We went here tonight thanks to a tip. First impression upon entering is that it is smoky as heck. Funny how that used to be so common. Even at Chili's. But now it is strange. Didn't bother us, though. They make their own beer and it is excellent. You can see the vats (or whatever you call the giant containers that hold the beer) to your left immediately upon entereing. A true microbrewery, right? Wife got the light beer and I got the sampler. We decided to split a reuben and their onion rings. OUTSTANDING sandwich and the rings were the best I've had in my life. A great band was playing tonight. Johnny B Band? They did a great version of Rocky Top which brought in the tips. Also played stuff from B.B. King to Hank Williams. Overall, this is a top-notch neighborhood bar/restaurant.

Being a brew kinda gal leads me to all sorts of places. McHale's being one of them. I have been visiting bars, dives, and hole-in-the-wall, surly but delightfully questionable establishments since I was a wee tot. Consider it a family tradition. Somehow McHale's has a funny way of making me nostalgic for those younger days! I have been several times and have enjoyed speaking with whoever's running the keep each visit. I had the pleasure of ordering fish & chips once, and was blown away by the tartar sauce. The tartar sauce!! I was able to have a nice philosophical conversation with the head o' the house about what makes a proper tartar sauce. All while sipping on one of the most fabulous reds I've ever drank. The Scottish. Let me tell you that the Scottish is one of the finest beers around. Period. I heart this beer. It's crisp, sharp, with a slight acid tang that isn't overwhelming and a pure delight to send down the gullet. I enjoy every last drop of this stuff! While the atmosphere is...intriguing...it shouldn't detract you from trying one of the best micro breweries in Chattanooga!

This is a Scottish pub. However, my waitress also said it was a Irish type pub too. And rightly so, as you walk in there are letters above the bar that say "Luck of the Irosh". I was impressed. McHales has house brews which include the following; mudslinger, Scottish pride, Dixie blonde, bloody IPA, stout, and clementine. The clementine is a seasonal beer and could be one of my favorites of Mchales. Now, they have growlers for $16 and you can bring them back to refill them for $11. I got the Scotch Eggs and they were unbelievably delicious. It comes with house mustard on the side. It is actually a boiled egg which is wrapped in sausage. They also have a pool room to the right inside which viewable from the pub side. It's location is about a half mile from the main road.
