Really good food. Since the menu is extensive and a line was forming behind us, we asked the owner for suggestions. We ended up with the boneless chicken biryani, goat palak, and either chicken 65 or chicken 555, I'm not sure. The chicken in the biryani was tender and delicious, a little spicy. It came with a yogurt sauce that really amped it up. The goat in the palak was tender like a slow roasted pork shoulder. It was the spiciest (heat) of the three. Then there was the chicken 65 or 555. Wow. We couldn't stop eating even though we were stuffed. A little naan made our big lunch complete.

Terrible service and average food. Bad attitude by the owner to add to the mediocrity. I ordered an Onion Chilli Uthappam for carry out and only realized that it was not fully cooked when I got home. At the restaurant, I specifically asked for sambar and chutney with the Uthappam and he assured me that it had been packed. It was an error on my part as well not to check but again only realized when I got home. When I called the restaurant back, the owner had the audacity to tell me that I should have checked. It's just a mom n pop store where people with no experience on how to run a restaurant are the ones running it. Stay away from here if you don't care about service.

The food is ok but the service is not good. Had a bad experience while ordering take-out over the phone. The person taking order was non-cooperative and rude.

This was my first Indian food experience. It was great. I liked the chicken tikka masala and butter chicken and the chili paneer. I especially liked the naan which is like pita bread meets country yeast roll. Dal curry and sambar was also really great.

This place was suggested to me by a friend, so my wife and I decided to give it a try when we were in that part of Cool Springs. Overall the food was excellent and they would have earned 5 stars had the service been friendlier and more organized. For appetizers we both had vegetable Samosas which were really tasty and had the right amount of spuce. For entree I had the Boneless Chicken Biryani. The reviewer who stated that he hardly got any chicken baffles me. The portion size was generous with lots of chicken on top of a really nicely flavored rice. I usually don't take food home but this dish was so good that I could not resist packing it up in a to go box for lunch the next day. My wife had chicken tikka masala and she was delighted with the quality. I tried some of hers and thought the sauce was of a very high quality. All of this came to $27 which for an Indian meal other than a buffet is excellent. My one negative is the service. You order at the counter and then take a seat and wait for them to bring it out. The girl at the order desk was not that helpful and just waited for our order as if we were at a fast food burger place. My main gripe was the timing, my wife's order came out a good 5 to 10 minutes before mine. She was half way through when I was finally served. i also noted that people who ordered after me were getting their food. I am sure the food is made fresh but some communication as to why my food may have taken longer would have been helpful. This will not stop me going back since the food was well worth it.

Hi Bawarchi Franklin Team, I am writing this review as I have experienced lack of taste and quality in your food recently.I have ordered Chicken Chettinad and Veg Biryani Today and found the taste and texture is no longer the same which i used to get from Bawarchi Biryani. Chicken Chettinad was not spicy as it was used to be and Famous for ..Veg Biryani was very Dry and out of taste,It didn't had Salt also. I am a very Regular Customer of bawarchi Biryani since Dec 2014 and enjoyed the food in the past But ,I am sorry to say that this is something I am not expecting from you.I hope I will get the original Bawarchi taste next time . Thanks, Gaurav Sharma

A fine biriyani establishment in the heart of Franklin. As a South Indian, believe me when I say that this is authentic. The preparation is filled with efficacy and love for the food. For vegetarians, veg dum and paneer biriyani are simply superb. Non vegetarians can have an amazing variety of choice from tender chicken marinated and served in rice, appetizers such as Chicken 65 and they also have a rotating special menu. The food is served hot. The only disadvantage is when they are packed and unable to meet the requirements of the customer base in terms of time of service. To avoid this, please order in advance. Staff is very friendly and allows for mixing and matching of orders. They will also help you if some dish turns out not to your liking. Spice levels should be mentioned at the time of the order to ensure that the dish is to your liking.

This was my first visit! My boyfriend had the Egg Biryani which was flavorful, and he enjoyed. I had the Five Star Dosa, which was delicious. lt was a bit spicy for me, so my nose was running...but I walked out of there with a happy tummy and clear sinuses!

So I'm always in search of a few staples when I move to a new area: a sushi spot, a tex mex spot, and an Indian spot. I think I may have found my fix! Dosas from here reminded me of being back on Damen Ave in Chicago (which is a /very/ good thing). I need to come back to try my guilty pleasure for when I'm too lazy to cook (chicken tikka masala) but they're very accommodating. Came as a work lunch with those who cannot handle spice and they were able to lower the heat for them without mitigating the flavor profiles. Food came out in a relatively timely manner and for a good price. Considering I know how hard it is to make dosas I'm already quite happy about this place, will definitely update as I go through the menu--cause I mean really, it's so close to where I work/live and pretty cheap...it'd be a shame not to! OH also had a pretty satisfying vegetable samosa, I like my chutneys with samosas hot and acidic though, so I could do without the chutney they gave with it. Still pretty satisfied with it regardless. Pros: Large portions, good price, pretty authenic Cons: Don't come here if you want it fast paced unless you order ahead, they make it fresh people come on.
(4)Cristen C.
I love this place. I was introduced by my coworker who said it was the best Indian she had ever had. The rice is amazing, the portions are large. It is a small, authentic restaurant - not fancy or glamorous, but the food is great. Better than Bombay Bistro and half the price.
(5)Avinash S.
Food used to be good. But they have opened another restuarant in nashville. Sahi paneer lacks the texture it used.. quality of food has deteriorated..
(2)Michael M.
It was my first time trying Indian food and I have to say I was very impressed with the gentleman that helped us and the food. The food was very flavorful

Good restaurant. The food was well made and there was plenty of it! My normal Indian spot in town is Swagrahu by the movie theater and that place is fantastic. My wife and I decided to try something new and gave Bawarchi a try. It has a setting like Oscar's where you walk up to the register and place your order. They will then bring the food to your table when it is ready. The food was good. You can tell that there are some differences between the Indian places (could be regional or differences in cooking style). I had the Biryani which is what I typically order at Swagrahu too. It was good, but not quite as flavorful. They gave us a ton of food though. We took so much home. The service was fair. The food came out in parts. My wife had hers about 5 minutes before I had mine. There are also only a few drink selections. They appear to have a few beers in a cooler as well as a few fountain drinks. While I wasn't blown away by Bawarchi, I thought the food was good and I would go back. They have some different items on the menu than Swagrahu and they are a good alternative if you're looking to mix-up your Indian cuisines.

My friend and I really wanted to try Indian food. We chose this restaurant. They were supposed to open at 11:00AM. We walked in at 11:00AM. The employee's were still coming in, nothing was turned on, the kitchen help were not in the kitchen AND the tables had not been cleaned from the day before. Yes, I do know Indian food can be hot/spicy, HOWEVER, would it not be appropriate when ordering for the person to ask, "Have you eaten Indian food before?" "Do you like spicy?" We should have been asked/reminded so we could have had the option of ordering our meal non spicy. FORTY MINUTES after we ordered or food finally came out. It was so incredibly hot, there was absolutely no way we could eat it. Our time and $25.00 for lunch was completely wasted. Lastly, there were four men working and everyone of them seemed unhappy, unsociable and mad at the world. The owner was extremely arrogant. Not a good atmosphere or experience for us. Very disappointed and will not return!

Wish I would have read the review of the guy's review who stated he tasted MSG in the food. That would probably explain my migraine tonight. Came here with some cycling friends for lunch today after a ride who states this new joint is their favorite new Indian restaurant in the area. I didn't realize the previous restaurant had gone out of business. It was packed, and we were the only non-Indians in the place, so I thought it had to be good. The food was actually pretty good. My friends ordered some appetizers that were delicious. I particularly liked the gobi manchurian (cooked cauliflower fritters). I ordered the vegetable biryani. I really liked the rice and flavor, but the vegetables were sparse in the dish and it wasn't as spicy as I would have liked. I tried my friend's rava dosa (an Indian crepe of south India), and it was very good and came with a great chutney and other dipping sauces. The menu and ordering process was kind of disorganized, and the drink fountain is located where you have to cut back through the line to access it. The service was great and we were checked on twice by staff to see how we liked our food. I would give this place another try and probably get the dosa. If I get a migraine a second time, then I won't come back. But the food was good enough to warrant another visit.

I went here for chicken biryani. Food was gross, literally unacceptable. Found only 5 small chicken pieces in the whole biryani. Promised myself never to return.
(1)Jeremy E.
If you like authentic Indian food, this is your jam. I went for lunch and had their Dosa Masala, and it was the best I have had since living in India. It was perfect. They also offer Norther Indian cuisine. The menu isn't set and they make new dishes every day. Run to this place!

So my family and I have been to Bawarchi several times and while we did enjoy our food, we did not appreciate the attitude of the owner. I had previously read a review written by someone other than myself about Bawarchi using MSG in some of the dishes they serve there. Being allergic to MSG, I questioned a server upon one of our visits about their using it. She did tell me that they did use it. After we had sat down and our food was served, the owner actually came over to our table, looked at me and told me to be nice and they basically didn't appreciate people saying bad things about their business. He said they didn't want or need that there. That he was trying to "run a business." I looked at my husband in shock, looked back at the owner and said I don't understand what you mean?!? You see he assumed I had written the previous review about MSG. When in REALITY I had only read the review which caused me to question the server about their use of it in the food they serve. His attitude was so arrogant, rude, and full of pride. Needless to say WE WILL NOT BE GOING BACK. We WILL NOT be giving them our business again. First of all for an owner to act in such an arrogant, rude manner by accusing a paying customer of writing a review that they didn't write is wrong on every level. I only asked a question about the use of MSG in their food. Because I'm allergic to it!! I have every right to ask that question, anyone does. And for him to be so selfish as to respond to me in such an attitude of uncaring about the problems MSG could cause if I were to consume it, he unapologetically let me know that a bad attitude wasn't appreciated at their place of business (because he assumed I had written a review I didn't write) Well, now I have written a review. An honest review of our experience at Bawarchi in Franklin. Yes, the food we had was good but the way we were treated was not. I hope others have a better experience there. It's a shame the owner was so rude to us that day because their food isn't bad. However it isn't good enough for us to return to this place of business. The bad attitude displayed that Sunday afternoon greatly outweighs the food.

The food: best Indian anywhere in middle TN for sure, possibly best I've had anywhere (London, Los Angeles, Atlanta). I have not traveled to India, so no ability to compare there. We were the only non-Indian patrons, a sign of authenticity, plus everyone was clearly enjoying the food. Service: we went on a Saturday, the place was jammed (we got the last table) and there was no lag in service. The manager was extremely cordial and took the time to answer our questions as we were looking for recommendations on what to order and wanting to know a little bit about the restaurant since it is new. Food came in a very reasonable amount of time, delivered to our table with a smile.
(5)Brijen P.
Food was amazing! The owner is really helpful in suggesting what to order. He's very friendly and keeps a great atmosphere there. Will definitely be going back!
(5)Michele S.
5 stars for tasty food. Minus 2 for very bad service. I got my food in an appropriate time frame. But it took asking twice for husbands dish and after a total of 20minutes they went again to the back, and brought back some appetizers to appease him. Order came in another 5. The table behind us had several errors on their order. That said, food WAS good. If they get their act together on service , we'll be back. Fast food environment.

I come here when work is over and I just want to slow down, drink a beer, and eat some good food. I could see that this may not be the place for someone In a hurry, but that doesn't bother me. This is my favorite Indian place around, and there are some good curry shops around. It is true, the wait is not short (but it's not THAT long either), and it can be a little pricy. But the service is great, the people are wonderfully kind, and the food is beyond delicious.

Opt this restaurant only ******* if you want to eat Biryani. the Chicken, Goat and Veg Biryani is **** not good **** it's dry and not like it used to be. probably I assume that the cook has been changed because the taste is not consistent. the Fish and Shrimp Biryani is good as they come with the extra masala that keeps it not dry and is more tasty. believe me though it is a little spicy there is no harm in eating it. that's how an authentic Biryani is supposed to be (Fish and Shrimp Biryani). Also do not eat Idly, vada dosa etc. this place is only for Biryani and not authentic for breakfast items. eat only Biryani and other non veg dishes. I was not happy with my last visit. the goat and chicken were not at all good. upon complaining they gave my money back on the table very unprofessional. Small change, the chicken Biryani comes in different varieties. The boneless chicken Biryani is good. And the daily special are good. note to the restaurant - please improve on goat, veg and chicken Biryani. they are just not up to the mark. I am a Biryani lover and I know what is authentic.

This place is absolutely new and inexperienced Thay don't have naan I mean who doesn't have naan Very disappointing
(1)Crabby O.
Let's start with the obvious here. Whoever is running this restaurant must be a rookie. The place is complete chaos both behind the counter and in the dining room. They have far too many tables crammed into this place. For example you have a slow-moving fast-casual line, a cashier to the left and then guess where the drink fountain is - of course to the right of the customer line. They have a variable menu, not a problem. The have a printed menu that is apparently meaningless, problem. The variable menu scrawled in small print on a neon markerboard (looks like something you would see behind the bar at a frat house announcing the next intramural soccer game time), problem. Said markerboard is in a place where it hard to see from where you order, problem. Said markerboard has obnoxious feature to flash rapidly in different colors - yep you guessed it they had that "feature" enabled. big problem. The biryani indeed had some interesting flavors but was grossly over-salted and had very few vegetables in it. For a place that is touted as authentic I was shocked to taste MSG in all the dishes. Pakora was burnt to a crisp - should not have been served at all. Meat dishes again had some nice flavors but were all gravy and contained about 2oz of meat.
(2)BILLY W.
Disappointing. The naan bread was reconstituted frozen. Tikka masala and paneer were substandard. Slow service. Unauthentic in every way except for the personnel. I will not return.
(2)Gani G.
I am not a resident of Tennessee. But I like this place. Goat biryani was awesome and chitinad chicken was good too. Only naans were small with less cost. Increase size and price
(4)Prasad P.
Horrible food. Lassi was stale. Their chicken biryani is nothing but biryani rice with a layer of chicken curry on top of rice. Tasted really bad. Disgrace to the authentic biryani you get at a true bawarchi in Hyderabad, India. They don't even make real naan. It's pita bread, microwaved and served.
(1)Chris H.
5 star quality food. 1 star speed of service. Don't go here if you are pressed for time. I am waiting over an hour for two orders of chicken tiki masala. Just plain unacceptable. Unfortunately this place probably won't be open long, as good as their food is. I could have gone home and cooked the food they made in half the time from scratch.
(3)Sumit J.
We love the food here, but their service is getting worse day by day. Today they messed up my to go order. Missed an item in my order. When i called them back to tell them what has happened, i was not aware of the arrogance which was in-store for me. The person who answered the called w/o saying sorry or apologizing for happened, said ' the person who took your order has left for the day and we cannot help now' I was not expecting refunds or any favors but a simple apology. But the person kept arguing till the end. This service is not going to take you anywhere people.

My husband & I love the biryani here! I work in Franklin & love being able to place an order online to grab on my way home - very convenient. Service: When I arrived to pick up my food, it was ready & waiting to be bagged. The man working the counter had noticed that I specified names on my order, one shrimp biryani & one boneless chicken biryani, & was waiting to ask if I wanted them placed in a separate bag in case I indicated names because of an allergy. I was pleasantly surprised that he had picked up on such a small detail because this is in fact the case. Very impressed with customer service! Food: My husband served in the Middle East, living close to locals, and became accustomed to this type of food, so he loves to find a good biryani. After recently moving from Chicago, he's been searching & has declared this his favorite! The food was excellent! The biryani has large portions with the perfect amount of heat and spice. The shrimp order had an amazing amount of shrimp too! Overall, we were very pleased with our to-go order and will be returning.

This is a pretty awesome Biryani spot in Cool Springs, TN. I dined here with some friends after work and it was a very nice time. The Boneless Chicken Biryani special was amazing! I will say that the vegetable samosa could use some serious work and had a not very pleasing combo of flavors that I wouldn't serve to anybody. Just skip the samosa for now and enjoy some awesome biryanis here and you'll love it. The staff was very cool and respectful. Also very well dressed! I would love to visit again, I can't wait for some quick and great biryani again.

While on vacation I was craving some Indian food and decided to go to Bawarchi Biryani Point. All I can say is amazing. The food was very delicious and their Mango Lassi was to die for, it was so smooth and creamy. Customer service was nice and very helpful. I definitely recommend this restaurant.
(5)Graham M.
The food is delicious, and authentic southern Indian. The service is slow because they are not used to running a restaurant. Give this place time and the service will get better. Go here and order the Chicken Dum Biryani, and get chai to drink. Fresh spices, and deep flavors. Trust me
(4)Craig W.
I really enjoy going to Bawarchi for a quick lunch! My favorite is the chicken biryani because the chicken is always tender, the spices that are used are traditional indian spices, and the aroma from everything blending together is delightful! The staff is always friendly and punctual. I really enjoy dining on the patio too! I highly recommend Bawarchi for a traditional indian meal.

The arrival in Franklin of the first Indian food chains that I know of. Bawarchi Group's website states that there are 15 restaurants in the Midwest. See their website at bawarchirestaurants.com/… This is Indian fast food. Counter service with numbers that you display at your table and the food is delivered as it's ready. Dhum Biriyani from Hyderabad is their specialty. We didn't try it on this visit--nuts are bad for my boys. Bawarchi uses nuts and eggs that our boys can't eat. So sad for us. It restricts a lot of our choices. For this visit, they sweetly made a giant Dosa with cheese for my little one. An Indian grilled cheese. Delicious, crispy and hot. My older son had spicy Tawa fish fry--not their greatest dish--the fish seemed a bit soggy. It wasn't really deep fried like you might think; instead it was pan fried with a crust of spice that wasn't very crispy. The Uttapam (a rice/lentil pancake bread) was crispy, savory and delicious, with minced red onion. I had a mutton pepper fry that was very spicy-great for me. I love it hot. Authentic with lots of bones--I think this can turn off the local crowd b/c we are used to getting lots of meat-not bones. My husband had a goat curry. It was served with a side of chapatis. Very tasty. All in all, lots of savory spiciness. Great selection of Dosas and we'll be back to try those. The generous use of nuts here will ensure that with our family nut allergies, we will be eating with a side of frisson, but we will stay on the Dosa straight and narrow. They've only been here 6 weeks! Wow. The kitchen is doing a great job turning out tasty food. The order taking and food delivery is still getting organized, so you'll have to be patient. The flat note was the whole fried jalapeños. They were covered with a thick hard batter. Never had this before so not sure whether this was supposed to be that hard texture or not. A tip: Try the Dosas. They turn these out quickly. We've only tried one so far but the texture was excellent. High notes: Kingfisher and Taj Indian beers. Three stars for now b/c they're still getting organized and I need to visit a few more times and try other offerings on the menu. I look forward to them getting their machine well oiled but would recommend them for their Dosas and at least their Mutton pepper fry--especially for you chili heads out there.

I come to a restaurant for its food. Service is a necessity, but has to be really bad to turn me away. This restaurant is part of a chain. It's a small storefront, so you know what you're walking into. Service isn't going to be on par with a larger restaurant. Still, service was excellent on my visit. The staff were cheerful, helpful, and knowledgeable. All wins. The food? The tikka was delightful. Warmly spiced and just enough to make my nose run. I'll visit again.
(4)Ryan S.
Food was quite tasteful. Comfortable environment and the staff & owners were very friendly and welcoming. I look forward in returning again very soon.
(5)Sally R.
Had a lunch date with my husband here. LOVE IT! Ordered the Goat Khorma mild with a mango lassi to chase it down. Delish!!! Service was excellent. :)
(5)Dougie C.
Went for lunch....ok the service was slow ish.... But the food was FIRST CLASS! I'm a curry holic, I make no apologies for that, and try any Indian restaurant I see and this ones food is good. Spicy, tasty and plenty of it! And great value. Definitely will come back!
(5)Doug L.
The menu board was hard to read and unless you know Indian food good luck knowing what your ordering. The lady at the counter was very friendly and helpful and made the ordering process easier. I had the chili chicken and loved the heat and flavor. My wife got the chicken tikka masala which she very much enjoyed. The wife also like the mango lassi. Im sure we'll be back to try some more dishes.
(4)Munch B.
Love their snack menu. Punugulu, mirchi Bajji ,samosa .. Awesome place for Indian snack on at 3 or 5 pm
(4)Jeff O.
I had read some of the reviews, so I made sure to check my order before leaving the restaurant. For a takeout place, it took a while to prepare the food, but I had called ahead so it was ready for me when I got there. We had the chicken biryani (they were out of the goat, as I heard that was their speciality), which was better than any my wife and I had tried in the Nashville area. We really liked the Chicken Tikka Masala, and I really liked the Chili Chicken (a bit too spicy for my wife, so we'll have to tone that down a notch, next time). The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The only thing I didn't care for was that the naan seemed to be nothing more than some heated pita bread - not at all like the naan I've had in India and in places in Nashville. I won't get that again, unless they improve drastically. Also, the prices seemed a bit high, but we did get decent portions. We will be back, particularly when we just want to pick something up and not go to a sit down buffet (more options and greater likelihood everyone can find something they really like).
