Polite employees, delicious chicken, ( I like how you have the option of getting half of your chicken grilled and the other half fried.) really tasty dipping sauces, and very sanitary. I'm always full when I leave this place, and I always find myself coming back here again and again.

Am I missing something here? I don't think this place is anything special. Their big speciality is chicken tenders but I think they're pretty bland. The choice of dipping sauces frankly isn't that different than any place else, whether it's McDonald's or Zaxby's. Also, the price of the food is reminiscent of a sit-down place, but it's still fast food. Definitely not worth the price paid.

I have been going to Abners for a long time. Having both of your older sisters working there one after the other does that to you. The family discounts were nice and the crew were really friendly. :) Recently I found myself back at Abners, not having been there since my sister left the job about 2 years ago. I was greeted with the same friendly service and 'sportsy' them. I decided on having the Spicy Buffalo Wrap since I already knew that the tenders were decent enough to live up to the reputation. I asked for it extra hot (heck they even put the hot wing sauce on it!), but it didn't 'wow' me. It was good at first with that instant kick of hotness but died out before I could really savor it. The chicken itself was nice though (grilled-not fried) but the flour wrap was almost 'chewy' and was a challenge to tear apart. If I had to rate it solely of my meal it would have been lower but I love the chicken tenders and fries, not to mention the glorious Abners sauce they have. If you are a chicken and sauce kind of guy/lady you will love the wide variety of sauces they have. Overall, friendly atmosphere, good service, nice tenders and amazing sauce, a little dirty and definitely not a place to find hot wings.

I was starving when I left Gould's Salon. I ordered a Greek Salad and chicken strips with skin on steak fries. The salad was for dinner and it was great. Full of kalamata, green olives and tomatoes and a decent portion. I even liked the vinaigrette! Although I don't normally eat fries these tasted like a baked potato. Quite flavorful! Since I am a huge fan of Gus's Chicken I wanted to see how their tenders compared. They have a less crunchy batter which is more like KFC. They specialize in tenders so don't go looking for fish or a hamburger. So I'm sticking w Gus's for chicken but plan in picking up salads weekly! They offer quite a few choices in 10" round carry out containers. A new go to place. Decor is concrete floors, plain tables and chairs, TV and sports posters. Everything is clean unlike most fast food locations. They are also very friendly and efficient.

Savory tender and juicy! Im loving the grilled chicken. I'm adding Abner's to my list of fast food joints I can admit to enjoying. Today I ordered 7 grilled tenders to share with my best buddy along with a sampling of dipping sauces. The buffalo sauce was not what I expected, but it ended up being my favorite. It's creamy like salad dressing but with buffalo sauce kinda kick. If you like hot wings, I recommend you try this sauce. The service we received today was above expectations. Our order was ready with surprising speed. TIP: The drive-through is for call ahead orders only.

My wife and I were hungry after working out and we were headed toward our favorite super market to shop. But we needed to eat and found Abners. We had a chicken tenders Wrap with fries. Wow! It was real good!! Also, their fries were fresh and hot equalling super !!

Very simple and very good. Much healthier in my opinion than many other fast foods. However some pieces were burnt and a little dry while others were very good. I'm not a big fan of the abner sauce because its a bit too creamy for me. Overall, good experience as well as the food.

Always serving fresh, hot chicken tenders. If you are looking for an alternative to the normal breaded and fried tenders, Abner's grilled tenders are delicious. They offer a variety of dipping sauces, but I prefer the Abner's original sauce, even for my fries! I also recently tried the spicy Buffalo wrap and it may be my new favorite menu item!

This was a decent place -- we went here for lunch when my family was in town and wanted to find an inexpensive joint to feed our entire party -- about six people. Instead of having their chicken tenders that they boast about, I went for the Greek salad, and it was very good, surprisingly, as the place isn't a Greek restaurant, so I didn't expect much. Really, pretty good. The overall consensus, 'pretty good'.

Admittedly, these are probably the best tenders I have had in Memphis; but questionable service and cleanliness leaves much to be desired here. Food: I love a good chicken wing or chicken finger. In fact, I profess that the best chicken finger you will ever have (buffalo or plain) is at Tully's Good Times in the Upstate NY region. That sets the standard for me. Abner's comes close with a pretty tasty chicken tender, but the lack of seasoning and a wildly varying quality of breading is what does it in. Typically the tenders are cooked well and stay nice and moist, but the breading has been crispy, sort-of crispy, and soggy. I can't seem to get a consistent breading. The fries are always very good, and I have never had an issue with them not being crispy or hot. The wings are also very good. The Buffalo sauce is excellent, they serve Ken's Bleu Cheese alongside it (excellent choice), and they are typically nice and crispy. In terms of food, they have above average food. Food: 4 / 5 Service: I seem to always get a snotty, blonde-haired bitc -- er, um, I mean rude lady at the counter. I don't know if somehow my cosmic calendar is just in-sync with Abner's scheduling of their least personable cashiers, or if maybe that is the only type of person that works there? Regardless, I have always taken an issue with their attitude. If I feel like I am inconveniencing you, then you are performing your service-industry job incorrectly. I literally feel as if they do not want me there. From the moment the door opens, to the moment I leave. Maybe they need to be re-trained an understand that without customers, they do not have a job? Service: 2 / 5 Atmosphere: Outside of the pretentious, annoyed service that I have always received at Abner's, the restaurant is usually pretty clean. Though, sometimes finding a table that doesn't have hot sauce on it, crumbs, or other leftover food can be challenging. If you do manage to do so, typically the floor has napkins, straw wrappers, and other leftover paper products from previous guests. I used the restrooms once, and they seemed to be passable. My assumption is, that the same people who I complained about above, feel like they may be 'too good to clean-up after people', so they put it off for as long as they can. Maybe I am reaching a bit though? Atmosphere: 2 / 5 Price: For the price, I feel like I get a good value. The food is always good, despite some breading issues with the tenders. Everything has always come out hot -- with exception to the soggy tenders I received once. I always walk-away feeling like I had good food at a good price. Now, they just need to hire some friendlier people, and I might come more often. Price: 4 / 5 Final Thoughts: I literally can't think of a better place in Memphis to get tenders. In terms of wings, Flying Sauce (right down the street) may have the best wings in Memphis. Amazing...I digress though. If you don't mind the trade-off of good food for crap service, then this may be a great place for you to go. Personally, I can only go there when I feel up-to dealing with their uniquely off-putting attitude problems.

I work at a business that has catered lunches frequently provided by outside Reps. Often times they let us know ahead of time but on occassion they just send food and show up later. Well today I received a call from the desk saying our lunch was here. I sent an employee out to get the gentleman and she brought him to our department and set up the food with him. He left an envelope with the receipt (which we in turn give to the rep). The staff began eating lunch. About a half hour later I receive a call from another department asking if we had received a delivery. I said yes, she informed me that was supposed to be delivered to her department. I explained we had already eaten it. When she arrived in my department we called the store. I spoke to a manager who said she couldn't help me I would need to call the owner Mr. Carl Kuluz who actually did the delivery. We called him and informed him he delivered to the wrong department and needed to redo the order and redeliver it. After some discussion he finally agreed to do this with no further charges. About an hour later I receive a call from Mr. Kuluz. He asks if we received a food delivery today, I said yes we did. He asked did you eat it, i said yes we did. Hethen says well did you enjoy it because that food was not yours. I explained we had no way of knowing this as we receive food deliveries often provided by product reps and we don't always know ahead of time. He said well I had to redo that order because you ate it, I hope you enjoyed it and hung up. This man is rude and totally unprofessional. The receipt had the orderers phone number on it and her phone number. He could have called her if he wasn't sure where to delivery. He delivered it to the wrong place. Why would he call and give me a hard time. Well Mr. kuluz you just ensured I will never step food in your store and I will make sure all 1000 people on my boyfriends and my facebook know how unprofessional you are. As well make sure our reps that provide us with lunch know not to deal with you or your business.

The chicken tenders were really chewy for some reason. Perhaps they were freezer-burnt? In other reviews I saw that this place is kind of hit and miss. There seemed to be plenty of people and we got a great deal of food for the price. I would try it again sometime in case I just got a bad batch.

I came in here about a week ago with the girlfriend to grab a quick bite to eat and was very pleased with the ambiance upon walking in. It was a very clean environment with sports memorabilia all around the facility; it seemed to be exceptionally SEC heavy. This definitely helps the establishment. We ordered the chicken tenders and loaded baked potato meal with a soda which came out to be about $12; quite high for an establishment of this caliber imo (it seems to be more of a fast food place than a full blown restaurant). We got out food and the portion was filling, and the food itself was pretty good, but definitely have had better within the city of Memphis at better prices. I can see why this establishment is successful and the experience was not necessarily bad, but it didn't have a strong enough impression to make me a frequent customer of this establishment.

Better than average fast food. I get the grilled tenders and they're not bad. They're more tender some days than others, and the amount of searing on the outside varies too. The Texas toast is also variable; the best one I had was browned on both sides, but usually it's only browned on one. I do wish they'd give you sturdier plastic utensils. The baked potatoes are large, not those tiny things that Wendy's serves. Service is very good.
