You're probably here because for the last 20 miles, you've been seeing signs for the outlet mall. And then when you get off the highway, you're not wanting fast food. Well, welcome to Genesis. Not a chain, not a franchise, this is a one off local business and it's great. You're gonna love it. We were hungry, but not "appetizer" hungry. Feeling like I'd like to enjoy an Italian classic, I chose the spaghetti and meatballs. Thick rich sauce, really tasty meatballs with plenty of garlic. The spaghetti was maybe a little overdone but still excellent. My wife wanted the seafood cannelloni but they were out of that. Our waitress recommended the lobster ravioli instead. Probably just as good, I was pleased that there was enough for me to try. And three of those raviolis went into a box to go with us. Oops. Dessert. After a meal like this, how could we say no? Tiramisu, please. It was awesome. Really good stuff. An excellent meal, supporting a local business. Really great!

Warm soft bread as soon as they seat you. Sweet iced tea in the RIGHT sized glass (if you love tea you'll see what I mean). Italian combo was cheesy, and needed some peppers and onions maybe. Sausage and pepper dish was good, plenty of food and good flavor. Peppers and fettuccini was cooked perfectly.

The best Italian food around the area, easily. The staff are polite, respectful, and quick to respond to your needs. The food is, as always, amazing and seasoned to perfection, especially if you enjoy a bowl of spaghetti. There's no other place like it, especially in Louisville, where I reside now. Whenever I make my way to Crossville, Genesis is the first place I want to go for delightful atmosphere and tastes that will send your senses and taste buds to heaven.

Good food. The sauce is homemade and so where the meatballs came on Monday happens to be all you can eat spaghetti and meatballs. Everything was good noodles seemed like the only thing not made in house. For 7.99 I would definitely come back. I have heard the lasagna is amazing and huge portion. Will definitely come back next time I am in town on business.

I understand that local expectations vary from place to place so as we were in Crossville for business, I looked at Yelp to find a good place to eat. I usually love hole-in-wall Italian restaurants and Genesis had decent reviews so we decided to try it. I didn't mind the strip mall location and didn't mind the campy decor. But the food did not live up to its cost. I got chicken cannelloni, which actually was ravioli - but that was not mentioned in either the menu or by the waitress. (Cannelloni is more of a round tube, not flat, filled noodles.) The chicken was rather gristly and the sauce didn't have much flavor. The pasta was a bit overcooked and mushy. My husband had the shrimp with red sauce on fettuccine. There were a few shrimp, overcooked, and lots of pasta. Since it was the same red sauce it, too, was bland. The Italian bread and olive oil were wonderful and we ate that quickly. My side salad was iceberg lettuce with a few olive slices. I also got a large lettuce core in mine, which took up a big part of the bowl. The waitress was young so I will not criticize her, but I prefer not to have to track down a waitress to ask for drink refills each time. The restaurant has signs everywhere - "DO NOT SMOKE IN RESTAURANT! $500 FINE!", and others all over the inside of the bathrooms including the usual flushing warnings and one on the door I have not seen before, "WASH YOUR HANDS 2 TIMES TO AVOID GERMS!" These are all handwritten on white paper and they kind of detract from a relaxing atmosphere. The restaurant does not serve alcohol but allows you to BYOB for a corking fee. I just did not see that online - though I'm sure I overlooked it - and was caught off guard. So be prepared with your own bottle. Overall, I would not choose Genesis again. But it does not appear that there are a lot of options in Crossville!

We had a lot of different entrees including spaghetti and meatballs, cheese ravioli, sausage pepper fettuccine and lobster ravioli. The bread and olive oil as an appetizer was great. Cheese ravioli was probably the best entrée. Of course there was still room for dessert. Tiramisu, spumoni and cannoli all were amazing and were the best part of the meal. Better than other Italian restaurants we've eaten- spot on!! Only reason we didn't give it 5 stars was pasta was a little over cooked and tomato sauce needed a little more flavor. Recent health score 100% and you don't always see a lot of restaurants with a perfect score.

When I find an Italian place off the beaten path, this highly reviewed (albeit the number of reviews were small) I expected much more than what the experience delivered. Happened to be all you could eat Spaghetti and meatball night when I was there. The sauce and meatballs tasted homemade....the noodles were obviously not... the bread was fantastic.... the décor is awful..... (1970's house unkept) not as clean as I would have liked. Dust from fans, paper table clothes, and paper napkins... if I lived in the area this would be a "one and done" for me.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
