We LOVE this Frothy...my wife and I live in the Gulch but we still make the journey out to this location whenever possible. The upstairs area is perfect for studying, working or catching up with a friend. The food is INCREDIBLE! And of course the coffee and tea is great. The staff is always friendly and, even though it's always busy, I have never felt ignored by the staff. Great place!

San Francisco prices, Franklin vibe, Smyrna service. ... and beans from St. Louis!? Okay. There is a chalkboard, and a man with a mustache. But... the barista was confused when I asked for espresso grind, had to ask for help from another guy, who had never heard of an Aeropress. My drink wasn't bad.
(1)Larry S.
This place is great! Highly highly recommend the event space for smaller events or parties! The food and espresso drinks are really good, but what really sets them apart, are the people. They always remember my name and coffee. Seems super home-y. Reliable wifi, awesome covered outdoor and back patio space for working. Especially if you want to get away from noisy busy downstairs. I will say as well, we rented their upstairs space and it was perfect. They had the room looking very snazzy, you can plug you phone up and play music or present on their projector. - really want to stress how they went the extra mile to accommodate our group of 55!

So I've been here a couple times now, and while I usually like hiding away in lesser known coffee spots, I think the food and service make up for the anomaly. First of all, for those who seem to complain about the service... I don't know if the fact that everything is being made to order in a /small/ kitchen and coffee space is taken into account for timeliness. Most places this size would rather give you your food the moment it is made rather than stick it under a heating lamp (if they even have space for one...). From my personal experiences (and expecting many more!) they are very friendly, know their coffees well enough that when I give them a point blank "Recommend me something" they do not freak out but siphon down customer preferences to a suitable option and are super friendly and fine someone turning a corner into their personal portable office (which on a snowy day is a relief since I know anyone who doesn't like cabin fever can attest to the value of a universally welcoming atmosphere). Coffee wise... I've only had their hazelnut white mocha (with half sugar...which I actually can say at that was a perfect blend of sweet and coffee bite) and a few cortados, which come served at the perfect temperature. Tea I've had their Fireside which was a true to it's name toe-warming experience for a nice "hearty" tea. And food wise I've had the Buck, which was nice. Could have been a little warmer but hey, when you can have such great service and wholesome midday snack with your portable work day...who can really complain? I know they also seem to have a lot of events throughout the year, so definitely a nice location with things to do if just enjoying food and coffee isn't your thing. They apparently also have a really good breakfast, but I haven't had the luxury to put that to the test.
(5)Jennifer H.
Excellent iced coffee. Loved the California: two fried eggs that were cooked perfectly runny on top of chewy sourdough. Sprouts, avocado and homemade salsa were served on the side. Sat outside on their awesomely huge covered patio and there was a nice breeze on a hot day. Can't wait to come back on our next trip to Franklin!

It's crazy that I'm just now writing a review. I am at this location 3 to 5 times a week. This is the best coffee shop in Franklin! Coffee is one of my passions. Or, maybe I am just addicted. Either way I take coffee seriously. I have never been disappointed in their drip coffee or something made at the espresso bar. For drip, the Frothy Blend is a staple and is good. My favorite drinks include Mayan Mocha and the Turtle Latte. As you might expect, the Mayan mocha is a brilliantly crafted drink due to the chocolate and cayenne heat that comes from the south of the border. The real brilliance of the concoction is that it isn't overly sweet and the heat is mild. In fact, I don't think of it as a dessert drink. It's a wonderful drink to accompany me in the mornings when I need to get my office head together. It is a limited offering. I hope they put it on the regular menu (hint hint). The Turtle Latte is espresso, chocolate, caramel and praline. I would say it's a dessert latte, but not overly sweet like Starbucks. This drink is on the regular menu. When it comes to breakfast and lunch, this place is great. They serve breakfast all day. Everything is fresh. But what really matters here is the bacon. If you order a plate or a sandwich, go ahead and have them add bacon and then add even more extra bacon. It's no longer Benton's Bacon, but the bacon is very good. Here are some housekeeping tips, as soon as you enter the front door, reach for a menu card on the right-hand side. You will find them on a half wall. Then step to your left and make sense of the line that is forming. When you place your order you will pick up drip coffee and baked goods. If you have to wait for an espresso drink stay near the espresso counter and wait for your name to be called. Retrieve your drink from the presentation counter. If you ordered food that has to be prepared the cashier will give you a "monkey letter" to place on your table. They will bring you silverware with your food. If you want some condiments such as hot sauce or salt-and-pepper grab them from the self-serve drink prep area or ask the food runner. I mean, who doesn't want hot sauce on their eggs? The Wi-Fi here has been stable for me. The porch is a great place to work as well as the upstairs. Every day you can see the famous and the want to be famous at the Frothy. Just remember the "Nashville Code" and only talk to famous people if it's obvious they want to mingle. Our excited tourists don't really know about the code, but they bring some fresh dollars to the area so I don't judge them...too harshly.

Spent most of our meal opportunities over the last 3 days at Frothy Monkey. It has a lot of space and good variety on their menu. We will be back
(4)Jennifer P.
This is the best Frothy! The staff are extremely nice and friendly, even when there are a lot of customers, and the atmosphere is very calm with great music; it is mostly quiet (especially upstairs) to get some work done. The food is wonderful too!
(5)Doug G.
Only have done breakfast here. But it's great. Architect omelette great selection. Donut muffin is amazing. Great vibe. Free wifi. Lots of room.
(5)Marshall V.
Came here with 5 mins till closing time. Their "salad architect" is a life saver in a state where a good salad is harder to find than good song on the radio. Place is definitely chill. The vibe is chill and also the food is very very chill. Staff told me where to go pee which was a righteous move since I had to pee. Once relieved, I was able to become fully nourished and I cherished my moments at the monkey. Love this place. Very chill.
(5)Jenifer G.
This spot has LOTS of tables and chairs and rooms and spaces to work. It's a good thing because half of Franklin is here. They must have delicious egg, mouth-watering bacon, and saliva-generating syrup air fresheners in here. Actually, it's the great food, and it's all around me and I can't resist and I need to go order something or I will go crazy! By the way, the servers have been so accommodating. The music is at a good level, not distracting. The people noise level is typical for a really busy place.
(5)Casey H.
The gentleman that took our order was friendly and answered our questions. I ended up ordering the White Monkey Mocha which is a White Chocolate Mocha with a hint of banana... sounds odd but it's SSSOOOO delish!! This also went perfectly with my banana bread from Noi's. Since this was my first time, I didn't know they a large variety of desserts. This is good to know for the next time. :) They had a nice wrap-around patio with plenty of seating as well as plenty of seating inside.
(5)Carly R.
Great patio and wine selections. Lots of plugs for your computer and phone and really great atmosphere. We love the food, coffee, and wine! The other locations are fun too
(5)Blair S.
You could almost miss that there is a house right off Main Street next to the old Presbyterian church in Downtown Franklin. This Frothy Monkey location has a great porch and cozy yet spacious interior. I had time to kill while downtown and decided my jet lag needed a caffeine kick. The staff was friendly and helpful when we stared indecisively at the menu (see also: jet lag). The espresso-based drinks were just right. Bonus points because they have the real almond milk, not the sugar-added stuff so many coffee shops stock. There's a cute fireplace and the place was well decorated for the holidays. The rustic furnishings are charming and fit well with the style of the house.
(4)Greg H.
If you like good coffee & hate going to Starbucks because it's usually packed with people camped out. Then you'll like Frothy Monkey because they have lots of seating.
(5)Aubrey W.
When I try to study at home, I get distracted. I have laundry and dishes and TV shows and magazines and other things. I've found that coffee shops, despite all their hustle and bustle, are the prime place for me to study; even the library is too quiet. I tend to gravitate towards Starbucks, but since I was hungry I decided to hit up the Frothy Monkey in downtown Franklin. I love that it has an industrial, yet home-like atmosphere, with old fireplaces since it is an older building that may have been a home at some point. The Frothy Monkey serves food all day, and even offers beer and wine. I decided to get the Frothy Monkey breakfast and a chai latte - delicious bacon, eggs, and multi-grain toast. The bacon was some of the freshest and best I've had in Franklin (yum!) and I swear they gave me more than two eggs. I enjoyed the meal immensely, with delicious jam on the toast. I also enjoyed the chai latte, though it was a little different from others I've had. I feel like it had a bit more spice than I'm used to. (I'm still tasting the delicious one I had at Bread and Cocoa in San Francisco... must have been some extra cream or something.) I enjoyed studying upstairs by a window, and I spent a good few hours there. I'm definitely going to hide out there more often.
(4)Patrick B.
Good coffee. Nice downtown Franklin location. Of course, everyone else knows about it too. It can get a little crowded so using it as a mobile office is not recommended... at least not in the morning. Grab your "joe" there and head elsewhere to hang with friends. If it's not busy, I bet it's a fun place to hang. The baristas are very friendly and the service is FAST! Great spot. I hope I can find the sweet time of quiet... If that exists.
(4)Alysha H.
What a beautiful little coffee shop. We were told by some Franklin locals to go and it was amazing. Friendly staff. Such a fun, hip atmosphere. I mixed fruit tea with green tea and it was fabulous!!
(5)Austin M.
The blonde girl with the hatwho worked the register made my day. She really made my hipster coffee special.
(5)Erin G.
I always tend to go at lunch time. The service is average but the wait time is typically longer than most locations. Do I enjoy good by here? Yes, for several reasons, they have some great coffee choices and you can choose your atmosphere for eating... Solitary upstairs, busy downstairs or outside. I'd say the prices are a little bit expensive for what you're getting, but then again, so is most of the food in other restaurants downtown.
(5)Michael D.
All your hipster favs...lattes...dairy free, teas, even Kom but has including a draft mint that is amazing.
(5)Adriana H.
I loved the quaint coffee shop atmosphere. Good choices for indoor and outdoor seating. My favorite is their hot cocoa since I'm not a huge coffee fan.
(4)Mary B.
Great coffee shop, plenty of tables. Coffee was good, bold. I got a muffin, which was also pretty tasty. I really wish that they had staff walking around offering additional beverages. For example, I didn't want to leave my laptop and all my belongings on the table while I go stand in line for 5minutes to order another drink, so I didn't order anything else. I don't think it would be that hard to have an employee walking round with a portable payment devise taking orders, I'm sure it would be pretty profitable.
(5)Jeremy W.
Great local coffee joint with fantastic choices. A touch pricey, but it is in Franklin, TN so it's to be expected. I've been here twice and have been happy with the service here both time. Great atmosphere and plenty of room to spill over into the upstairs seating if need be. Free WiFi and other typical coffeehouse offerings of course.
(4)Valentina L.
Cute little FUNKY place with a few tables inside and some outside seating facing a street. Staff is so-so, and other than the cool name, it lacks much originality. Should you want to brag to your friends about going here, you can pick up a FROTHY MONKEY SHIRT. The daisy sugar cookies with the jam in the middle were yummy though!
(3)Melissa M.
My husband and I rode our bikes down here one morning to get breakfast and coffee. It's a neat old house in historic downtown Franklin and there are a lot of people hanging out, working on their computers and doing the "coffee shop" thang. We were bright eyed and bushy tailed, all excited about our little new-to-town-let's-explore adventure, but were truly bummed out by the service. We asked the girl at the order line if they had any breakfast sandwiches and she looked at us as if we were idiots and pointed at menus on a shelf on the wall. "There's menus over there" she said, and turned back to whatever it was she was doing before we bothered her. No biggie, I get it--it's annoying to recite menu items over and over if we can just read the menu ourselves. Fair enough. But when my husband saw the barista making my skim coffee drink with whole milk, he asked if it was my drink and she said yes. He apologized to her (such a Midwesterner) then very politely asked if she could re-make it, explaining that I had ordered it skim. She got visibly annoyed with him, dumped the drink, and re-made a second one, then shoved it at him without a word and without the lid she had put on the first drink. As for the food, it was mediocre, but with the unfriendliness of the staff I don't think we would go back even if it had been out of this world.

Glad to see gluten free options. Once again a restaurant with unclean tables. Had to wipe down myself. Nice choose of teas. No drip decaf. Love outdoor patio.
(3)Bridget H.
What I liked: 1. The menu and coffee! Both are delicious and the menu has a surprising number of options- I got a small salad and it was quite yummy. 2. The location - Nestled on the edge of historic downtown Franklin, it's a great place to stop for a quick coffee or lunch during a day of window shopping, or set up to do some work. What I didn't like: 1. The parking- it's tight in the popular downtown Franklin lot. 2. The noise- this isn't a coffee shop conducive to getting work done. I found out the hard way when, for a change of scenery from working at home, I set up shop and tried to take a call...just as a local hipster broke out his guitar and started strumming away next to me! The verdict: Great for coffee and lunch. Not so great if you're trying to get work done!
(4)Brittany F.
The customer service was great, the girl taking my order was nice and helpful. She answered all of my questions without being condescending like some others that work at local coffee shops. I went in there just to get some iced coffee but saw a special written on the board called a coconut cream, it was so good! I got it iced and it was just the right amount of sweet. Unfortunately, I had just eaten lunch bc everything I saw come out of the kitchen looked so good! I'll definitely be back to try some pastries
(5)Melissa P.
Enjoyed breakfast here while weekending in Nashville. After braving a Saturday-morning line (it stayed pretty busy the entire time we were there), we found a booth and eagerly awaiting our food and drinks. The Frothy Monkey (2 eggs, sausage or bacon, and toast) satisfied, and the pancakes with homemade syrup got good reviews as well. I am not a coffee drinker, but my companion seemed to enjoy his iced latte. We considered eating breakfast there again the next day, because there were so many things on the menu we wanted to try, but perhaps another time, Frothy Monkey!
(4)Consumer V.
Favorite coffee. This place is for those that enjoy the taste of coffee, not just doctored up coffee beverages. Typically has a gluten free muffin or other gf choice. Four stars because I wish there were a few more gf options.
(4)Erin S.
Iced white mocha with banana. Yum! The annoying giggling teenaged girls threw me off but otherwise an adorable spot to sit, relax and have a drink. Its a pretty busy place but so much cooler than any big box type coffee shop.
(4)Lisa T.
Great trout over quinoa w/sautéed red pepper and kale. My first dinner experience at frothy monkey and I will definitely be returning.
(5)Linda D.
Excellent! Gluten free sly options and super friendly. Worth it see the the top about parking etc. in a previous review was really helpful,
(5)Adam V.
Cool coffee house! My wife and I had dinner in Franklin and stopped her afterward to have a coffee. I had not intended to get anything to eat, but the strawberry danish looked amazing. And, it was! We both got our coffees and had a seat. They were very well prepared and there is just something about drinking from the big cups they use. My turtle latte was excellent. I'll have to come back here sometime. The place has a cool vibe to it and they have a solid menu. They have a cook and grill in the back. So, you can get something more substantial to eat while you're there. This is a neat spot and very laid back. I'll definitely make a return trip soon.
(4)Corie K.
LOVE!! This is my second favorite Frothy location to the 12 South one.
(5)Chad J.
Great food, service, and vibe. Franklin finally has a coffee shop. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and drinks... in addition to coffee and baked good = everything you need.
(5)Andy H.
Honestly, I wished there was an extra star for this review. Some places just shine above all others, and this is one of those places. If the Smithsonian had a food section (and it should) and there a few menu items from Frothy Monkey that I would put in there. We brought the entire family in on a Saturday Night at dinner time, we were able to order and find a seat and table for all 6 of us...including a high chair. Clearly the word is not out on the Steak and Eggs, or the Artisan Cheese Plate with boiled peanuts (brilliant). The service is top notch, especially considering it's an order at the front and go sit with your number establishment. The service staff clearly CARE about the future of this place and really went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed. We even had to send a dish back, and the amazing attitude displayed by all three staff members we interacted with during the "re-fire" was exemplary. Never once did we feel rebuffed, and they took the concern very seriously, and fixed it...with a smile The espresso alone is worth the trip to Frothy Monkey, but they are far from just an excellent coffee shop. The Frothy Monkey is one of the best restaurants in the Nashville Metro area.
(5)Pete D.
They should rate about a 3 and half, it's a nice place that has local owners. Can be seriously crowed on weekend mornings. Nice porches to sit out on for the warmer months.
(3)Joshua T.
VERY friendly staff, AMAZING food (I got breakfast), and latte art to boot! I stopped in in a recommendation from a friend and was in awe. LOVE this place! I ordered the "Frothy Monkey Breakfast". With it, I got scrambled eggs, multi grain toast, and turkey sausage. All were great. I also order "the biggest hazelnut latte you have". I was a little disappointed it was only 16oz. But they had almond milk and it was delicious nonetheless. BIG recommendation on this place.
(5)Kory W.
Had never heard of this place until a friend mentioned them, and I absolutely love this spot! It's conveniently located next to tons of things to do in Franklin, and the service: AMAZING. The seating was somewhat limited; however, I was there at lunch on a Friday afternoon, not surprised it was busy. Would definitely recommend this place to others, and I will absolutely be back!
(5)Sam A.
Barista suggested the honey rosemary latte - although it sounded unappealing to me, I decided to take her word for it. She was right, it was a great drink - mildly sweet with just a subtle hint of rosemary. Will definitely be back.
(4)nicole d.
LOVE LOVE that they have almond milk for latte's and also the Gluten free options!! I always stop at Frothy anytime I am in Nashville!
(4)Noelle T.
I think that the nearly 3.5 star rating is purely coffee related because food wasn't there the day we visited (October 20th early dinner). The little house is cute but was very busy and dirty when we were there on a Sunday. The house side is chips and salsa so I ordered the chicken quesadilla to match. The chips were clearly from a bag which was disappointing. I assumed that if they serve this with everything that I was about to taste the best homemade chips and salsa of my life .The quesadilla didn't have any flavor and barely any chicken. I opened up one of the triangles and I found one very sorry little bite of pulled chicken. My husband ordered the buck because it looked kind of like a ruben and it was a better choice than the quesadilla though bizarre with chips and salsa. The buck is served cold unlike a traditional ruben and it had sun dried tomatoes. I think if they just change the side and pull the quesadilla from the menu that it would move the star rating up for me.
(2)Rick S.
Visiting my daughter and ate here. We sat outside on this beautiful day for lunch. I recommend the Royale-roast turkey and avocado on toasted sourdough. Food at its best!
(4)Tina P.
Pricey but always good. I wish the staff were friendlier, but this is always convenient for meetings. Getting a little fed up, though, with how rude they are.
(3)Michael S.
We go here all the time. And love it. The service sucks. At dinner you need to sit downstairs to get waited on. But it is a real cafe like in Europe. You order something and you own your table forever. Free Wifi! And if you are a vegetarian it is heaven. I like the Ned sandwich and for dinner the pasta with tofu. I gave it four instead of five stars because the waiters do not speak French.
(4)Stephen W.
After months of returning to dine here I can say the service has become far greater and much faster.
(5)Allison W.
I love this location, the atmosphere, always a consistent, quality product & smiling people. I've walked in with the church crowd a few times & it's always been a reasonable wait. Love local.
(5)Stephen S.
Had a really (really) good roast beef sandwich and some iced green tea. Such a cool vibe. And seriously, that sandwich.
(5)Jason C.
I live in Franklin and have visited this establishment probably three times. Each time the food was good. However I found this service to be consistently atrocious. In someone else's review they used the word "elitist" and I think that's a fitting description. It took 10 minutes to get a single cup of coffee and a hot chocolate. I asked the server if they could put one extra pump of hazelnut syrup into my cup and they said "we only can do it into 2 or 4 pumps and at an extra charge." I saw on the chalkboard that they had steak and biscuits that morning. I asked if I could have one not two, and I was told "no they only come in 2s." I asked 2 questions and I was told "no" both times. I really didn't even know how to respond on the "we only will serve you two steak and biscuits" - seriously? Can't make just one? I promise I'm not making this up! It was surreal. I've never seen a restaurant that on something as simple as steak and biscuits made you purchase two instead of one. The bottom line is this: you can have a really cool joint with a really neat look and really awesome trendy decor. However, if your customers are seemingly a nuisance to you and you forced a customer to do business your way instead of what they want, then don't be surprised if customers never come back. The people at Frothy Monkey honestly don't seem to get it when it comes to who pays the bills of the establishment! It's sad too because I really want to support a local business instead of a national chain of coffee stores, but they really just don't seem to care. Interesting thing about Starbucks is I can't recall ever being told "no we won't get you what you ask for." Perhaps that's that's the lesson for the owners of this business because that's where it all starts. You coach and breed the heart and attitude you want your employees to possess. Humble yourself, serve people well, and I promise you, business will be good!
(1)Abigail O.
Great food, cool atmosphere; horrible service. It's a shame really, the food quality and ambiance is above par, but customer service is really bad. I've tried it on many occasions in attempt of giving the place the benefit of the doubt...to no avail. Maybe it's "coffee house trendy" to be rude to your customers...? I do not know. I am certain, however, I will not be back.
(2)Laura S.
Best coffee shop I have been to in Tennessee. Very spacious, not too loud, excellent coffee and delicious sandwiches. Even the staffs are super friendly, homely and helpful!
(5)Janelle C.
I love Frothy. This place is the bomb diggity, whether you're in downtown Franklin or 12th Ave South. I get the Royale sandwich. Now I'm hungry. Thanks.
(5)Deborah W.
Its a little pricey IMO but its to be expected. Great location and vibe. I had a caramel/mocha hot. Delicious. I will have to try the omelets one day too since I hear they are good. I just like being at this place, its great to hang out with your laptop or a good book. Yummy selections and cozy vibe. I'll be back of sure.
(4)Kara W.
A friend and I were in Franklin for work and decided to try dinner at the Frothy Monkey on Wednesday night. Our server was great! She was so friendly and patient while we chatted away. I tried the pasta with tofu and my friend tried the... mahi mahi? She mentioned she wished she would've ordered something with a little more flavor, but also said the grits/corn mix was delicious. My pasta wasn't my absolute favorite but it did the trick. My actual favorite was the dessert!! Pecan bar. It was perfect for sharing and absolutely scrumptious if you like pecans and cakey/crumbly deliciousness. This restaurant is in an older house where you seat yourself; I could see how it could be too busy on the weekends but we had no problems during the week. Great find.

In retrospect, I wish I hadn't told the manager he was "such a douche bag" on my way out, but I was fired up after the way he glowered at me as he refunded my money. Ironically, on this Sunday morning I'd just left church down the street where I'd prayed for patience. At this Frothy Monkey, I just didn't have that kind of patience. Other than cafeterias, I'll admit I don't really like waiting in line at a counter just to have to wait at a table for the light meal to be delivered. And if they'd told me that there would be a 30 minute wait to get us our cheese plate and two kids pancakes, I could have made an informed decision about whether to stay or go after standing in line. I looked around; there was plenty of open seating if they'd have just cleaned the dirty tables. We decided to stay and found a (dirty) table upstairs where we cleaned off the sticky syrup after sitting down. I finished my coffee in the first 15 minutes but of course there wasn't any waitstaff to offer more coffee. You can go back downstairs, waiting in line and pay another $.75 for another cup. Meh. Not worth it. I just waited for the food. But after waiting nearly 30 minutes for our three simple plates, we decided we really needed to leave if we were going to make the start of the final world cup game at 2:00. I went downstairs and asked if we could get our cheese plate to go. I asked for my money back for the kids breakfasts that were sure to be cold after we left. I have to assume it was the manager that was called over to refund our money. As I waited for the food to be boxed up, this guy stared at me in what I assume he meant to be a menacing way. He shook his head in disgust, clearly peeved that I would dare to ask for my money back for the $11 in kids meals. As I walked out, his look of disgust was more than evident. As someone whose worked in restaurants for many years, I found his attitude to be unbelievable. That's when I made the comment that he was a dbag. I regret having said it, but I meant it at the time. Frothy Monkey may be cool in other places, but stay away from the Franklin shop.

Visiting my sister from out of town and this coffee spot was highly recommended. It did not disappoint! The staff was graciously patient with my newbie ordering experience while offering my renegade children stickers. Very friendly and great food/coffee with a nice setting.
(5)Dawn S.
My first time here and I'm impressed. Service was surprisingly fast considering it was morning rush. I had the Architect (mine: sausage, spinach, provolone, tomatoes). It was delicious. The veggies were fresh and the omelette was cheesy and not watery. I had a coffee with white chocolate & hazelnut (thanks to the barista for the pretty design on top). By far, the flavor was the best Ive had anywhere!! Instead of taking my order I was asked how I like coffee and was given suggestions on what to order!!! Exceptional! This is my new favorite coffee spot outside my usual spot. It wasn't cheap but it was worth the $
(5)JoAnna L.
This was my last stop while in Franklin with my cousin for a quick breakfast. We browsed the menus a bit and I went with the namesake 'Frothy Monkey' plate with an iced mocha (which I changed my mind at the last second and switched from a hot drink and the barista kindly obliged) and my cousin got the Royale sandwich with a Coke, I believe. The prices are great and the atmosphere is great, I loved the craftsman home feel of it and that they kept it looking like it did I'm sure years ago. Well, except the few monkeys hanging around in the decor. The employees were very nice and accommodating and helpful. We found a little table on the first floor and our food & drinks came out soon after. The food was very tasty and my mocha was perfect! I'd love to stop by here again when I visit my cousin for sure.
(5)Steven L.
Frothy Monkey has stolen the "hip factor" from Starbucks QUICKLY and DEFINITIVELY. We prefer the front porch in good weather, and if you can get past the attitude of some of the hipster order-takers, they've got a great menu. As a tea drinker, I appreciate the sources and options they provide.
(4)Sejal M.
For what appears to be a coffee shop at first glance, the food is very tasty. I always feel like the service is good despite the busyness. Kid friendly. I would love to see more vegetarian options on the menu.

So far I have been to 3 out of 4 Frothy Monkeys. I like the downtown Nashville atmosphere the most because it's not so dark inside like Franklin but has more style than 12South. This location however, is the least crowded which is a plus. The staff are friendly. The coffee is good. The service is quick.

Excellent job on both the iced caramel latte and rosemary honey latte. Very interesting and delicious drink for anyone wanting to venture away from the traditional latte!! The various breakfast plates passing by us looked outstanding, but we had to pass since we had already eaten. Spacious interior and great staff!

Frothy Monkey is a good addition to Franklin coffee culture. It's a little bit expensive and I use my Starbucks gift cards first, but when I need a change of scenery or breakfast I definitely go to Monkey before Merridees or Starbucks. Good ambiance. Can be a little hot in the summer as not all of the house has AC. Plug in, zone out, and do work.

Great spot for coffee and lunch.

This place was great. Very friendly people. I ordered a pour over and asked if I could watch the barista make it, and she was very nice and walked me through it step by step. Lots of space. Will be going back!

The rosemary honey latte is amazing. We also enjoyed the banana bread, oatmeal raisin cookie , and iced caramel americano. Great experience with plenty of seating on the porch and upstairs.

Good coffee, nice employees, good food, and a cool space. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say this is the best coffeeshop in Franklin / Cool Springs. There really isn't any competition in that area but even if held to the higher Nashville standards Frothy still stacks up well. The coffee is good. Everything from your typical coffee to speciality frumped up coffee drinks are offered here. The food is better than average per coffeeshop standards and the selection is very diverse. I would venture to say Frothy is as much a restaurant as a coffeehouse. Breakfast is served until 5 then the menu shifts for dinner. Whenever I have been there have always been some soft of unique blackboard specials. I've seen everything from bacon kale hash to bacon waffles sammies on the board. They are always unique and I usually end up getting them. Unlike the 12th south location, the Franklin version even has wine and beer (on tap!). The internet is reliable and fast enough for casual browsing or a working lunch. The space and layout are great. Two levels of indoor seating, outdoor seating in the front, and more outdoor seating on the rooftop. Overall, it's a great spot to grab some coffee, have a bite, and peruse the internet.

Frothy Monkey is about as good as it gets in Franklin when you want to camp out and get some work done. I was pretty skeptical when they were doing the build out of the building, but I really enjoy coming. It's about $7 for breakfast, which is reasonable, and the coffee is more affordable than Starbucks, which surprised me because the environment here is much more conducive for working people- There is a ton of space to sit and work. Frothy Monkey makes the transition from day to night better than your average coffee shop with drinks and above average food options for dinner.

This place is pretty popular with it's multiple locations. We went to the one in Franklin. I loved the converted old house feel. They have unique flavored lattes. I was concerned with all the flavors that were going to go into my latte it might be too sweet so I ordered the white hazelnut mocha half sweet. Half sweet was perfect, nervous what the full sweet would taste like. I didn't give five stars because we asked the girl at the register where the beans were roasted from and she didn't know. She didn't even ask someone else to answer. Then all three of my friends ordered soy and none of us got soy. A little disappointing. I'm the type of person that takes all the little things into account. So when you, as a business care about the little things it speaks volumes to me as the customer. Now maybe I just had an off time because like I said they have multiple locations so they must be doing something right by everyone.

Best coffee in Franklin, and a great menu, too. My go-to is the super-smooth White Monkey Mocha and the chicken quesadillas with housemade salsa and guacamole. If only the parking weren't such a challenge...

Delicious latte! Love Franklin, TN. I only had a latte, rest of menu looks great.
(4)Billy A.
I can't really give much of a review on the coffee as I only drink decaf which relegates me to a decaf americano at Frothy Monkey as my only choice. When I go with someone they always have neat little designs in the tops of their foam and say the drinks are good. I can say I had a decent omelette here on one occasion but it came with great bacon. Thick cut, smokey flavored bacon. Quick wifi available. Downsides are I always have trouble finding close parking and man this place can get busy during peak times and still be pretty hopping during some off peak hours. Giving 3 instead of 4 stars just cause its a-ok, never wowed enough for the 4th star.

Atmosphere - 5 stars Gluten Free options - 1 Star Monkey Mocha - 4 Stars Frozen Drinks - Non-existent Outdoor Seating - 5 Stars Manager Josh Blackburn - 5 Stars Parking - 2 Stars Other stuff - Haven't tried yet.

Stopped for breakfast passing through town while visiting Nashville. It's your typical trendy coffee shop with several people outside on their MacBooks. Nothing wrong with that, but you would expect descent wifi. Wifi was horrible. Very slow and had to constantly try and connect. Really this is no big deal other then I would not expect this at a trendy coffee spot. For instance I just tried to post this review and received an error that I'm not connected to the Internet even though it shows I am. Guess I'll block their network and use cellular. For breakfast I had the California which was two eggs over easy on toast. On the side it had avocado, bean sprouts and salsa. It tasted good but was overpriced IMO. Well, I did get an orange juice which was a 12 oz pre-packaged plastic bottle from concentrate which cost $2.79. I know every place charges a lot for OJ, but the total cost for breakfast was $11.79. For that price they should have at least included hash browns or fresh fruit or something. Also, you order up front, not waited on. But they do bring the food out to you. Do you tip in this situation? I didn't. So I guess that needs to be figured into the price also which makes it not so bad. So all in all I liked it and would go back. But I thought 3 stars was fair. If you want to be a typical trendy, over priced coffee spot then at least get the network thing right.

This place is a great place for all types - you can get a coffee, order a full meal if hungry, or hang out at night a drink beer or wine. Overall pretty good selections of food and beverages. The downside is they cannot handle a crowd very well. Come when it's slow and it's great, but try and a grab coffee in the morning and they are beyond the definition of slow. They only have one espresso machine - the last time I was there the barista was amazingly slow. I literally could have made 5 coffees to his 1. If they could get a better handle on their operations, I'd come back.

I had walked over to Meridee's, walked in and waited for someone, and only then was told that the place was closed. Well thanks for not locking the door and making me look like an idiot! So I walked across the alley, and found a wide open Frothy Monkey, and it's well-worth the visit. It has the benefits of several other coffee places without their problems. 1. It has the dedication to really nice coffee of Barista Parlor without being a bunch of hipster snobs. 2. It has the space and porch space of Bongo without being packed every minute it's open. It's busy quite a bit, but not packed all the darn time. 3. It has the New American menu of, say Coffee, Lunch, without being so esoteric that it would scare off a meat and potatoes guy like me. 4. It has the good wifi of Starbucks without being the faceless corporation that over-roasts their beans to the point of ash. At this point, it should be clear that this is a really well-done place. I've been to the FM's at 12South and at Grimey's Too, and this is the best in my estimation. The baristo I talked to was intelligent, well-spoken, had a good working knowledge of pulling shots, and pretty chatty. Almost perfect. If you can catch this place when it's not super-packed, then you'll have a good experience.

Have only been for breakfast but their architect omelets with Bentons bacon are my favorite weekend treat. I also love their coffee. Frothy also has a great atmosphere that I love to come and spend my weekend mornings. I have had both the special lattes and plain coffee is also delicious. The reason for the fifth star however is their baked goods. Everything I have had is beyond delicious. Even the day olds are a step above every one else's fresh. Their chocolate chip cookies are my favorite, ever. So good and thick. I love the local art on the walls.
(5)Steven M.
MILF central!!! Ooo and the food is bomb, def a hip spot in a small town! Had a pastrami sandwich with basil mayo and melted cheese. Was able to sit on the porch and people watch. Could have had a better side than chips but that was my mistake.
(4)Mike H.
Coffee - good enough. Service -- good enough. Worst WiFi ever. The porch is the best asset. Meh. I'll go back to Meridee's for better baked goods and better WiFi.

I'm originally from the Pacific Northwest where coffee is a part of the culture. I love a good cup of coffee, and I miss the community atmosphere that was present in many of the local coffeeshops in my hometown. Starbucks is alright, but presents only a dim reflection of this experience that is lacking compared to the memories I have of local places in Oregon. This is why I was so excited to hear about the Frothy Monkey which had great buzz when it opened in Franklin, my new home. I imagined a place that would compare to the local haunts I left behind. Walking in, my anticipation grew. The atmosphere is pretty solid. A great decor, albeit in a pretty small and noisy space. I could definitely see me and my friends spending time in such a place. (If we could score a few precious seats, that is) I glanced around, trying to find a menu. There were a few generic coffee drinks listed on the wall, but no prices and a fairly limited list. I did not imagine that this was the menu. After about 5 minutes of searching, I noticed a rack of papers tucked behind a shelf on the side of the room. Turns out that THESE were the menus. Turns out that the limited list on the side was ALSO the menu. Turns out they don't list their coffee prices anywhere. I would soon discover why. Despite hearing that they are normally insanely busy, I managed to slip in during a lull. There were only a couple folks in line. I imagined that would mean a quick service. (I was about to be unpleasantly surprised. ) Seriously. No exaggeration. Probably 20 minutes minimum to get my order taken, with only two people in line when I walked in. (And did I mention that was with TWO CASHIERS working TWO SEPARATE TILLS ?!?!?) Like other reviewers have stated, the iPad till might be trendy, but it's NOT efficient. It's complicated, and it doesn't help that the cashiers don't seem to understand how to use it. Each transaction seems to take forever, and the iPad seems to freeze often, which only compounds the problem. Bottom line is that it seems that a customer has to be prepared to wait an unusually long time to be served, and then also wait longer for their drink to be prepared. At least that was my experience. It took well over a half hour from the time arrived, to the time I finally left with my "to go" drink. And let's talk about the drink. I went in wanting to order a blended drink. Turns out they don't sell blended drinks. I always order a large that I drink throughout the day. Turns out they don't have a large size. Actually, turns out they only sell a small. (Compared to Starbucks) They didn't tell me this. I ordered a large and was only informed when I inquired after a very small cup was handed to me. Actually, the customer service was odd, almost standoffish, and slightly elitist. For example: I like flavors in my coffee. I see a selection of syrups behind the counter, but I'm told that they don't have syrups. (Hmmmmm.......) After a long wait, my order is rung up. SIX BUCKS ! For a SMALL ?!?!? That's about double Starbucks ! (Dang! It must be really good, right? Wellllll........) Have you ever bought a frappucino from a mini mart cooler ? Imagine a small plastic cup filled halfway from one of those bottles, and then being watered down with an extreme amount of ice. That would likely be BETTER than what I got, which was prepared in a similar fashion. The end result: a watery, flavorless, inferior concoction that was a tremendous disappointment. Oh well, at least there wasn't much to drink in the puny, overpriced cup. I probably sound a little harsh. I know that this establishment is popular right now. I don't mean to be rude. Businesses usually take awhile to get fully online. I can understand the bugs in the system initially. I guess what got to me, though, was the strange apathy of the employees that I experienced, and the overwhelmingly overpriced and inferior product. I felt like it was perhaps another mediocre business charging more and delivering less just because they can get away with it simply because they are located in such a great setting, the incredible community of Franklin, assuming that all their customers are wealthy enough to not mind throwing away money on a bad cup of coffee. I know. Harsh. I Apologize , but it's gotta be said. I think Frothy Monkey hints at a great idea. It's a place we want to love. But it was mostly just a nice package, with a disappointing product crammed inside with little concern for quality or delivery. Maybe an honest and candid reflection on one person's first impression will help them reach for what they can be. My suggestions (echoed by a few others): Drop the price, raise the quality, bigger cups. Maybe a smile. I WILL say that the food looked pretty good, although it is also pretty pricey. Interesting dishes though.

I was so excited to visit this Frothy Monkey for dinner tonight. I had read the other glowing yelpers' reviews, I knew this location in the old house that once housed Waves would be interesting, and just the thought of something new and different was very appealing. Let me say, I am not cool. My husband and I are in our mid-40's, so any points that an establishment gets for being new and hip and trendy that so often is highly revered by yelpers - that won't work with me. I respect the fact that they are very much trying to use local vendors, trying to be green, and are going for a slightly alternative menu. We ordered at the counter from the friendly guy, and paid via the ultra cool ipad based cash system signing with your finger, that's nifty. The only part that wasn't as nifty is the screen where you sign asks you to select a tip amount, 15, 18, or 20% right then. You're standing in front of this person that you have to go to in order to place your order, and your order isn't delivered yet much less than anything else - but you decide then how much to tip. Really? We had the Chicken dinner entree ($16), the Steak and Eggs ($16), a mocha ($4.45) and an iced fruit tea ($1.95). I had visited the Nashville FM so I knew I'd enjoy the mocha. Hubby had ordered the fruit tea and wasn't expecting an herbal based ice tea... this is Franklin, home of the sweet tea/orange juice/pineapple juice fruit tea in most establishments. We traded beverages and all was OK. We had some time to look around at the building while we waited for our entrees to be delivered, and they've done an interesting job at taking basically foundry pieces, like storm grate covers and manhole covers cut apart and re-arranged, hanging on the exposed brick walls for art. The floors are the original wood, and your overall feel is rustic, some parts of the ceiling are open to expose the joists above, etc. Our dinners arrived in super large bowls, we had to move our drinks on the adjacent two top table to accommodate both. Now, I know it's the thing lately to take entrees and pile everything artfully on top of each other layered in a bowl, but when your entree has bones still (the chicken), that makes it really hard to cut up and eat for the guest (me). My chicken was atop dumplings dispersed with sweet potatoes, and had spinach on top of that. It wasn't bad, but wasn't anything special -and honestly the chicken could've been cooked a little more. In this serving mode, if the chicken had been falling off the bone you've have been OK. We'll just say I was cutting some muscle. My menu description said there would be other roasted vegetables, they were not evident to me among all the dumpling goo. Hubby's Steak and Eggs were, well, not Steak and Eggs. It's brisket atop a bread pudding that tasted like stuffing, with eggs on top of that, then asparagus. It wasn't bad, just again wasn't anything special - and while he admits he should've read the menu closer, just the whole Steak/Not Steak kind of rubbed him wrong. And I will admit, you are reading a menu in a slightly dimly lit foyer area with a worker standing there awaiting your order, it's not like you're sitting at a table enjoying your coffee considering dinner options. Now, we both agree the coffee is good. We even decided to buy a bag of beans to try at home on our way out the door, and opted to also purchase a bakery item to enjoy later tonight. Our only two options to go were a wrapped in plastic coffee cake, and an oatmeal raisin cookie. And I do mean singular, we bought the last one. What I didn't realize when I was ordering it was that this cookie that the different cashier was pointing to, exposed on a wooden cutting board on my side of the cashier stand, was my actual cookie. No plastic, no glass cover, this is not the "sample," that was it. She bagged it up and my stomach turned, wanting to say never mind and refuse it, but also not a fan of causing a scene. I mean, ew! How many people in that foyer deciding on their orders have coughed today on top of that cookie? I don't know what we paid, because we did not get a receipt on this second order (which I have to point out again, asked us to tip 15, 18, or 20% on bagged coffee and two to-go desserts, we declined this time), but that was promptly thrown away. Will I go back to this location? Probably, especially to meet a girlfriend for coffee (no temptation for desserts, plus), but for dinner? Probably not. I'm sorry, but our dinner tab before the dessert/coffee was $48 after tax and tip. For $50, there are tons of places you can go and not order from a counter and enjoy a better meal. If yelp allowed me to rate 2.5, something in between "I've experienced better" and "A-OK," I'd have done that. Will this location still succeed in Franklin? Probably, because the young hipsters will enjoy its ambience, the local vendor philosophy, the good coffee, and the overall trendiness - and that's fine.

Great atmosphere...a good place to just sit and work on your computer you don't fee like you have to move. I also like their food--delicious! I look forward to going here on Saturday mornings and just hanging out! I love it!

Great spot for food & coffee with an awesome porch. Engaged personal service.

As far as coffee goes, I'm not the best to ask. If you're a well cultured coffee lover (i.e. slow drip, etc), this might not be the place for you. But it's hella better than starbucks, that's for sure. Food is great, a tad on the pricey side for what you get. But that's to be expected. HOWEVER. THERE ARE SO MANY TABLES THIS PLACE IS HOLY. My goodness. I can breathe. I thought the only way I could get coffee in nashville was by sitting in a 10x10 foot room with 200 of my favorite strangers, all attempting to check out email on the same wifi network. not so here. There's three (count them three!) rooms that could probably hold about 20 people comfortably if full. Amazing. And because it's in Franklin, hitting the shop at off hours (say, exactly 8am on a saturday morning), leads to the most quiet and wonderful spot. Easy parking (there's a lot behind the starbucks that you definitely don't want to go to. suck it starbucks), and once again, in the weekend mornings you'll have no trouble with street parking. i think the luxury of an empty coffee shop will be short lived (as of right now the franklin location has only been open for about 6 weeks-- it hasn't had enough time to gain traction yet). So enjoy the bliss while it lasts.

Great customer service and an amazing simple menu. Overall this is a gem for the downtown Franklin area.

The good stuff - the food is delicious and the coffee is great. I'm a plain, no frills coffee drinker so I can speak of the specialty drinks, but I can tell you that the coffee at the base of that fancy drink is delicious. I consumed, happily, the Ned, which is a tofu sandwich adorned with veggies and hummus on tasty bread. I opted to add a side salad, and I wasn't disappointed. Pretty greens with additional veggies. Good stuff. Now the downside - Given that I visited the first week they opened, this place is cramped. The door went out the line as the folks at the register tried to figure out their new ipad POS (point of sale) system. They opted to go with a completely ipad dependent system, which is pretty hip, but not completely functional. When it comes comes to inefficiency, I'm not flipping an ipad over and waiting for the screen to adjust so I can sign with my finger is the most effective way to place orders. Want a receipt? They can email that to you. Great green option, except with the line is going out the door. When I'm hungry and getting blasted with cold air from the door, I'm not thinking earth friendly. I'm thinking that I need to keep my mood in check because the hunger is making me angry. On the day we were there, it was cold outside. Limited seating inside (they didn't open the upstairs) moved us outside. Brrr! No outdoor heaters either. It made me wish that we had ordered soup! Despite the downsides, I WILL be back to Frothy Monkey. I live about a mile from this place, and I love that we have a local coffee shop in the neighborhood. I think I'll wait until all the newness wears off and they get their flow down. On a side note - I had no idea so many hipsters lived in Franklin. It was insane.

Great atmosphere! Visited this place when showing a friend from out of town around Franklin. We had the PMP sandwich which was great...enough to split for two people if you are not too hungry. We had a cup of chai tea and a cup of coffee along with that sandwich. The total cost was $18. I would say the place is great but a bit on the pricey end. Worth it though.

The Frothy Monkey has quickly become our favorite coffee shop in Franklin. I read the other reviews and for some it may depend on what they want and what they like. We love going most times of the day and finding a table. They have tons of tables. The best kept secret is the upstairs. They have inside and outside tables and the location is close to downtown. They feature the art of local folks on the wall. The staff is very friendly. The food and coffee are good. We went in for a beer last week. Their spirits collection is not large, but it was fine and we enjoyed the space and being there in the evening too. It is a comfortable place and we enjoy being in the spacious atmosphere with friendly people. I am looking forward to enjoying the outside now that Spring has sprung!

Fun, funky and local.

Let me start off by saying this - the FM Franklin has so much to offer and I truly hope one day it will live up to its potential. The building itself is awesome. Located just south of five points in historic downtown Franklin, you won't find a better town. I love the ambiance and funky cool atmosphere. Outdoor seating is plentiful and perfect for these beautiful summer days. Their latte is outstanding and I believe it's probably my favorite of any in be area. I love the idea of supporting local merchants especially when there is large chain competition right across the street. The reason for the 3 star review is the food. My children ordered the 'Monkey Dollars' which are silver dollar pancakes. They arrived charred and were nearly un edible. I feel like they tried to 'pull one over on us' since these were kid's orders. I ordered the quesedea which was over cooked and dry. The side of chips and salsa was very tasty. The waitress was friendly but extremely scatter brained. It took several trips back and forth to get out small order correct. I'll give the FM another chance and genuinely hope we have a better food experience.
(3)Steve S.
Great food quality but def little over priced. Typical trendy place. Love the coffee drinks. Like the atmosphere and better than Starbucks. There's also an upstairs. Great place to people watch or relax with a friend.
(4)Ash C.
I'm not a coffee fan, so I can't review the baristas and drinks. But let me tell you the food is amazing! I dream about the PMP, the trout a la heather, and even the salsa here. And whatever pastries they have on display are always good. So far I suggest the: blood orange-apple pie, corn-pepper scone, and lime-coconut scone. My husband got the steak and egg dish (can't remember the name): also very yummy. I will say the chocolate pudding 3 ways was a huge disappointment. The plain was fine, but the almond one tasted like someone accidentally dumped a whole bottle of almond extract in it. Aside from that the only negative is how busy it can get.
(4)Tim G.
I'm mixed. I love coffee but I was not impressed with the Frothy Monkey. Would give them a one start for the drinks. It was nice to have tables and a place to sit down. Would go back for a meeting because of the space, just would not be crazy about ordering a drink.
(3)Kerrick C.
I like this place very cute and homey I'm gluten free love their gluten free brownies! And their chai tea the only thing I would say is one time my moms friend got sick from there roasted vegetable oil was rancid YUCK! Would give them five stars if this didn't happen!
(4)Ruthann R.
Frothy Monkey is part of our family life. We walk into town almost every saturday to eat breakfast there with our friends. We all enjoy their food and baked goods. It is also the perfect place for a delicious week night dinner! We are often surprised how amazing their specials are! I highly recommend this place for families, friends wanting to have a casual place to catch up, coffee lovers, and anyone who needs a free wifi place to get some work done!
(5)Chris H.
Good coffee. Very few vegan menu options. The chips and salsa was tasty.
(4)Paul R.
Best coffee in Franklin. Took off a star because there weren't any monkeys inside. BLATANT FALSE ADVERTISING!
(4)Lisa M.
Great food!! The regal sandwich was worth going back for. Cute little coffee shop. Loved the salsa too
(5)Dalton Q.
I am so glad the Frothy Monkey is in Franklin Tn. I went there this morning and I got a plain coffee. The coffee was great and the price was right. The decor is awesome and comfortable. Very modern and a great option instead of the large chain operation near by. They have a place to park a bike if you ride in from the area, and they even have food items. I even noticed they have other events like Wine Wednesdays. Way to go Frothy Monkey you made my day today!
(5)Cartographer R.
Food was good, atmosphere was top notch in my book, the staff were awesome. Definitely a solid addition to the downtown Franklin vibe. I definitely want them to stay, this is for sure.
(4)John M.
I must admit the place does not disappoint it is a nicely remodeled place and I suppose one would call it hip. Wife and the kids went there Saturday and I understand there is a premium to get coffee in a "fancy" coffee joint but too mini lattes , and 1 albeit big cookie for $11.00 is a rip off. The coffee was OK, nothing to brag about from now on will save the $ and make the lattes at home. I do as good and for a heck of a lot cheaper and I don't need to fight for a seat.

I was so excited to learn that a Frothy Monkey was opening in downtown Franklin. My family frequents the downtown Starbucks and we were looking forward to supporting an independently-owned coffee shop. On my first visit, my husband and I, along with our toddler, ordered drinks. I ordered a small hot chocolate, which was fine, although I was shocked by the smallness of the small size. It looked more like a kids' size. If it hadn't been so expensive, I wouldn't have minded. Still, I planned to come back and try a regular-sized coffee in the future. This morning, I popped my toddler in the stroller and we walked to the Frothy Monkey for breakfast. I was excited to try some of their food as well as their coffee, since I'd only had the hot chocolate previously. I came on a Thursday morning, so there was no line, but it still took approximately 10-15 minutes to order. No one was at the cash register, although there were several baristas goofing off behind the counter. Finally, someone asked if I needed a menu. (They don't have a menu over the counter like most coffee shops. You have to ask for a menu, which slows down the ordering process considerably.) However, I'd already planned my order after looking at their menu online, so I didn't need one. My first question, as I had my 17-month-old son with me, was whether they had any kids' drinks like juice boxes. They seemed confused by this request and pulled out a bottled orange juice. I clarified that I was wondering if they had any drinks with straws. They said no, so I asked if they had to-go cups with lids and they said yes. I said that worked great and asked if I could get a milk for my son in a to-go cup. Though they've been open for several months now, the barista was obviously not familiar with keying orders in (perhaps she was new) and took several minutes keying in the milk. Prior to keying the milk in, she asked if she could have a minute and then played around with the cash register for 3-4 minutes before I asked, "Ready?" and she reluctantly said, "Yeah." I then ordered a kids' cheesy eggs and asked if I could sub the bacon for turkey sausage. This also prompted a look of confusion (though turkey sausage is on their menu and substitutions, even, are mentioned on the menu). "You want to add a side of bacon?" she asked. I politely said no, I meant that I wanted to sub the bacon for turkey sausage. She managed to key this in and then I started my order. "I'd like..." She looked obviously annoyed that I was ordering more items. I ordered a Julia bagel sandwich and asked if I could replace the feta with cheddar. She keyed it in and, to make sure, I repeated, "Can I get the feta replaced with cheddar?" and she pressed a few more keys (I guess she missed it the first time). I also asked for a coffee and water. My total came to $16.75 - for a bagel sandwich, a plain coffee, a kids' meal, and milk. I paid nearly seventeen dollars for my toddler and I to eat. I could've eaten at Cracker Barrel for less and had far better service and food. They handed me a steaming-hot to-go cup of coffee and I asked for a lid. "They're over there," a barista pointed, so I dressed my coffee with half-and-half and a lid. I was excited to try it. As I brought it to my lips, I noticed that it smelled terrible, but I hoped it was just a fluke. It wasn't. The taste mirrored the smell perfectly. It was disgusting. It tasted like the inside of an old man's armpit and that's not an exaggeration. I told my husband that I'd rather microwave two-day-old coffee at home than ever sample the Frothy Monkey's "fresh" coffee again. For perspective, we are huge coffee drinkers in my house - we used a French press for years before "graduating" to a Bialetti percolator last year. We love good coffee. The Frothy Monkey does not make or sell good coffee. The entire time I was ordering, I felt like an inconvenience - not like a valued customer. I'm only 26 and I felt like a middle-aged mom walking into a college dorm room - like I'd killed the mood for them with my very presence. My son and I waited at a table (the dining area is very cramped, by the way, although I will admit that the decor/architecture of the building is great) for about 5-8 minutes for our food. The wait wasn't terrible, but as I stated, there was no line when we arrived. I'm not sure what the wait would be like when the store is busier. My bagel sandwich was cold - the bagel I can forgive because I didn't ask for it to be toasted, but the eggs and bacon? Not very appetizing. My son's plate would've been fine except for the hair I found in his eggs. If you're an unmarried hipster between the ages of 16-25 who still gets an allowance from Mom and Dad, you'll love the Frothy Monkey in downtown Franklin. For most people (especially families), it's simply not affordable - and the lackluster service and food will eighty-six any possibility of a return visit. Check out Merridee's or The Coffee House at Second and Bridge instead.

My mom and I went here recently and it was just a roller coaster of an experience. I wasn't happy that we were going there either because my dad, after multiple visits, said the coffee was sub par. But, we decided to give it a chance because some of my friends like it. As soon as we got in there, i knew we were in trouble. It was PACKED to the gills full of snobby and pretentious people and the line was practically out the door. We got in line to order and that took about 10 minutes. The real adventure was getting actually getting the coffee. Oh my lanta it took 20+ minutes to get a cursed chai tea latte and a coffee for my mom. There were plenty of staff but they were just slow and lethargic young adults who looked like they didn't give a rat tooth about serving. When finally sipping my beverage, i became extremely disappointed because it was just awful. Stick to starbucks or a keurig machine jeez.

Nice vibe. Good food. Good Internet. Ample seating. Too bad about the coffee.

Breakfast and two large chai's came out to $22. Oatmeal with fresh fruit, french toast used fresh baked baguette that was a little dry but overall satisfying. Staff were very friendly and engaging even though it was busy. Sunday morning at 9:30am wasn't too crazy. Would recommend to anyone in the area!

Hip. Cool. You. Once you try this place, you will come back. I haven't been to Starbucks since the day I took a sip of a Frothy Monkey latte. And, the food is fantastic and sourced locally. Staff is knowledgeable and nice. It can get very crowded at peak hours but well worth the wait. See - that's cool. Man. Right on. Can say enough good things about Frothy Monkey.

I am so bummed....my husband and I roam Franklin each weekend for the breakfast spots.....first impression ..we walk in and we were not greeted.....We had to stand in line to order our food and had to hunt down a menu... This day the waffle maker was broken so we got the pancakes which were really good. The atmosphere was cool which is nice for downtown Franklin .. Recommendations: 1. Have a milder coffee blend available (j Christopher's rocks), greet your guests and hand them a menu and maybe thank them for coming in with a menu (note to over 40 crowd...dont forget your readers)....we did receive our food rather quickly...but then it occurred to us in order to get another cup of coffee we would have to get in line again t!!!!!!! 2. Just use waitstaff to seat folks, take orders and carry coffee pots to refill coffee and this place will be a repeater. Otherwise, as busy as it was I don't see it being a place we would return to often.....if you want great service, a pot of coffee on your table in regular or bold blend, and great food try J. Christopher's !!
