Excellent Cajun and Creole cuisine! I had the shrimp Poboy with fresh cut French fries that were covered lightly in Cajun seasoning. Excellent! My spouse had a sampler platter with creole jambalaya with 5 different sausages, shrimp and crawfish étouffée, and shrimp Creole. Side of onion rings. All were fantastic. It's hard to find good Cajun and Creole food outside Louisiana. This is one place you can count on. Definitely worth trying!! Aaaaeeeeeee!!

The oyster po boy was awesome and you have to try the sweet potato fries and caramel sauce

I really want unique, local spots like this to succeed in Columbia. But so far Landry's has not earned my respect. I am rating on limited experience, so take it for what it's worth. We were excited to get some hearty homemade grub at the southern fried festival this year when we spotted the Landry's booth. But the red beans and rice we got were horrible. I'm not sure how you can mess this up, but they did. Tasted like an ashtray. We couldn't even finish it - inedible. Not sure if I'll be willing to try them again.

Pros: The interior is charming and clean. The service was attentive and friendly. Cons: None of my lunch quite reached a 3 star level. The chicken andouille gumbo was bland but warm. The sweet potato fries were freezerburnt. And the bread is pure garlic butter. Don't come in expecting authenticity here. Don't expect freshness or food with zing. If you want a vaguely Cajun meal that fills you up, Landy's is fine. All of this applies to my lunch, so the breakfast may be better.

We stopped cutting through town and we really enjoyed it! I had the catfish poor boy & coleslaw. It was very good! Friendly & very clean!

Gumbo! I was on my way to a lunch meeting and I was starving. Since I've been wanting to check this place out but didn't have time to eat I stopped in and asked for the quickest food to go. The waitress said the gumbo and I love gumbo so I ordered it with a side of potato salad. The chef said I made seafood gumbo for the first time today. He said he has made gumbo from everything else but this was his first attempt at seafood gumbo. It was fantastic and this will definitely be on my short list of frequent lunch spots. The potato salad was the best ever. It was different than any other. You could taste more potato as it consisted of sliced potatoes with some mayo but not drowning in it and unique seasoning.

This little cafe is a diamond in the rough. With authentic New Orleans food and ownership you will love it. The shrimp Po Boy put me back at my favorite hangouts in NO. Everything else on the menu that I tried was great as well. Cole slaw and potato salad excellent. Can't wait to go back and have some Gumbo and red beans and rice. Believe me it is worth the trip to Columbia.

Okay, so right off the bat I'm just going to tell that I were judging this place on the food alone I would've given 4 stars. But there are a couple things that brought it down a star for me (and maybe even should've brought it down two stars to be completely honest). First off, a few weeks ago my wife and I finally decided to give Landry's a try. We had a pretty busy day ahead of us so my wife called to see what time they closed (we wanted to be sure we squeezed it in). She was told 2 p.m. So we knock out some of our errands then head over to Landry's. We pull into the parking lot at 1:15 on the dot. We get out of the car and as we are walking toward the door we are met outside by the owner. Very curtly he says "We're closed. Sorry." and turns around and goes back inside and switches off the "OPEN" sign that had previously been illuminated. Uhhhh... okay? Then why did you specifically tell my wife that you closed at 2? I could MAYBE understand turning us away if we had showed up 10-15 minutes before closing. But it was a full 45 minutes before their "closing time". We were both pretty irritated because A) we had really been wanting to try the place, B) we were starving, C) we had backtracked and went out of our way just to go there, and D) NOT 3 HOURS EARLIER THE OWNER HAD TOLD MY WIFE THAT THEY CLOSE AT 2 P.M. Obviously, we went elsewhere for lunch that day. At that point I was honestly not planning to ever even set foot in Landry's. As a business owner myself, it just really irked me how that whole series of events went down. What if we had made a special trip from out of town, just to be turned away 45 minutes before "closing"? We eat out several times a week and we love Cajun food. So I was really hoping Landry's would make the list as one of our "go to" places. But the owner very nearly blew that before we could even set foot in his restaurant. However, due to our love of Cajun food and the fact that the only other place in town to get it (River Terrace, which we LOVE BTW) is rather pricey, we begrudgingly decided to give Landry's another shot. First off, we were the ONLY people in the joint for lunch... on a Saturday. Which made the fact that they would turn ANY potential customer away all the more difficult to comprehend. Anyway, the waitress came and was as nice as can be. She takes our order and goes to turn it into the Chef/Owner. Remember how I said we were the only people in the place? Well, yeah because of that we could audibly hear him huff and puff when the waitress told him our order. As if we were inconveniencing him or something. It really took all I had to not get up and walk out at that point. Honestly, the only reason I didn't was because the waitress was so nice. The food eventually comes out.... on paper plates (WTF?). Maybe this is supposed to somehow be "charming" or something. I don't know. But at $10-15 per person are real plates too much to ask, really? On the plus side, the food was actually pretty good and a great value for the price point. You could certainly do a lot worse in this town. So I'm in this weird position here where I really liked the food but am beyond disappointed with the actions/attitude of the owner. And I honestly think given our experiences there 3 stars is being rather generous. I still haven't made up my mind if I'll be back there. Every other review of this place is 5 stars so perhaps we just caught the owner on a bad day (TWICE!). But I just don't take too kindly to rude/unprofessional management. And if you look at my other Yelp reviews you'll see that I'm generally pretty easy to please.

We've been to Landry's before, and we just had to try their breakfast. It was better today bc the manager also had a cook...sometimes he serves and cooks. We started with coffee and cafe au lait. Very tasty, I just would prefer it served in actual mugs instead of Styrofoam cups. Then came our breakfast which was a generous portion and looked very appetizing. After taking the first bite of our Landry's Benedict (see picture) we were very pleased. My husband's eggs were just cooked a few seconds too long, but it didn't affect the flavor. Make no mistake, this is a very rich dish, but oh so yummy. And of course we had to finish our breakfast with some New Orleans beignets. They passed the taste test, though we're a bit heavier than I remember them from NO. All in all, we really enjoyed our trip there today and we will go back for breakfat. 4 stars bc the food was delicious, the menu was great, service was spot on, and atmosphere was quiet and laid back on a side note, if you're looking for the high end New Orleans food, head over to River Terrace, it's owned by the same people. It's nice to have both options right here in Columbia!

I am from New Orleans, and the food was not what I was expecting, I wouldn't be eating there again!

Good hot sausage PO-boy and the coleslaw is unique. The only thing that was strange was the gentleman who went back into the kitchen with flip flops on. Interior decor is nice and the place appeared clean. Would go back again.

I have had crab cakes all over the eastern shore. I cannot get enough of Landrys. I eat here at least 4 times a week. I always have the assurance that the food will be great no matter what I order. Service top notch . Great prices!

They say you can judge a seafood restaurant by its gumbo. OK, 'they' don't say it. I said it, just now. Because it fits. Landry's is sparkling clean, tidy little place off the main drag through Columbia. Easy to get to, great service, and a potato salad that has no rivals. Extraordinary gumbo. Keep it up, Landry's! We're glad you're here.

As a native of Louisiana, I am always eager to try any and every restaurant outside of the state that touts authentic New Orleans fare. Landry's New Orleans Cafe didn't disappoint. The atmosphere harkens back to the streetcars running thru New Orleans, and the music brings the Big Easy to life during your dining experience. I have had the pleasure of over-indulging every time I dine there. Crawfish Etouffee, Gumbo, Jambalaya, Shrimp Creole, Muffalettas...you order it...and you won't go wrong! Authentic, home-made family recipes by a man who KNOWS what South Louisiana tastes like. Those people reviewing Landry's...claiming the food isn't authentic, and that they are from NOLA? They must have been short-term transplants to the Crescent City, because this menu is about as authentic as you can get! To the gentleman complaining about the seemingly indiscriminate hours of operation, give the place some time. This is a very new establishment here in Columbia, running under the stream of just one cook and one proprietor. There are bound to be bumps in the road...but I have every faith the road will level out. The many times I have been there, I have never had any issues with the quality of service, and the attention to the customer. I may have to stop in today! Just talking about Landry's has my mouth watering! Maybe I'll see YOU there!

I have tried to have lunch here once a week for a couple of months now. Have not had a bad meal here yet. Outside is 'non-assuming' but food is great.
