First time at Koi Sushi it is awesome. The seaweed salad was the greatest. Sushi was fresh and presentation was excellent. I recommend this place to anyone. Enjoy!

I've heard good things about this place from friends & I would say it lived up to what we had heard. My wife's sushi was really good and I was really pleasantly surprised to see that they had Pho. I went with the Pho...hoping that it was good and it was. It was as good as any that I've had here in town. I'll be back for sure.

Wonderful sushi at extremely low prices. Most sushi dishes can be had for between $6-$9. The dragon rolls were amazing, but I've tried six or seven varieties of sushi there and all of them were great. Portions are quite large. I would give it 5 stars but the atmosphere of the place screamed "average Asian restaurant."

Completely overpriced. They took 30 minutes to get my my to-go order on a weeknight! Then when I got home it tasted terrible, like old ham or something. I later ended up getting sick, and I eat sushi all the time. I paid a lot more than Peter's in Brentwood and most rate them as expensive.

I am a sushi fan. My family moved here from NY City 15 years ago. There were some mediocre sushi restaurants in the area at the time. However, when Koi opened in Franklin I finally found a place where the sushi was as good as I had tasted practically anywhere. The freshness and quality of the ingredients are consistently better than those of most any other sushi restaurant I have experienced this side of Hawaii. The tuna, salmon, and yellow tail are always good, but the yellow tail, white tuna, and uni (sea urchin) stand out as a cut above those that I find elsewhere. A bonus is the fact that the proprietors are wonderful people and the hardest working folks there. Dara is usually behind the sushi bar in Franklin and Cathy is usually welcoming customers at the Nashville (Franklin Road) or east Nashville locations. It is truly a young "mom and pop" running the places (with other family and friends helping out) and they welcome you like family when you get to know them. At any of the Koi locations you should get excellent sushi and have a friendly and fun place to dine.

I went on Veterans day during lunch time. The host was such a sweetie and so welcoming. I notice alot of people during lunch time had business meetings. Lap tops and blind dates. What an awesome place to take your lady on a first date. It shows the guys you have great taste lol. I'm writing the review a bit late. I return to florida and im craving sushi now and made me thought about my great experience in Nashville. If you ever come to St. Pete, Fl Sushi wave is just as great, but this is definitely the spot in Country town for Sushi and Thai food.

Food was good. A little expensive. Be careful... No free refills on club soda... A little weird.
(3)Zoltan K.
Our favorite local spot for sushi. Their daily special rolls/sushi is always a great choice and they even have iPads with their entire menu on it. Never had a bad experience and they are family/children friendly

One word can describe this place. LOVE. But since I'm supposed to write more then one word I'll also add KING SCORPION ROLL. And finish it off with EXTREMELY NICE people and WONDERFUL atmosphere. We sat at the bar and the chefs asked us how our food was and chatted with us about how it was made and the ingredients. So. Yeah. LOVE.

We just moved to Franklin from California and were looking for a sushi place. We had tried a couple of others that were not very good. My husband suggested here. And I am so glad we did. We found our sushi place! Excellent service and food. The sushi is fresh and the rolls are fabulous. They will even customized anything you want. I love it here!!
(5)Tom P.
The waiter said he didn't know what was in the sushi rolls and couldn't answer any of our questions when placing our order so we just took a stab at it. He also didn't know the WiFi password and didn't offer to go ask someone else. We waited right at an hour for our food after ordering. The food was average for sushi. Our bill was $90 for three people and 2 glasses of wine. Pretty overpriced for the service and run down atmosphere.

Here's a short review! Definitely LOVED the West Haven Roll!! Perfect amount of everything! The Garlic Edamame was perfection--slightly sweet caramelized garlic mixed in and delicious! The fried rice is better than most typical fried rice! Hubs and I will definitely be coming back here!!!!

Best sushi in Nashville. I eat here on avg once a week as it is right around the corner from my office. Specialty rolls are great, pho noodles are exceptional, and I love the binto boxes for a quick lunch. Last but not least their ginger salad is top notch.

My wife and I were shopping for quilting materials in Franklin TN one morning (a bit off our beaten track of San Francisco) and were getting hungry. Using Yelp we chose this place and arrived in the hot early afternoon. A children's soccer tournament was running in the fields behind the strip mall, so the place had a number of young families finishing their lunches, but was more or less empty. Aside from a small alcove with windows, the place is dark - too dark for lunch, but probably fine for dinner. We ordered a house ginger salad, soups (Tom Kha Gai and Tom Yum Gai) two of the signature rolls, a hamachi roll, and sake nigiri sushi. All the sushi was fresh and well made - comparable to sushi we have regularly in San Francisco (I didn't ask about uni - it's on the menu as "market price", but I've yet to find any in the Midwest or South). What was great was the Thai soups - a wonderful departure from the usual Miso soup at sushi places. Service was good - not too attentive, and not abandoning you. PRices were about as expected - $25 per person for lunch (we had water, no drinks) All in all I give the place a solid three - I'd definitely eat here again when traveling in Franklin. A note on my rating schema Rating system 1) I wouldn't feed a dog I hated here 2) I'll give it a miss 3) Good food - I'll definitely go again 4) Really good - I'll recommend to business colleagues and connoisseurs of this cuisine 5) Completely worth a trip - I'd book airplane and hotels to go there again.

We ordered a great variety of rolls here. It was excellent! Not pictured was a beef lo mein which was incredible and a salad roll. I can't wait to try the pad Thai next time. Slightly longer wait time but it was to be expected with such a large order
(5)Sanky S.
Best sushi! Super fresh and delicious. Great and friendly service. I love the sunrise roll. Lots of parking and short to no wait time. I think it's good for kids if not picky eaters. Mine is and she is very loud but they are so nice to not kick us out!
(5)Rachel P.
The peanut chicken was so so. It didn't have a strong taste but it wasn't bad either. It is a tad over priced though.
(3)Matthew P.
Good food, but this is twice we've been here and the service was subpar. Sushi took over 30 minutes to come out well after other main entrees did. No real apologies and a water stop was about all we got as a checkin on us. Again, really good sushi and food but you shouldn't have to wait and wave people down. Paid $150 for the meal and you would think the service would've been better. So, sorry guys but the service is the problem, not the food.
(3)Mark B.
This my 5th visit in 2 years and the quality, taste and experience is suffering. Food was bland even though I ordered 3 dishes 4 out of 5 for heat. Unimaginative and middle of the road offering. Of the 3 dishes, the Pho was definitely the best, but still only rates a 3 1/2 now. The Pad Thai with chicken was rather plain and lacked any depth. Just when more Thai choices are becoming available locally, Koi has lowered their game. Really disappointing

A restaurant cannot receive anything above 1 star with horrible service even with good food. I have been here before, and the food is really nice, but everything went downhill after I went there this summer. I went to koi because they said they were interested in hiring, when I got there they told me they would call me later. After 3 weeks, I finally got the call, the person asked me to go in after 4pm the next day. I showed up around 4:30, only to hear that the person forgot about it and did not come! Wow! Again, they told me they would call me but never did! So I texted the person who called, but NEVER received a text back! They could have simply told me they did not want to hire me, but instead wasted my time and my gas. With service like this, I will never go to koi again.

The Good: 1. I have FINALLY found "my" sushi place! The fish was fresh and the rolls original and plenty. We had a simple tuna-avacado roll that I am pleased to say was fresh, non-minced tuna as well as two specialty rolls- the Hunter and the TIger rolls. All were very tasty. 2. Reasonable prices! The normal rolls are $4-6 and the specialty rolls are $18-12. The Bad/Ugly: 1. Maybe it's just because it was a Sunday night, but they were understaffed and very crowded which is a recipe for waiting a long time for food. We had to track down our waitress several times for everything- water, order, check. The Verdict: I'll give them the benefit of the doubt that they normally can handle the crowds. In the famous words of Ahnold...I'll be back.

Koi Sushi is definitely worth a try. I am a huge fan of pho and pad Thai but this restaurant goes beyond the delicious food. The place is in a plaza, slightly hidden by bushes in Franklin by the Cool Springs Galleria. On the outside, you would think it's just a small asian restaurant but this is the reason why we were taught to never judge a book by its cover. The inside is quite soothing and beautiful. Of course, I would pick the side of the room where there's curtains and booths with pillows. The atmosphere was perfect and our server had a lot of sense. He even asked if the lighting of the room was up to par or if I preferred the curtains to hide the sun. Overall, besides my cravings being satisfied and enjoying a relaxing eating experience due to the atmosphere, I gave it a 4 star instead of a 5 because I have had very authentic pho and pad Thai before coming to this restaurant. However, this restaurant is great and worth the drive! Expect to pay around $7-$10 per person. P.S. I heard sushi here was AMAZING which is a huge plus because not many Vietnamese/ Thai restaurants do not offer sushi in the same restaurant.

Went back to Koi and had another nice meal. They continue to be my favorite Asian food option in Franklin.

I am usually too lazy to write reviews, but Koi Sushi & Thai makes me want to put in the effort and write a review - that's how much I love this place. I moved to the Nashville area from Los Angeles three years ago. Needless to say, there are some pretty amazing sushi places in Los Angeles. Especially because it's not landlocked. And it's Los Angeles. And people there are into sushi, LIKE, more than anyone. Ok, like. Anyway, the service is super delightfully fast but not in a way that makes you feel like they are hustling you out the door. The outside is very deceiving - the inside is actually pretty lovely. So don't judge a book by its cover in this instance. Or a restaurant by its storefront, as it were. The sushi - DELICIOUS. They have crazy combinations that are all better than the last. You seriously cannot go wrong with any roll. Some personal favorites are: 1. Green Dragon 2. Crab Bang 3. Red Devil and some other ones I can't remember right now. The edamame is good, but you know it's kinda hard to mess that up. The miso soup is kinda boring but that's sort of its thing. They have beer, wine, and I *think* hard liquor, although I could be making that last one up. Prices are great, food is excellent, service is friendly, helpful, and fast, and there's never a wait. All wins! *Disclaimer: I am a white girl from the midwest so my tastes may differ from that of the elite sushi eaters*

LOVE Koi! Just wish they would remember to include our salads in our take-out orders, other than that, excellent food and service!
(5)Lisa C.
Excellent very unique sushi rolls love this place!! Try the choo choo roll. Excellent service also very friendly!!
(5)briana v.
We have been eating sushi here for about 18 years and have never been disappointed. Excellent food and very consistent.
(5)Bill B.
Excellent sushi with overwhelming menu. Had their Charashi and it was over flowing with fresh sashimi. Highly recommended.
(4)Stephen W.
Fantastic lunch specials. The sushi is of average quality. The service is great. The miso soup, spring rolls, salad w/ginger, and hot green tea are all my staples and are very tasty. The pad Thai is better than a lot of places but still just slightly above average.
(4)Nick L.
This was some of the best sushi we've had since we moved out of California (surprising it would be in Tennessee, eh?) The picture book was great and the descriptions were clear with the menu; the service was quick and assertive and we never had to wait long for a refill. The restaurant itself was clean but definitely lacked a clear vision of what they wanted to be inside but who cares when the sushi is that good :)
(4)Chris R.
This was my first visit to Koi. I went specifically seeking out Pho in the Franklin area - I found it! Although not a Vietnamese restaurant, the Pho was delicious! The lunch atmosphere was relaxed, and the price was fair.
(4)Heather B.
Been here many times with my husband and daddy. Always recommend it love the tempura and I always get pad Thai
(4)T. M.
Well went there today for my birthday with the whole family. Called ahead after church to see if they were busy...they said no. showed up and they were right...maybe half the tables had people. We were seated immediately and then took our drink order for all waters and I had a club soda. Unfortunately that was the last we saw of anybody for a good 30 minutes, tried to catch somebodies attention but they were few to be found......left $5 on table to cover club soda and walked out with family of 5...no one said a word. except as the wife was the last to walk out the door one of the sushi chefs said "have a nice day and come back". He kinda stumbled on the last word because I think he realized we were never served. I might go back based on the reviews here to try the food but right now not so inclined with that poor of service.
(1)Cara R.
Absolutely love the Fuji rolls!! Yum yum was not bad but Fuji was wonderful. Service was acceptable.
(5)Steven L.
We followed these folks from a popular sushi place in Cool Springs and really love them. Always good service, and the breadth of the menu is really impressive, beyond sushi. It's a neighborhood sushi place that eats like some of the best in Downtown Nashville.
(4)Karl L.
Great food, we almost always do sushi and it's comparable to any top sushi places in this area.
(5)Chris W.
The absolute best sushi place in Tennessee. Get the "Rock and Roll"
(5)Bob J.
Hidden Gem! Quality sushi that is very tasty, well portioned and excellent variety. Had the Pacific Roll, Red Dragon and Cherry Blossom, they were all excellent. Tried the Pad Thai and it was very good as well. Only reason for not getting a 5 is that the service is very very slow when it's busy. Talking like 90-120 min meal for a party of 4 on Sunday evening.
(4)Linda C.
We were very pleased with this restaurant. Peaceful decor and we were seated promptly. The waiter (Mike) was super helpful, as it was our first time there and we had a "few" questions. The menu is extensive with Sushi, Thai and Japanese offerings. We had the Beef Pho Noodle soup, it was perfect and the Panang Curry (Sauteed onion, Basil leaves, green bean, carrots, bamboo shoots with creamy curry sauce). We bumped the heat level to level to a 4 (out of 5), added chicken and it was delicious...My only regret was that we were so full that we had to choose between Sushi or dessert, so we decided to have BOTH!! We ate Coconut & Mango ice cream and decided to come back this week for lunch and have the Sushi..ha!! For some reason I feel like saying "run, don't walk..go enjoy Koi" :)
(5)Amy H.
I really want to like Koi, but the sushi is just not that great. I've tried the salmon, tuna, crab and shrimp tempura rolls, as well as the rock 'n' roll special roll. The meat was chewy each time. Other than that, the atmosphere is really pleasant. They have very unique seating and decor, and the lighting is low and soothing. A friend and I have gotten a couple Thai dishes and they were pretty good. So for Thai and mood, I'd say this is a nice place to visit. For sushi, I'd say, don't get your hopes up.
(3)Denise T.
Friends had been recommending this place for months and I always forgot about it. One day we both had a craving for Asian food, and I REMEMBERED! Yeah! Crab Bang Roll - awesome! So much crabmeat, I could die. Red Curry - deliciously sweet, savory, spicy and he loved the Spring Rolls. I had the Pad Thai, of which I could eat a bucketful! So good! The service was super fast and friendly too. Think we finally found a 'Go-To' place for Sushi/ Japanese/ Thai food.
(4)Greg S.
A somewhat strange assortment of seating choices greet you at the door. As you seem to walk right from the street to the dining area. Staff is super friendly, service is quick and responsive. The larger sushi platters looked more like art then dinner. Pho was very good too. We'll certainly return
(4)Kerrick C.
Love this place nothing negative to say great service fresh food try their avacodo roll AMAZING!
(5)Justin W.
So we read all the reviews on here and decided to give it a try. It was absolutely the best sushi we've had in years!!! Go try it. You won't be disappointed.
(5)Cher Y.
I enjoy sushi, and this place is def. on my top 5 lists to eat when I have that sushi craving kick in primarily because of: 1) FRESH food, and good proportions (both japanese and thai dishes are worth checking out!) 2) clean environment (albeit somewhat tacky instrumental music) 3) good service 1 star down primarily because they are located far out, and it is kind of hard to find them if you are not familiar with that road.
(4)Kevin G.
A quality product served with quick efficiency and friendly service. Dan "The Sushi Man" has been taking care of our sushi needs for a number of years and served my daughter years ago on our daddy-daughter dates. Now, she is driving and Dan is still bringing it! Once Koi opened, we were hooked and our family feels like we are part of their family when we go. They have a variety of options and are comfortable trying to make new recipes and ideas, so if you have a special request, let them know. Also, this is much more than a sushi bar. They also offer great Chinese and Thai dishes. We love Koi! Tell the Kevin sent you!
(5)Brianne H.
I am extremely picky about sushi and I really enjoyed this place. We got the Dynamite Roll and the Red Devil Roll and both of them were delicious. My husband got the wonton soup and he said it was very good, and I got the tom kai gai soup which was also good and fiiiinally I find a place in TN that uses the correct mushrooms (yes I'm that picky)! Finally I eat some sushi that meets my CA standards! 5 stars until I have a bad experience, haha.
(5)Diane D.
The Thai noodles were bland, and the sushi ranged from "meh" to totally inedible. Maki made with raw yellow onion that completely overwhelmed any other flavor and gaping, stinky tuna make it a surety that I'll *never* return. NOT recommended!
(1)Amanda N.
Red curry. Okay. Service wonderful!! Yay Koi!!
(4)Nathan D.
My favorite, Thai / Sushi / Vietnamese place ever! The Thai dishes are great, best Pad Thai I've ever had and I travel a lot eating at different Thai restaurants in different cities. The Tom Kai Gai soup is AMAZING, as is the Pho Noodle soup. I live in Los Angeles, but have wanted to fly to TN just to eat at this place, it's one of my favs for sure.
(5)William S.
Koi is my favorite place for sushi and Thai food. They consistently rate high on quality and service.
(5)David S.
When we moved to the area a little over four years ago we started asking everyone we met where to get good sushi. Everyone had the same answer, and everyone was absolutely right. Koi has the best quality, freshest ingredients anywhere around. If you're not into sushi, no problem. They have a great menu including the best Pho soup (better than chicken noodle if you have a stuffy nose) I've had. If you like variety, try the bento box - it's one of our favorite options too!
(5)Kelly J.
Koi is my favorite sushi place in the Nashville area. The food is great, not overly priced and the staff is always so friendly. Love date nights here!
(5)Arnold M.
We come a city with excellent sushi & Thai restaurants . This sushi is good Try the specials & ask the sushi chefs for a recommendation. The Thai food is also very good. Try the Pad Thai, very good Atmosphere fair at best
