Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

We usually eat here 1-2 times per week! The staff are super friendly and the service is always superb! The quality of the food is very good. I recommend the Tilapia Tacos if you like fish! Or if not the Special Guadalajara is very good as well! I personally love the Pollo Picoso when I am in the mood for something spicy! In the 7 years I've been dining at this restaurant, I've never had a complaint. If you haven't gone yet, you definitely should!

I have given Amigo many chances - mostly because it was the only Mexican food establishment close to my old haunts in Chattanooga - but I was continually disappointed. The first time I went, I would have given it 4 stars, but each visit after got progressively worse to the point where I finally decided to stop going. Although you get massive portions for way cheap, the food is bland and greeeeasy, making it more akin to Taco Bell than actual Mexican food. The service is hit-or-miss: either so fast that you think the waiters want you out of the restaurant, or painfully slow. It's always bugged me that the majority of serves are white people while the actual Mexican folks are busing tables and behind the scenes. To end on a positive note, the fried ice cream is decadent! Best thing about Amigo, by far.

I've eaten at several of the local Amigo restaurants and I like this one for lunch. The service is very fast throughout the week; can't speak to weekends. I like the consistency of the menu and preparation between locations. Very good Mexican food (Mexican-American not TexMex style ) and great value for the price.

Ahhh...Nachos! I am not sure why...but nachos are my "go-to" when I order mexican food from a restaurant for the first time. I suppose the way I see it is...if you can mess up something as simple as nachos...chances are I will not be interested in your "Authentic" cuisine. This Amigos is pretty close to where I live...so I have been here a few times when the nacho craving hits. I normally order to-go, although I have dined in a few times. I can't say I am overly impressed with the service or atmosphere...but I have never had bad service here. One thing I do enjoy is...a few of their nacho dishes (and they have a decent selection of nacho choices) come with flour tortilla chips rather than corn tortilla chips...and its nice. The queso is decent here as well...but I love cheese so its hard to mess that up for me. I can't say I am a fan of their entire menu...the rellenos, the last time I had them, really lacked flavor. All in all ...I will continue to get my fix here for nachos...although better "authentic" mexican dishes can be had elsewhere. (And by authentic....I mean....amerixican...as we all know there is a serious lack of truly authentic mexican restaurants in the area)

Will not be going back. It's the same kind of mexican food you find anywhere. The reason I'm not going back is that I sat with an empty margarita glass for the entire time the food was on the table. The waiter never even acknowledged he saw it. Horrible service! And the same night the chicken in my quesadilla was hard. Like it had been cooked refrigerated then microwaved for WAY too long. I'll stick with La Altena. It's closer the food is better the people are nicer and the margaritas are better.

Amigo's is okay Mexican food. Service is fast, but they're also big fans of turn and burn tables. So if you expect the servers to take anytime explaining what is what, you're going to be out of luck. The food is decent, and you can get a 32oz beer for $3.
