I love BCB....I love the make it your way style and one of my favorites here is the veggie burrito! Grilled onions, peppers and mushrooms with all the toppings please! They have several salsa choices too and my favorite there is the pineapple salsa...sweat with a bite to it :) Good chips as well when you get the combo meal! Quick and easy and always friendly staff.

I've never been a fan of grilled burrito places, and Blue Coast was no different. You order one of their oversized burritos and you take a bite and you get a giant mouth full of sour cream, next bite rice, then maybe chicken. The things are wrapped in such a way, the toppings never seem to evenly mixed. Included with your meal is side of over priced nachos and a drink. They have some tasty free salsas including pineapple, and the fruit tea is really great too. But, I was never a fan of this place until recently. Then one day it dawned on me, if I hate the burritos so much, and am not impressed by the side of nachos. Why not kill two birds with one stone and try the loaded nachos? As dumb as it sounds, this idea has changed my feelings on this place a complete 180. The loaded nachos are so big, you have to eat them with a fork. Now I'm in charge of making sure the toppings are even to my liking, and added to the nacho is queso dip that's to die for. Since I found a new love for Blue Coast, I have gone on to try their quesadillas, which have the toppings more evenly spread out, plus the tomatoes, lettuce, and sour cream come on the side. I recommend the extra fifty cents to have the queso added, and the chipotle tortilla that really gives it an extra kick. Four stars.

$6 Thursday night burrito special is a winner. Flavor is good, service is also very good. I would recommend

Baja fish tacos. Double corn tortillas. Tin foil. Cool but fish hot. Strange mix of hot and cold food in the same bite. Would have preferred more on the warm to hot side. CLEANLINESS: spotless STAFF: nice, nice, nice VARIETY: good QUALITY: fresh is always better MUST TRY: free salsa bar, quesadilla, nachos

This is one of the better Blue Coast Burrito Restaurants. Although, none of them compare to Baja Burrito, the grandfather of this Cali-Mex Franchise. I had the taco salad with steak, black beans, salsa and most of the veggies. The tomatillo vinaigrette dressing was also pretty good, but not as tasty as the original at Baja. What made this store better than the other BCBs? Very Friendly employees and it was Super Clean, including the bathrooms. (Yes, I check the bathrooms! I believe that if you want to know the cleanliness of the kitchen at a restaurant, check the bathrooms) The employees were very helpful and super friendly. One of the employees stopped by our table twice to check on us and then offered to bus our trays! Unbelievable at a semi-fast food restaurant. Conveniently located for travelers, right off the main exit in Cookeville, in front of the old Mall. If you can't have the original Baja in your backyard, this BCB is a pretty good runner up!

I had a taco salad with chicken. It was tasty and nicely portioned. The staff was friendly and patient while I had no idea what to put on top of my salad. The sweet tea is fabulous. The pineapple salsa is foodgasmic. I literally wanted to take the whole tub of salsa with me. Haha.

In a land littered with chains that offer cafeteria style burritos, this place is similar yet stands out in certain categories. If you've been to a Moe's, Salsarita's, Chipotle or a Barbarito's expect the same kind of options. Meanwhile, while the concept is identical at all these chains, we noticed a few differences. 1. The ingredients seemed fresher here (by this we are referring to the cheeses, veggies, etc). 2. The guacamole didn't taste like it came out of a package, like it does as the above mentioned places. This huac tasted homemade. It actually had chunks of avocado in it. It definitely didn't come out of squirt gun like at Taco Bell. 3. Their salsa bar was well above average. More important there were enough options for everyones tastes and once again, that homemade theme stood tall. You'll notice a difference here. 4. Baja Fruit Tea: in addition to sweet tea they offer a Baja Fruit Tea which is sweet tea mixed with a bunch of different fruits. My buddy drank sit or eight glasses. It can be a nice retreat from regular sweet tea many of us consume daily. In closing, don't expect a unique experience here. The concept will be familiar, yet many of the flavors you taste won't. Those that won't are because you aren't used to fresh ingredients, which are the rule here.

As far as Blue Coast Burito stores go, this place is a 10/10. The man who took my order went so far as to go in the back and check packaging on the chips to see if they were GMO. I mentioned I was "low gluten" in my diet, and he busted out special utensils and covered condiments for me like it was a kosher kitchen! Not to mention that when I noted he may be too good for the service industry, he said he was in law school... My salad was great, the salsa bar and drink area were clean, the store fresh and light. I have no other notes, other than one of the bathroom stalls was teeny tiny. Both of my kids enjoyed their quesadillas thoroughly, and loved procuring their own salsa in tiny cups.

Hubby and I decided to finally stop in yesterday to give this place a try. I love the idea of fresh, healthy, "fast food" mexican food, but the price we both agreed was WAY too much. I mean 2 burritos and 2 drinks $20 that's ridiculous. I could make my own fresh, healthy, "fast food" mexican food for a whole lot less and I bet it would be even healthier! I guess if you are in a pinch and need a Mexican food fix quick then give it a try, but be aware of sticker shock!

Hey this mexican restaurant is great. Ate there last night (Tuesday) and was totally happy with my dinner. I needed something quick before my movie started down the street, but didn't want fast food (yak!) =P This place really reminded me of Chipotle but it's slightly less $. I got the Cabo Bowl and had them pile the bowl high with rice, beans, chicken, salsa, guac, and sour cream. They also give you a side of chips for free and they have an amazing salsa bar with spicy stuff, fruity salsas, etc. I couldn't help but grin when I noticed the complimentary packets of chiclets chewing gum available at the salsa station. Also, if you go on Tuesday night, they have this poker chip game, when you get to the cash register you pick out a chip from the tin, and each chip has a number written on it, i.e. 10%, 20%, 50%, even one that says 100%. You get whatever the chip says off of your meal! Unfortunately I pulled out a 10er, but hey, I wasn't expecting that at all, so can't complain! Note: they don't serve beer here, but it's intentional because they prefer to keep it more family friendly. All in all, I give it 5 stars for it exceeding my expectations and having a great crew on top of that. Woooord! ;-)

So, where do you go if you have a large group that needs a quick place to eat right off of the interstate? Blue Coast Burrito in Cookville!! They were amazing! I had a group of 35 people that needed to be served and when we got there, everything was set up perfectly for us on the patio. Here are all the PROs: -friendly, accommodating staff -great patio area -yummy, affordable food -awesome catering staff -tasty fruit tea! Here are the CONs: ...NONE! I highly recommend Blue Coast Burrito to anyone passing through Cookville. We were in and out of there in no time with no hick ups. Thanks BCB!

The best part of this meal was watching the lady make burritos - truly an artist. I read several rave reviews about the fish burrito so I decided to try it. Big mistake! I am not a fan. I asked for everything on it but cilantro. It was a huge burrito filled with slaw, massive amount of onions and what appeared to be 3 or 4 cut up fish sticks. Got queso dip too and it was very bland and thin. The other choices may be better but I won't have another fish burrito.

Enjoyed the food. The staff were super and the atmosphere was pleasant. I would recommend this as a lunch destination. Be careful at what you order; we got more than we could eat. Fish tacos are happening!

I'm a cookeville native who has been a long time fan of burrito places like Chipotle and Qudoba. I was so, so excited when when Cookeville got a burrito place of its own. Unfortunately, my experience at Blue Coast Burrito was so poor that I will never be back. I ordered a small burrito bowl, and they literally gave me the tiniest portion sizes I have ever seen... I ask for spinach and I got two leaves of spinach- TWO LEAVES. When they totaled the add ins for the grilled veggies (which other burrito joints don't charge for) and the guacamole, I ended up paying almost $9 for literally 5 bites of food. I left hungry and angry. Food was mediocre and astronomically over priced. I'm all about supporting local, but I will never go back...go elsewhere like Spankies or Chilis and get a full-sized baja salad. You'll get way more bang for your buck.

Let's get this out of the way: "I'm from Texas" and I love Tex-Mex. I am currently on assignment in TN, so I have tried out most of the local Mexican Food. This is a semi-fast food concept that is a takeoff on Chipotle. I can't recommend their salsa, and their pico is just not right. On my two visits the cafe was popular - so perhaps I'm not a good judge of TN-Mex?!

A step above Taco Bell. Staff are friendly and menu has good variety at the right price point. Personally I prefer Baja Burrito in Nashville.....but this works for Cookeville.

Sorry..I hate giving low stars, but I just...wasn't impressed. The food was bleh, there was one kind of cheese, no refried beans, tasteless rice, no ground beef and the burrito just fell apart. (shrug)..I mean, maybe I just prefer a bit more authentic, but for the price, the long wait (with only a couple of people in front of me), and the taste...very underwhelming. I was regretting not just stopping by a Taco Bell. Again, I'm sorry. Don't base your opinion off me, seems like everyone else loves it.

Very good, big portions, 2 could split one of the delicious chicken salads. Love the salsa bar. The fruit tea is great. Clean, friendly employees. Will definately be back.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
