Machiavelli's is a great local bar, restaurant, and place to find good music of all kinds. The food is freshly prepared and the beer selection is great with frequent updates. The staff is friendly and Bill the bartender knows his stuff! He'll never steer you wrong on beer recommendations. And if you like something a bit stronger, ask him about a "Land's End."

Had a fantastic serving of Italian Nachos in this beautiful place. The owners are friendly and the service is impeccible. I would recommend it to my friends.

We were driving through and stopped here for dinner. It was a Sunday night and busy but not overly so. We were seated at 6:30pm and ordered soon after since we were traveling with a very hungry 3 year old. We ended up waiting for almost an hour and a half for our food that never came and eventually left. The waitress came to check on us ONCE and apologized for the wait. Never came back, never offered us any appetizers or anything to compensate for the extremely lengthy wait time. So as far as food goes, I have no idea what it tastes like because we never got it. Prices seemed high for pizza but okay for "gourmet" pizza. Service was TERRIBLE!! Also, we had a seat we a clear view of the kitchen. Kitchen seemed very unorganized and dingy. I wouldn't go back and would definitely not take young children there!

Machiavelli's is a sub-par restaurant masquerading around as something that it is not. I have had better food and service at a Waffle House off the interstate. The business is poorly run and the management is a joke. The bartender was inadequately educated in the art of mixology. I was perplexed at his inability to make a simple vodka soda. The owner/ manager seemed "too busy" to be bothered with the underwhelming appeal of the restaurant. If this is the best of superior dining and culture in Bristol, Tennessee....no thank you. I will say one thing about Machiavelli's; it did afford me with astonishment and conjecture about how people can be so unaware and bluntly low rent. Next time I want to hear a bunch of red-necks mindlessly speak their uneducated opinion, I will just head down to the Wal-Mart. Needless to say, I would rather eat at some hole-in-the-wall than the cataclysm that is Machiavelli's. I will not be waisting my money until someone gets a clue about how a business is to be run.

Really happy! Found this place on Yelp and all you Yelpers did not disappoint. The Italian food here rivals what we find on the East Coast. I had the Pasta Fagioli which was rich in a tomato broth, over flowing with meat and vegetables and with the right amount of pasta. My kids had Pasta and sauce.....but it was not a run of the mill sauce....well seasoned! A proper marinara! Wife had pasta and mushrooms in a light sauce.....none was left in her plate! Well done Machiavelli's. Service and staff were very friendly as well!

This particular pizza place is located off the beaten path on the Tennessee side of State Street. Inside is clean the servers are very friendly and the places often open late on the weekend to serve the bar crowd. Open sometimes until 4 AM specially in the summertime it is the only place to get food in Bristol on a Friday and Saturday night. The menu is shortened for the bar crowd limited to pizzas and hoagies. I would recommend the pizza. Sometimes this place especially at nighttime can be pretty pricey for simple items.

Very relaxed place, delicious food! Was in town on a business trip and looking for somewhere local and good. Had the manicotti and loved it, my coworker had the Mediterranean pasta. Service was a little slower but there was a huge private party going on while we were there so it was expected. Definitely recommend.

Easily my favorite restaurant in Bristol (both TN and VA). I'll admit, I'm a fan of pizzarias that offer kind of non-standard topping choices (spinach, artichoke, etc.). That and I just really enjoy not only their pizzas, but every single dish (hummus, etc.) I have had from here has been extremely good. Also, being a beer connoisseur, I don't see how anyone could help but love the place. Not only to they have a pretty darn good selection (both on draft and in bottle), but they are very open to looking into acquiring recommended beers. If you are a skip-to-the-end kind of person, then here you go. Go to Machiavelli's. Now. And tip well. :-)

While we didn't indulge in the pizza offerings (tempting), Machiavelli's was a welcoming refuge for two weary travelers who just arrived ravenous from the 5 hour drive from Nashville. The place was packed with imbibers especially since it was a Friday night with some tented street festival going on right outside the door. We made the drive to Bristol for the Gentleman of the Road festival so this was a welcome surprise. Once we sat down to a table, a friendly server dropped off some menus and took our drink order. Red wine served in plastic cups with a bit of Tom Petty on the jukebox made me smile but the Greek Salad ($7) and Sun Dried Tomato Hummus served with tortilla chips ($6) were satisfying. They were nice enough to split the servings for us too. Service was efficient and consistent. The crowd was definitely snockered but fun and my only regret is that I didn't order a pizza... TIP: Make your own pizza selections and an appealing lunch menu were on the menu. Prices were affordable too.

Food and atmosphere is good. The Prince Pizza and Italian Nachos are excellent. The prices are a little on the high side, but not enough to keep me from going back.

Good appetizers and make ur own pizza selections. Started w/the spinach cheese appetizer which was delicious. Created our own pizza w/pesto, sausage, anchovies, smoked gouda. The crust is different - like a cracker almost. Contrasts the toppings quite nicely. Also got the dessert, a creative pumpkin cake covered in chocolate icing w/tootsie roll stem. Great servers who are attentive and helpful. Fun environ with live band.

Don't judge this restaurant based on appearances. Go inside and eat. Go beyond the pizza menu!!! I've had the pizza and it is quite good. I have been to Machiavelli's several times in the past few weeks both during the week before a fly tying class with a friend and Friday night with my wife. The outward appearance is one of bar food. That is not the case. The food is quite good and the wait staff is very responsive and will talk to you as much as you talk to them. We had the manicotti and the lamb bolognese with goat cheese special. The sauce on both was excellent and the goat cheese really set off my dish. Now for the encore. The dessert presentation was totally unexpected. Keep in mind this is a bar like atmosphere. We were always to full on food, beer or wine to order dessert but last night had the taramisu and black Russian cheese cake. Both were great and beautiful. This is probably one of my favorite restaurants in the area.

We were excited to learn about a highly rated Italian restaurant in Bristol. With my wife and in-laws in tow I headed off one cool October evening. Ambience was nice. Staff was remincent of the weather outside - cool. Food was unimpressive but not bad. Overall we all were disappointed. I doubt we will return. If you visit and find it better, please write a detailed review.

This is only regarding the bar and giving 3 stars because I'm still in such shock that Bristol has some bars now. I was there over the Christmas holiday. I found myself very surprised at the minimal amount of beers they had. I'm use to bars in Charlotte having lots of beer options, some bars having up to 200 different beers to choose from. Hopefully their beer lists will continue to expand. Unfortunately there wasnt a band the night I was there also.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
