Friendly and attentive service. Loved the fall off the bone ribs! The filet was tender and cooked perfectly. Try the cobbler. Wish they had a better selection of draft beer.

been to Nashville and outskirts a bunch of times visiting friends and saw pics of food items for this place on Facebook! The BBQ chicken with beans and sweet tea plus prime rib pics got to me so I went for it while here. I was in no way disappointed. The Prime was prime-medium rare just as i ordered, juicy and their seasoning was the bomb! the salad was fresh, restaurant was nicely organized and probably won't need restaurant Impossible any time soon.Wait folks were cheery and efficient and i was pleased with both my Prime Rib,(wife had BBQ chicken she enjoyed),and the price for the meals was very reasonable! i would go back when in the area for sure. Thanks y'all! :)

My wife and I stopped in on Sunday afternoon. We ordered a couple of tap beers and they were served promptly and very cold. We were then served a couple of complimentary biscuits which were fresh and flaky. We each had a burger, I had one topped with pulled pork, sausage and onion rings. The sausage was very good. The burgers were both very good and served hot. The bun was sturdy and fresh. They were served with fries which seemed home made, but could have been better prepared. I tried the BBQ sauce and it was fine. The service was very good. The prices were reasonable.

We went here for lunch today. I had a plate of vegetable side dishes with Mac and cheese, baked beans, and fried potatoes. My husband had a burger and fries. And for dessert we split peach cobbler with ice cream. My food was pretty good. No complaints there. My husband said his burger was good but the fries were a little off. He said about half of them seemed undercooked. The peach cobbler was delicious but a little expensive with the ice cream on it ($7). Our whole meal with dessert only ended up being $21, which I think is a GREAT price for what we got. The portions were generous! We will be going back for another try! I also love that they have brunch on Sunday. Next time I will try out the breakfast food! Overall I am very satisfied. Plus the man working (seemed like a manager) was super nice, and hardworking!

What is going on with the restaurants in Fairview? We just can't seem to get a good high quality restaurant that serves fresh food. Unfortunately, Hickory Home Family Restaurant is no different. It's obvious that the food is frozen and prepared by under qualified cooks. The serving staff is average at best and could use some additional training. They have a tiny selection of beer. No craft beer at all and nothing local either. I don't know why restaurants don't at the very least carry a craft beer like Yazoo or Sierra Nevada. The prices are way too high for the quality. I just can't say enough how important it is to serve fresh high quality food. Hickory Home fails at this and that's really disappointing. I could barely eat my food because I knew it was just pulled from a freezer in the back and the cooks are just following the directions on the box. It's sad to say that this will be another failed restaurant in Fairview if it's run this way. Sub-par service, terrible food, and an abysmal beer selection equals an all but guaranteed failure. I won't be returning.

I'm always surprised reading other reviews of this restaurant. I've never had a bad meal, and it might be the best barbecue I've ever had. Ever. Weekdays they run a 2 for $20 special that includes an appetizer, 2 full dinner plates, and a dessert. I've never made it to the dessert yet (usually just take it to go). The "Cowboy" sandwich is so big (stacked with pulled pork, beef brisket, smoked sausage, onion strings, and vegetables), I can hardly eat it all. Not to mention it comes with a side, and I've already had an appetizer and corn muffin. I leave stuffed every time. The service has always been great as well. Servers are always nice and polite, attentive, and the wait has never been long at all.

Sorry, but this experience was abysmal. Poor service; the waitress never once refilled my water. Apparently, if I didn't order a drink that would boost my bill, she didn't think I needed a second glass. I ordered the potato skins, and was very sad to be delivered skins that had very clearly been made by Sysco months earlier, then pulled from the freezer and nuked. The prices are way too high for the quality of the food, and the service is simply non-existent. In addition, the server failed to bring the change to me after I paid the bill. I didn't tell her "We're all set" when I put the bills with the check, so I expected change. Sadly, the coins she felt it was her right to keep then became her tip - in total. The owners should have put less money into the building and instead invested in a properly trained chef, fresh food, and well trained, pleasant staff. I expect this one to close in 6 months or less, as people won't continue to pay exorbitant prices for sub-par food served by uncaring and inept staff. Poor parking was an issue when it first opened, however, since it is typically empty there now, at least you can finally be assured of a prime parking spot.

I have eaten here 3 times now. Why do I go back? The locals (and I am one) keep telling me to give them another try. The first time it was carry out. We ordered BBQ chicken, slaw and baked beans. The chicken wasn't done, the slaw was mostly mayo and the beans were ho-hum. The second time I ordered homemade tomato soup and salad. We got biscuits (complementary) that were barely warm and wouldn't even soften the butter, the soup was a poorly doctored canned soup (heavy tomato paste flavor) and. the salad was good. I asked for crackers but the didn't have any. The third time I ordered chicken salad but they were sold out so I ordered grilled chicken sandwich. The chicken was warm and juicy but the bun was 2x bigger than the chicken. The chicken was also very thick on the sides and extremely thin in the middle. The French fries that came with it were undercooked and soggy. When I held it up for the waitress and remarked they were under cooked (it limped over in my hand) she said she was surprised I didn't like them because that's the way she likes to eat them. You may ask why I don't try the BBQ - well I am highly allergic to beef & pork. We haven't been back.

Recently decided to try this p!ace again and was quite happy with a great burger with mushrooms and onions. The iced tea was cold and fresh. The dining room was spotless, very cheerful and the service was great. One thing that stood out was the gleaming polished silverware and I appreciated that. However, on another visit I had the BBQ and it was good but the side items were very disappointing. I'm afraid they've gone from Robert Orr Sysco to Publix on the potato salad. Potato salad was wretched and slaw was tasteless and boring. Some "real" homemade mustard egg potato salad would be where I'd start. The original Hickory Home side item recipes would bring most of Fairview back as customers. The heart and soul of a BBQ place is the side items! I see improvement but the food recipes could be a lot better. I'd enlist the help of a good caterer or proper chef. The place is improving though! I'm encouraged!

Had the onion rings as an appetizer and those were very good. My entre was pulled pork plate and that was good as well. The only complaint I have is the portion was kind if small.

Three of us had or tried to have dinner here tonight. The garlic mashed potatoes were old and dried out. There was a hair in my baked beans. The steak that was supposed to be medium well was more like medium rare. I have eaten here a couple times before and it was okay. In past visits there was bread brought to the table first thing. Tonight, no bread. When I asked the waitress if they no longer brought bread to the table she said they had no fresh bread and she was waiting for it to cook. About 45 seconds after she left our table another waitress took a platter of bread to a table beside us! The manager came over to see how our meal was and when I told him all the issues he said he would take care of it and especially the steak. He didn't say very much about the hair except he was sorry it happened! He also said they don't serve bread they serve corn muffins. Well the last time I checked corn muffins are BREAD!. Anyway, he brought our ticket back and he had given us 20% off the bill because of our issues and coupons for 20% off our next visit! He wasted those coupons because we will NOT be back..But we will tell everyone we know about how bad the service and food were!! We actually left there and went to LaPlaza and had a great meal!!! Adios Hickory Home!!
