I came across this place while in town on business. We went for lunch. The service was great and very attentive. I had the buffalo chicken sandwich. It was pretty typical, but with a very large portion for chicken. The river was beautiful. I would definitely go back.

I've been three times now. Just recently moved to the area. Food is good but nothing special. Had excellent service each time so more than likely I'll be back. Not a whole lot in Dayton and probably the "nicest" place in town, worth the try if you're visiting or passing through.

I'm currently sitting at the bar waiting on my to-go order. This is my second time at this restaurant and both times have been less than stellar. The food is pretty good but the service is absolutely pitiful. I've been sitting at the bar for 14 minutes now and have not been asked if I'd like a drink or a water while I wait. I have counted 9 staff members literally frolicking about, running through the restaurant, speaking with inappropriate language around the guests and just over being immature. Two servers argued in front of me about my order. I will not come here again. This place is probably okay for locals in a small town who have nothing better but I would not recommend it to anyone who is passing through. Go to mcdonalds instead, at least then you expect mediocre food and poor service and it won't cost you much. Food just came and my order was wrong... And still no drink.

My husband and I go here about once a week for their fillet. The steak is always cooked perfectly and seasoned just right. The service is usually great and has a great view. Top notch!

My family came to Jacob Myers for a wedding the next day. The quality of the food and service does not match the goofy atmosphere. I'll start with the food: buffalo shrimp were amazing....we ordered an extra order, fried green bean fries were above average, steaks were very good one came out under cooked, cream of mushroom chicken was great, we sampled 3 cakes and all were a hit at our table. Food= 5* and very impressive for Dayton. The service was also superb. One waiter had our 12 top table and everything was on time even though we weren't. He also made great recommendations and apologized for undercooked steaks. Service=5*. The atmosphere was odd to me. A nice restaurant on the river should not have neon shirts hanging, staff in jerseys and old time movies playing on a big screen. Overall a great experience!

Happened upon this place thanks to a Google search for lunch spots and I'm glad we did. It's a great, quaint hometown establishment with great service and delicious food. Between my party of four, we tried the M'sha, Reuben and French Dip sandwiches and all were given great reviews, as were the onion rings and the potato soup. The only thing we weren't too pleased with was the spinach tortellini soup -- if an overwhelming flavor of oregano is your thing, you might enjoy it. Overall, it was a great experience (our server in the bar area was very attentive) and an extremely reasonably priced one. I would definitely recommend it if in the area.

This place makes KILLER sandwiches!!!! My husband and I ordered the Leslie Sandwich and the Cuban. We shared half our sandwiches and they were both AMAZING!!!!! They make their own kettle chips that are pretty amazing! Their desserts are pretty fab too! We didn't have any, but the family we were with had some of the cookies and said they were AWESOME! My daughter got the macaroni and cheese and it was crazy decadent. I'm pretty sure they make it with Alfredo sauce. I'm going to be thinking of those sandwiches for a long time to come!

I discovered this place by searching Google for a place to meet some family for a meal in Dayton. We weren't sure what to expect but it was fantastic, so we've been back a couple times since! Quite a while ago this place changed it's name from Jacob Myers Deli to Jacob Myers Restaurant on the River. While they still have the sandwiches everyone raves about, they have a full menu now including steaks, burgers and seafood! Everyone that I've brought here has raved about the food. I haven't had a bad dish yet! My favorite meal by far is the Black and Blue Steak. It's an 8 oz sirloin with cajun seasoning and served with their black and blue sauce on top. This is so good, I could eat just that and die happy. The steak is a great cut of meat, always cooked exactly how I ask for it, and it tastes oh so good. My mouth is watering right now just thinking about it. It comes with two sides and a dinner roll and if you eat all that, you will be full! If you like seafood, I've really enjoyed the fish and chips. It's very light and crisp. You can't go wrong there. My favorite appetizer is the fried green beans. It comes with their "Boom Boom" sauce, which has a little kick to it. The green beans are battered whole, so they look like french fries. We tried to convince The fiancée's son that they were french fries... but he didn't buy it. We did, however, manage to get him to eat one or two. That's a major feat to get this one to even touch a vegetable! The restaurant is built on a hill, so if you have trouble climbing the hill, get someone to drop you off at the front door. Parking is at a premium near the door. Your best bet is to park in the dirt area at the bottom of the hill. You are overlooking a river here too, so get a table by the window so you can see! This place is always busy, busy, busy! But even though they are super busy the servers are always friendly and helpful with menu questions. They keep your meal well placed and your drinks full, and they do it all with a smile. I have no complaints about the service at all. Being that it's busy, it's also very loud inside. Not much of the noise is restaurant noise, but people talking. I don't know if the place echos or if people just feel the need to talk loud here, but be aware of that. No quiet romantic meals here! I haven't had any of the desserts here, but they have a display case by the hostess stand and they all look so good. I'm just always too full to even think about dessert! Jacob Myers Restaurant is worth the drive from both Chattanooga or Knoxville. You won't be sorry you came here.

Last week I was in town and again dined at the local Jacob Meyer's restaurant. I look forward to eating there. The service is always delightful and the food is extremely tasty, everything, so far, has been great. Last week, I had the piled high chicken and it hit the spot. This was after I accidentally ordered the wrong chicken dish (oops). I meant to order the sandwich my husband had last time, but glad I ordered something equally as good. The fried green bean app was the tastiest I have ever had. My friends/family dine here often and are lucky to have such a good spot near their home. Also, prices are quite reasonable. Also, although the name "deli" is in the name, this is definitely not a typical deli, but rather a sit down, casual restaurant. Not sure what is meant by deli, but oh well.

Over priced, and the food isn't great; it's pretty average fare. Great atmosphere, though.

I wanted to like this place. I didn't. We waited over 45 minutes for a table because the young lady didn't think that someone might wait in the bar for their table even though she is the one that suggested it. When we got a table, the server acted offended that we did not want an appetizer, and continued to push it after two refusals. My husband and I both ordered the Surf and Turf. The shrimp was okay, maybe a little too much pepper. The steak, which was supposed to be Black Angus, was drowned in at least two types of pepper and garlic. My mouth was burning from the second bite. I ordered kettle chips as one of my sides. They were so hard, it hurt to try to eat them. My other side was their version of hush puppies, which were overdone at best. My husband said the best part of the meal was the reheated frozen roll from Sams Club.

I've ate here several times. Not a fan of the lunch menu. But dinner & dessert is wonderful! Haven't tried any of the mixed drinks, but heard they were good. Great restaurant to be in such a small-kinda skanky town lol.

Came here after reading the online reviews. Ordered the food to go. It was a super busy night, but the staff was still uber-friendly. Ordered two burgers and the fried green beans. Bartender was very busy but was very nice. Took about 16 minutes. Crowd noise was loud but could still hear music in background. Music ranged from Irish to classic rock. Restaurant is named after "the pub of a relative in St. Louis." There's probably more to that story but that's all I got from the hostesses when they had a moment to breathe. Non-stop people coming in since I got here. Can't wait to try the food! They have something in the dessert case called 'chocolate thing.' Looks good, but I'm on a hamburger mission tonight for a sick relative. Note-went to 4stars because I specifically said I am here for a hamburger with mustard and that was the most important item on the list. Got back to the hospital and there was no mustard!

Best place in Dayton for lunch or supper.

Great fillet. Try the Oh My Margaretta. The waiters are top notch!! We eat there once a week and have no complaints. I live in Dayton, and have stopped driving to Chattanooga for a steak ever since this place has opened on the river.

This is a place that is worth the drive from Chattanooga or a similar distance for their sandwiches. I can't speak for anything else on the menu but the sandwiches and homemade chips are some of the best I've ever had. I recommend the "Leslie"

I've been here a few times and loved it each time. The homemade chips are awesome! The buffalo wrap is also great. The portion size is good and there is a park you can walk to if you have kids.

Sandwiches were very fresh and tasty. Service excellent, lovely view of the river. We had a very pleasant lunch. Chicken salad sandwich on very fresh bread and excellent potato salad as a side.

Really good place. I'm totally stuck on their Ruben. If you order it, be prepared for an intense experience. Served hot with Crunchy Kraut, tangy dressing and salty corned beef on a powerful marbled rye bread, this is not a sandwich for the meek!
