Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

This was an okay restaurant. Very quiet and great music. The house salad was like a typical "bag" iceberg salad mix with a few added tomatoes and green olives (caution, they had pits in them!). The lasagna was a good portion for the money (could have shared with hubby and it would have been plenty). However, it was cold in the center. Great garlic bread. The waitress wasn't very friendly, but she may have just been having an off night. Most of the people in there were ordering pizza, which was quite large. So, I guess this is the place to go for a pizza.

Stopped by to try out Mama Rosa. Big helpings. I had spaghetti with meatballs. Sauce needed seasoning. It had a bland tomato taste. After some salt and pepper it was better. My friends had ziti and they said the sauce was bad. No flavor. Two persons had the pizza and said it was good. Service was slow. And the place is clean. We may try it again if we are in town.

I love the pizza there. I always end up with a box to take home. Pepperoni and mushrooms are my favorite toppings. Good atmosphere.

The pizza is wonderful. There, I said it. Now then, I went there for lunch and just got half a sub and some salad. But it was pretty good. I enjoyed the salad (though it was a bit too average for the price). And the sub was nice, but I had a hard time finding the condiments I asked for on it, and ended up needing to add a good bit of salt and pepper. However, I give this 4 stars for the pizza. Go for that. (otherwise I would have given 3. For average.) The service is nothing to brag about. Nor is the price.

I wish there was a way to rate less than one star for Mama Rosa's. I dine out frequently and enjoy Italian cuisine; however, I will honestly have to say this was the worst dining experience I have encountered. From the moment walking into the restaurant where I had to wait 10 minutes to be seated for no obvious reason (not busy), to when the "hostess" rudely put a stack of menus and silverware on the table and walked away without saying a word, and when the disgusting food was put on the dirty table that I was sitting at. I ordered an appetizer of the garlic bread for $3.00. What a joke this was! How hard is it to make garlic bread? Apparently for the people at Mama Rosa's, it is too hard. The bread was soggy and tasted like it was frozen at some point and had freezer burn. I ordered the Eggplant Parmesan with a side of spaghetti. What I got was a hot mess. The eggplant was over cooked, and there was more breading than eggplant. The side of spaghetti that I ordered must have been flavored with some Palmolive or Dawn soap. I ordered a coke to drink and guess what!? Yep, that was flat too. I hope the owner of this poorly run establishment reads these reviews and can learn something from constructive feedback. Maybe the complaint I will be making to the health department on Monday morning will help your establishment. It is very unsanitary to allow customers in the kitchen area where the food is being prepped. If I was the owner of Mama Rosa's I would be embarrassed and ashamed... Luckily, I live in Nashville and we have great locally owned Italian restaurants. Mama Rosa's would never stand a chance outside of Cookeville, TN. I would not recommend this restaurant to my worst enemy.

This is a really great restaurant. The cheese bread is a great appetizer and the pizza is amazing. The only con is that they seem to be a bit understaffed.

Good if you like cheap ingredients and spending quality time with your commode afterward.

Mama Rosa's is a good Italian restaurant. I have always enjoed the food there. Their marinara is hard to describe. It somehow manages to be tart, savory, and sweet all at once. I love it!

I have been enjoying Mamma Rosa's for all of my adult life and never imagined I would ever have an experience like tonight. My wife was at home with our week old baby and didn't feel like going out for her birthday so she chose to get carry out. The order was called in at 5:30 and I was told it would take 30-40 minutes. I showed up with my hungry three year old at 6:10 and was told it would be a few minutes so I paid and sat down. After 20 more minutes I asked about the order and was told that a stromboli on my order was sent out to a table and had to be cooked again. My concern was the food that had been ready for over half an hour sitting on the oven (I was told that is where it was being kept). So I spoke to a manager and was beginning to get upset. He offered a discount on my food but I refused. Not everything is about money. An hour and five minutes into the order, my food was ready and placed on the counter. I asked the employee behind the counter if she could help me out to the car and she looked at me as if I were a mythical creature with horns. She said one of the bags was really light and suggested my three year old help carry it out. I took my food and managed to get out to the car without my child getting hit by a car. She did chase after me with the salad they forgot to place on the counter. Guess she earned the 12% tip on the to go order. I get home and plate the food for the family and the stromboli is raw. The ends were crisp, but raw dough was barely holding the ingredients together. It was not safe to eat. They had an hour and five minutes and couldn't get it right. The lasagna and eggplant that had set in the oven was reported as good but I think that was because my family didn't want me to be any more mad. The only thing that could make me happy with Mamma Rosa's at this point would be if they delivered a meal to my home from any other restaurant in town.

Real disappointing tonight, especially when getting pizza for take out to bring home to dinner guests. I called in an order for pick up and got hung up on as I was on hold. It took 8 calls back before the phone was off busy. I proceeded with my pick up order--Sicilian style cheese pizza (square & thick to try) and 2 Neapolitan pizzas (round & thin). The cheese was $14.00 & the 3 topping Neapolitans were $18.50. Our wait would be 45 minutes. My husband and guest drove to pick it up and were told that it would be an additional 15 minutes. And once the pizzas were finally in hand, they brought them back home. The thick, square pizza was a good 1" thick (way too much dough). The sauce was uneven and the cheese drained to the middle pieces. (I posted a picture of the actual pizza in the box to prove that). And for a $14 cheese pizza, the cheese appeared skimpy (especially on the outer squares). The round pizza seemed the better choice. Ordering pizza for pick up next time, I believe I'll go with Little Cesar's Pizza if I want doughy stuff, but the thin there is good because of the crust. Big letdown tonight for the price and embarrassment. PROS: locally owned, hand tossed CONS: inaccurate time, thick wasn't balanced with the distribution of cheese & sauce, pricey
