This place is not an amazing location nor an epicenter of ambiance. But the ribs were great and the rib eye was large. The green beans were okay but the mashed potatoes were buttery and real. Server seemed a bit frazzled but got the job done. A wide menu with fair prices and large portions. Well worth the stop!

5years ago under old management, the food was incredible. Now, the pulled pork is very greasy and has a heavy dirty almost bitter taste. (I tried once a month for a few months and it didn't improve) Edit 5/5/2015 - takeout pulled pork was inedible last time; management said they'd replace, but that doesn't do any good once I'm already home

After driving past this place between Oak Ridge and Clinton on numerous occasions, we finally stopped in for a mid-afternoon lunch the other day. We found good food, served in ample portions, and downhome service, with a nice view over the river. I particularly mention the service because of the bubbly middle-aged waitress, who took a particular interest in the baby in our party, but chatted like an old friend with everyone at the table. My pulled-pork barbecue sandwich was great, and the sides of hushpuppies and onion rings got good reviews from those of us who ordered them. I was a bit surprised by the large variability in menu prices, which range from very reasonable to a bit pricey.

CLOSED AND RE-OPENED UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT. We ate here again a few months ago and were not impressed but this diner closed and just reopened under new ownership. Well, we tried it again. Menu is still basically the same, prices similar or a little higher than before, but the service was much better and the food was better as well. Be warned - there are a lot of coupons around here that the new management will not honor.

Had a brisket sandwich and pulled pork sandwich, portions were moderate for lunch, not a distinctive taste but meat was cooked tender.

This place is definitely a nice mom and pop sort of store. Neatly right next to a paid parking lot, or some kind of lot, you could easily just pass it without knowing it was there. Parking is limited, so I can understand if this place is packed it's going to be tough to find some parking. The atmosphere here is very close and compact and they also have two places to sit. The front, or the patio looking back... The view, if there is one, just looks like weeds on top of a hill. Lets get to the food. For lunch, they had a special that I got: Pulled pork sandwich with 2 sides for $8.99. Not bad for all that you get. I got the hushpuppies as well as the fried onion rings for my sides, and well I wasn't really impressed with the hushpuppies. And the reason being is because I felt like it just dominated my mouth as that feeling of wet and soggy and the thought of "I can't eat this unless I drink something" just pops into my head while chewing on it. Which to me, hushpuppies are not supposed to taste. The pulled pork sandwich was good though, good amount of pork. Fried onion rings were a little greasy, but what do you expect from onion rings? Lastly, service. I don't think this place gets that much service because we came in with a part of 6 and I guess the server was overwhelmed by that sheer size and number that it took her about half an hour to split all our checks up. When she asked us if we wanted the checks all on one or separate, I don't think she got the answer she was wanting to hear. Maybe she's new or maybe she's been there for a while either way she shouldn't have seemed frustrated. I felt bad for her, but she could've just pulled it off and said "well, I thought work was going to pay for it!" or something humorous along those lines. Anyways, to top it all off I give this restaurant a 2.5-3 for its service and food. It's not really amazing and glorious, but it's food to fill the stomach during the afternoon lunch. Plus, I don't think there's really a view, but who knows maybe if you squint hard enough through the trees and leaves, you'll see something.

Ok. This is not the best pulled pork in the area. (Too much smoke.) But, try some of their other offers. Spousal unit & I had the BBQ and seafood for 2 at $30 take home. Ribs were excellent. Almost as good as Big Daddy's near Augusta, Ga. Other half loves catfish and rated these excellent. Green beans were superb, like my Gmom used to make. Southern baby. Portions were large. We ate 2 meals on this order

This place could be amazing. Imperative word being could. We walked in on a Saturday night around 7:00 pm for a table of 2. we were told the wait would be 20 minutes which is expected on a Saturday night. We swung by the bar to grab a drink or two while we waited and my first thought after seeing it was "clean some of this crap up." For a nice place I felt like there were just too many glasses, napkins and receipts lying around. The other downfall of the bar was a lack of a drink menu. Even if they are classic cocktails at least have something I can peruse to give me an idea of what i want to drink. After some alright Bloody Mary's we were seated outside. Considering the patio wasn't packed, i think our wait was a staffing issue. For an appetizer we ordered the spicy shrimp. Although they were heavily sauced, they tasted pretty darn good. For my main entree, i ordered a steak. It was cooked just how i ordered but, lacked good flavor. Next time I'm in town, I'll come by for a drink and the view but, leave after a small appetizer unless there are some big changes.
