Owned and operated by the same family that owns Jim's Place East, this is a more casual version of the original, but with the same great food and wonderful service. Everything on the menu here is fantastic. But I especially love the Stuffed Shrimp. It's served in a lemony butter sauce and stuffed with lump crab meat. It's very rich - you won't be able to eat anything else. I also am a big fan of their very Greek, very wonderful Moussaka. The spices in this dish are wonderful! They have a nice bar area, and a lot of professionals will stop in after work for happy hour. On Mondays they offer half off of their house wines by the glass, and on Tuesdays Martinis are just $4.

Service at Jim's Place Grille was top notch. Considering the price the food is somewhat spotty. I my most recent visit I ordered one of the daily specials which happened to be a bone in filet. I ordered medium rare and it came out rare. This would not usually be a problem for me except that the cut of meat was quite chewy; not what I would expect considering the price. The accompanying baked potato had obviously been cooked quite a while earlier as it was cold and had terrible texure. I really expect more from a restaurant in this price category.

Love the lunch menu. Eastern european influence. Will go back to try dinner next time.

My wife and I were really disappointed as this is about a mile from where we live. We went on a Wednesday night and they had a good crowd. It's a larger place than it looks from outside. A large bar area with lots of seating at the bar as well as pub tables and booths. Service was attentive and prompt. The problem was with the food. Our appetizer, saganaki, was just OK. Being from the Tarpon Springs area, we have the opportunity to eat in many great Greek restaurants and saganaki is one of our favorite appetizers. There's was thin & greasy. No Ouzo poured over it at the table and lit. No OPA! I had a house salad with Blue cheese dressing and enjoyed it. In addition, I had the seafood gumbo. What was I thinking? Ordering Cajun in a restuarant owned by Greeks. The Gumbo was average, no depth from properly prepared roux. The real disappointment was my wife's burger. She asked the waiter if they would cook it rare (a lot of places in the south won't) and he said yes. It came well done. We pointed it out to the waiter and he was willing to have another done, she declined. the manager came over and apologized and offered again, but we didn't want to wait. The good news is when the bill came , they had taken it off the bill. Because of this we will give them another try as every restaurant has an off night. This is a great place, I hope they do better with the food next time.

Very good service. Good food. Try the grilled oyster starter. A little pricey? Sure, we would all like to have it cheaper.

I went here for my friends bday dinner. The food was delicious and the service was amazing! I do think thy are a tad pricey and would be great for a Romantic night out or birthday celebration.

It had been a few years since we had last eaten here, but we decided to stop by on a lark. My recollection was that the food was just ok (tough steak, good moussaka). What a pleasant surprise! Our menu choices were fantastic this time around. The place was packed on a Saturday night...as a result, service was a bit slow. Nevertheless, the food was spot-on. The Living Lettuce Salad was a tasty blue cheese salad, and the grilled oysters were nice as well. But the entrees were the stars of the evening...the lamb chops were some of the best I have ever had, and the pan-roasted Chilean Seabass special was perfectly done. Seriously, the lamb was charred on the outside, but so juicy and tender...wow. And the fish was moist, and flaky...unfortunately, the accompanying "hollandaise" was broken so the fish was basically lying in a pool of butter. Even so, it was delicious. It was a bit pricey, as I remembered it. But how awesome it was to find some "fine" food without having to schlep to Midtown/Downtown.

I am torn. I have gone to Jims Place for the last year and have always enjoyed a great meal. However, last nights experience was enough to make me never go back. My group of five went in on a Tuesday night and were told that it would take 15-20 minutes to be seated. An hour, three parties of four, and countless parties of two later, we were told it would another 20 minutes to be seated. After complaining to the manager, she reluctantly seated us. The hostess did not write down our arrival time and swore that we had only been there for no more than 30min. Interesting. Once seated, we placed our order and waited another hour for our food. Drink refills were sparse and several parties around us ordered and were served after our order had been taken. Speaking to the manager again, she did not apologize and made no effort to rectify the situation. After two hours, our group left without eating, without an apology, and never to return. It's too bad.. They have the best food in the area. I only wish the service matched.

I really want to give this place higher marks. It has a nice décor and atmosphere, but the food is average. First off, we tried it about a year ago for lunch, and loved it. I ordered a soup and salad, which was great. Then we came back for dinner last week, and ordered steaks (since it is a steak place), but were heavily disappointed. The steak was overcooked, and quite pricey for such a mediocre cut. The vegetables of the day (Brussel sprouts) were terrible. The cocktails were not mixed well, and I actually had to send the first one back because I could not drink it, it was so sour! They replaced it, but left the first one on the bill. Fail. Otherwise, the service was pleasant, but not great. Bottom line, go for lunch, and don't order the steak.

I love this place it is located in a strip mall but does not feel like it at all. I am able to sneak away for lunch here from time to time since I work right now the street. Everyone here is always...and I mean always great service here is consistently good. They have a great lunch menu from club sandwiches, salads and chicken Parmesan you can find something you will love. This place is perfect for more of an upscale lunch very nice...business or maybe a girls day out!

Food and service are wonderful. The char-grilled oysters appetizer is a must even if you thought you did not like oysters....you will now! I tried the Biloxi Whole Flounder, but it had been frozen. If you like bone-in fish...you will appreciate the difference between fresh and frozen. My husband had the shrimp and mushroom pasta, and absolutely loved it. Their cocktails are good, but their new computer system makes it hard to understand. At any rate... Cocktails are good, but pricey. Enjoy the food, but be conservative on the cocktails.

My wife and I were completely disgusted by the time we left. We both truly wish we had seen the way they clean before we ate, we would have left before taking a single bite. I will begin this evaluation with the service. We waited for more than 15 minutes before we even got the opportunity to order our drinks. The slow service continued through our appetizers and dinner. The service was bad enough that our main course was cold by the time it arrived. The food left a lot to be desired. We started with the oyster appetizer. It was tasteless and they did a very poor job of cleaning the oysters. All of them were very gritty. My wife ordered the Chilean sea bass. The bass was cooked beautifully, but there was little to no seasoning to speak of. Furthermore, it appeared that the cook forgot the sauce that was to accompany the fish. The only positive we have is that the bread was very good. Finally, the cleanliness. While we waited for our check we watched the staff clean the table next to ours. They first placed the silver wear, plates and everything else that sets on the table onto two of the chairs. Then they cleaned the remaining chairs with the towel and then used the same towel to clean the table. Yes, the same towel that cleaned a chair where people SIT was used to clean the table. They then placed the silver wear, which was just on a chair where people sit, onto the table with the plates and everything else that was on the chair. Then they cleaned the remaining chairs with the same towel again. I personally was thoroughly disgusted at the thought that my table was cleaned with the same towel that just wiped up where someone's butt was. I started as a teenager working in a restaurant and would have immediately lost my food handlers card if I was to do this. I recommend you stay as far away from this place as possible. I know that my wife and I will not return.

The food was really disappointing. The creamy soup had broke and was grainy and needed seasoning. The lamb burger was bland. The fries were very over cooked . All of our food was served cold. The steak was served at the wrong temperature and the meat was extremely tough. On the bright side , the server was very friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. They made the very best out of a strip mall location by creating a charming dining room.

Very good food. Dessert ok. Recommend the salmon and lamb. The only complaints: 1) entirely too cold! Turn down the A/C 2) iced Tea includes ice. Refills didn't have ice 3) waitress completely forgot to put in our appetizer which was understandable but disappointing Great service overall and good food.

I would not normally update on a place I have reviewed, but I was surprised by last night's menu - Valentines Day. I understand this is a busy night and a consolidated menu speeds things along. The menu did not include the usual entree salads and there were NO vegetarian entrees! I asked the waiter and he said a entree salad could be ordered I ended up pairing some sides.

Jim's Place in Collierville is popular among locals and tourists. The weekend bar crowd is robust and if you can get a seat it makes for a good night out. Jim's bar is a high-end bar environment. The bar is not cheap, but drinks are worth the value and the bartenders understand the added-value of service. If you're looking for people watching call and ask for a bar table, they're popular and hard to get. The restaurant is pleasantly decorated, roomy and comfortable. Personally, the food is ok, not great. The food quality doesn't match-up to the atmosphere and decoration in the dining room or the prices. Flavors are mild and presentation is more family-casual than upscale. The menu is eclectic with mix of mid-south and deep-south favorites with a selection of what appear to be owner favorites thrown in. The wait staff in the dining room is hit-or-miss, some are young and new to the trade. There are plenty of bus and wait staff. Jim's is the place to be in Collierville! With a large dining room, and a function room for large-groups Golf Tournaments, Family Affairs and Business gatherings are common Call ahead for reservations on the weekend or be prepared to wait

Our party of Six held a Mother's Day dinner at Jim's Place, recently. Everything: a) Seating,b) Table service, c) Ambiance, and most important the various Entrees..was Excellent. Our meals ranged from Rib Eyes and Filets to Red snapper and Salmon. The Ribeye that I ordered was the best steak I've eaten in Memphis and Shelby County....this is First Class Prime Time Stuff they serve. We'll go back for sure.

Definitely coming back! Quality food served here. If you ever wanted to try calf/beef liver, this is the place to try it. I had it done southern style and it is fork tender and melts in your mouth. I have always been a liver fan and this was the best prepared liver I have ever tasted. If you like the taste of lamb, try the lamb burger. It is a monstrous serving of daily fresh ground lamb that will not disappoint. If you are asked whether or not you want bread/rolls, make sure you say yes. They are hot, fluffy, soft rectangle puffs of deliciousness. I am excited to sample more of their offerings. Finally found an american restaurant serving quality food prepared well.

Dined last night as part of a Wedding group. Though it got kind of confusing, the Staff & Kitchen handled it ok. Would recommend a 2nd visit. The Living Lettuce Salad is da bomb!

We have four people going there for dinner tonight, we had crab meat stuff mushrooms for app, the mushroom was tiny and only 5 mushrooms for 13 dollars, I surprised how small the mushrooms is and only few mushrooms. we order the filet and ribeye, all the steak it was over cooked, and no taste. I don't think it was good, that's my first time, I wouldn't go back.

We go to Jims place twice a year for a work function and I am just not impressed. Granted we only go for lunch... so keep in mind, I have no idea how the dinner menu is. The lunch options I've tried aren't awful, but they aren't amazing either.

Made reservation for 2, arrived 10 min. early, waited 45 min. Friday evening. 2 groups of 6-8 without reservations (they said) arrived and couples left after dining. Large groups were seated, obviously by putting together tables for smaller groups ( like us). After inquiring when we might be seated, were put in the Sports bar area with giant tv screens around. Totally. NOT the ambiance we were looking for.... Extremely noisy area of restaurant. Very disappointed. Our server was good and they did try to make up with a complimentary appetizer, but then charged us for the appetizer, which we brought to their attention. Crab cakes and Greek salad were good, but rest of meal disappointing, although we did not order the dinners we had planned as our evening out was ruined by now. We were looking for a quiet, good dinner out by our selves...NOT WHAT WE GOT!

One of the best restaurants around. Service is great and the food is awesome. I recommend the filet, stuffed shrimp, ahi tuna, and the fish mediterranean style. Appetizer get the calamari, phyllo puffs, or hanger steak. Been there many times and still enjoy each experience.

The hostesses were nice. The server was d*ck-ish but nice at times. Overall, we enjoyed the ambiance and the food was ok, My husband had to ask for steak sauce for his steak when normally if the steak is a good one, he does not need sauce.

Service was good and so was the atmosphere. I had the Chicken Gyro which could have used more sauce. The cup of gumbo was fair - I like the gumbo at the Poplar location better. The oyster in the gumbo did not seem very fresh. My wife had the Pork Loin Sliders - she liked them. She said her side salad was good. We will come back and try some different entrees.

Jim's used to be a favorite lunch time restaurant. Last time we were here I had the chicken parmesan and it was very under cooked. Tonight my husband ordered the kabobs well done. They came out medium rare. When they were sent back and returned they were still pink. Service is always great. Too bad we won't be returning.

Ate here for dinner tonight. Wait staff was excellent but food was just okay. Had the Veal Cutlet. Very tender but lacked flavor. We had a large party, eleven of us, and didn't have to wait long. Their fries are great however and unfortunately were my favorite part. Might go back.

This place is just ok. I've been here twice. The first time, I ordered the gumbo and the souflima. The gumbo was tasty, but a small portion for a $4.50 cup. Do yourself a favor and pick the gumbo as a side for an extra $1.75 if you want the gumbo. The souflima was dry and a small portion. For $16, I got 4 little pieces of pork tenderloin that were the diameter of poker chips and about 1/2 an inch thick. Not very filling at all! Plus, as pork tenderloin tends to be if handled improperly, it was dry. The second time we ate here was tonight and very disappointing. I started with the gumbo again, which was good. My mother wanted to order the chargrilled oysters, but the waiter said there was a problem with the oyster shells and if she wanted oysters they'd have to be fried. A problem with the oyster shells? I think they mean they were too lazy to shuck them. I'm not sure if the fried oysters were fresh or fried from frozen. They were mostly dough. I ordered the chicken kebob, which was ok for what it was. Again, the protein size was miniscule. I had 3 pieces of chicken that were about 1 inch by 1 inch cube and a few pieces of squash and bell pepper. The rice that came with it was watery. Perhaps the biggest disappointment was my mother's shrimp pasta. The pasta was dry and clumped together. The dish had obviously been sitting under the heat lamp for several minutes. The waiter offered to bring out more sauce instead of sending it back to the kitchen and making a new, fresh dish. The pasta had to be sitting under the heat lamp for a good 10 minutes because the sauce had congealed and absorbed into the noodles, which were overcooked. It was quite busy in there, so maybe the kitchen wasn't up to the rush. The table next to me had a problem with their chicken. The man ordered the kebobs and sent it back saying that the chicken was raw. It came back and was very tough and dry. Apparently, they zapped it in the microwave to finish cooking it because it came back out within a couple of minutes. Service was fine.

The best salmon I've ever had. It had an apricot glaze. Delishhh! The atmosphere was very relaxing and casual. We had a few drinks at the bar whole waiting for our table. The bar was really cool, could definitely get drinks there more often. Really nice staff. Big flat screens playing sports. It was cozy! I would definitely go back!

Dark, cozy interior - great place for date night. The service was excellent - even though they were still busy after 8:00 p.m. on a Friday night. Nice selection of wines, both red and white. Each entree comes with two sides; we both chose the seafood gumbo, which was spicy and delicious. I had a salad with balsamic vinaigrette, which was average. I ordered the fish special, a grilled grouper. It was grilled nicely and tasty, but a little tough and came with nothing else on the plate except a lemon. Jim loved his seared tuna. We were disappointed in the bread, which we recognized immediately as Sister Schubert's dinner rolls. Probably worth a return trip, but not my favorite.

Food was so good! Service was excellent. Ask for natillie. They had many parties that night and accommodated us to fit us in last minute for my mother's birthday. The manager came by several times to ask how our experience was to see if we were happy. I would go back.

Jim's Place Grille is a popular restaurant in Collierville. It offers a Greek style food with some Southern touches. The decor features black and maroon colour palette, etched glass on doors and black-and-white photo art. The menu is all right. The veal cutlet is always perfectly pan-fried. Fish is all right. Fresh Italian spinach and creamed potatoes are my personal favourites.

Came here with a group of people so I'm not sure I got the best quality from the kitchen. There are 2 things, however, worth mentioning..... 1) excellent key lime pie and 2) they make a homemade ginger ale that is absolutely outstanding!

  • Blue M.

Went here on a suggestion and it didn't turn out to be too bad, pricey but not too bad. They didn't seem to have a large variety of selection to choose from land or turf so I went with the usual fillet. It came with Broccolini, something that I've never had before. Since the weather was so bad the place was empty...it surprised me when my food came out cold. I asked for my steak medium rare, got it rare. Besides that the steak was good. The waiter did bring me another, warm order of veggys too. There were three other tables in the place with guests, what was the cook, because it is apparent he/she isn't a chef, doing back there??? Bummer.
