Newk's is a great cafe/deli in the Cordova area. They have fresh salads, sandwiches, pizzas and desserts. My favorite is the Newks' Favorite salad, it is huge and I usually share it. It has mixed greens, grilled chicken breast, gorgonzola cheese, dried cranberries, grapes, artichoke hearts, pecans and croutons. I have also tried the chicken salad which is great and their french bread is fresh and crunchy. They have a small outdoor patio and the inside is big. The kids love to sit in the big corner booths. The restaurant is always clean and the staff is friendly. I love the big plastic cups for the drinks. I know sounds strange but they are great and sturdy and make it easy to take a refill with you to go! Their cakes are also great, I'm a fan of the caramel and red velvet. It is priced a little more than some delis but the quality is definitely good. I usually come here by myself or with a friend vs bringing the whole family as it can get a little expensive when you have a big family.

I crave their chicken salad sandwich! Honestly, I have never really tasted anything at Newk's that was not great...chicken tortilla soup, chicken dumplings, margheritta pizza (2nd fave). They have a wonderful private room that I have utilized for small groups (around 20) and there has never been a charge as long as you are ordering food. First place that I have seen that offers sweet tea made with Splenda...gotta dig that! A little on the expensive side for soups, salads and sandwiches though but obviously I think it is worth it.

By far my favorite lunch and light dinner place in town. It's not that expensive, and serves the best sandwiches, soup, salads, and pizzas. I find plenty of vegetarian meals, though there are plenty of meat based options as well. As good as it gets.

Great Yuppie atmosphere - a bit loud as is the trend with new restaurants, but the food is pretty good. Overpriced, but good and consistent. I only go here occasionally as I don't like paying that much for lunch, and I don't see this as a dinner spot. Fun place to meet friends, though.

Pizza was so oily/greasy it could not be eaten. Ham sandwich was ordered plain but had everything on it so my son would not eat it. Threw away $37 for 2 sandwiches 1 soup and a personal pizza. Would not give them one star. This was a pick up order

Say what you will about how pricey Newk's is, I would gladly pay twice the amount for one of their chicken salad sandwiches any day of the week. I have been on a quest for a year and a half now to find the best chicken salad in Memphis. I had almost given up. Then the chicken salad gods decided to shine down upon my decision making skills, and drive my car into the parking lot of Newk's. Heaven. Oh freaking heaven. I don't know what all is in it aside from nuts, thinly sliced grapes, chicken and mayo- but whatever those ingredients may be please don't ever change them! When they place that chicken salad between the crusty, warm, baguette bread something magical happens. Anytime we are out on Germantown Parkway I will beg my husband to take me there for chicken salad and broccoli cheese soup. Yes, I haven't yet gotten a chance to rave on this liquid gold in a bowl. Huge chunks of tender broccoli and thick, creamy, cheesy broth- only made better by the all you can eat jug-o-homemade-croutons I can dump on top to float in my hot delicious goodness.. This soup is to die for. It never fails that I forget which day is broccoli cheese day (yes Newk's is one of those places that has different soup choice days) and my mouth gets all happy at the idea of broccoli cheese and chicken salad sandwiches only to find out we have to settle on chicken tortilla or potato. Obviously these are not in the same ballpark as my broccoli cheese. I've never tried anything else on the menu. There's no reason to now that I've tried these two things. I have a vague memory of what my husband eats, but really I am making love to my chicken salad and broccoli cheese soup, so I could care less how his dining experience is while we are there. Yes, the ordering situation is kind of odd. The register is next to the door, and the menu is next to the register. There really is no room to see what you can choose from. My advice is to grow a pair and walk up to the front of the line for a to-go menu so you can peruse that while waiting. You can thank me later.

Similar to cafe express and Jason's deli. I enjoyed the laid back service and food was pretty good. I had the newk's original salad and broccoli cheese soup. Nothing to complain about. Sweet tea, expedient food service and overall taste were on point. It would be helpful if there were a few more food option, but this place is similar to deli style cafe, so their options were moderate. Overall I would eat here for lunch or light bites again.

Newk's is one of my favorite places to eat. Ya gotta try the pimento cheese and bacon Mac and cheese! It's wonderful and can be a meal or a side. Potions are generous so come hungry or take half home for lunch the next day. The atmosphere is a bit trendy, but after the food came we forget all about that !

I love newks, absolutely LOVE them. However, this time my chef salad had a very bitter taste all the way through it. I suspect one of the lettuce batches had gone a little funky. That being said, I would not let that deter me from eating at Newks. We eat at another location about once a week, if not more.

The guys in my department love coming to Newk's. Their mountainous salads and soup-half-sandwich combos are their healthy excuses to engorge. One of them always orders pizzas and kept bugging me to try one. So, one day, I relented and ordered the Newk's "Q". Bacon...the gateway meat. Dang, there is bacon all over this yummy thing, along with chicken, appropriately-spaced jalapenos, a delicious sauce of undisclosed ingredients, and tomatoes (which I can live without). In my opinion, this is Cali Pizza Kitchen's BBQ Chicken pie on steroids. I wolfed a "Q" down yesterday and had to go back again today to make sure it wasn't just my imagination. The pizza arrived piping hot, and I was only a couple of degrees each bite from scalding the roof of my mouth. Didn't bother me. I motored through the whole thing in about 8 minutes. At $11.19 with drink, it was a terrific investment for a lunch hour. The Newk's "Q" is off-menu. You have to request it. I was encouraged by my cashier to contact "headquarters" and ask that it be added. She said if enough people did so, they'll add it. My email-writing campaign is underway.

Same folks that did McCalister's BUT WAY BETTER!!! I have eaten here seriously over 100 times - well eaten or ran through and grabbed a slice of cake or cup of tea!! I have had everything from a sandwich, a salad, pizza and soup (also had them cater office luncheons) from here and have never, EVER ever had a bad experience. Rather dining in, calling in to-go order or walking in and grabbing from their "Grab n-Go" station - the product is always solid - and I am always happy. Everything is made to order - and from scratch. They make their own salad dressings (I could drink them all), their own croutons - slice their own meat and whip up the fresh chicken salad. Best salad ever is the Newk's Favorite and my husband loves the Newk's Q sandwich and pizza with their delicious "White BBQ Sauce". The portions here are HUGE so I never mind paying $10 for a salad. Their cakes are baked from their bake shop in Oxford MS - they used to use another bake shop there which was better but now they do it themselves with what appears to be new recipes...the caramel cake was better before. ***Insider's tip: keep your cup and take it back for 79 cent refills****

Newk's is another casual dining cafe. The menu, however, is unique and appealing to a variety of likes. I think the Shrimp Po'boy is a mainstay for me. I have them put the pickles on the side and get a drink and side of pasta salad. The sandwich is delicious. I'm addicted. I also like that they give you the big plastic cup to take home. For a single guy, things like that are important for whatever reason. Newk's is probably the best casual dining cafe I've come across. The down home, friendly service is great. And when you become a regular, you find that these aren't just teens here today and gone tomorrow. The staff remembers me and knows just about my entire order from memory. Service is fast and with a smile. These folks do a great job of serving you and then staying out of your way. And for the record, the restrooms are ALWAYS clean.

Nice layout and friendly staff. My two favorites are the pimento cheese sandwich and the pepperoni and sausage pizza. Yes, the pizza's are great and come out as quick as the sandwiches. Not fan of the slaw, but I have a preference for a little mustard in my slaw. Fruit cup is always fresh with a seasonal variety.
