We went to Fresh Pot the first week it opened. It has been a favorite to take friends and family to as well. The shrimp and grits are amazing. If you are looking to support a local restaurant and enjoy a good hole in the wall place, this is the right place. The family who runs it is super sweet as well.

The owners are from Ecuador. For a real treat, ask them to prepare a traditional Ecuadorean meal. Food quality is excellent.

Shrimp and Crispy Grits was absolutely fantastic!

My husband and I visited this cafe after reading the rave reviews. We're both vegetarians, so we ordered the vegetarian plate. The plantains and kale salad were tasty, but the yucca and hominy (white corn) were tasteless. I also ordered corn on the cob. That was overcooked, mushy, and also tasteless. As for the cost, two veg plates and two drinks plus tip cost us $40 dollars. I have no doubt that the non-veg dishes were good, as the reviews claim. But for us non-meat-eaters . . . well . . . we won't go back.

If you are reading this you are one of the few in Chattanooga that knows this place exists, and a much smaller group that has considered eating here. This is a must go spot if you are looking for something very special and unique. We were in Hixson and wanted a good solid lunch but didn't want the normal chain experience when we found this place on Yelp so we decided to give it a try. I will not make you wait until the end to say this place is fantastic. The family is from Ecuador and the food is authentic. The cafe is small but don't let the size scare you away because what it lacks in size it makes up for in quality of food and service. Though small it is very nice and I could not help but notice the 100 perfect score given by the health department. One look in the kitchen and you will know why. It was spotless. My wife and I both ordered one of their specials with me going for the Ecuadorian Pork dish and she ordered a flat steak. We also splurged and had some crispy plantain appetizer which was also very good and fresh. Both of our entrees were very good with fried plantain as one of the sides. Then to cap it off we got a Creme Brûlée' for dessert. Over all it was a very special place and we highly suggest you dine here as well. Great service, nice people and a dining experience that can't be mass produced by a chain.

I still consider myself new to this area so I'm still learning about the various restaurants. This place seems slightly off the beaten path, but a great find. They have a mix of Ecuadorian food and "everything else" including chicken parmesan and other non-Ecuadorian choices. I had the spicy shrimp sandwich with a side of fruit and it was really good. The service was pretty good and everybody seemed very nice. My food did take some time to come out and I was the last one eating at the table, but it was not that bad of a wait. Will come back to try other menu items.

Fresh and delicious!! Especially the epicurean meal with tender pork and sweet plantains.

Shrimp and (Crispy) Grits are some of the best I've had ... and I eat a lot of shrimp and grits! And the Ecuadorian specials are all really good as well. I had the Pork Fritada. If you like spicy food, be sure to ask for a dish of the dipping sauce (sort of like a salsa). Has some good heat and goes well with just about everything! My wife had the Coconut Salmon and she said the salmon was cooked perfectly.

We were driving through Chattanooga and wanted something to eat a little out of the ordinary and decided to stop here. We were pleasantly surprised with our choice! We got the sweet plantain appetizer and the pork Ecuadorian special and we're not disappointed. The plantains were wonderful with their fresh pico, and the entree was wonderful as well. My only complaint was that the pork was a little dry, but the waitress gave us some Ecuadorian hot sauce that really complemented the meat well. The waitress was very helpful and kind. This was a great place to eat!

Seek this place out! Greeted with a smile. Very clean & friendly. Really tasty. Started with Yucca and plantain appetizers. Went with the shrimp & grits entree. WOW. Very attentive wait staff. Kitchen & bathroom were spotless...not a deal breaker but important (I eat fast-food, food trucks in alleys, nachos at ball parks). Ended with the creme brûlée. Definitely on the list now for go-to tastiness when hunger kicks in!

I've had lunch here several times since they have opened and am already a loyal customer. The food prepared here tastes really fresh and original, with a quiet, clean, and appealing atmosphere. They are a casual lunch and dinner restaurant with a cafe feel and "dressed up/upscale" menu items like crispy shrimp and grits, new york strip steak, hoki fish, create your own sandwich/salads, and many others. Their hours (from their facebook) are Mon - Sat: 11:00 am - 9:00 pm and Sun: 11:00 am - 7:00 pm, and they are located in the Hixson plaza with CiCis and Planet Fitness. The owners are very nice and helpful, and you will not be disappointed! I love unique small businesses like this one and hope they are here to stay.
