Bluegrass Grill Menu

The food was overall pretty solid. I'm not a huge fan of whole wheat biscuits, but theirs was pretty good. The grits were on point. This place gets busy on weekends and if the line is out the door just get in it and wait. There isn't really a hostess and they don't take names. We waited 45 min on Saturday, I'm not sure it was worth the wait.

Great food at a great price. Nothing out of the norm, but good quality food. Very small but I am sure the line is worth the wait. I dont give many 5 star reviews but this place was great. Every bite was good and the price is perfect. If you are local make a regular trip and if you are from out of town it is perfect for you or the family. I recommend the French Toast, very good.

Simply amazing! Can't go wrong with anything on their menu. great service, friendly staff, my two year old even got a basket full of toys as soon as we sat down so that was very helpful to keep her distracted.

One of the best in Chattanooga for breakfast and lunch! A popular place with a friendly atmosphere. Expect a crowd at peak times. Food is worth waiting for. Hot and fresh with the best flavors. Fairly priced, large portions. Owned and operated by a hard working family who actually enjoy serving their customers.

Fun vibe, great food! Plenty of options for vegetarians or picky eaters.

Love this place and the service is wonderful! Yes, if you go during regular breakfast hours you will have to wait. Its NOT fair to give 3 stars because of the wait if the service is excellent. Family run business and it has a very warm feel to the place. Food is top notch. If you look, even the drinks are good brands and they do not cut corners anywhere which translates to wonderful quality/taste. And yes, you can taste the difference! Everything is good, but definitely get the Jalapeno bacon!

So when we got to the place, there was a line. That's a good sign when you're talking about breakfast. We waited for about 20 minutes before grabbing a seat. Not too bad, we were ok with waiting. The servers didn't appear to be slacking at all, it was just packed. Bluegrass had a country, southern kitchen vibe to the decor. Which I loved. They have mismatched coffee mugs which add to the home vibe. Our waitress was super nice and attentive even though they had a line out the door. I ordered coffee of course and the veggie omelet sub egg whites with no olives. I had grits and home fries for my side items then decided to add wheat toast. The food came out in about 10 minutes which was fast considering the crowd. I ate my food like a wild person. Everything was sooooo good. Soooooo yummy. The omelet was perfect, couldn't have done it better myself. The home fries were crisp and the grits were hot and creamy. I will be back....any time I come to Chattanooga. To put the icing on the cake, turns out its a family run business and their first restaurant was Brother Juniper's in Memphis, TN. Which i absolutely loved while I was in college. Amazing experience. Now off to Ruby Falls!

Ooooooooh yeah. That's the stuff. I popped in this morning around 8:00 am to grab a sandwich before my flight. NOTE - the Chattanooga Airport has very limited food options, mostly vending, although the staff are very sweet. Bring your own snacks - and sit at the snack bar to charge your phone. The staff at Bluegrass were very friendly and efficient, and they had a sandwich order out in 10 minutes. I was afraid they may not have sandwich stuff ready in the a.m. I couldn't wait for my lunch, and I started to devour the turkey double decker as soon as I checked in. YUUUUUUUM! Everything is so fresh. The homemade 5 grain bread is delicious. The bacon is CRISP! The potato salad is perfect - with a hint of mustard even. I'm truly impressed and grateful that the timing worked out for me to stop in for an order. This place is a gourmet farm-to-table experience at greasy spoon pricing. Perfect.

If we lived in Chattanooga we would go here every week. This family owned restaurant was fantastic! The staff were hustling and so efficient. They were friendly and got you orders in. There is a wait but that is bc it sooo good. There is no hostess to wait on you. As you get to the front and a table clears they seat you. We wanted to try everything on the menu. The pancakes were excellent. Also ordered a biscuit sandwich, grits, hot tea, coffee. We were happily full when we left. This place is worth it and I highly recommend it. Just loved the staff and enjoyed watching them bustle around. They bust their tails but are friendly, helpful and have delicious food. Love supporting local and love supporting family owned!! A must visit!

Oh man I am so stuffed! The hickory smoked Cajun turkey and cranberries and goat cheese in a quiche, is not a combination that I would have ever thought to put together. Let me tell you though it really works! The twang from the goat cheese is just phenomenal with the sweetness of the cranberries and spicy Cajun turkey! No to mention its a really cool place, very laid back and comfy. Come by and see Greg and his family for good coffee and great breakfast

Great little place for breakfast. Supposedly known for their biscuits but I thought they were a little hard.

It took me a while to actually write my review because I very rarely give five stars. So after my third visit here it was time to bite the bullet. We showed up at 9:00 AM with one family in line before us. No long wait even when I said "Seven adults and three children" They did not even bat an eye. The four top tables have flip out edges to make them round and we easily fit nine chairs around one. Place was packed as usual but service is so friendly and these folks hustle. You are not going to get in and out of here quickly as everything is cooked to order and worth the wait. The homemade biscuits are....wait, let me do this right. My first time here I took my son's advice and ordered the corned beef hash. AMAZING. It just cannot get better than this. Perfectly poached eggs and the hash was fresh and incredibly good. The homemade biscuits are so fluffy and the best I have ever had that my grandmother did not make OK, I will say it, better than grandmas. My second visit I could not help myself and ordered the corned beef hash again (they have three other hash varieties but I am a man of habit.) Today I ordered the biscuits and gravy with sausage. Best gravy ever with large chunks of excellent sausage. Let me repeat that the gravy is the best I have ever had. When you put that goodness all over THESE biscuits something magical happens. You know what is wrong with the Bluegrass Grill? They are closed on Mondays. ..........Hey sweetheart.......are you going to eat that biscuit????

Get the grits!!! Oh my gosh they are do good! The service was excellent. Over the top excellent.

Cute little place that looks family owned and run. Yes it is father n son cooking and sis doing the serving. She is so cute and spunky. Bouncing around from table to table always with a smile. Now the food was really good. I had the chicken sausage with asiago cheese and spinach quiche. All with 4 cheese grits and fresh ripe fruit. The whole place has a real homey feel. You really do feel like family when you are here. I will return every morning I'm here in town. This place is a bright shining light of my morning. Oh yea they have really good coffee too.

  • Matthew S.

Honestly, I don't go to this place enough considering the fact that I live 9 minutes away and work 3 minutes away. Family run, super nice, very fast, and creative yet simple recipes. Last time I was in I sat at the bar and a member of the family was my server. THAT is awesome. Time before that was a girl named Taylor. Attentive, fast, and got our order out quickly and perfectly even though it was crazy busy. Love this place. You have to check it out. And get the biscuits. Did you read this after you ordered? Order the biscuits to go. I'm serious.

Celebrated 54 years of marriage with breakfast in this fun place. Pancakes with fresh blueberries and sweet Georgia peaches and the best service in town.

Delish! I've been wanting to try this place as I've heard nothing but wonderful things. There is always a line though out the door. Today was the day I decided I would wait as long as I had to. Well, we waited about 20 minutes and then were seated. Loved the atmosphere and the ambiance and the way the staff (who turns out to be all related) seemed very happy to be there. We got a cinnamon roll to share (ok, I ate most of it) while we waited for our food. I ordered the corned beef hash with a biscuit and side of gravy. It comes with an egg, and I always get my eggs over-easy. BF got a meat omelet. My corned beef hash was super good. Big chunks of potato and the hash wasn't really hash, it was big chunks of corned beef. The gravy on it made it super yummy for me. Finally a place that has gravy that tastes like someone really made it, not just made a mix from powder. I was impressed. Will definitely be back.

I loved this place. Great food, Great prices, and great people. This is a small family owned dinner with a real homey feel. Lots of vegetarian/vegan options. Commendable staff! Seating is limited so expect a slight wait time, but I assure you it will be worth it. They did run out of tofu closer to closing time, so I recommend getting there early. I believe on Saturdays they close by 1PM. There is lots of free street parking near by as long as you are willing to walk a 1/2 block or so. - Home made hot sauces. - Interesting furniture - Great food - Great staff - Fair prices - extensive menu.

Yum yum yummy! Found this on yelp and decided to head here for breakfast with my boyfriend and young son. We really enjoyed it. There is a little bit of a wait when first arriving but so worth it and everything goes pretty fast. Service is good and food is delicious. If we are ever in the area again we would definitely be back!

I just had to try their corn beef hash. It was amazing My husband had the gyro plate and he says it was good as well. I am not a gyro fan so I can't rave about it. .I was fortunate that I did not have a long wait

Everyone's shoutin in there. It seems like a big family is coming together. There is a short-ish young woman who seems to know every local by their first name. But seriously, very nice folks. I understand why the South has a reputation of great hospitality (most of the times). I had a gorgeous hash that tasted so fresh, so nice, was so well seasoned and enjoyable. My wife ordered the chorizo special (P3) which I finished. Five stars for that, too. Next time we're in Choo Choo town, we'll come back.

Having brought patrons here in my business for some time, I thought it was time to try it out. Entering the place on a Tuesday morning around 9am, I found the place busy with hungry visitors from families to business professionals; all enjoying a morning meal. The place is jus of Market Street in a decades old business district that is now part of the city's revitalized South Side. The menu is full of great choices for all palettes but for me, it was the Corned Beef hash and potatoes. It was a wonderful mixture of red potatoes, Swiss cheese, corned beef and green onions. Topped with a fried egg and a whole grain biscuit, it was delicious! Come for breakfast or lunch but not too late as they close at 2pm. I will definitely be back. Maybe we'll see you there!

  • Issac M.

Probably the best breakfast I had rolling through TN. Good simple food. The cinnamon roll was pretty good. Coffee was surprisingly good as well. Not the best I've ever had but definitely good. I was a little disappointed with my grits. I read reviews talking about cheese grits but i guess they dont come with breakfast meals... Only the plain bland ones come standard. Idk maybe that's normal out here so no ding for that. I'd be a regular there if I lived out there.

This family owned gem has not only some of the best food (breakfast and otherwise), but the best service you'll find! It's always worth the wait!

This is one of my favorite breakfast places in Chattanooga. You have to try the breakfast burrito, the jalapeño bacon, and the big cinnamon roll.

  • Coffee S.

I simply have to say this is one of the best breakfast places I've ever eaten at. The corned beef hash is to die for. I mean, it literally may kill you. It is huge and super filling. But awesome! They make every part of it from scratch.

  • Marta H.

My boyfriend and I stopped in Chattanooga overnight because that was our half way point from Chicago to Florida. Before getting back on the road early in the morning we decided to get something to eat. He looked online at what looks good and has a good rating and stumbled onto this place! Was I glad we stopped here! We had to wait about 20 min to be seated because the place is small and very crowded but it's absolutely worth it!!! The people there are very nice and the waitress we had was a very sweet lady! It looks like the staff is proud of their work and that just makes the whole experience that much better. The food was so tasty and if I wasn't so full I would have wanted to try everything on that menu! I loved the coffee mugs that they served coffee in! I will definitely stop here every time I pass through Chattanooga!

I've been a customer of the Worshams' going back to their Memphis days at Brother Juniper's. They make the most consistently good food of any place I've ever been. Yes, the place is always busy. There are myriad reasons for that, all of them good.

    (5)
  • Maria S.

Great service! Biscuits and omelettes are the best!!! Minor complaints: does get really busy really quick there isn't a lot of seating space. They usually run out of biscuits during the last two hours. If you want good food go with the biscuits and omelettes. Everything else is just ok.

  • Aaron J.

Some of the best breakfast I've had. That omelet with the gyro meat...GTFO.

  • Anita G.

Yummy breakfast. Though the line was out the door, it only took about 20 minutes to be seated. You just wait your turn until there's a table available. Great corned beef hash with a poached egg on top. Super service even though it was super busy. Our coffee cups were never empty. Go, you won't be disappointed.

    (4)
  • Robert M.

Seriously some of the best breakfast you can have. Great food, large portions. Good coffee. Fast service. the only bad thing is the place is super small, so wait times may be large unless you go early

Great place with awesome food and extremely friendly staff. Used to eat here all the time when I lived in Chattanooga.

  • Mia B.

We knew there would be a wait. Still was annoying to wait forever in line. You don't put your name in, you just stand there.) A couple of people came out saying "fantastic food!" so I felt good about that. Coffee was good. Omelette sucked. It was thin and had that "wet dog" smell it gets when you cook eggs too hot. Potatoes and biscuit were fine, but I guess I was expecting more than your run of the mill diner. Absolutely nothing special about the ambiance nor the food here.

    (2)
  • Chuck P.

9:00 am on a Tuesday and this place is on a wait! It's a locals place, lots of morning business meeting going on. Ambiance was quaint but noise level was REALLY high. Service was good. Food was good. Neither was great, but good. Restroom (one unisex) was clean.

  • Guilherme G.

Family operated breakfast place with delicious food. The lines at the door don't lie, this is more than a restaurant, is a comfort food heaven. Omelets, bacon, pancakes, hash, coffee, tea, juice... all excellent! It is a no-brainer to start your day the best way.

  • Richard E.

Our #1 choice for breakfast! Great food. Very friendly staff. Busy, but they handle their guests well. We have become "regulars". No longer need a menu.

  • Michael G.

Been twice for breakfast. Excellent food (get at least one of the carbs), fast and friendly service. Everything is well priced. Try the coffee as well, it is better than some local shops. I've ears good things about the lunch, but have yet to make it in.

    (5)
  • Chad P.

Today I was turned away from the door by a hostess who could have cared less if we were standing there or if we ever came back. I don't think I've ever turned a customer away at any restaurant job I've ever had. To say I was blown away, would be an understatement. That was one of the most embarrassing and rude moments ever. If you are going to turn people away maybe you could do it a little more gently. Rude!

I was in Chattanooga for a week on business. After the first time I went, I ended up there every day for breakfast. It was that good. If I could, it would be where I go every day for life.

  • Shawanda M.

Once a week, I always find myself here. Bluegrass is pretty small so if you go during peak hours, you'll have to wait in line but it generally moves pretty fast. The staff is always nice the food is good and reasonably priced. One of my favorite things ever from Bluegrass is the homemade apple butter. It. Is. So. Good. I can't even explain it in words. I think one of the owners makes it and I always try to get there early before they run out of apple butter. They haven't had any recently due to the owner recovering from surgery but as soon as she's back, I'm definitely asking for apple butter. They have their own hotsauces too!

  • Sparkle T.

I absolutely adore Bluegrass Grill. The Glorious Grits has become, hands-down, my favorite item! Occasionally I'll branch out and get the special, or go back to my old standard of two eggs, toast, and a meat. But in the end, I'll always go back for those grits. (Did I mention I don't even LIKE grits?!? They have turned me into a believer.) The entire family is sweet and nice as can be. Even though I don't get to go as often as I'd like, they all remember you and treat you as if you were the only customer on the floor. One of these days, I'm going to swing by for lunch. But as for breakfast, get there early! Space fills up quick...because it's so dang good!

Decided to try breakfast here after reading all the reviews. It was ok. Daughter had ham and cheese omelet that was very good. Wife had Greek frittata and she enjoyed it. I had the smoked salmon frittata and it was ok. Herbed cream cheese was too much on it and salmon was very salty. The biscuits were really good. Service was great. The place was very busy at around 8 am. Would eat there again.

wonderful breakfast and tasty jalapeno smoked bacon. Tasty and family owned.

  • Cynthia N.

I came here for a late morning breakfast on Saturday morning and was able to snag a seat at the bar. It was about 11:30 and the restaurant was full, but people were coming and going, so I think a wait might have been 30-40 minutes at the most. I ordered buttermilk pancakes, fried eggs and bacon - lots of bacon, so much bacon that the vegetarians sitting next to me said the only thing they missed was bacon. This place is great for vegetarians - they have a lot of no-meat dishes, including tasty-looking quiches, and they have soy meat options as well. They had a lot of variety in their food menu, really interesting pairings/flavors that I would have tried if I'd not been so keen on having breakfast. And my meal was good - tasty and hot, and the service was pretty good too. This is definitely a regulars/locals kind of place based on the banter of a lot of customers with the servers at the pay station next to the bar. And I liked the way everyone worked together to get things done. No one was huffy or irritated, making it a pleasant experience to be there.

Food does not have to be fancy for me to to give it five stars but it does have to be perfect. After reading the reviews here on Yelp, we got off the interstate on our way back from Florida to search for this establishment . We passed it a couple of times, because you can't see the signage until you are practically on top of it. I can just say that the reviews are not exaggerating, the food was delicious. I ordered the black bean chili breakfast burrito, with home fried potatoes and my husband ordered the meat and cheese omelette and he chose the Jalapeño bacon and cheddar cheese. For dessert we ordered the cinnamon roll that the reviews raved about. I was full half way through the meal, but I could not stop eating because of the flavor. I kept asking my husband how do they do it? The potatoes were crisp on the outside and moist and tender inside, and seasoned to perfection. The salsa had a bite, but not so as to hide the flavor and the bacon was magic. How do they get that smokey jalapeño taste? The cinnamon roll seemed to have been baked that very moment, fresh, warm, tender, with just the right amount of sweetness. If you are in the area, go for breakfast or lunch. The food is perfect.

Well done Had Mediterranean omelet and salmon omelette - wheat biscuits, turkey sausage - homemade hot sauces (2-3 of them) Excellent Service a little short handed and big line when we left No reservations - first come first serve Loved it !!

One of the very few breakfast places in downtown. Was recommended by our hotel. Waited about 30 mins to get a seat. WORTH IT. The menu is decent. The food was great. The service was fantastic. While waiting for our table they brought out a tray of coffee for everyone. The biscuit that came with our meals was different but great (esp. with honey!). We were also brought some gravy in case we wanted to turn it into a biscuit with gravy. Omelette and burrito were great, coffee is great, will definitely swing by here again next time I'm in Chattanooga.

Found this place on yelp while visiting Chattanooga. It's a great little place. Excellent service and fantastic food. You can feel the sense of community on here. The food is made is love and it's the best honey wheat pancakes this side of the Mississippi.

Awesome breakfast. Fresh. Great selection. Many healthy options. And all with very personable and attentive service.

  • Lauren P.

Two words: Glorious Grits. This delicious bowl of brunch goodness made my tummy happy. Perfectly prepared creamy grits are served swimming beneath toppings of spinach, sweet peppers, two types of cheeses and BACON! I ate every bit of it. For the vegetarians out there, y'all can opt for avocado instead of bacon. For me - the Glorious Grits had everything I was looking for on a wintry morning in Chat-town. Note - they won't seat y'all past 2 p.m. on Saturday afternoon. Either get there early or be prepared as the wait can be a bit long for brunch...but heck it was worth it! The young lady serving us was prompt and friendly, plus my sweet tea was never empty. I'd go back for sure!

Why go to a chain when you can enjoy this place for a friendly smile and amazing food. If you are in Chattanooga this is a must try for breakfast. Great atmosphere too!

  • Daniel L.

If you are used to giving your name, getting a wait time and being seated. . . Then walk away. Your idea of 'norms' will be shaken. You watch someone leave and pay and next in line takes that table before it is even cleared. Once seated service is friendly, but a bit inconsistent. The food was home cooked and good, but nothing to write home about. My sons pancakes were yummy.

  • K. P.

So good, homemade food old fashioned style, not full of junk. Vegetarian and vegan friendly. Awesome biscuits! Service is almost always impeccable. The only thing is the crowd on Saturday mornings and the potential wait. I wish they did dinner and Sundays...Love it overall!

  • Lindsey D.

Breakfast food here was very good and the service (once seated) was friendly. The place is small and no one greets you when you come in. (We were there on 2 separate occasions). There's no hostess stand or even a sign that says "wait here for the next table". Just a bench. When a table is cleared you just go for it according to who was there first. The food was really good and our orders came quickly. I was glad that the side of fruit wasn't just a bunch of melon. The cheese grits were tops! Sad to say the coffee was just commercial grade. But at least it was hot and fresh!

We always try to hit this place up when in Chattanooga. Breakfast is always good. Tried the Greek today. It was awesome. Place is very busy though. So don't be in a hurry. With the wait. Service is great. Good has always been good. People are nice. Nice to see civil people. You come in and don't have to take a number or leave a name. You just wait your turn. It works well. Thanks Chattanooga.

Stopped here on our way out of town and instantly loved the place! Funky, kid-friendly (complete with a communal basket of toys), veggie-friendly with a friendly and inviting staff. I had the cilantro tofu hash, whereas my daughter had the complete opposite with biscuits, gravy and sausage. Both were very fresh and homeade. My wife had an omlett and my other daughter a pancake. Everything was awesome. I loved having 3 choices of hot sauce (under the restaurant's brand name) to choose from. Awesome breakfast spot, and I imagine it probably gets crazy busy on weekends. Having lived in both Austin, Texas and in the San Francisco area, it has that funky, independent vibe that many places in those cities have (Asheville too). If we lived in Chattanooga, we'd eat here all the time. Just go!

I was really looking forward to trying this place out based on its Yelp! recommendation. We arrived around 830 on a Thursday morning and it was reasonably busy but just two parties waiting in front of us. We waited patiently for about 10 minutes while a couple of tables finished up and cleared out. Then we watched while 4 unbussed tables sat dirty for 15 minutes. Looking around we realized that the tables that had been sat more than 15 minutes ago were still waiting for drinks and had menus in front of them. Having now waited nearly 30 minutes when the place really wasn't that busy, we gave up and went up the street to Mean Mugs coffee shop and had a wonderful meal with no wait. I wish we could report on the food at this place but I will not be trying again.

  • Michelle W.

Great food! Cool location. Will have to wait awhile for a table but it's worth it. Hubby had the hash and I had omelette. Both were delicious. Their home fries are made with red potatoes and little garlic so tasty.

    (5)
  • Craig G.

Expensive and adequate. The dining room is tiny and they don't even take your name down so you'll have to fight to keep your place in line. The food was good and the service decent, but it's a trendy hipster place that's carried by it's popularity rather than its fare. It's just not worth the effort and money compared to all the other options in town, so I doubt I'd bother with a revisit.

We had breakfast at Bluegrass Grill this Saturday. On the plus side, they are consistent with their food and service. Meaning the food is good, not great. The servers are pleasant but always out of breath from rushing. They offer many interesting omelette options and the potatoes are very good. However, I don't understand why people line up to eat here. We had a 5 minute wait at 8am and that was fine. The biscuits and gravy were very pedestrian. Hardly any flavor to the gravy and the biscuits were thick and somewhat mushy (not flaky). Since I am a non coffee drinker I am very happy they offer iced tea. It's fresh and strong!

  • Cecil B.

Friendly, efficient, and the food was AMAZING. Great prices too! Highly recommend the black bean potatoes. Someone in the place ordered a cinnamon bun that was GI-NORMOUS. Looked like it'd feed 10 people. Staff seemed excited to work there.

We've been looking for new places to expand our assortment of places to head to for lunch. Today we picked the Bluegrass Grill. They are only open for breakfast and lunch, so if you take a late lunch you might be out of luck. They are primarily known for their breakfast foods and they have a pretty extensive menu covering a lot of my favorites, including some great looking omelets. Since I had eggs for breakfast and wasn't in the mood for more, I decided to check out their sandwiches menu and settled on a grilled reuben on wheat. It comes with potato salad and a kosher pickle. When it arrived, I thought it looked pretty good, a good portion of meat and very well constructed. It was hot, but not too hot. The potato salad portion was small, but also tasted very good. I was not disappointed in the food at all. My co-workers all ordered breakfast. It all looked (and smelled) good. I even got a little taste of the biscuits and gravy that one of my co-workers got... I'm definitely coming back here for breakfast! What I was disappointed in was that they server 12 ounce cans of soda for $1.00 each. I'm a pretty heavy soda drinker, so I like my refills from the fountain... I didn't like having to pace myself to make sure my drink lasted through the meal. That and a clueless server is what kept this from being five stars. Our server forgot to bring a drink and it had to be ordered twice. Then, when she brought the food, she had already forgotten who had what. It wasn't very busy and there were only four of us. Bluegrass Grill is in a neat old building and it's kept up well. There isn't a lot of seating space, so I imagine that if you go during peak times, there's one heck of a wait. Overall, it was a good experience. Great food... I will definitely head back this one for breakfast food sometime. I'm looking forward to it, actually! Warning: They do not accept American Express! That was another minor annoyance.

Wow! Amazing glorious grits, big portions, great service. A must visit next time I'm in Chattanooga.

A great recommendation from our dinner server, this was the place to go for breakfast. And we are so glad we did. It's a smaller diner styled place, seating is limited ,out wait wasn't long. Our food was served quickly. DOn't forget to get the Jalapaño Bacon! Service was great, prompt and friendly. Coffee kept flowing. AND HOT SAUCE!!!

Fantastic service and food!! Seating was 1st come 1st serve but was well worth the wait. The staff was very friendly and kept things moving so smoothly that the wait hardly felt long at all! They were also very accommodating to kids. While we were from out of town we'd definitely go here again next time we are passing through!

The food is good. Really good. Like really great good. There's a good variety of possibilities on the menu and the service is attentive without being disruptive. A couple of items to keep in mind: 1) as with any restaurant that has great food, there will be lots of folks that want to eat it. Bluegrass Grill isn't tiny but it on the small side & has limited seating. Expect to wait and don't be frustrated by it. 15 to 25 minutes is normal. 2) they do a great job of getting the orders and getting the food served, so tables flip regularly. 3) Sunday buffet brunch the last Sunday of every month. Reservations are REQUIRED.

Service was very slow. Took just over 2 hours for our party of four. Food was average--not worth the wait.

They seemed a bit overwhelmed even though we were the only ones waiting. Problem was a couple of tables sat there waiting for somebody to bring bill. Waitress hustled. They just seemed understaffed. Corned beef has was very good. All in all, solid and cheap breakfast.

This place is awesome! Discovered this little hole-in-the-wall on Yelp (thanks Yelp)! and am I ever so happy for it! The space is rather small... we visited on a Saturday morning around 10:30 and had to wait about 20 minutes. It's up to you to know your place in line (this part really isn't organized well but it works). We asked for coffee as we waited in line and the servers were more than happy to oblige. Once we were seated the couple next to us were just finishing. I heard one of them say "wow, that was awesome!" I asked what she had chosen and it was one of the daily specials. She continued to rave for about 5 minutes on the food as well as on a coffee shop they had discovered just down the street. Anyway, I chose the 2 egg scramble with home fries, green onions, cheddar, mushrooms... and a couple of pancakes on the side. Three words: BEST PANCAKES EVER! Even a friend who dined with me who doesn't care for pancakes absolutely loved them! They were thick and fluffy and cooked to perfection. There were three of us who dined for brunch and we all ended up splitting the pancakes. They were fantastic! I can't wait to return here on my next visit to Chatt town!

The Bluegrass Grill has good food but what I love most about it is the fact that it's local, independent, and family run. So if you are in Chattanooga head down to Main Street and don't worry about the line (because there will almost certainly be a line) and enjoy some good food in a good atmosphere. Note though that don't go on Sunday because they are closed.

Totally caught off guard with this one! This family owned and run restaurant is a gem for sure. I had the breakfast potato dish. The p5...gyro meat, tomato, feta and mozzarella. I added a sunny side egg on top. Delicious!!!

I thought everything here was fantastic until I saw the chef in an atrociously filthy apron coming out of the kitchen and into the main dining room area behind the register and microwaving the very same grits I had just ordered. What the??? I pointed this out to my best friend who tried to convince me that I was just seeing things. Since I hadn't gotten my grits yet, I told her that an easy way to test would be to scoop out some from the very middle as soon as they land on our table and see if that spoonful was much hotter than the rest and sure enough, that was the case. Not sure how scientific my theory is, but I saw what I saw and overall, I'm willing to bet good money that stuff is being microwaved left and right instead of being cooked to order. Lame. Still, I can't deny that the food was pretty darn tasty. They had a kickass french toast berry casserole that my friend ordered and that was simply scrumptious. Even my grits were smooth and delectable. But come on, if you're gonna cheat a little, why not be a little savvier about it and just move the microwave into the kitchen where we can't see it? No need to psych out weirdos like myself. Thanks!

Straightforward, no-BS breakfast food. Homemade granola and biscuits are highlights, along with omelets featuring locally-sourced ingredients. Good service, simple decor, and an efficient experience. On weekends the wait can be significant, so arrive 15 minutes before you'd like to be seated. Family owned and run, you'll often see brothers, sisters and kids running the front of the house.

The long line is more than worth it. I can't say I've ever had anything bad when I've eaten here, but I tend to lean to their mushroom egg scramble.

Love the atmosphere! Breakfast was delightful! Waitress was friendly and attentive. My son is a resident of Chattanooga and this is one of his favorite spots to eat breakfast. When out-of-town always try to eat where the locals eat.

Best wheat, buttermilk, white biscuits ever!! I had the veggie omelet and chose the herbed cream cheese as my cheese. The veggies were fresh and perfectly bursting inside. Good coffee. Local produce. My boy had the grits.. best grits Ive ever had! Yumm Yumm Yumm, if only I lived in Chattanooga, I'd be there every morning!

So good! I am a corned beef hash lover so I was a bit skeptical about the Portobello mushroom version...it was delicious! I am here from out of town on business, but you can bet if and when I make it back to Chattanooga, I will be sure to visit again for breakfast.

Some the best food I have had in the quiet little "local" known place, right off the Interstate,, about 5 minutes. The homemade grits with cheese, Awesome. Worth the trip. Friendly service and great food.

Best breakfast in Chattanooga. And they offer so many options for those of us who like our first meal of the day savory - fantastic frittatas, perfectly cooked potato skillets, an awesome grits bowl with veggies and cheese and spot-on corned beef hash. I've eaten there several times and never had a less than wonderful meal. They also provide great service. Yes, you may have to wait a while for a table on Friday and Saturday mornings. But once you're seated, you'll be visited promptly and often, with plenty of coffee and water refills. They know what they're doing and they make excellent food. If you don't feel like waiting, consider calling ahead and ordering take-out. I can say from experience that their hash and skillets travel quite well. You can view the full menu on their website.

One of my fav places in Chattanooga for breakfast, corn beef hash is the way to start here. I even like their pancakes nice place to have in Chattanooga.

Excellent brekky! Pass on the biscuits and gravy (too plain) and go for the frittata, pancakes, or omelette.

The wait was reasonable, 15 to 20 minutes. All seating was first come first serve and we ended up sharing a table with a couple from Connecticut. The food was very good, but we waited a full hour after ordering before it was delivered to the table and, honestly, none of the staff seemed overly concerned. Don't go if your on a schedule .

I live and work very close to Bluegrass and try to go as often as I can. Pros: - Awesome family running the place. - Great value - not a cheap breakfast place, but stacked portions. - Daily lunch specials, but you can get breakfast anytime. Cons: - Gets really busy sometimes, particularly Friday and Saturday mornings. The wait is never outrageous, though. Overall, best breakfast in Chattanooga. Favorites: - Mexican Salsa omelet, add jalapeno-bacon and avocado. - P3, add poached eggs (the dish really benefits from the eggs). - Corned Beef Hash is off the chain.

EXCELLENT! Great atmosphere, fresh & quality food, and very very reasonable prices. We travel from Indiana to Florida and back quite a bit, and we always make a point to stop in. Their breakfast has to be one of the best in the Midwest!

Breakfast was awesome. The wheat biscuits should be pictured on Yelp. Everything we ate was great, including my salmon frittata. The staff and the general environment are very welcoming and comfortable. They even have toys for the kids to play with. Beware, seating is limited.

I love this place....I was visiting Chattanooga for the night and decided to check this pace out. It was walking distance from the CHoo Choo really convient. The breakfast is different and amazing. The staff is so friendly and nice I would definetly return everytime I come to Chattanooga.

A small dining room usually means be patient waiting for a table. Once you get past that reality, our service was outstanding. We had our three boys with us (all 4 and under) and they brought various toys/games and a small plate of fruit and help appease them while we waited our our food. Our server was quick with coffee refills (very important to me) and the place at a lot of character. My wife enjoyed what was left of her French toast after our 1 year old devoured it. I would love to say how much I enjoyed my pancakes (always my first choice), but they were simply average. I would certainly go back and try one of their omelets or the French toast.

  • Brandon B.

Wow, this was a delicious breakfast! I had a cheddar cheese omelet with grits and a biscuit. My wife had one of the specials, french toast drizzled with chocolate sauce, peaches, and strawberries. We cleaned our plates and it kept us full until around 4! The service was very friendly. The only negative is that there was about a 15 minute wait outside where it was pretty humid and hot. This was about 10:00 on a Saturday morning. About 10 minutes to get the food. But the wait is well worth the food! Parking was easy in this area... it's not downtown where you have to pay.

My dad's been eating here every week for a couple years now, so when he offered to take me on my recent trip home, I couldn't turn it down. I second what Joshua said about being the best breakfast place in town. Fast, friendly, and fun atmosphere, with excellent food. I ordered a boring, typical breakfast: eggs, bacon, potatoes, and a biscuit. The bacon was crisp, and there was plenty of it (none of that '2 strip gyp' crap like at Denny's), and the eggs were just right. The potatoes were the star, easily some of the best breakfast potatoes I've had. And the biscuit was unexpectedly whole wheat, which I thought to be odd at first, but one bite sealed the deal for me. The only weak spot of the experience to me was the coffee, as it tasted like typical Dennys or Waffle House coffee; from a place like this, I'd really appreciate some flavor choices, and some better brews. However, this is far from a deal-breaker. Go here, you won't be disappointed.

The food was great, but we waited for 45 minutes for our food to come out after we ordered. They need another cook in the back!

All I'm gonna say- Get the cilantro-lime hash. You have no idea, but I do. It's scrambled with tofu, I got a fried egg to put on it because I'm like that. Buscuits are made with whole wheat so you feel like you're being healthy...okay not really. Coffee not worth writing home about. Family run and operated.

I have had the opportunity to travel to Chattanooga on a couple of occassions and the Bluegrass Grill has become my go to spot. The place is very busy and during the breakfast rush you can expect to wait to get a table. I have had the opportunity to try several dishes but I keep my recommendations strictly to the breakfast offerings. Like several other reviewers I have to strongly recommend the grits. The combination of cheese, spinach, peppers, and avacado makes this dish a great one. Surrounding the bowl is a plate of fresh fruit just to add to the expereince. I have also really enjoyed the hash the times I have ordred it. The owners strive to put out a strong product and consistently do. Please support this great independent business, you will be glad you did!

We stayed up all night just to make it to breakfast at this place before work, because their hours are terrible for non-morning people. As vegetarians we had to try it because of all its great reviews (and seeing it categorized as vegetarian). Being not morning people, it was really weird to see the morning crowd, mostly guys in suits, but we found a good safe corner in the back. I was actually a little disappointed by the menu, having the impression it was more vegetarian/vegan friendly than it actually was. We found the tofu hash and I had them make me a scramble with tofu rather than egg. I was really looking forward to vegetarian biscuits and gravy, which they did not have. The scramble and hash were good but small, the coffee was good and ingredients were great, fresh and healthy. I suggest anyone staying or living in Chattanooga give it a try, if they can get up early enough or make it on a Saturday (since like most of the South, everything is basically boarded up on Sundays, especially all the best food).

Best breakfast in town. Sometimes packed out and you have to wait, but always worth it. Their gyro is also really good and they usually have delicious specials and soups.

Top Notch! Every dish that I saw being served looked as high quality as mine. I'm not easily pleased (the curse of being raised in a restaurant), and I walked outta there completely satisfied, tase, portion, service, atmosphere...just a real nice place. The only tiny issue was they don't take AMEX (don't really blame them since AMEX gouges vendor fees...)

Great breakfast! Time it right to avoid longer wait. Great service. Breakfast is so easy, but often times done so wrong. This is done right. No disappointments. Priced right. Kids loved it.

Delicious pancakes. Great options for vegetarian/vegan. Tasty, hearty, home made cooking. Really nice family running the shop. We were there close to closing time and they asked if we wanted seconds to take home. Very sweet people.

Easily the best breakfast joint in Chattanooga. Just check out their menu online and you'll see. The biscuits are HUGE and the omelettes with cream cheese and herbs in them are spectacular.

Have eaten here several times, I wish I would have found this place sooner. Cute place, the breakfasts are awesome. Usually a short wait to get a table but it is worth it. I love the eggs and corned beef. Not your typical corned beef, this is chunks fried with potato and onions. YUM!! The biscuits are the best, super fluffy and big! The spinach and feta omelet was really good. Best place in Chattanooga for breakfast. My mom even said she loved it and it was worth it, that's saying something because she thinks eating out is a waste of money and everything is better when she cooks it..
