I have been wanting to try Kumo since it opened up. Went there for the first time today. Wasn't blown away by the decor, pretty boring. Also felt bad for the fish, they have no gravel or anything in their tank. Me and my friend went at lunchtime. There was only one other family there so the service was really quick. I ordered chicken teriykai with the salad. My friend got spicy tuna roll and spicy salmon roll with miso soup. My salad was more like a bowl of ginger dressing with some lettuce underneath. Small portion. One small slice of zucchini. The sushi came out first. I'm not a sushi fan but have tried Fulin's and thought it was pretty decent. I did try this sushi and did not like it at all (same roll as Fulins too). My chicken teriyaki... I wanted to like it but it was probably the worst chicken teriyaki I've ever had. The sauce was watery and did not stick to the chicken, tasted like maple syrup. But worse it was extremely dry and took forever to chew. Sufficed to say I will not be returning but it seems there are those who enjoy the food here. I will be returning to Fulin's which is a much better deal for your money and fresh, tasty food.

Now have been here three times. I am happy to report that the lukewarm miso was a fluke on the first time. It has been hot since. Went again this weekend. Again looking at vegan options, we went with the tofu bento and a side of the vegetables, as well as a separate order of avocado rolls. I asked for them to replace the California Rolls with Avocado Rolls in the bento. The bento comes with the crispy vegetable rolls and some sweet sauce. Very good. The salad was good, the only negative was it drowned in the ginger sauce. Needed a little more finesse in pouring the dressing on! The tofu was some of the best I have ever had, and the vegetables have a wonderful taste. The other small negative was the gohan rice was a little less moist and soft from what I expect, both on the bento plate and in the rolls. We shared a large house hot sake and it was very good. Service was as usual excellent. I think this place deserves far more business. It is a good value!

3.5 stars! Very solid rolls. Generally very good service. For a small town this is a lucky find. Best rolls in town for sure.

Excellent new restaurant that offers Japanese, Thai and Chinese food. Very fresh sushi. The bento box is a great value and very filling. The service was very friendly and attentive.

Love LOVE LOVE Kumo! We used to frequent Kumo in Chattanooga before we moved to Nashville. When we moved back it was to Cleveland and we've spent many a night lamenting the fact that there was a) no good sushi around here and b) that there is only mediocre hibachi. Shortly after these laments one of us would say, "We need to go to Chat soon and go back to Kumo" Yesterday evening shortly after finishing up an okay dinner at Takoyaki we were on the way home by way of a short detour when out of the corner of my eye I saw the Kumo logo. We immediately turned around and drove by "OMG YES THAT REALLY DOES SAY KUMO!" As we were just in front of the restaurant the sushi chef stepped outside and as I asked if it was the same Kumo as in Chattanooga he said it was and actually remembered seeing me and my daughter in there on previous occasions. He invited us to come in and check it out so we did and were greeted with a WONDERFUL staff and we promised we'd be back soon as we were super excited. Tonight we went and they did NOT disappoint! We went all sushi tonight as we had not had any good sushi in months and each of the rolls was perfect! We had the Amazing, Incredible, Smile, and Volcano rolls along with a tuna tataki appetizer from the chef. The fish was super fresh and tasty, the amount of rice in the rolls was perfect (just enough to hold the roll together and provide the nice bite that it adds), and the sauces were good without being overwhelming to the other flavors. My daughter ate her whole bowl of miso soup (her fave) and they even left out the tofu, seaweed, and green onion for her which was great for me because she didn't ask me fish it all out. The staff was always attentive, accomodating, friendly, and just made us feel at home the whole time. Xièxiè, Kumo family for bringing your amazing food to Cleveland and making our family VERY happy.

Went to Kumo last night for the first time and was very impressed with the decor and environment. Looked over the menu and was in the mood for an all sushi dinner. I love sushi and eat sushi atleast twice a week. The rolls sounded amazing and I was so excited to try my spicy crunchie shrimp roll and mango shrimp roll. they both sounded so great. The sushi looked great when they brought it out but after the first bite I can honestly say it was the most flavorless sushi i had ever put in my mouth. next i tried the mango shrimp roll and the mango was so hard i struggled to get through it. I am not one to send back food being a current bartender myself and i hate when people do that but my food was disguisting. The friend i was with got the chx bento box that looked amazing so i called the server over explained that i didnt like my bland sushi and asked for veg and rice instead from the kitchen. Which was so good. Now here where i got pissed. I got my check and both sushi rolls where on there instead of the rice and veg i actually ate. They server said that i still had to pay for what i sent back but that i got my replacement for free. If i knew that was the case i would have gotten 14$ worth on entree that i paid for with the sushi. I was very dissappointed in the customer service that was not the appropriate thing to do. Will not go back.

Call ahead order for pick up: This review is for a call ahead and pick up after I got off work during my lunch hour. I decided to go home for lunch, then come back. They were fast and nice in getting together my order. When I got there, I had to wait a couple minutes for them to get it together which I can understand because I ordered it while driving here from across the street. I got the chicken and rice special for lunch. It was great too. When I got home, I had sweet tea with it. As a matter of fact, I might just go here again today after work. Anyway, it came with a special Japanese sauce which flavored the chicken and rice perfect. I dipped the chicken and rice into this sauce which I don't know the name of but it was that good. It makes me hungry just thinking about it. That sauce, wow wish I had some now.

I've not had good sushi in the Chattanooga area yet. I'm from California, so nothing compares. Kumo comes close, and yet being so far away from the ocean. I went in by myself and sat at the sushi bar. The service is great. I even requested something that wasn't on the menu, and they made it for me. Thanks Kumo!
