For Far Eastern Food mainly THAI it was excellent, the Sushi (even though I don't normally do Sushi the Potato chip crusted sushi was to die for). Egg rolls was hand rolled and better than normal take out! I had the Sweet Sour Chicken with Fried Rice. 1 order was enough to feed 2 and plenty to take home to eat another meal. Price was ok but then when you compare it to good food it was a good value. When we were tourist we ate there often, now that we live here it is the only place we go for "Chinese" take out or eat in this is the place! If they aren't too busy ask for the Rain Room. Service was fantastic and even on busy nights we haven't had to wait more than 10 minutes to be seated! Discounts available.

Each star is for the food alone. Delicious. Atmosphere was busy but not obnoxious. The service was the pitfall. Waitress clearly wanted me on and out. The request to make a sushi roll spicy was shot down immediately. Sriracha, please. The do it yourself attitude with the to go container was the icing on the cake that guaranteed the less than heartfelt tip. I'd come here again in a heartbeat. I'd just ask for a seat on someone else's section. Much nicer inside than you might expect. I'll have to thank my friend for the recommendation.

My husband and I come to Chattanooga just to get away from our busy lives at home. We always go to the same places & decided to branch out of our bubble and enjoy some new food spots. I'm so glad we did. This little gem of a thai place definitely did not disappoint. If you love Thai food, check this place out! We'll be back for sure!
(5)David A.
Tom Yum soup was excellent! Good food but not the spicy flavor I was expecting for ordering Rain Thai "very" spicy curry
(3)Madi K.
Great food. A little expensive, but you can easily eat off of one meal twice. Get ready for leftovers!
(4)Ellis H.
Total fan of this place. You can take the experience a little further and ask for a table where you actually sit on the floor. I dig it. Tons of sushi options and also a full menu for those who are not into that. I had a soup that was spicy!! IT was amazing! Cleared my sinuses in an instant especially being down here in Chattanooga, TN right now where sinuses are all over the place. They also had TVs on at the bar so you could totally go here for a drink and some edamame!
(4)Rocky P.
Great Thai food. The price is a tad too much, but it is still worth the price. A good deal of options and sushi too boot. I would suggest going at lunch your first time. Better to get a feel for it without sending too much. If you love it, come back at night.

This is one of my favorite places to go when I eat out. Definitly the only place that comes to mind when I want sushi. The prices are reasonable and the selection is good. Ive been eating here for a while now and just recently learned that there are a few specialty rolls on the menu that aren't on the paper you make your selection on. So if you want to see them you have to ask for the sushi menu. My favorite rolls to date here are the volcano (a must have), potato chip, spicy tuna, philly, and hot and crunchy. I've tried others and I don't think I've had any that I didn't like at least. I will agree with a previous review about the spider roll. I love them but theirs has never impressed me so I eat the ones I know I love.
(5)Camp H.
Good thai for cheap.....cool atmosphere.....good service in off hours......my 4 yr old liked it so it gets four stars......wifey likey.....
(4)Christa L.
I've had takeout several times and eaten in twice. Never disappointed. Not being from Thailand, I can't speak to authenticity. But the duck in cashew sauce? DELIGHTFUL. I've tried several soups - always deeply flavored and fresh. They have a good selection of sushi and it is tasty, if not overly inventive. The owners have gone out of their way to provide a strong selection of vegetarian options. The service has been flawless on both visits. Atmosphere is cozy, comfortable and always clean. If you enjoy Asian food, you will find one of Chattanooga's best / only Asian markets right behind the restaurant. Save a few minutes to wander the aisles...a great find for foodie geeks like me.
(4)Kenny T.
Our favorite Thai place around here. We always the the pad Thai mild and spicy tuna rolls. The fried vegetable dish as an appetizer is good too. They're good about fixing messed up orders and the service is usually great! Our friends like the garlic chicken and curry stuff

We had fantastic service at Rain Thai. Came with a toddler...and that can sometimes instill a palpable coolness in restaurant wait staff as they no doubt anticipate a great deal of mess and disturbance. Not so with our server. She was wonderful. I wish I remembered her name. Started with an M, I think. Skip the pad thai. Just trust me. Skip it. The panang curry was the winner of the night. The flavor of the sauce was probably the best I've had of this type of curry. And I eat a lot of Thai. Only complaint was that the portion was pretty small (or maybe felt small because my husband and I basically fought over this in place of the pad thai that we ordered). We ordered a side of stir fried veggies for our daughter and ended up adding most of them to the panang curry, making it the perfect amount of food. After asking what veggies were included in the standard side, our server said that if we wanted the cooks could swap out a few of the veggies that we knew our daughter wouldn't eat for some that she would - that was such a nice touch. We were able to literally pick and choose. They went above and beyond. I'd visit again in a heartbeat. I'd try to figure out who our server was and beg to sit in her section. And I'd order the panang curry with a side of stir fried veggies.

I love soup and I love pho. That's no secret. It's my favorite thing. There are only a few spots here in Chattanooga that serve pho and just a couple that do it well. Rain is one of those. Only they don't refer to it as pho on the menu, it's called "beef noodle soup" which is really what pho is. Out to dinner one night with a friend and I ordered the beef noodle soup, the server asked if I had ever had it there before and I said yes. He then said, "then do you want all the stuff that goes with it?" Yes, yes I do. I want it all. So the stuff that comes with it is a plate of thai basil leaves, bean sprouts, and lime and then the special beef paste they give to only those in the "know" and then all the chilis and sauces like hoisin. The broth is very good, rich and beefy tasting with that distinctive pho taste, the anise flavor. I love to add hot chili sauce and hoisin sauce to my soup to make it spicy and sweet. If there is one dish that I would eat every day for the rest of my life it would be pho. Rain does a great job with it and it makes me very happy. The service is fabulous and the atmosphere and decor is awesome. Can't wait to get back.

My favorite Thai restaurant in Chattanooga, they have the best Thai food and atmosphere. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu! The staff is always very nice and accommodating to special custom orders. The sushi is very good, their spicy tuna rolls are the BEST. Also definitely get the spring rolls as an appetizer!
(5)Sheldon C.
This is another stop on my weekly lunch rotation of restaurants. Their service is average but their fried rice and crispy rolls are the best in Chattanooga.
(4)Greg C.
I have been there multiple times. The only complaint I have is inconsistent service. This is the best Thai food in Chattanooga. They also have great sushi. Try the lunch specials.
(4)Anna S.
Tasty pad Thai plus weird ambience, that's the best way that I could sum up my experience. After a brutal work drive from Memphis to Chattanooga, all that I wanted was to curl up and console myself with a big bowl of phó and some shrimp spring rolls with peanut dipping sauce. Repeated searches online and via Yelp turned up no Vietnamese restaurants that were open on a Monday in Chattanooga (yet another argument for why Cincinnati is awesome - I needed you, Cilantro!). I was starving by then, so I just did a search for a Thai restaurant that was nearest me and my rental car parked in some random shopping center. Rain popped up as less than mile away, so I hustled over there. Again, just weird. I was initially taken aback, because I assumed it would be your usual mom-and-pop little hole in the wall. Instead, it was quite large, and the decor was trying so hard to be trendy it was bordering on pretentious. Just odd. At the front entrance, by the host station, there was this bizarre odor - literally, it was just almost stomach turning. I got nervous, and almost left, because the smell was so disconcerting (I have read where a couple of other yelpers have commented on the usual aroma, and guess that it might be some odd air freshener). However, hunger pangs won over, and I was seated quickly in the back by the bar/lounge area. It was dark and barely lit, it definitely had this moody, night club-by feel. (However, the restrooms are nice, I totally dig the copper sinks). During my late lunch, I think I literally had four or five different servers waiting on me. This didn't seem like overly solicitous teamwork, but more like lack of organization. But whatever, my service was prompt and I got my food quickly, and that was really all I cared about The server that stood out was a young African-American guy (if you are ever waited on there by a young African-American guy who is inordinately polite, you should tip him separately, he was the most professional and basically took over waiting on me in a very nice fashion even though I don't think he was my original server). But then again, maybe that is just the style of the restaurant, and how they have their servers orchestrate... Regardless, service wasn't bad enough for me to complain or not return. I ordered the shrimp spring rolls (4 for $9) which were beautifully prepared but lacking in the flavor department. I gobbled down three like a pig, since I was literally ready to eat the napkins at that point, but in retrospect, I would've preferred half the portion for half the price, too bad they don't have that option on the menu. These were one of the few spring rolls that actually had basil inside, which I love the extra kick of flavor, however I think the leaves were arranged more as decoration (see pic) so it was kind of a wasted effort. I disliked the sauce that was served for dipping, it was not a delicious peanut butter sauce but more of a weird sticky hoisin. However, the pad Thai there is absolutely delicious. I would definitely go back and get an order of it to go. For the lunch portion, it was $9, which I thought was very reasonable, considering it was a good-size portion that came with chicken, deep-fried tofu, and shrimp. It was a bit greasier than other pad thai entrees that I have had, and I swear it almost had a bacon grease flavor (which didn't bother me at all, in fact, I don't think I've ever been bothered by bacon grease in my life). However, it just might throw off people who are looking for very authentic pad Thai: it was very saucy and greasy and bacon-y flavored. I thought it was absolutely wonderful, and I would totally go back and get a take-out order again

Opened in 2004 "Rain Thai Bistro" is an impressive authentic Thai restaurant. It offers starters, soups and salads, noodles and rice, side dishes , lunch specials, and main courses like the Panang Curry. The Panang Curry is authentic Thai curry in a peanut and coconut milk sauce cooked with bell peppers, peas, carrots and fresh basil. This is a spiced curry which you can choose chicken, beef, pork or seafood to complete the curry. After your decision of choice, you will be asked to specify your preference of how spicy you want it whether it be; mild, medium, hot or even Thai Hot. I chose medium for my main course. Now, for vegetarians, you have the option to leave your meat out. Also, for those who don't like spices, they can choose something off the noodles and rice menu. Just "state" this to your server to leave off all spices altogether. As far as side dishes are concerned, you have 4 choices. They are; sticky rice, stir fried bok choy, stir fried green beans and stir fried assorted vegetables. Rain Thai Bistro is sort of a hidden gem and can easily be missed. It's located in the same shopping center where The Rush fitness complex is at. When you see Rush, it's on the far right corner. Now, It's the simple truth, they have a wonderful feature in this restaurant like no other. The feature is an ultimate, magnificent made -picturesque- type "silent water fall" in here close to the bar area. Parking. No problem. You can park right up to the restaurant on the side of the building on the right , not out front as it is further to walk especially if they are busy. Overall, the food was 5 stars and the customer service was 5 stars. Why? Well, we simply had two waitresses to wait on us. So, they took care of us. Furthermore, the manager even came over and spoke to us. How cool is that. In summary, park on the side of building, sit near the water fall, choose a curry, order how spicy you want it and enjoy your dinner with a friend. And oh yeah, go to the rest room and check out the fancy "water fall" faucet lol.
(5)Aisha H.
The restaurant seems out of place in the strip mall area where it's located but on the plus, there's tons of parking. I would give more stars if it were based on the food only, but the service was really terrible and service plays a large part for me. The hostess actually made a face when we walked in even though the place was definitely still open. Our waitress was pretty nice but it was super obvious people wanted us to leave quickly. That's just so rude to me. And this is the second time we've gotten this "shade" from this place. I may revisit for takeout only, but not interested in coming here again and actually eating in the restaurant.

This place was ok as far as food goes but it is WAY overpriced - at least the sushi is and that is all I had. A small shrimp tempura roll (5 normal sized praises) is $9. I ordered 3 orders of crab stick and 2 orders of Ebi and that was 24. Ok, it is my fault for just walking in and ordering but I have never seem normal to small sushi, of average quality and such crazy prices. Good grief. Chattanooga has much better options within 5 minutes of this place. However, service was nice.

Met friends. I had sushi (ok) and would not go back for this. Everyone else had Thai food. This food looked good and my wife said the green curry was very good, calling the food fresh tasting. Rated my impression of their food.
(4)Brian S.
I admit, the best Thai food I have tasted. Plenty of great selections. Took the crew there to tape and they were happy. Great spring roles, a monstrous sushi dish, and basil noodles that were tasty and more... My wife and I are regulars and the atmosphere is great(a little dark). Check out our Friday Fill Up segment from Rain: youtu.be/eeorF7qVfA8

The food is awesome, but the service is not so great. It makes me sad to write this, but I will probably just get food to go from now on. A little back ground- my husband and I are both restaurant veterans, that's all we've ever worked in really, so we are over tippers. We came in with our 3 children (who know how to act in public by the way) and our good friend. So 3 adults, 3 elementary aged children. We felt like our server (Alex) did not want us there, maybe he thought "Oh great, a family, now I'm not getting a tip", I don't know. We were super nice to him, my kids always said please and thank you, and our order was easy peasy. But it was awkward, and totally obvious he wasn't happy to wait on us. Well, come time for us to settle up, and yep -automatic gratuity of 18% was added on. A party of 8, maybe 10 people, yes, I get it, some places auto grat those, but 3 adults/3 kids, really? Alex, you probably would have gotten more from us, because even when I do not get good service, I usually convince myself that they are busy, or had a bad day, so I should try and make it better, but you convinced me that my suspicions were indeed correct. Kitchen -amazing food, thank you! Servers -do not make assumptions about your tables, most of the time it's the ones you least expect, that tip the best.
(3)John J.
The food was very good, but the lighting was strangely weird, which affected the atmosphere considerably. Our table was very unsteady and wobbly. One of the elephant wall hangings is crooked, which really bothered me. Our waitress was one of the most inept of this genre I have ever experenced. (Not knowing what beers are offered, and not even offering to check for us!) We flagged down another server who, despite being rather busy with a table of eight, took the time to accurately fill our drink order. Rate it a solid four-star for food. Deduct two stars for the weird waitress!
(2)Nikki C.
My boyfriend and I went here for a romantic date night. The restaurant was very well decorated and had a nice ambience. The food was terrific. I had the noodles and my boyfriend had the red curry. I like that you could adjust the level of spiciness to meet your individual taste. The major downfall was the service. It SUCKED. We were constantly rushed by our server, Chris. Loved the restaurant and food, but just like in other reviews, service needs to improve a lot!!
(3)Otis P.
Very good. Not huge portions for lunch but plenty. Ahhh for brown rice else it comes with white. Very good atmosphere. Great waiter.
(5)Shawn W.
Where do I begin, the food is off the chain. All the plates in the picture are mine..lol I highly recommend this Bistros. The dessert(Fried bananas with honey) had me drooling.
(5)Darlene R.
My favorite sushi restaurant! The freshest I have had, also Rain Thai Curry is incredible! Be sure and ask for the Rain Room when you go, it is unique. If you aren't a fan of sushi, try the Cashew Chicken, it is the best
(5)David I.
Love the food and the atmosphere! Service was great and even found out how to put out the fire in my mouth from one of the servers. A great date place.
(5)Shea R.
Excellent service, even kept my water no ice, without ice and filled. I had a fried spring roll appetizer that was good then the Thai Curry and that was spicy and delicious.
(5)Unmil B.
Good ambience !! Food is tasty. Variety that you can't resist. I found the sitting arrangement is not quite good. Tables are small. They are good for 2/3 persons.
(4)T D.
We've been here several times. They have never once offered to seat us in their special "rain room." (One time we asked for it and they let us up there.) I guess we don't look valuable enough to make the effort.... although we are usually dressed pretty nice. [shrug] Twice they have sat us in the room off to the left as you enter the restaurant. NEVER let them do that;. service is TERRIBLE back there. The noise is out of control. Glaring lighting, too dark to read the menu yet blinds you at the same time. And the bar-top tables are wobbly, crowded and very uncomfortable. The rest of the time we have sat in the booths on the right side of the restaurant. Service is somewhat better. The booths are roomy and it seems clean enough. Puck took care of us once in that section and he was *****awesome. When we order sushi it takes forever. When we also order an entree, it all comes out together, 40 minutes later. That's weird. Starving, starving, waiting, no sushi, then Bam! you get it all at once. Mostly their food is greasy. In my experience poor quality food is greasy to disguise lack of depth. But choices are limited in small towns with little diversity.
(3)Sarah S.
Love Thai Rain! Great vegetarian options too~! If you like spicy, ask for thai spicy which is still not the most spicy you've tried but still very good :)
(4)Hamilton H.
While the food is excellent I am only giving it a 3 based on service. I sat at the bar for almost 10 minutes before anyone asked if i needed help. What made it worse was that 5 waitresses looked me right in the face and walked right by me not saying a word.
(2)Monica B.
We've been here twice in the past month and it was great both times. Great service and the food was amazing. Best Thai in Chattanooga by far!
(4)Shaunte W.
This is not Thai food. Skimpy portions, high prices. Red curry with frozen peas and carrots... are you kidding? No thank you.
(2)Brian A.
Wow what a nice place for Chattanooga! Rain is an awesome Thai restaurant. Food is excellent and they have all levels of spiciness to ones particular taste. They have a wonderful Thai room with authentic Thai seating and a wall of water falling all around you. Very nice. I usually get the Spicy Basil Chicken. If you like Thai I recommend Rain!
(5)Jason Y.
Rain offers great food in a great atmosphere. While definitely not Thai, their sushi bar is the best in town. I recommend the crispy duck, red curry, and the pad Thai.
(4)Steven K.
Two of the waiters I've had were very rude throughout the whole service. They complained about not tipping enough when I tipped already and they gave attitude. Never comes to table when called. Food is getting more salty.
(1)Gen M.
This place is all show, it's overly glitzed and food here is fake thai. I prefer thai that has more complex flavors, this is very americanized. They serve a free spring roll before the meal, nothing special. I had the massaman curry, curry sauce is thin but this was like water. The flavor was a bit bland and it tasted like they cooked the chicken and potatoes separately because they didn't soak up the flavor. My husband ordered the mandarin chicken which came out cold, it was congealed..yuck. A fried and sliced chicken breast with sweet sauce and canned mandarin oranges on top. Sound appetizing? Service was good, expensive food, not worth it. I would not go back. Sweet Basil on brainerd rd is much better, not the best I've ever had but the one of the better Chattanooga has to offer. Mama's Thai kitchen actually has the best thai in the area.
(1)Chuck T.
This is one of the best Asian restaurants I love the food I eat at the bar when I'm.there ..if.you get in Chattanooga come here.
(4)Hillary S.
Rain is awesome. It's one of my go to's if I'm around Hamilton Mall or don't want to go all the way downtown. The atmosphere is nice, and the prices aren't bad (especially if you go for the lunch special). My favorite dish is Panang Curry. Theirs is one of the best that I've had. I also love their Pad Thai. Their fried rice is good too, so sometimes I'll order it as a side. While some people like their Pad See Ew, it's not my favorite. They also have a dish covered in sesame oil that I thought was horrendous. Ask to sit in the rain room if they're not too busy!
(4)K S.
Love both the sushi/sashimi and the Thai items on the menu. Wish they served appetizer-sized tempura. The only way they serve it is a huge platter. It's good, but then you feel like you are overeating if getting other dishes too. Chattanooga roll is also huge...delicious, but like four rolls in one. The panang curry and pad Thai are delicious too! Service has always been good and friendly. Have eaten here about a dozen times and have never been disappointed!
(5)Brian P.
Awesome restaurant. Highly recommended. Asked what they recommended and the red curry was great. As was the mandarin chicken. Atmosphere is very relaxing with falling water. Free wifi is always a bonus. We came around 5 and sat down right away.
(5)Dela V.
Menu is hit and miss. Dumplings were tightly-wrapped, spongy-textured processed chicken. Pad Thai was almost inedible. Green Curry was delicious. Friendly waiter. Groovy music.
(3)Ashton G.
Love this restaurant. Eat here almost everyday on my lunch break. Lunch prices are very cheap and affordable. I get the spring rolls as an appetizer. They are your typical egg rolls but the sweet and tangy sauce they serve with them make them some of the best egg rolls I've ever had. Also they have hands down the best sushi in town in my opinion. Love the deluxe spicy tuna, Rita roll, crunch crab and sometimes I order the we roll, which isn't on the menu. Truly amazing sushi though. For lunch I normally get the fried rice or the garlic delight. They offer a large variety of different meats, sea foods, of vegetarian options with almost every dish on the menu. But my guilty pleasure has to be the spicy basil noodles on the dinner menu. So delicious has me coming back almost every day. Servers are always very polite and punctual even during their busy lunch rush when the restaurant is packed out. Great affordable place to stop in and eat if your just out shopping for the day.
(5)Craig G.
The overwhelming assault of creosote or lacquer smell dominated our experience. The harsh chemical smell made the visit unpleasant and the other failings only worsened the experience. I played it safe by ordering the Pad Thai which had exactly 4 shrimp and a "medium" heat was at the upper end of my tolerance, and I'm not a stranger to spicy food. And when a patron has a spicy dish, it's almost stereotypical that your waitress will fail to provide refills as did ours. Her lack of emotion accompanied the lack of service and she never smiled even once and the only emote we got was a flicker of resentment when we requested a refill. My wife wondered why there were so many to-go orders being picked up, but after our experience we can see why. The ingredients were of quality and a fair portion and although they'd been stingy with the shrimp there was adequate chicken. The décor is very pleasant and would be inviting if you could tolerate the smell and bad service.
(2)Brianne H.
I am extremely picky about Thai food. My husband and I ordered the yellow curry with the chicken and the pad thai. We went for lunch and our total was only $14, I have NEVER seen Thai food be so cheap before. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was great, the service was great. I would definitely recommend this place and am excited to try the pad see eww on their dinner menu. Edit: We have gone back twice since then- both times for dinner. The first time we got the chicken pad see eww and the chicken pad woon sen and neither of them tasted authentic. The noodles in the pad see ew were obviously not fresh. Service was good, but the food was "Meh." The second time we went for dinner we got sushi and a cup of the tom ka kai (no idea how to spell that, sorry) soup which is supposed to be made with different mushrooms; instead it just had regular white mushrooms sliced into thin slices, so it was just okay. The sushi was drenched in sauce and the rolls were TIIIIIIIINY. Not authentic sushi at all, and I have no idea why one of my rolls was $9. So sorry Rain Thai, you had 5 stars, and now you have 3.
(3)Jim E.
The other reviews are correct, the food is good but not 100 percent Thai. Is it a good place to grab some noodles? yes
(3)Keeley B.
Great sushi!!!! prices are a little higher than some other local places.
(4)Keri M.
Best Thai food in Hamilton Place....and the best for your money in Chattanooga in general. The curries are great and so is the Spicy Thai Basil. Since our group of friends is so big we like going here b/c they are pretty good with large groups.
(4)Lee O.
Average. VERY average. My wife and I ate here our first night in Chattanooga. Rain basically looks like a Cheesecake Factory with some generic southeast Asian elephants on the wall. And for some reason it smelled like leather--like some weird Glade plug-in. No idea what that was all about. There's really nothing Thai about the place appearance-wise. We were greeted at the door pleasantly by a girl wearing the typical black pants / white shirt uniform of every large "date night" restaurant in the universe. We were seated immediately and given our choice of either a regular table, or an absurdly tall table. There was a bar in the same area with two silent TVs showing sports. Our server admitted to only being there 2 days when we asked a question about ingredients in one of the meals. Boy, he was SLOW and not very helpful. Thank goodness another server was nice enough to take up the slack. Everything took forever unless the guy who wasn't our server did it. And the food: The spring rolls were suggest to us since we indicated an interest in a starter. They were greasy and tasted like food at the state fair, not like Thai or really any Asian rolls. Kinda sat in my stomach like little bricks afterwards. The little shredded cabbage and carrots decorating the plate were better. For the entree, we noticed the portions were huge, so we just shared a red curry with toasted cashews, peppers, mushrooms, pineapple, and chicken. The steamed rice was fine, probably done in a rice cooker, but the curry was nothing special at all. It just tasted like overly sweet coconut milk, and the pineapple pieces were clearly from a can. I can only fairly comment on the two things we ate, but those two things were not great and not very Thai, and the service at the table was slow. If you're in one of those situations like we were where you just want some dinner close to the hotel so you can go relax, you can probably find something decent. If you want a chef making actual Thai or Asian food, this is not your restaurant.
(2)Lisa P.
Five stars for the sushi - the best I have had in town by far!! Honestly can't speak for the Thai food because I always get sushi. But very good wine selection (plum wine!) and the sashimi quality have made me a loyal customer. Definitely recommend.
(5)Tracey C.
They messed up me and my husbands dinner. We ended up waiting for almost an hour to come out. The Thai basil wasn't good. It was very bland and un seasoned. So our overall Experience wasn't pleasant. But it was beautiful atmosphere
(3)Perry A.
Every time I go here it is excellent. The lunch specials are delicious and priced great. The teriyaki chicken is what I usually get for supper, and the red curry chicken is what I order for lunch. I usually get it medium-hot and it is perfectly spicy. The crispy spring rolls are also a must. Great service as well.
(5)Bryan W.
THE ABSOLUTE WORST THAI FOOD IN CHATTANOOGA!! I took my Thai wife, daughter, and Aunt to this restaurant tonight. That was the worst mistake I have made in a long time. This is NOT authentic Thai food...it's not even Americanized Thai food!! The restaurant looks very impressive when you walk in, nice decor, we were greeted, but after they sucker you in, that's it. The Tom Yum was too salty, they don't make Som Tum (a Thai staple!!), service was sub par at best. We ordered Pork with basil, the waitress came back 10 minutes later and said they do not serve pork so they substituted it with chicken. It was horrible. The chicken was so over cooked it ended up being chicken jerky with some horrible sauce, the basil was burned and beyond edible. The fresh spring roll was too dry with very little shrimp and the accompanying sauce was bitter. We had to ask for peanut sauce, and even that was peanut butter in a dish not a sauce!! Terrible!! Our vacation was going good until we came to this restaurant! I apologized to my wife, daughter, and Aunt and was embaressed that I brought them here. My wife is Thai and was in complete shock of the service and food. Needless to say, we will NEVER come back to Rain!! If I could give negative stars, I would!! Rain Rain Go Away!!

If you're looking for Thai food in Chattanooga, this is your best option. It has a good selection of dishes. The restaurant gives an ambiance that helps it live up to its name. If you go with a group, the tables in the center of the restaurant sit big groups comfortably. The lunch prices are a bargain and the service is decent.
(4)Michael R.
Really good. I love the spring rolls and spicy tuna rolls!
(5)Trish B.
The yellow curry was very good! Great service... the "rain room" is great! Casey was a great waitress!
(5)Darren B.
Great Thai food. I have never had a bad meal here. My favorites are the dumplings, Thai curry and sticky rice.
(4)Dave P.
Food.... this isn't really Thai Food. I mean we ordered two different noodle dished (Pad Si Ew and the Spicy Basil) and first of all the noodles aren't your typical "Thai Noodles" that should accompany these dishes! Ehhh, so keeping in mind that this is chattanooga, I'd say this is probably your "Americanized version of Thai food". The decor and service was actually very nice, they have a fun water fall type fountain in the walls and a nice ambiance about the place. Our server was also nice, smiled a lot and was attentive. I just can't get over the noodles. I'd never order them again, and I think that speaks for itself. This really is the quintessential 2 stars "Meh. I've experienced better."

We went to Rain for dinner to continue trying new places in Chattanooga as we just moved here. My wife ordered the fried fish, red snapper in a ginger sauce. The presentation was okay nothing spectacular and it was heavily loaded with peppers and onions. The flavor was fine but nothing outstanding. It was one of the higher priced items on the menu and in retrospect not worth the price. I ordered a soup with chicken and mushrooms, it was great lots of flavor and would order it again. I also ordered the dumplings. They were mediocre at best and my thoughts are that they were frozen. Finally, I order sushi, the spider roll. It had to be the world's smallest spider roll and consisted of about 5 small pieces. The flavor did not leave much of an impression and was soon forgotten. The decor was great and very cool looking. There were a lot of staff hanging around and they could have done a better job keeping the place clean, sweeping, etc. Also, it's time for new menus, the menus were stained and torn, with items scratched off or new prices overwritten. I'm sure we'll give this place another chance in the future. For now the hunt continues.
(2)Rose D.
I believe this is the best Thai in Chattanooga. It isn't very spicy (in the hot sense) but it is very tasty. I had the Spicy Basil Noodles and I was very pleased. The restaurant also has a nice atmosphere.
(4)Kush S.
Good food and service, a bit on the expensive side but a decent place in chattanooga to have. You should try it, but if your looking for excellent food try out Thai smile in downtown.
(4)Matthew P.
Surprisingly good. Up there with some of the better Thai food in NYC. No kidding. Nice atmosphere, friendly service, good bar, and really tasty food. The spring rolls are delicious and I had the Thai Basil Chicken. Moderately spicy and authentic.
(4)Jennifer W.
I met some friends here for dinner on a Saturday night. We were seated right away in the "rain room" (very interesting decor and sunken tables). Just about everything on the menu could be ordered vegetarian (or not) and they offer 3-4 different levels of spiciness for each dish. We ordered the spring rolls (fried) to start (6 rolls to an order). They were good - they tasted like any other decent spring roll I've had, but nothing unique to this place. We each ordered a different entree so that we could taste multiple dishes. The yellow curry was delicious and the pad see ew was also very good. Our server was nice, but our water glasses did go dry more than once for quite a while each time. Overall, I would definately eat there again!
(4)Chester R.
was in town for a night on business and the hotel recommended this place, it was a great time. we ate at the sushi bar and tried a ton of different rolls and sashimi, and it was all really good....had a nice bottle of wine, and some sapporo. very friendly staff.....will definitely go back whenever I am in town there.

Had read of the good lunch specials available from Rain and decided on a lunch date the the wife today. Minus the empty beer cans and bottles inside the planters by the front door the decor was modern and was not over done. We were quickly seated and greeted by our waitress who returned with our drinks and when asked about the menu she seemed to be very knowledgable and was quick to make recommendations. I had eaten here once previously and when I described the dish the waitress was right on the money with order (Spicy Basil Noodles), even though it was not on the lunch menu. Food was fresh and had just enough spice to give it an enjoyable heat without destroying the dish. She Who Must be Obayed ordered the Basil Rolls and is addicted. While this might not be the most authentic Thai food, but you still will enjoy it. Also appears to be a good place for date night, might have to try it again one evening without the kids!
(4)Ross H.
The restaurant smells terrible an the food is average.
(2)Tommy K.
My oh my has this place went down hill! It used to be way ahead of any competition in the area, but they've since taken their eye of the prize. The sushi rolls are over 50% smaller than original, and twice out of the last 3 times they have burned the mayo on the volcano from not paying attention. That wouldn't be so bad if they made another batch, but they just throw it on there and serve it anyway. For what it's worth, the prices never really bothered me, and I would pay a little more not to have mini sushi served to me as if it's supposed to be the real thing. Finally, I haven't really tried any of the Thai food, but I'm definitely disappointed with the sushi menu.
(2)Jacqueline S.
Terrible service. Crap Thai food. Not as good as other places in the area. Not worth the money unless you get a lunch special but the last time I went the waitress changed my tip amount to give herself more money and I noticed the higher amount on my billing statement. I complained but nothing was done by management. I refuse to eat here again. Not only do they have dishonest employees, but their food sucks anyway.
(1)Mary C.
Finally...there is a place that still supplies some awesome service. Alison was our server and she was great. We ordered the Pad Tai and sushi- it was awesome and the prices were very reasonable. Ask for the 3 roll sushi special for $10!
(5)Dude D.
Very good food and atmosphere. Inexpensive for the quality.
(4)Sunil V.
Went to this place during the holidays, a friend suggested this place. They have a nice looking decor and interiors, the staff is very professional and attractive. Had the best tasting Yellow curry at this place. Really appreciate the chef who made this. Will love to be back at this place when I am in town. My friend ordered spicy fried rice and asked that to be made hot, The dish was very flavour full but you need a frozed tongue to be able to finish it entirely, Pity him..

Rain Thai Bistro 6933 Lee hwy. Rain has an impressive façade. One is greeted in an attractive foyer and offered seating in the large bar area with tables, some wood paneling and wall fountains (the Rain) or the restaurant with a line of booths leading to the open kitchen. The bar tables are small and wobbly. A table set for three could barely contain food for two. On another occasion, two tables had to be pushed together to accommodate the food (which necessitated getting up to reach the dishes on the far side). The bar area can be uncomfortably LOUD. The booths are comfortable. Service is friendly, but slow, especially if the bartender is also serving. We were not offered or given second glasses of wine or water. Rain has an extensive list of sushi/sashimi. So extensive I wonder how they can keep such a large inventory of fresh seafood. Perhaps a sushi maven can enlighten me. However, the Thai portion of the menu has pale yellow print on pale grey background, making it unpleasantly difficult to read. Appetizers ($7-11) run the gamut from adequate satay and chicken filled steamed dumplings to the ubiquitous egg/spring rolls. The vegetarian basil rolls were filled with shredded lettuce, a strip or two of cucumber and a single basil leaf. Their tastelessness was not enhanced by the soy sauce dip that was served instead the chili plum sauce. The usual soups are available as are a few salads ($7-14). The Talay (seafood) Salad contained previously frozen shrimp, squid and scallops and some shelled mussels which hadn't seen their homes in some time. The squid was chewy and tough and there was no evident lemongrass or chili. The decorative cilantro sprig was flaccid. The Spicy Basil Chicken ($12) had basil, but little spice ( I saw no fresh chilies.) The Pad Pik King ($12) had fuller, brighter flavors with noticeable tastes of fish sauce and lime. The Masamam (Muslim) Curry ($13) not only lacked heat, but did not have the complexity of spices and herbs for which the dish is known. Gone missing was the cashew garnish. This could have been nothing more then coconut milk laced with a bit of commercial red curry paste. Although an assortment (4) of condiments was provided, there were no fresh herbs or chilies. The only chili was canned jalapeño. None enhanced the dishes. I've yet to have a dish at Rain that I really liked or thought was impressively executed; I've had several disappointing dishes. I am interested in hearing what experiences others have had with Rain's sushi

Great Thai food. The price is a tad too much, but it is still worth the price. A good deal of options and sushi too boot. I would suggest going at lunch your first time. Better to get a feel for it without sending too much. If you love it, come back at night.
(4)Kenny T.
Our favorite Thai place around here. We always the the pad Thai mild and spicy tuna rolls. The fried vegetable dish as an appetizer is good too. They're good about fixing messed up orders and the service is usually great! Our friends like the garlic chicken and curry stuff
(4)Shelby C.
(3)Mikaela Z.

(5)Tanner V.
(5)Ellis H.
(4)Madi K.
Great food. A little expensive, but you can easily eat off of one meal twice. Get ready for leftovers!
(4)Sheldon C.
(5)John J.
(2)Nicole H.

(3)Shawn W.
Where do I begin, the food is off the chain. All the plates in the picture are mine..lol I highly recommend this Bistros. The dessert(Fried bananas with honey) had me drooling.
(5)Chuck T.
This is one of the best Asian restaurants I love the food I eat at the bar when I'm.there ..if.you get in Chattanooga come here.
(4)Otis P.
Very good. Not huge portions for lunch but plenty. Ahhh for brown rice else it comes with white. Very good atmosphere. Great waiter.
(5)Hillary S.

(2)Atlanta F.
(1)Stuart W.
Met friends. I had sushi (ok) and would not go back for this. Everyone else had Thai food. This food looked good and my wife said the green curry was very good, calling the food fresh tasting. Rated my impression of their food.

Good ambience !! Food is tasty. Variety that you can't resist. I found the sitting arrangement is not quite good. Tables are small. They are good for 2/3 persons.
(4)Darlene R.
(5)T D.

Love Thai Rain! Great vegetarian options too~! If you like spicy, ask for thai spicy which is still not the most spicy you've tried but still very good :)

I just can't get over the noodles. I'd never order them again, and I think that speaks for itself. This really is the quintessential 2 stars "Meh. I've experienced better."

The restaurant smells terrible an the food is average.

Finally...there is a place that still supplies some awesome service. Alison was our server and she was great. We ordered the Pad Tai and sushi- it was awesome and the prices were very reasonable. Ask for the 3 roll sushi special for $10!

Very good food and atmosphere. Inexpensive for the quality.

Good thai for cheap.....cool atmosphere.....good service in off hours......my 4 yr old liked it so it gets four stars......wifey likey.....

Great sushi!!!! prices are a little higher than some other local places.

Two of the waiters I've had were very rude throughout the whole service. They complained about not tipping enough when I tipped already and they gave attitude. Never comes to table when called. Food is getting more salty.

was in town for a night on business and the hotel recommended this place, it was a great time. we ate at the sushi bar and tried a ton of different rolls and sashimi, and it was all really good....had a nice bottle of wine, and some sapporo. very friendly staff.....will definitely go back whenever I am in town there.

The other reviews are correct, the food is good but not 100 percent Thai. Is it a good place to grab some noodles? yes

Five stars for the sushi - the best I have had in town by far!! Honestly can't speak for the Thai food because I always get sushi. But very good wine selection (plum wine!) and the sashimi quality have made me a loyal customer. Definitely recommend.

They messed up me and my husbands dinner. We ended up waiting for almost an hour to come out. The Thai basil wasn't good. It was very bland and un seasoned. So our overall Experience wasn't pleasant. But it was beautiful atmosphere

(5)Rose D.
I believe this is the best Thai in Chattanooga. It isn't very spicy (in the hot sense) but it is very tasty. I had the Spicy Basil Noodles and I was very pleased. The restaurant also has a nice atmosphere.

Good food and service, a bit on the expensive side but a decent place in chattanooga to have. You should try it, but if your looking for excellent food try out Thai smile in downtown.

Surprisingly good. Up there with some of the better Thai food in NYC. No kidding. Nice atmosphere, friendly service, good bar, and really tasty food. The spring rolls are delicious and I had the Thai Basil Chicken. Moderately spicy and authentic.

(2)Keri M.
Best Thai food in Hamilton Place....and the best for your money in Chattanooga in general. The curries are great and so is the Spicy Thai Basil. Since our group of friends is so big we like going here b/c they are pretty good with large groups.
(4)Jamie J.
