Chinese Cuisine
The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.
Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.
There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.

Let me just start start by saying that buffets are not my thing. Wasn't really there by choice, either, but neither of those things are Ichibans fault. My problem is that they would not let me return my chicken that so very much tasted like fish. Well, they let me return it but wouldn't take it off the bill. They forced me to order something else or forfeit my money. I'm not a fan of sending food back and ordering something else because I have huge fear that the kitchen staff will spit (or worse) in my food. I usually just eat it and don't complain, but this was so disgusting I couldn't. I initially chose not to order the buffet because I cannot justify paying $12-15-20 dollars for an "unlimited" meal when I will typically only eat about a serving. I wasn't sure how much the dinner buffet was, because it's not posted anywhere. I requested a menu while my family dove into the buffet. I was disappointed that there was no hibachi and there was also nothing indicating which dishes are fried and which are not. Fast forward to the dish.. Gross. It took a while so by the time my fish/chicken/chikish hybrid arrived everyone else was on dessert. It was gross. I even got a second opinion and we agreed - do not eat. Instead of taking it off the bill, I was forced into ordering another dish, which they packaged to go. If you are forced to eat here, just eat the buffet. Suck it up and don't risk ordering something guhross. At least if you get the buffet and it's nasty, you can ditch your first plate and try something else.

Writing this review as eating. Nice enough place on the inside. Not super friendly staff. Standard American Chinese food, Mongolian grill, some sushi, a few pizza type items for the kids. The food, sweet and sour not good and way too salty. Egg drop ok but average. Couldn't try the won ton soup as all the won tons were gone. Some of the dishes were ok but none stood out as really good. Dumpling ok but seemed like it may have been a few days old. The sweet and sour chicken had been fried in grease after fish and tasted like fish. Gross. To wrap it up, even though it was busy many items didn't seem fresh. The best thing of the lunch was some chocolate mint ice cream. Will not return and I'd recommend going elsewhere. After finishing this and lunch I went to the bathroom. It was very dirty and smelled like a 1970's gas station bathroom in West Memphis AR. I am disgusted I ate at this S@$t hole! Hope I don't get sick later. Do not eat here if you care about cleanliness or freshness. Gross gross gross.

Wow, how much did they change. Since my awful 1-star review, they've upgraded their buffet lineup. That's how to take criticism. I had to come here twice to see if it wasn't a fluke. I've since come a third time. The quality is definitely way better than before the other two times I had in the past. I've tried talking to the waiters or managers, but they don't seem very talkative. It does look like management had been changed. They've got sushi, but the sushi is not as good as Eat Well or Grand Buffet's sushi. Their American Chinese is mostly fried, but what I like here is the steamed ginger-onion sole (sure it's most likely frozen, but a pack of that at Costco is about the same cost of the buffet). And then there is the snow crab legs on Friday, Saturday, and Sundays. Thank goodness for change!

I'm going to step out and give them 5 stars! I've been here three times and I haven't had a problem with my food nor service. This place is clean and the food is Fresh. The flavors of the food are great. There are some foods I don't eat but there is a grand variety that you can choose from that will meet your taste buds needs. It maybe a little pricey but the food is good! I've had better but this met MY EXPECTATIONS every time. So this will definitely be a spot I go to when I want to pig out at a Japanese buffet! My 5 stars is based off meeting my expectations because everyone has a different opinions, expectations and tastebuds. Great place to eat!!!

My week nights consist of getting off work when most people are sleeping, and trying to find a bar that didn't close early. Most nights, I usually fail at that. On weekends, I try to catch up on sleep, and I usually don't even leave the house until about 4-5PM. I run errands, and the next thing you know, it is already past 9PM, and I am ready to eat. This happened on Saturday. I was with my boss, and we were starving. He told me about am Asian (hell yea) buffet about halfway between my house and his- so we went for it. We had gotten there around 9:45, and it said they were open until 10. We asked if it was ok, and they said sure (hell yea)- so it was time to clean the buffet. Before I get any further, I wanted to let you know that I am usually not a buffet type guy- they usually scare me with all of the shit that sits out all day. And it also requires effort. So this was actually my first buffet experience in Memphis! We were starving, and as we were getting seated, I noticed they had 4 islands of food and a sushi thing lined up. I emptied all of my pockets at the moment I saw it, in case I needed to bring some to go. The waitress was very friendly (I think my boss knew the people there from visiting so much) but when she took our drink orders and I said "Coke", she responded with "Pepsi". Yuck. After walking through the first island of assorted meats (which was mostly the 10 types of chicken, lo mein, rice, frog legs, etc) and filling up my first plate, the thought of washing it down with Pepsi kind of faded away. Now mind you there were only 2 other people in there eating (they sat right behind us, thankfully they were leaving)- and I think the guy literally just got out of prison because I tell you what- the things that were coming out of his mouth made me sound like Mary Poppins. I almost spit my food out 3 times! I felt sorry for my boss, who had to stare at the pervert. Honestly, the food was seasoned pretty decently and I got to load up. Granted, I wish the food was a little on the warmer side, but what do you expect 10 minutes before closing time? I went back and filled up on 2 more plates- by then- I was full. They even had pizza (which wasn't bad!), salads, all sorts of desserts. I mean, It had a mix of Chinese, Japanese, and American! When I got the bill, she even took 10% off (not sure why, but I'll take it!). For the 2 of us, before tip, it was only $26. I tell you what, that is the cheapest dinner for 2 I have had in a long while! I usually spend that myself on a lunch somewhere! So at the end of the day, this place came in with the clutch. I was too hungry to even notice sanitation or anything, and I survived to tell the tale so I will def be going back here!

We have all been here before even if you havn't been to this one. The food was well prepared and the restaurant was clean. The tables are as basic as you can imagine. Hard workers and quick service is the norm. I guess the fact that I have written this review without mentioning food says something. It was not bad it's just that it is what it is. I'm happy they exist.

Good food, quick and easy Chinese food with decent Sushi bar. I give it 3.5 stars

Granted we had eaten BBQ for just about every meal.. i was a little surprised when i heard we were wrappin up our trip with a chinese buffett.. We walked in and were seated across the wall from the pond. We had the drink orders taken and were released to the buffet. Granted there was litereally a little bit of everything, and the guy we were with made multiple trips.. i am not the best one to take to a china buffet.. Im a little picky about my meat, i did try the pepper chicken and the sweet and sour chicken.but i wasnt overwhelmed with the need to go back.. also tried the fruit, which wasnt quite ripe yet.. I dont know if it as just me being picky or not being in the mood for chinese, but i think i missed the table with the lo mein and fried rice... the service was friendly and fish in the pond were neat... but over all i wasnt impressed...

I find most people are pretty pro or anti buffet before even setting foot in one, and I can understand, it's a style that doesn't appeal to everyone. I'm going to assume anyone reading this review is pro-buffet, and take it from that angle. As buffets go this one is above average quality. They make all of the items in relatively small batches and refresh them frequently. Like any buffet you can find the occasional out-too-long item, but they do a great job of keeping that to a minimum. There's also a nice selection of sushi, again, just slightly above average for sushi but they put out a large number of rolls and only put out one of each at a time so they are fresh. There are very minor changes from lunch to dinner, and from week day to week end. I think less than 4 stations change between those times. I think they could do a bit more to differentiate lunch from dinner, but given the wide number of choices perhaps they don't have to do that. There is a full salad bar, and a full desert bar often augmented by some cakes. Prices are fair, neither high nor low. The staff is very attentive and friendly. I see how some might call it hovering as they are quick to pick up used plates, but I think it is convenient. There are not a lot of chinese options out this way, so it may be the best chinese available without driving a decent distance. You can get better sushi in town, but I doubt anyone would come here for a sushi-only experience. Grab a few pieces for an appetizer before your chinese main course.

Not the best Chinese buffet I have had. A huge selection, yes... and if you like seafood or sushi, this may be your place. I am a Hot and Sour Soup junkie and theirs wasn't good. I couldn't eat more than just the taste I took.

This place is not even worthy of one star. I just finished visiting this tacking decorated establishment about 30 minutes ago. For my two small children and myself, the bill came to 31.44. I didn't even eat my plate because it was so nasty. The crab legs clearly came from crabs who had been disease ridden with polio, the chicken wasn't even chewable, sushi had absolutely no taste and the sauce I tried to cover it up with just to get some food in my system almost put me into a spice coma. My kids couldn't even stomach the Mac n cheese or pizza they offer. There is no service so I left no tip. Drinks aren't included in the buffet price. I had water with mine, so thankfully that saved me a few dollars. When paying the tab, I expressed my displeasure and basically got an "I don't care, please pay so I can continue driving my Benz." Everything is clearly cheap in this place from decor to what they use to feed you. I agree that it seems people are all about quantity over quality. This stuff is not fit for human consumption. I wouldn't feed it to lab animals either. I am a cancer survivor and I'm pretty sure if I had eaten anymore, my cancer cells would have reactivated and grown. Do not waste your money.

Don't waste your time or money! Non-accredited by BBB due to unanswered complaints! Rubber chicken, their reluctance to refill popular items such as crab legs and oysters. Food was bland, people at the register were complaining that they were charging too much. But the last straw was the HUGE ROACH that was walking on the light fixture above the buffet! Of course, on one acted like they spoke English. We won't be back. ZERO STARS!!

Great food, selection, and pricing. But, careful. An erroneous and mysterious $3 charge appeared on my credit card account which they quickly refunded.

This was the worst buffet Ive ever dined at. The vegetables were all drenched in a nasty vomitish brown sauce, the sushi was subpar and poorly made, the so called "ice cream" was like toothpaste and my daughter had a cookie... when she removed the almond there was a hair. Im actually getting sick thinking about it. Ugh. Dont waste your time or money.

So I'm editing my review to explain something. I only go to buffets at the busiest times because that's when the food is the freshest because they replace it often. If someone is going to the buffet at slow times, yeah, it's probably not going to be as good and that's no matter where you go. I only go to Ichiban for lunch, thus my review is only for lunch at Ichiban. From what I've been told, the owners of Ichiban are different from the owners of the now closed Red Sun Buffet. Ichiban has the best Chinese / Sushi buffet in the metro Memphis area, IMHO. What I find interesting is when I go for lunch, you see a lot of blue collar workers. Probably because it's fairly inexpensive for lunch. The sushi is fresh and decent. The buffet is hot and fresh. The waitresses may not know a lot of English, but they do know how to take drink orders and ask politely if they can pick up your plate. What I especially love about Ichiban is that they have sashimi on Sunday. Woo hoo! I know everyone raves about Eat Well, but Ichiban beats it hands down. Eat Well has this "I'm trying to be uber-cool" feel to it, but doesn't have uber-cool food. Eat Well's selection of food just lacks compared to Ichibans. FYI, at this point in time the Clipper coupon magazine has four useful coupons to eat at Ichiban. I would recommend using them, especially if you haven't been to Ichiban before.

Complete crap, but after living here a year i have learned people here prefer quantity over quality

While in TN visiting my best friend, her husband and their 4 young children, they took me to dinner at the Ichiban Buffet. As someone who doesn't eat meat, I wouldn't choose this place, as it's not particularly vegetarian friendly on the hot food side of things, however, my friends seemed to enjoy the meaty side of things and despite that if your a sushi lover, then come and enjoy! The sushi buffet was delicious and plentiful of options beyond your typical salmon/tuna rolls, even for those of us who don't eat shellfish! One hint for the staff though, if you come with kids, they seem to hover a bit excessively...

Absolutely the worst place at which I have ever eaten in my life. The food was horrible, including the sushi. I'm with another reviewer, what are you guys smoking? Service was non-existent. I'll never go back again.
