My wife and I absolutely love this place. Beautiful views and great food. We also make sure to stop by for lunch or dinner when we're in town. I usually get fish tacos whenever I find them on a menu. Decided to try Angelo's take on my favorite dish and was shocked at how good they were. Easily one of the two best variations I've had.

Ordered the seafood diablo. Not quite what I expected. Had a touch of spice to it. We started with a Caesar salad. It was good but swimming in too much dressing. My husband and I split both. The location is nice. The decor isn't bad. A mix of hobby lobby and fishing...

Unfortunately this review is not regarding the food, as despite being hungry we were unable to extend our patience long enough to see any let alone taste it. On entry to the parking lot we were required to pay a $10 parking fee (July 4th fireworks at 9 pm, it was 6pm on July 3rd). Before entering the restaurant we were then required to pay a further $5 per person to drink alcohol. We were seated at our table very efficiently - definitely the outstanding part of the experience. After a couple of minutes our server asked if we would like a drink, I asked what beers they had, our server knew some of them and said they would check, she asked another server who also didn't know the beers they had on tap, so the went to the bar to ask. In the meantime my wife asked if they had the ingredients for a mojito, specifically the mint, apparently they did, so it was ordered. She then came back to inform us they did not have mint, so choose another drink. My wife ordered wine, I ordered some kind of IPA and lemonade for our children. After a couple of minutes 4 drinks showed up for the children as they were in 4 very small plastic cups, or so we thought but no there was a wine and beer in two of them, there was no mint for the mojito That was where the tale ends, we said thanks but no thanks, we did get our money back for the drinking charge and the parking, after some debate. The one star is harsh because we did not try the food, but thoroughly deserved for the experience.

Stopped here on our way to Indiana since other recommended places had shut down... We were one of three tables - nice view and solid food but the kitchen timing was incredibly slow. Calamari appetizer came out pretty quickly and we were completely surprised by the great flavor in the cocktail sauce and the perfectly light and crisp batter - it was excellent! Fish in the tacos were perfectly fried and the slaw was sweet - good flavor - I might have enjoyed more spice. Sandwiches and burgers were enjoyed by all and there wasn't a fry left at the table. There's a children's pizza option not in the menu - a great option for our 8 year old and still had leftovers for the car ride. Our server (who I think was also the bartender) was funny and attentive - did his best to make up for the slow kitchen production. Overall a nice alternative to all the chains off I-40, and worth the detour if you have some time.

Was in town for business and decided to stop here for dinner. Dining room was very open and quiet, probably because it's the off season to be out at the lake. The turn for it is hard to catch in the dark - we missed it at first, but once we got there the food was excellent. I had the fried chicken and mashed potatoes, and the mushroom gravy was delicious. My colleague had fish tacos and she thought they were very good as well.

Best Restaurant in area by long shot. I give it five stars because it is the best thing in 30 miles in all directions (Aubrey's in Strawberry Plains is closest). If you are expecting this to compare to 5 stars in cities like Knoxville- you'll be disappointed. The decor is dated (90s). But outside is nice. Location on Lake Douglass is amazing. Sit outside if you can. So great 3 seasons. But food is very good. Though limited and strangely eclectic menu. Drink specials are good too. But you have to order them at the bar to get them- which is hokie, but so be it.

I've been to the point three times and just had our rehearsal dinner there a few days ago. I have to say that Dino, the man in charge, has had literally the most atrocious communication skills. And that is the only negative part of the experience. He was incredibly difficult to get a hold of and would never return emails. I went to the rehearsal dinner not knowing what the hell was going to happen. With that said, Dino delivered and his staff were really great. They provided exactly what I had asked for. The good was absolutely delicious. Presented well. Plenty of food for everyone. Very reasonably priced. Everyone was raving about how plentiful the food was and how delicious it was. We got their "homemade" desserts and they were absolutely delightful. The scenery at Douglas lake is just amazing. We had the rehearsal in the dining room instead of the outside pavilion. It was late August, so I think that was a great idea. Their AC was on the fritz. I was pissed. But Dino rolled in one of those humongous warehouse fans that was drowned out by the sound of all the guests having a great time. But if the weather was great, I would really consider having the party in the pavilion. If my wife hadn't planned a bazillion people to come to the wedding, I would even consider having the reception in the pavilion at a better time of year. All in all, everything went really well and I would definitely recommend this joint to anyone for any occasion.

I like this place. Not only is it open after the 2pm restaurant curfew (which I made up in my head to explain why the rest of the down town dining closes so early) it has a full bar! The regular hostess is a sweetheart to us, and all of the servers but one have done a very good job. The place is packed, but mostly in the patio and in the bar. Sometimes they get slammed and are hustling. Burgers, steaks, and prime rib are always spot on, even as a special. Good soups and pasta too. My oysters on the half shell were a bit too sandy for my taste. The fish tacos have a good texture, but are too southern in flavoring for the hot western girl. If you need some heat, try the Seafood Diablo, which has good spices. Every thing in the Diablo was perfect, barring the calamari, which was overcooked. I am so glad there is a place close by, where I can sit on the patio, drink a quality margarita, and watch the lake go by. Mmm, patio... *from downtown, cross the bridge, and pull into the restaurant and marina on your immediate left.

We've been coming to The Point for years. The food has always been - and still is - great, and worth every penny. The kitchen puts out fresh, well appointed meals with a nice variety of soups and sides. The French Onion soup is simply to die for. Within the past couple months, there has been a massive change in the wait staff that has made visiting anywhere from mechanical to downright unpleasant. We just sat and waited for over ten minutes for our drink order to be taken, all the while watching several servers socialize and snack in back. When someone finally came to take our order, there was no eye contact and a few sarcastic phrases about our wait. Gone are the long time servers who greeted you with a smile, had your drinks at your table by memory, and played up to your kids to make them feel welcome. They've been replaced by a dispassionate hipster crew that seems more interested in working the outside bar area and socializing in back than actually creating a welcoming environment for the guests inside. As a former waiter and waitstaff trainer at a high end restaurant, I am saddened by the lack of professionalism and high amount of disconnection I'm seeing here now. You're doing a great job at making us not want to come back, guys. Locals are your bread and butter; don't run us off.

I love to boat and find a restaurant like this! Great food drinks service and views! A must try if you are on the water. They have a place to Dock your boat and sit out in their patio.

The food is ok. The service is terrible! We were there two nights ago for a Christmas party. There were 25 of us and they gave us the new server. Poor girl! Our food came out at much different times. Some of us were finished before others got their food. We waited 20 minutes for drinks initially and many of us sat there for 30 minutes or more with empty glasses before they were refilled. The sweet tea tasted like it had been sitting out for several days. Food orders were very wrong and the server argued with us about what we ordered. TERRIBLE service. I won't be going back.

This was our first time here and we used to hear great reviews about this place but not so sure what happened this time around. We Sat outside and it has a beautiful view on the water and such a pretty sunset. however, it took a while for our server to come to us and instead the manager ,who was very intent and seemed like he truly cared about our experience, brought us waters saying he would be over shortly. ok no big deal.Once our server came by he was friendly and nice but wasn't that knowledgeable about the menu and we had to keep asking questions to ask the cooks but took him a while to come back. We ordered beer which took about 10 mins to come out and it was warm and the service seemed a little slow. The food was pretty good, we ordered the grouper sandwich and a pizza and it wasn't expensive either. We might give this place another try but it wouldn't be anytime soon.

This was my third time here. The previous times were each under different ownership. I vowed last time to never come back after how terrible the food was and how expensive on top of it. This experience was much better. Very friendly service, my grouper sandwich was decent. Not Lakeside Tavern by any means but still good. Other food ordered was Salmon and looked good and our guest said it was very good. The seafood was from a farm in Vietnam. We still ordered it though because we wanted seafood at a waterfront restaurant. Duh! ;) Overall it was a good experience and I might be back again.

Went here and arrived one hour before closing, 9PM and they close at 10PM. In all fairness I want that to be known, though with an hour left it should not have been this bad. We were seated outside and served promptly. The waiter took our order and brought out some bread sticks. This is where the problems started. The bread sticks were clearly old, hard and had been sitting out awhile. I can understand not having fresh bread an hour before closing but considering the quality it would have been better not to bring them out or offer an alternative. We both ordered a sandwich, a hamburger and a crab cake burger. The hamburger was ordered medium well and came out burnt. Possibly forgot while they were cleaning up. If it had been "normal" business hours I would have sent it back, but I just ate it. The crab cake burger was very plain and bland. Not horrible but nothing that would be ordered again. I think the biggest thing this place has going for it is a lack of other options. EDIT: Just looked over my receipt. The server said a side substitute would cost me $1 and the other person at my table could make his exchange for free. Both were charged $2.

Recently visited this hidden treasure. For drinkers, the signature Angelos' Martini was flavorful. The Mojitos were shy on the sugar for those purists. Oysters Rockefeller were creamy and not overcooked. Fried mushrooms were a hit with both adults and kids. Mozzarella logs came four to a plate and were tasty. Appetizers and drinks came out quickly while you were allowed ample time to enjoy the beautiful lake scenery before entrees were delivered. Prime rib and sirloin were cooked perfectly with ample sides. The restaurant offers inside and outdoor seating. The Tilapia Imperial was light and creamy. The Maryland Crab Cakes tasted fresh and authentic. Tilapia New Orleans had a nice Cajun sauce - all flavor with no spicy heat. Crispy Asian Shrimp came in a spicy sweet sauce that brought the heat to this refreshing dish. Desserts are made from scratch and taste it. The Tiramisu and New York Style Cheesecake were delightful. The Peanut Butter Pie was an over-sized peanut butter cup with a Oreo cookie crust and a peanut mousse top. Prices were on the low side which was a bonus. The website has the menu if you want to see the offerings. Service was pleasant and slightly above par on speed for Tennessee. Sorry to be subjective but as a New Yorker, waiting 10 minutes for a glass of water is slow for me.
