quality seems to have suffered, and it also seems less clean than it was. Competition for Mexican food is tough -- there are half-dozen places within 2 miles of this place that are better.

I can't even begin to describe how good this place is! My family and I used to come here every single Thursday for at least 3 years. The restaurant is nice and festive and it has a great open area with lots of seating. During Christmas they have a very beautiful tree that they decorate also. They have wonderful margaritas here; perfect amount of tequila and mix. They also have a few Mexican beers to choose from. Lunch here is a great deal. It's fast, cheap, and good. One of my favorites is the Chimichanga! I'd also have to recommend getting the cheese dip here. I wish I knew what kind of cheese they use (I'm sure it's not too hard to find out). On second thought, maybe it's good that I don't or I'd be eating it nonstop. The staff is very friendly as well. We've made friends with many of them. Even though I'm not living in TN anymore, I still come back about 3 times a year. Guess where my first dinner always is?

Garbage. This place is terrible. The tamale is the only thing worth getting.

Hands down the worst Mexican food (and service) that we have had anywhere in the country. Here is a recap: Sala worst we've had. No onions, no peppers. Service VERY slow. Event to the point that we were served part of our order and then waited 5-8 minutes for the rest. I ended up using the Chip basket as a pate because none was provided for the fajitas. Food...our 10 year old refused to finish her dinner because it wasn't good...no taste. She wouldn't even eat the rice and beans. The food ended up making my wife sick. I would avoid Las Palmas.

The food is average but the place is good for lunch. Service is quick and the people are nice. Lunch prices are very reasonable.

We go here about twice a month... Want the BEST Mexican that is usually overpriced? Want great atmosphere? This probably is not your place. Good food, fair price, no atmosphere, good service, nice people. We never expected too much and have always had a good experience.

If you like bland good from a can, then this is the place for you. Nothing tasted fresh and the atmosphere was uninviting.

No bueno. Cold, hard chips and flavorless salsa. The carnitas are horrible. A bad experience. You would do better at Taco Bell.

I was once a very loyal patron to the Las Palmas restaurants. However, in the past year the service has been quite horrible. With the recent price raises it seems to me that this is no longer a place where I desire to eat. In the past six months, on three different occasions I have been appalled by the wait staff. The first was with a party of eight adults where we were charged for extra chips at our table. The waiter refused to seperate our checks, and also took thirty minutes to handle payment. Okay- I get it. They didn't want to wait on a big party. We shrugged it off and returned again and again until the second strike- where a waiter actually confiscated my out of state ID. As a regular customer who has never had any problems with any restaurants with my license, I was shocked when the waiter grabbed my card and walked away- with no explanation of where he was going, what he was doing, or why he was taking my card. All and all, it took 30 minutes for us to receive our drinks before he even returned to take our orders. ... alright- maybe he was a new waiter. We returned once more. The last straw was this past weekend where I was fraudulently charged twice- once for the meal at my table, and one charge one minute prior to the correct amount for nearly $50.00. I am currently waiting to see if the payment is corrected before it drafts on my debit card- or if I will have to go through the bank to fight the charge. These types of problems are expected for a restaurant where two people could walk out with a full meal and drinks for under $20.00. However, with the recent changes in pricing and terrible service I will never return to Las Palmas again. Sidenote- the bathrooms are yucky as well! Yikes!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
