I guess I'm a fan, but I'm becoming less and less of one with each visit and cant explain why Positive: +Full bar + Mongolian=smiles +Staff is awesome +AYCE In Between: Through no fault of the restaurant, it takes quite a few tries to perfect this place. Go easy on the dry spices or it's WAY too salty. Go easy on the sauces or it's WAY too wet. Negative: -Nothing really... it's just not what I'm used to. Bottom Line: Every visit makes me miss GreatKahn's and Stir Fresh from back home even more. Perhaps it has something to do with the method of cooking where those locations use some kind of (soy based?) stir fry liquid and then the cooks constantly keep the food moving as they make laps around the grill. This place keeps the food stationary and puts your sauce of choice in at the end. Whatever it is, I can never get it right and always leave disappointed.

I visited this Genghis Grill location about 3 weeks ago and it was terrible! However, I want to say that I have been to other Genghis Grills in the past and have had good experiences -- love the concept and the food, but the service has never been strong. This a place where your server has two jobs through the entire meal--keep your drink filled and bring you your order when it has been cooked and set in the window--for some reason the servers at this location couldn't do either. Did I mention that there were 9 servers on the floor and only 8 tables occupied? (Did I mention there were two hostess and one bar tender and a manager on the floor, too? Quick recap of our service--times estimated: 7:00p - We enter the restaurant and are promptly seated -- there are less around 6 tables seated. 7:07p - We ask the hostess if we have a server--this is after being passed by every server in the restaurant once. A server comes to our table and gives us bowls and takes our drink order. 7:12p - We get back to the table after making our bowls and dropping them at the grill (food line looked good). We don't have any drinks. 7:16p - I ask a server coming out of the bar area (his name was Cody) if he could find our server--he asked if we had ordered tea and acted irritated that I had asked for our drinks (I guess 15 minutes wasn't reasonable to wait). 7:18 - Our tea finally gets to our table. Food is still not at the table. 7:20 - With our server not in sight, we walk to the grill to pick up our own food. (There are numbers on the table so servers can deliver the food) 7:27 - Drinks are empty...no server in sight. 7:32 - Cody walks by and I ask him to get his manager. Drinks are still empty. 7:38 - Server refills our drinks. Still no sign of the manager. 7:40 - Ask Cody if the manager is coming and he shrugs and snaps, "I don't know" and walk off. Incredibly rude and his tone was awful. 7:45 - A woman named Mariana walks by and I ask if she could get the manager--she informs me she is the manager. At this point I lose my cool...only to find out that Cody had never told the manager I would like to see her--so he lied to me. Though she seemed a bit clueless as to the bad service her restaurant was giving, and seemed unable to control her staff, she did offer to pay for our meal which was the redeeming part of the evening. Food was fine. Average. Service was terrible but the restaurant did the right thing in offering to comp the meal. I doubt I will be back.

Went in on a Sunday at 5:30 pm and it was a great time to beat the rush. The service was good and the food was predictably good, just short of great.

Oh Genghis - how I love thee. I run into here once every few weeks with friends for lunch. I don't know how it would ever be possible to have more than one bowl and if you learn your stacking techniques, you can have a BIG filling and then some. The service is stellar, the food is usually fresh and they make an effort to keep the area very clean. It doesn't hurt that management is intentional in hiring pretty good looking young females to work there. The one less star mark comes because I hate the rush time in there and it will take a long as a sit down place when its packed to the brim and the waits don't help either.

Experienced my first meal here and I must say I was blown away. My party was sat very quickly and the service was pretty attentive and all that good stuff. The food is all fresh and for anyone who's ever been around a kitchen can see this. I went up for two bowls and since my jeans refuse to stretch any farther I'm going to have to stop at that. Other then the attitude I got from my ex-American idol contestant waitress I'd say this place get a thumbs up as well as my stronger recommendation to all who enjoy such cuisine.

This place is super neat. Good food. Il simple concept with a good result. Although it is hot if u sit near the grill it's still a really fun experience.

This was our first time here and we enjoyed it. The selection of meats, vegetables, spices and sauces was a bit overwhelming. Everything looked fresh. We each made a different meal and all were good. I made mine hot and spicy. The sauce selection at the end of the line could be improved. The tasting spoons and process was a bit messy. This time we did not have anything from the bar but it looked to be good. We will definitely return in the future it is a bit better than fast food!!

Always one of my favorite chain restaurants. Great selection in meat/ seafood/ veggies and sauces. I would deduct 1/2 a star because they were out of my favorite sauce, khan pao. :/ But after going to Khan's Mongolian Grill downtown, I couldn't take that 1/2 off. Wish that they had a more centralized location... there are only two locations right now - one in Franklin and one in Hendersonville.

I liked this place, but am a bit biased having spent time in and loving BD's Mongolian BBQ in Ann Arbor, MI. I tried not to let that influence me, but I couldn't help but compare. Granted, the last time I was at BD's was in 2004. First, lets start with what irked me and why only a 3 star and not a 4 or 5. 1) Not all you can eat - I put small portions in my bowl in anticipation that I could FO back for more. I was going to try at least 2 different meat and vegetable combination. 2) No salad bar and no salad offering. There was plenty if veggies though, and a large variety. Seeing as how you choose what goes on the grill, you can go all meat or all veggie, or a mix. 3) Noise level peaked at about 97 decibels (there's an app for that). I had my earbuds in and the music up all the way and still had trouble hearing it over the fan for the good and conversations. I'd hate to be here with someone and try to converse. 4) No coffee. Plenty of alcohol and soft drinks, but no coffee. I had water. Now, on to what is great about this place. The variety of protein offered is excellent. Beef, marinated steak, pulled pork, cuts of port, chicken, shrimp, and more. The veggies range from a standard stir fry mix, to boc choy, to single American vegetables. The spices vary from salt and pepper to a citrus garlic blend to dragon. Last is the sauce, which you put in a cup, not the bowel. At first, that confused me, but then realized the sauce would burn if mixes in at the beginning. The last step is have a cool take it to the grill and give you a card with a number, and he records the starch you want. You can either sit at the table and wait for the food to come to you or wait at the grill. The last thing is one more difference between BD's and Genghis is the lack of pancakes. Not of the IHOP type, but the mo shui pork type. Here you eat you creation out of the bowel. Not a bad thing, just different.

Entering the Genghis the first thing you notice is the loud hum of the exhaust fan. A huge negative for me. Once seated you're given a bowl to create your Mongolian grill. The prep line has more options then I have ever seen at similar restaurants, which is good. There were a couple of bins that were empty (shrimp & beansprouts come to mind). The line seems to move quite slowly, but the grill only hold so many. If you don't like your meal there is no one to blame but yourself. One complaint is that it's not a true buffet. If you want more or you make something uneatable (which is what happened to my kid) you can't start over without buying a new bowl.

This place is great! It is certainly not your "traditional" dining experience, but if you want to mix things up a bit this is the place to go. For those unfamiliar with the concept, you are given a bowl and fill it (via a buffet) with whatever proteins and vegetables you want, pick your sauce(s), and choose your rice or noodle type. Then you watch and wait as they cook it. Very simple. There are two things in particular I love. Firstly, you can sample all the sauces before choosing which one(s) you want. For someone who is wary of trying a new sauce, this is great! In addition, every time I come here I try something different. I don't eat meat and there is still plenty to choose from. For those who do eat meat, you have many options as well! To address the main CONS people have listed... Yes, there is some standing in line waiting. It's just like going to a regular restaurant and waiting except that you're standing up. It really isn't a problem, especially if you shoot for those in-between-lunch-and-dinner hours. Apparently they got rid of the bottomless bowl option? The standard bowl is enough or more than enough to satisfy the standard eater (unless they've changed the bowl size as well, which doesn't seem to be the case). Again, not really an issue. No, this isn't in the price range of a fast food joint, but the food is high quality, delicious, and endlessly customizable. Finally, they do have a bar, but I don't know what the prices are. Definitely something to try, at least once!

Dropped in with two others on a Monday around 1:15pm for lunch. It was perfect. The lunch crowd had left and there was no waiting to have the food cooked. The raw food area was clean and well stocked. The cooks were attentive and fun to watch. Service was very good. I wish there were one in Cookeville!

Have come here more than a few times when I worked near here. It has been a popular lunch establishment for the large buildings of professionals. Sizes come in small medium and large and different prices for lunch and dinner. There are pre fixed menu recipes guests can eat or the guests can free fall and add their own seasonings and sauces. I try each time to do the recipe but slip and go nuts. You start with the protein an then go to the vegetables and then seasonings and sauces, give them ur card u fill out stating ur starch -they have cabbage too for low carb diets and rice, brown rice, spiral noodles and long so a like noodles but maybe flatter. One can pick up some nuts and crunchy noodles after their mean is cooked. Sometimes the server brings the finished product sometimes the guest does. Not sure here exactly. Chop sticks are at the bar where they serve the cooked food. There is also utensils for the chop stick newbies. Appetizers are edamame with a citrus ginger sauce and dumplings. Both fairly decent. We have tried each by the portions are adequate we don't need extra food before the bowl is finished. They gave a nice dessert menu but have only had the chocolate bomb. Really good. About five dollars and worth every penny. Chocolate covered cake AND mousse. Really really good. Parking outside but crowded at lunch not so much at dinner. It we went on a Tuesday early dinner. So may not be the best review on dinner.

Love this place but today the cook didn't seem to care and burned everything. He looked like he was in a bad mood. Or he hates his job or life who knows, it was just obvious he was having a bad day and didn't care how the food came out

Absolutely one of my favorite restaurants anywhere. While visiting Nashville, the first thing I googled was Genghis Grill, since I live in Knoxville, TN, and used to eat at their location there all the time, until they suddenly closed permanently. I was heartbroken, and have craved their incredibly delicious stir fry ever since. I abhor Nashville traffic, and have always had someone else drive when I have visited this city, but when I discovered Genghis Grill was only 12 miles from where I was staying, I bravely buckled myself in, and headed in their direction. I arrived with white knuckles, but relieved I had managed to get there without getting mowed over by an insane Nashville driver. (Seriously, Nashvillians obviously think speed limit signs are merely suggestions, and think nothing of cutting across four lanes of interstate traffic, only to dart right back to where they started from five seconds later). Once inside I was giddy with anticipation at the taste bud sensation that awaited me. I made my way to the grill with my bowls heaped full, spices and a generous cup of the amazing 3G sauce. Then returned to my table, excited about my large bowl that was soon to arrive. My guest and I waited and chatted with the lovely wait staff, who were so nice and friendly. Our bowls arrived minutes later, and we promptly began eating. One bite and it was as if I had encountered a long lost, dear friend. The textures and flavors were near orgasmic. My guest (a local) had never had the Genghis Grill experience, and could not believe she had overlooked the restaurant. She assured me it would be a place she would revisit often. We were only able to eat about half the food in our bowls, and asked for take out containers. The amount of food left barely fit within, and we paid our check, and tipped generously, leaving completely satisfied. We arrived at my friend's home, take out containers in hand, when I noticed the boxes were microwave safe. I was elated, knowing I could pop that box into the microwave and reheat the leftovers. I had a late night meal hours later, and saved the remainder for breakfast the next day. It was as good as the night before. If you are ever near a Genghis Grill, you owe it to yourself to eat there. I do not think you will be sorry.

Affordable price with great food, but the wait was unbelievable. We went in to get a carry out order and still ended up being there for 45+ minutes. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt since I've only been there once, but I was not very pleased. P.S- The servers could have also provided a little bit better customer service.

  • Jennifer W.

My family used to love this place but the last visit was very disappointing. The new management does not have customer friendly policies. They have eliminated the Bottomless Bowl and that was our biggest disappointment. The service was extremely slow and we waited for 90 minutes for our order to be served. Many people in the restaurant left without eating as there was so much delay in service. There was completely no acknowledgement from the management or the staff about the delay in service. This restaurant is out of our favorite restaurants list and I will be very hesitant to go back again.

Horrible service. Hostess took several minutes to even appear. Waiter did bring an extra Cherry Coke to go once my drink had been empty for awhile. No shrimp currently on the menu not cool. Also the change to the menu that took away unlimited bowls was unwelcome. I'll stick to other locations if I choose this place again

Amazing value if you know how to stack your bowl. The servers are always friendly! When I go in they dare me to stack it higher than the last time. If you stack right, you can eat for 3 days just from one regular size bowl.

I am not sure what has happened at this location, but it has definitely gone downhill. This is one of the few places that pleases all 5 in my family, even with the long waits. But recently only 3 of us came in for lunch and found many negative changes. For one, it was immediately apparent that they were understaffed. I want to say up front that the two women and one man who were serving were hustling the entire time and were very friendly and helpful, but having only the three of them meant waits at the door to be seated, to get drinks ordered, tables bussed, to pay, etc. We were nervous when we looked up and saw 7 bowls waiting to be cooked and a table of 5 co-workers headed up to the line. Then one mom was wreaking havoc in the line by trying to create 4 to-go bowls by herself. Our server did tell us as we left that "half" their grill had been broken for more than 2 weeks, which explains why they only had 2 "chefs" working. But the GRILL is the whole thing at Genghis Grill!!! I feel for the chefs and servers who have to work in those conditions. Our server told us about a new change, business cards where you write your order at your table, or at least your name and your choice of starch. She then said the cards were implemented to help servers deliver the bowls to the tables. Sounds promising, right? The biggest problem was that they had removed all "menu boards" from the wall and replaced them with small recipe cards at the beginning of the line. They were scattered everywhere. The proteins were labeled, but NONE of the veggies were labeled. ???? The sauces were an absolute mess, and half of them were just open bottles with no dispenser lids. The wood trim on the tables was worn, the walls desperately need painting, and an outdoor table sat unbussed the entire time we were there. I hope management shapes up this location quick, or I fear it won't survive.

The servers are lazy and disrespectful. 2 years ago, this place was amazing. The prices were reasonably and the good was perfect. Now, this place is overpriced and unwelcoming. The servers were moody and sullen. They don't really care you're there. And the food upset our stomachs. Don't waste your time unless you want to pay for a disaster.

I wanted to fill out survey.genghisgrill.com about my experience at Genghis Grill but it just takes me to 404 Page Not Found. My lover and I were ravenously hungry after running all over Murfreesboro for our Halloween costumes, and I pointed out Genghis Grill. I love Mongolian grill restaurants, and this place was very satisfying. Our server was Kyla and both she and the other servers were friendly and well-informed. The only reason I'm not giving 5/5 is that there was a sign posted inside the bar listing customer service cliches "there is no 'i' in 'team'" garbage. Really? The servers were clearly already overworked, and this kind of corporate drivel doesn't help anything.

Genghis Grill is a make-your-own stir-fry / noodle bowl kind of place. The four things that really set Genghis Grill apart for me is: 1) They have a lot of selections as far as protein, and vegetables go 2) They have a lot of really good sauces to pair with 3) They have a lot of noodle options, and rice 4) You don't pay by weight. Which means if you're able to create a wall of snap-peas around the perimeter of your bowl, in order to expand it and create a larger bowl, you can get a lot more food... My only real issue is that it can sometimes be a little risky - seeing all that meat sitting in the open air like that. They do a pretty good job keeping things cold, and fresh though, but the thought of it just sitting there...

There's not too much to nit-pick about this place. If you don't like the food, it's probably your fault as you choose the ingredients. It's a bit pricey, parking is meh, service seems pretty slow the past two times I went there (drink orders) and the place was not particularly clean, but I think that's because I got there immediately following the great food rush and they were dealing with attempting to make the place look less like it was hit by a tropical storm. Chefs have generally been pretty nice when I've been there... same with staff. I dig it.

    (4)
  • M H.

Overpriced ( especially for dinner- not sure why lunch and dinner have a different set of prices when it's the same thing). 4 of us had a medium bowl, drinks and the bill was close to $70.00 for very average tasting food. The noise level inside the restaurant was extremely loud from the grill and venting equipment. The whole concept of guests(including children) handling raw meat from the selection bar still has me wondering how much bad bacteria is being spread around. Whoever dreamt up this restaurant concept, didn't fully think it through logically. I know that I will never return to any Genghis Grill anywhere.

Good, healthy food. Great service - waiter attentive and grill staff friendly and responsive to cooking separately for food allergy. Counter very filthy from sauces and spices spilled. They need to clean that more frequently in my opinion. Went for dinner. They charge $5 .99 per child. That was way overpriced for my 2 year old and 3 year old who hardly ate anything.

  • Teresa B.

Genghis Grill is great if you are in the mood for stir fry and you know just what you want. Basically, they give you a bowl and you fill it full of what you want to have stir fried, choose your sauce then pick rice or noodles. Now, you have to be pretty good and knowing what flavors blend well or you might become a bit befuddled while choosing your ingredients. That being said - give it a try! There's a huge selection of different types of sauce which is fun.

Came in on my lunch break and was intrigued by what I could get. What I got was an overlooked rice and meat plate. The vegetables got burned, the meat was over cooked and the sauce was non existent. Asked for the big bowl and got it filled with what looked like the small bowl. Almost stopped on way back to work at Taco Bell for something to eat...

I went here for my first time the other day...my fiancee took me here for dinner, even though he had tried it earlier in the day for lunch. He was able to explain to me how to fill my bowls and recommended what I should pick out, since I don't like a lot of spicy food. I first tried out a bowl with chicken, turkey, calamari, and a variety of veggies in it, and added fried rice with it. The food was yummy, but the fried rice tasted stale and seemed like it wasn't fully cooked. It also had corn in it, which I didn't know and was glad to see, since I am allergic to it. I finished my meats and ended up having to throw out the fried rice. I think went for a 2nd bowl and got the same meats, but tried steamed rice instead. It tasted a lot better this time. I would love to go here for a nice lunch, but dinner can be pricy if there are two of you and you both get the all you can eat. But all in all, it was a nice experience.

Though Genghis Grill is a chain, it's definitely a solid one that offers quality food. This is one of those places where you go in a line to pick your choice of meats, veggies and spices for a stir-fry treat! You even get to select whether you want noodles, white rice or brown rice to be stirred in with your meal. Genghis not only offers a wide variety of options to include in your meal, and all of it is extremely fresh. I love how you can get scallops and shrimp all included in the price. Speaking of price... it's cheaper to go during lunch, but even the dinner was only around $10. Keep in mind, it can get pretty busy here and you might have to wait in line... but I consider that a positive thing in this case because it means the meat and vegetables aren't just sitting out there for too long!

Good variety of food selection -- can please both meat lovers and vegetarians alike! The crowd and noise is quite something -- so don't come here if you are starving since there is always a line. Overall a fun experience at a great price. Disappointed in their drink and dessert offerings. The atmosphere is def. dominated by hungry teens.

So recently my fianée and I went back here for dinner earlier this week. It turns out, while the food is still good, they are no longer offering the bottomless bowl. As such I honestly don't see much value anymore in paying $10 for one bowl, and it will be quite some time before I return, if ever. That is of course unless they bring back the bottomless bowl option or significantly reduce the price.

Meh. I don't see what all the fuss is about. The food is fine, the price is OK. I felt a bit conflicted in my (rate of) satisfaction with this place. The cook side of me appreciated the neat way to experiment with ingredients, spices and sauces. But then again, I could just do that at home - for less $ and much more convenience (no waiting in line!). The diner side of me found it mildly annoying that I could not sit comfortably at a table while a server took my order and a cook prepared it (also known as "the old fashioned way", I guess). As for the food? Well, it was fresh enough, and tasted good. The novelty will not draw me back here, but I wouldn't turn it down straight-away if someone else suggested it.

Like the variety... would eat here more often if the physical location in Cool Springs wasn't so crowded. Tough to get in and out of without Cool Spring pre-teen Hell. The food bar gets clogged and messy because of the size crunch... this place would do a lot better in a new building. They certainly have the customer base for it... I've never been there when there hasn't been a line. Overall good eats if you don't mind the other stuff.

I'm fan mostly of this chain. It is trial and error to discover what's best since you are building your own meal from available ingredients and spices.

Went at lunchtime and was seated fairly quickly. After a brief tutorial I was sent to the rather long and kind of slow moving line to "build the bowl". I was able to get quite a lot of meat and veggies stacked up. The meats looked fresh for the most part, with a couple exceptions. The veggies also looked fresh although some of the options were a bit repetetive. The sauces were kind of a mess and it was difficult to know which one was which, I chose by name and didn't bother tasting. I was handed a number but wasn't sure if I was supposed to stand there and wait or go sit down. I chose the latter an in about 5 minutes the bowl of steaming food arrived. Overall, I was happy. It was a bit salty and the sauce was a bit strong but that is probably more due to my choices versus how it was prepared. The only surprise was how much it cost for lunch. After tax and tip it came to $11 and change and I had water with the meal. I know you can go "bottomless" for another dollar but $10 plus for lunch is just too much for me. Maybe I'll go back but I doubt it.

It's hard to get here at a time when there isn't a huge crowd, but you know, that's always a sign there might be something good going on. You can get a bottomless bowl here, but you don't need it. You get one bowl to fill with whatever you want, and you can pack a bunch of stuff in there, how much and whichever kinds of things you want. They have a "menu," which is really just examples of how you might combine ingredients. You can follow their suggestions or just use them as guides and add things as you go. They have an array of sauces and seasonings, but I found that combining them, especially the sweet with the hot and spicy produces the best results. There's every kind of protein you could want - pork, steak, shrimp, scallops, crab, chicken, and tofu, but those are merely starting points. It requires a little discipline on your part to choose from so many things. It's also a lot of fun to watch the chefs cook your creation with giant sticks on a big circular grill. You can also choose rice or different kind of noodles. It's not just delicious; it's a fun place to eat too.

Fellow northerners, you can compare Genghis Grill to Mongolian BBQ. Started by a fellow Michigan Stater (also the founder of Which Wich), I of course wanted to check out this chain. It's a very typical mongolian meal, but very good, and the prices are better than its northern counterparts.

  • James S.

Good food, fun for the kids to pick their own ingredients. A bit too loud with music, so it is hard to hold a conversation at times. Don't show up near closing time or they will be anxiously trying to push you out. Prices are reasonable.

    (3)
  • Mike M.

I've been here twice now. My second trip confirms my first impression - a mass market attempt at the Mongolian BBQ that is okay, over priced, and lacking in authenticity. I'm left yearning for the real deal.

How can you go wrong with Genghis? You choose what goes in your dish: meat, veggies, sauce, seasoning and toppings, then hand it to one of the grill masters to cook up on the Mongolian Grill. It's fascinating to watch them work their magic over the round grill, and their process is like a well-oiled machine. The bowls are sizable, so you get a ton of food for the price. The wait can sometimes be long, but if you go with good company, then it's all good.

Went to Dinner at Genghis. You have many choices to make yourself a great dinner. Beware a long wait, the location might be slightly too small. During my visit the line for a table extended outside, and the line to get food extended to the entrance. Even with this, I certainly plan to return again.

Yummy. Went there twice. Healthy. Dee-lish. Have yet to do a seafood stir fry, but very happy with both experiences. Food hot n plentiful. Don't over spice your meal. Fun to pick your own ingredients to be grilled on a flat circular oven that rotates as people trek in.

Unless you are a good cook and understand how to mix what with what to make THAT...don't bother...or if you are like my friend who piles 2 lbs of steak and a little oil to cook and THATS all he eats when he is there, then more power to ya..

  • Rachael Anne E.

Do yourself a favor and go to Genghis Grill during a non-peak time. This is a glorified buffet. You will want to cruise the proteins and the salts/spices separate the two buffets so don't forget there are more vegetables on the second. If you are on a low-carb diet, this is a good option for you. Each time I've been service has been fairly slow.

    (3)
  • Chelsea H.

Love the reasonable prices. The amount of food you get for the price. Being able to fix my own dish and watch them cook it. The best stir fry around to me. Great place for a group or for a romantic date.. The food is fresh and wonderful.

Our band went to Genghis yesterday for lunch. What a great experience! There were 15 in our party. The service was great. In fact, we kept noting that before we could finish our drinks the waitress was offering to refill. The food was amazing. Fresh. Lots of choices. Watching the guys cook our food while we stood and talked was lots of fun. We definitely plan to do it again.

Not bad, not bad at all. The concept is pretty cool, but the execution misfires a little bit. Long and short, you sit, get a bowl, fill it full of raw meat, veggies and various spices, hand it to the nice fellows behind the grill, and let them do their magic. The problem arises when this is your first time at the G-grill, and have no idea the difference between "Dragon Salt" and plain ol' non-mythical salt. Also, I have to say - try not to mix your seafood and steak, if possible, otherwise your side of Bessy's gonna come out a little tough as they endeavor to make sure your Nemo's well done. Seriously, though, overall pretty fun and delish. And unquestionably cooked to order. "Have it your way" is taken very seriously here.

FUN FUN FUN GREAT FOOD ORIGINAL/DIFFERENT AVERAGE PRICE $10 This place is great... The place is always great, and can be as plain or creative as you want, but its always a good time, If you know what Mongolian BBQ is you will love this place. If you don't then keep reading. It runs right at $10 per person. Basically you get a small bowl and much like a buffet you scoop up whatever your little heart desires. Meats include but not limited to raw chicken, beef, steak, sausage, ham, shrimp, ext. You then add your seasoning, pick some vegi's, and your choice of sauces, i believe they have about 16 to choose from. You bring your bowl of stuff to the cook you choose a starch such as fried rice, noodles or whatever. The cook prepares you food and adds to your starch inside a really nice bowl.

Sometimes chains are worthy of their size and popularity and Ghenghis is one of those chains I wish we had more of. I love Asian food and the idea of me going through a ginormous salad bar of meats, veggies, fruits, seasonings, and then having it tossed on to a hibachi grill to be stir fried before my very eyes is heaven. You pay something crazy like $8 for a bottomless bowl and it's a little metal bowl that you get to run through the food bar with. You start with proteins including meats, seafood, tofu and then move to some veggies including stuff like bamboo shoots and bok choy but also normal stuff like broccoli and mandarin oranges. I can stack mine like 6 inches high. You season it, pick your sauce which you can sample ahead of time, pick your starch (udon, brown or white rice) and they cook it for you while you wait. At the end of the line you pick up this piping hot ginormous bowl of freshly stir fried food and take it to your seat and dive in. Ask for the sirachi chili at your table if you like it hot. You can go through this process as much as you want but I can only ever do it once.

I always enjoy eating at the Genghis grill. Fresh food, good variety and a little entertainment as they cook your food. Personally, I like to stay along the line of their suggested spice combinations, maybe a little extra spice though. The scallops kind of cook up small, so I stay with beef and chicken. Love it with rice or noodles.

  • Lakisha J.

The concept is great. Load up what you want, season it how you want , and they cook it with big sticks on a great big hot wheel. It's not easy for the cook to mess up a meal that you prepared yourself. It's tastes good. It's quick. It's easy. The decorations aren't the best but it is what it is. Everyone is pretty friendly but I can't get the guys who actually do the cooking to crack a smile. At times the freshness of the ingredients is questionable but overall a great place to get your lunch on.

This is one of my all-time favorites! Steak, chicken, seafood, veggie: this place has it all! Here's the deal... You take a bowl line it with something like crab or peas to make the bowl even bigger. Fill it with a nice assortment of meat (Steak, Chicken, Ground Beef, Ham, Turkey, Fish, Shrimp, Crab, Scallops, Calamari, etc), vegetables (Everything), Spices (lots), sauce (Original styles make up a selection of about twenty or so) and top it off with the final rice and noodles. Its relatively fast, inexpensive, and you leave well satisfied! Two people can eat for roughly twenty-five bucks.

Went for the first time Saturday Night. Definitely a little confusing if you've never been. What exactly does the server do, how much is it, how are we charged?? Do we order with the server, NO. How much is it, 9.99 bowl. After we hand the cook our bowl do we wait or sit down, IDK. We waited but some other people sat down so who knows. So anyways its a nice idea. There is an abundant selection of meats and veggies to pack in your bowl along with dry spices and sauces. I had steak, chicken, stir fry mix, and some other veggies with the island teriyaki sauce. Honestly i don't have very much else to say about this place. It was not terrible, but neither was it amazing. Overall it was a good experience and i'd probably go back. Make sure you put as much as you can in your bowl BTW.

Have been going to this place for several years. Although, I enjoy the experience, I must say that the quality has been decreasing over the past few years. The freshness of the items on the bar as well as the cleanliness of the place has definitely suffered. However, if it is your first time going there, you will most likely love the place. I continue to go from time to time, but don't walk away as happy as I once did. Would recommend and you gotta do the dragon sauce!!!

The food is great and fairly inexpensive. You get an empty bowl than you fill up with meats, veggies and spices. It then gets grilled with either rice or noodles and your choice dressing. You would think the one bowl wouldn't fill you up until you are about halfway through. Great food, great price!

Wonderful Mongolian Stir Fry. You pick out all the things you want in your bowl from a buffet bar. Chicken, beef, shrimp, fish. So many possible fresh veggies. You add in spices and sauces. All of this gets handed off to the grill masters who cook your food on a 5 foot diameter round grill. They hand it back to you all cooked. Very fun, and very tasty!

  • Richard Y.

Been there, done that. Don't need to do it again. This concept seems fresh to many of the other critics in Franklin, but it's been done elsewhere and better. The service time is too slow, and if you're with a group, especially with kids, you won't be able to spend the time together. Somebody has to stay with purses, coats, kids while everyone else stands in a line that is way too long. By the time the second shift returns, the first shift is done eating. When I go out to eat, I like it when all the food arrives hot at the same time and at my table. Fun the first time if you're with a group that travels light. After that, it's just a hassle.

  • Paul K.

Unless you are a good cook and understand how to mix what with what to make THAT...don't bother...or if you are like my friend who piles 2 lbs of steak and a little oil to cook and THATS all he eats when he is there, then more power to ya..

    (3)

  • James R.

Went to Dinner at Genghis. You have many choices to make yourself a great dinner. Beware a long wait, the location might be slightly too small. During my visit the line for a table extended outside, and the line to get food extended to the entrance. Even with this, I certainly plan to return again.

    (4)
  • Lakisha J.

The concept is great. Load up what you want, season it how you want , and they cook it with big sticks on a great big hot wheel. It's not easy for the cook to mess up a meal that you prepared yourself. It's tastes good. It's quick. It's easy. The decorations aren't the best but it is what it is. Everyone is pretty friendly but I can't get the guys who actually do the cooking to crack a smile. At times the freshness of the ingredients is questionable but overall a great place to get your lunch on.

Yummy. Went there twice. Healthy. Dee-lish. Have yet to do a seafood stir fry, but very happy with both experiences. Food hot n plentiful. Don't over spice your meal. Fun to pick your own ingredients to be grilled on a flat circular oven that rotates as people trek in.

Its relatively fast, inexpensive, and you leave well satisfied! Two people can eat for roughly twenty-five bucks.

Wonderful Mongolian Stir Fry. You pick out all the things you want in your bowl from a buffet bar. Chicken, beef, shrimp, fish. So many possible fresh veggies. You add in spices and sauces.

I dig it.

  • Kenny S.

    (3)
  • Rachael Anne E.

Do yourself a favor and go to Genghis Grill during a non-peak time. This is a glorified buffet. You will want to cruise the proteins and the salts/spices separate the two buffets so don't forget there are more vegetables on the second. If you are on a low-carb diet, this is a good option for you. Each time I've been service has been fairly slow.

Love the reasonable prices. The amount of food you get for the price. Being able to fix my own dish and watch them cook it. The best stir fry around to me. Great place for a group or for a romantic date.. The food is fresh and wonderful.

Went to Dinner at Genghis. You have many choices to make yourself a great dinner. Beware a long wait, the location might be slightly too small. During my visit the line for a table extended outside, and the line to get food extended to the entrance. Even with this, I certainly plan to return again.

Yummy. Went there twice. Healthy. Dee-lish. Have yet to do a seafood stir fry, but very happy with both experiences. Food hot n plentiful. Don't over spice your meal. Fun to pick your own ingredients to be grilled on a flat circular oven that rotates as people trek in.

This place is great! It's cheap and a lot of fun, and is a great place to take kids. The concept is pretty simple, and always leaves me full and happy!

The food is great and fairly inexpensive. You get an empty bowl than you fill up with meats, veggies and spices. It then gets grilled with either rice or noodles and your choice dressing. You would think the one bowl wouldn't fill you up until you are about halfway through. Great food, great price!

Amazing value if you know how to stack your bowl. The servers are always friendly! When I go in they dare me to stack it higher than the last time. If you stack right, you can eat for 3 days just from one regular size bowl.
