It's nice to see high quality in a quaint small town.

taiko has a very interesting menu. their sushi is diverse and creative, though sometimes pairs don't feel cohesive, or, at least, seem to have more fish than taste-complimentary ingredients. that said, the sushi was good, the miso fantastic, and more importantly the rice bowl dishes were something ive very rarely seen in tennessee. the tofu in my dish was astonishingly well cooked, and the curry savory but deliciously sweet. my service was great, and im only saving that last star for minor issues-ambience, etc. id recommend it, especially comparative to the other options in the area!

Great food, good variety of sushi rolls Set in a brick wall loft style space Nice decor Easy parking

Disappointing. Roll told different types of fish. I was basically given a mayonnaise roll. Sashimi on menu said 6-7 pieces, I received 5 flat, oddly shaped pieces. The fish did not taste fresh and the menu didn't really say what I would get. Not impressed at all.

One word: BUGS. Seriously. We were there 2 months ago (I've was debating writing this review...) and sat by the front window. While a very nice view of the rails, I happened to see a bug on the window. Not a problem... 1 bug, whatever. Then I looked down by my feed and saw a few more... (didn't necessarily look like the typical roaches). As someone a bit terrified of insects, I asked the waitress what it was (cause, uh, yeah, I started to freak out), she didn't know, but still squished it under her shoe... Unfortunately, much like those magic eye pictures, by her foot more squished bugs came into focus. Granted, we were by the door, and my back was to a potted plant. But if this is the way the front of the restaurant looks, would hate to see the kitchens! We hightailed it out of there and ended up at a different place around the corner.

First of all, the waitress was really rude. I asked for sweet tea and it was some kind of fruit tea that I didn't like so I asked for coke. I had to pay for two drinks (no big deal but annoying). Then I got my food, it was absolutely awful. It tasted like a frozen dinner that had been microwaved. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone.

4 stars on the Cookeville scale - meaning there is nothing comparable, which elevates the status of this restaurant. For Cookeville, this is great food, but more importantly, if this place was somewhere more populous, it could still hold its own. The menu is varied and includes Chinese, Vietnamese, Japanese and Thai elements. There are teas, rolls, noodle dishes, rice dishes, soups, salads and desserts. The gyoza was decent and the sauce was authentic. Likewise, the shrimp udon was acceptable and came with three tempura shrimp. The service was good; unobtrusive and timely. I will keep this place on my short list of Cookeville eateries.

Well I have to say I'm pretty shocked by this place. I sat down and my server promptly came over and took my drink order. When she came back to take my order I asked two rolls and one hand roll. I asked for tuna, avocado and cream cheese. She politely asked me which number was that on the menu. I replied that I didn't see it. Her response was kind of whacky, she said, "Oh, well we don't make personalized rolls, you'll have to order from the menu." I said that was pretty weird, to which she replied, "Well, we're kind of weird here." So I said I didn't need to order anything and I was leaving. She was blown away that I left. WTF, if you make the rolls on site and have all of the ingredients, just freakin make the roll. So now I am at Fuji on Jefferson. Eating my "personalized" rolls, which are great. I guess they wanted my $20 some dollar order on a slow night more than this place.

While visiting TTU and apartment searching I saw this place driving by and went back for lunch. I ordered 2 rolls (Max and Dynamite) and a side of kimchi. They're kimchi is awesome, spicy, and tangy. I've only ever had homemade kimchi and this was a pretty close comparison. The sushi was great as well. It was very fresh, flavorful, and new. They have a bunch of different classic and house special rolls. Once I move to Cookeville this summer I will definitely be a regular. As for wait staff, they were timely, but didn't come off as very outgoing or interested in serving you. I like it when wait staff are outgoing, friendly, gives suggestions, and is genuinely wanting to help and serve you.

Good food. Had the Cookeville roll. Got food 5 minutes before utensils. Little bit of a let down there. But with better service, I'd give it a four at least.

I went to Taiko sushi bar for lunch, I had heard this was a good place to get sushi in town so I was looking forward to checking this place out. This place is amazing. A large verity of food to choose from. Everything from your basic sushi all the way up to every roll you could imagine in one place. I was very happy with my lunch experience and since have made it a regular lunch stop. Nice people , Nice atmosphere , Great food.

Very good sushi!! You'd never expect to get sushi this good in a small town like Cookeville. Truley a diamond in the rough, this sushi bar in Cookeville. Prices are great, Food is well above average, and they are amazingly consistent! Great place to take friends from out of town to show a good time. Get the hot Sake, and order 4-5 rolls and some nigiri.. Get the Cookeville roll!!!!

I've had better sushi before. Waiter took forever to even get our drinks. Not worth the price

This place is amazing for Tennessee. Some of the best sushi I've had outside of LA or NYC!
(5)Jason H.
The sishi wasn't bad for what i would expect to get in Tennessee and the service was adequate however, the noodles I found to be sub par.

Taiko has great food in a great location with a unique atmosphere. One of the best choices for sushi in the Cookeville area, if not the best choice. The food is categorized as Japanese-style with a Thai influence.

It's OK. Not much in raw rolls. They were out of several rolls including their promo Shamrock roll. Had the Cookeville roll and another. Nothing special here. Service was adequate. Ambience nice. Ladies room clean and supplied. It's not what you get at Nobus in California.....
