Unbelievable food. I cant stress how fresh and well done the appetizers and dinners were. The cocktail selection and craft beers could use a boost but that shouldn't detract from the menu selection. The fried tomatoes are fantastic and the river mussels were amazing. I had the Shrimp and Grits and my wife had the Mushroom Ravioli and the were both fantastic. It doesn't look like much from the outside but inside has a very comfortable setup and the food is fantastic.

This is my very first review about a place, because I'm usually too lazy. I took my girlfriend here on Valentine's Day and it was AWESOME. We both loved it. I started with the chicken tortilla soup and it was delicious. She got a salad with goat cheese, bacon, and maple vinaigrette and it was better than my soup. For the main dish I got the surf n turf. The steak was cooked perfectly, the lobster tail had this immaculate butter, the asparagus was perfect, and the potatoes came with this caramelized onion drizzle that was to die for. I licked the plate. She got a pork chop that was awesome too. For desert we got this chocolate strawberry cake thing (sorry I forget the name) that was super sweet but perfect to split. The waitress was super nice, and the drinks were what I would expect to pay (9 bucks for a vodka tonic with absolut). With my meal, hers, 4 drinks, starters, and desserts my check came to 106 dollars. Worth every penny. Everybody needs to check this place out!!!!

I've eaten here three times and it's been solid each time. It's great place for rating at the bar

I like it. It's something different in Brentwood. It's dimly lit and quaint inside, and has more tables in a medium space than the store-front size would indicate. I've been here three or four times and have always been seated promptly and waited on quickly. Service is good, with well-informed servers who know the menu and talk-up the specials a bit. They seem to care, which is nice. The food I've had is pretty good, but to be fair, not amazing in any way. It meets my expectations from the setting, the menu, and the price-point, and I mean this as a compliment, not a detraction. I think Wild Iris is a good change up for a lighter lunch, like a soup/salad. They do have heavier entrees, but I don't think I've ever tried them - not what I'm looking for here.

A metal twist tie, and barely an apology. I've been dining at the Wild Iris for a long time. It's quaint and I love meeting my clients there. Their service is ok - sometimes I feel like I'm an annoyance to the servers. BUT their food is amazing. It's the food that keeps me coming back. Yesterday I almost swallowed a metal twist tie (from a loaf of bread) that was in the first bite I took of my grilled cheese sandwich. I told the server, and she took my meal off my bill, but I barely got an apology. I was shocked that the manager/ owner never came to my table to apologize. In fact, the server acted like it was no big deal. Swallowing a metal twist tie would have been a very big deal - I think I've had my last visit to the Wild Iris after this experience. So disappointing.

Enjoyed our meal and experience very much. The owner of the restaurant attended to us and was delightful and helpful. We are new residents of Nashville and are happy to find such great good close to home. Highly recommend.

Great Restaurant Week Deals! You will need your GPS to find this place. It is located in a strip mall and not very easy to see. We dined here during restaurant week and I obviously made the best food choices. Compliments to the chef on the wonderful meal. We started with veggie spring rolls for our appetizer. The main event for me was the hangar steak in a mushroom demi sauce with roasted garlic mashers and asparagus. The steak was so tender it just melted in your mouth. I don't consider that an easy task for steak. Dessert was chocolate torte and it was as delicious as the rest of our meal. So why 4 stars if the food was that great? The staff could use some improvement. Maybe they were very busy due to restaurant week. The person that brought the food slid my husband's plate on the table and then mine. No smile, no eye contact. Deliver the food and run. They weren't that busy yet. It was 5pm after all. Our waiter seemed nice enough. He smiled but he seemed as if he were struggling with the tables in our section. Maybe he was just nervous or new. He broke the stem off the wine glass at the table next to us when he set it on the table. He cleaned it up and laughed it off and the people at the table weren't mad so I guess all was good.

Came here with a friend for dinner. The service was very fast and friendly, my friend loved the fact she could drink the water here. I am really lucky to have found this gem right next to my house in Brentwood. The inside is amazingly decorated I will save that for wintee though because we decided to sit at a table outside. Within a few minutes of ordering the appetizer was out, and right after was the dinner. If you are looking for some clean quality food, without paying a very high price I would highly recommend this place!

This place is a bonified "meh." Seems like the 50+ crowd might like this restaurant. The wine was great, food not so hot. The cheese plate was nothing spectacular and the shrimp risotto was not what we thought- it was like fried shrimp- where was the risotto?! I had the filet, which was overcooked, but the potatoes were great. Dessert was nothing memorable. So many options in Nashville- don't waste a date night here!

I visited here for a light dinner tonight. So, I didn't get the pork chop or the grits that other yelpers have raved about - just keep that in mind here. I did order the watermelon salad and mushroom ravioli (Yelp's menu is not updated). They started off with good bread and a balsamic/oil/cheese mixture. Then to the salad - watermelon, tomatoes, almonds, cheese and greens in a very light vinaigrette. It was...meh. I found myself hunting for the almonds/cheese and didn't finish it. And for me not to finish something, is profound. Next up was the mushroom ravioli - zucchini and yellow squash with kale, tomatoes and ravioli. The ravioli were served in a heirloom "pomodoro" which was not sauce, but soup - water and tomatoes. I'm not usually so picky - but this was seriously ravioli submerged in tomato water. It lacked any real flavor or complexity. I was hoping the ravioli themselves would makeup for the mistake, but they were...meh. good mushroom flavor but no redeeming qualities for the dish. Again, didn't finish this one. The service. As others have stated, the guy with the beard is great and super friendly. Unfortunately he wasn't my waiter. I walked in and after a minute had to ask the bartender if it was a seat yourself situation. Then bearded guy wiped down my table and took my drink order. My waitress eventually came over and never introduced herself. I was (or felt) rushed and looked over the entire time. I didn't find out her name until I got the check. The restaurant was doing a good business, but not packed. There was no comment/mention when I left both my salad and entree half eaten and no refilled drink (it was tea!). Overall, a very poor experience from both the service and food aspect. I want local places like this to succeed but I found myself wanting to react like Gordon Ramsay in Kitchen Nightmares (ABC Baking episode).

Last night I think I had one of the best meals I have eaten in Nashville thus far. The Cider Brined Bone In Pork Chop, was amazing and exactly what I wanted!! The pork chop was well cooked and not dry at all and was amazing when I dipped it in the mustard jus. The sweet potato and onion hash was well balanced and savory and perfect with the chop. The parmesan brussels sprout slaw was tangy and wonderfully paired with the meal. The meal was the perfect size and just all around terrific. The Wild Iris was not on my list of places to go, but my friend suggested it and it was awesome. The place is small and unassuming in a strip mall, but its certainly a hidden treasure. It would be a great place for a date. Its ambiance is candlelit, quite, and oddly kind of romantic without the feeling of trying too hard. Our waiter was nice and never hovered. Basically my experience was great and I would have licked my plate, but that would be unladylike like, so I decided against it.

Came here for Restaurant Week 2014. We really enjoyed the food and the outdoor patio. The Bread pudding was good, but I was so full that it was too much (my fault though). The food was great, especially the quinoa fritters!! The only complaint and reason for 4 stars instead of 5 was the service. Our waitress was a bit rude. I would still go back, but I would request a different waiter

Yum! I woke up this morning and thought, "that meal was so good I've gotta Yelp!" I hadn't been to Wild Iris for a few years. Not sure why, but we thought of it last night. We called a couple of friends at the last minute and they joined us. We waited at the bar, my date looking for a more interesting beer than was available, had a Fat Tire. That's really the only complaint I have for this review, is that the beer selection is a little drab. We had quite a variety of dishes at our table, scallops for my girlfriend, chicken for her husband, shrimp and grits for my boyfriend and I had what had to be the best choice, rainbow trout. The trout was perfectly browned in a dusting of crusty cornmeal and presented on a bed of a beautiful bed of dark greens with vinegar for a nice bite. It was an entree to finish, but I couldn't hold it all! Everyone at the table was happy with their choice. For wine, we went with the Justin cab, which paired well enough for everyone. Our server (who was excited to let us know that the scallops had only just arrived at 5:00 p.m.), was friendly and attentive, giving us time to decide and to linger after, even though we ordered no dessert or after dinner coffees, etc. We split the check two ways and stayed just under $100, which is always our Friday night goal. I suppose one could pick on such a place for having such fine food and such minimal furnishings. Maybe someday they'll spring for a redecorating, but for now, go because you appreciate fresh fish, meats and vegetables, prepared with creative panache by a chef who can imaginatively combine ingredients without getting goofy over whatever is 'trending'. Buon appetito! Bravo!

Had the privilege of eating at the Wild Iris with my dinner club last night. Was in an odd spot but was very impressed. I had the Shrimp and Grits. Throughly enjoyed it. Grits had a lot of flavor. Great atmosphere and the waitress was very attentive to our large party. Will have to go back and try their skillet chicken and the pecan salmon. Both looked fantastic.

We had an awesome dinner here last night on Valentine's day. Even though they had a couple of specials on the menu, we ordered entrees that they have on a regular basis: Lamb shank and salmon. I'll start off by saying the salmon was cooked perfectly, very moist and just slightly underdone in the center, the way I really think Salmon should be cooked. It was served with a very good wild rice and carrot pilaf and the pecan crust on the salmon was light and thin but just enough to give it a nice little crunch. Despite the salmon being great, the lamb shank was the highlight. HUGE piece of fall-off-of-the-bone-tender meat. SO GOOD. And served over farro with roasted winter veggies including parsnips, sweet potatoes, pearl onions and a couple others. The atmosphere here is great: dimly lit, not too loud, but still very lively yet sort of romantic for a date. The service is excellent. The food is delicious, fairly priced, and the portions are very substantial. I can't believe it took me four years of living in Nashville to try this place, but I'll definitely be back and I have a feeling we will both be ordering the lamb shank even though I would like to try everything else on the menu!

YES! Service was perfect. A very special meal. We showed up very early for dinner...about an hour before our reservation. No problem. After we sat down, my wife said she wanted to eat outside. No problem. Nobody acted like we were putting them out to move a couple of menus. Our waiter, a younger guy with a long beard whose name I can't remember, was awesome. He was there when we needed him, gone when we didn't. We had lots of questions about the menu and he answered them like he could have prepared each dish himself blindfolded. I'd tell you to ask for him, but the other waitress was similarly accommodating to the table next to us. We started with the mussels, which were perfect. Not over-seasoned or swimming in some heavy sauce...they were just right. Simple, elegant. I had the shrimp and grits and my wife had the Sambar. They were both amazing. Interesting preparation on both, but not weird for the sake of being weird. Tastes that you might not put together on your own but just went together perfectly. Then there was the chocolate bread pudding. Wow. One of the better desserts I can remember having. And again, though there were several tastes in the bowl, they didn't fight. It wasn't like they just a sugarbomb of decadence....it was thought-out. Special. Don't let the location fool you; it is just stuck in a strip mall. The service, the food, the whole experience..it was absolutely 5 stars. We will definitely be back.

Wild Iris provided a nice intimate setting for my small group meal. We started with the cheese plate while we agonized over the menu on which everything sounded great. The cheese and fruits were good, though more non-blended cheeses would have balanced out the flavors. I ordered the tenderloin, which was cooked perfectly. It came on a good bed gnocchi. They have a good wine list of moderate and high priced wines to wash down the food. Our server was prompt and attentive and knew when to stop to check on us and when to let us dine in peace. The ambiance was just right for conversation. Prices are moderately high but the service and quality mean you'll enjoy the meal without regrets.

We had reservations and were seated upon arriving. The waitress was great giving us time to look at the menu while bringing us our drinks and bread. The bread wasn't warm and not as fresh as I would have liked. I ordered the tenderloin which was cooked to perfection. I also ordered a salad which was okay but skimpy. The potatoes were undercooked, cold and I had three green beans on the plate. Overpriced and very small portions. We will not return as there are too many great restaurants in the area.

Probably the worst meal Ive had in quite awhile. I ordered the Arugula salad which was fine. For my entree I first ordered the Low Country Bouillabaisse. Seriously vile. The presentation was in appealing complete with a bright orange unidentifiable 'sauce' streaked through the middle. It was luke warm at best and the fish tasted uncooked. Couldn't see it to tell because of the dim lighting. I sent it back immediately. The server was kind and generous and brought me the menu to choose something different. I ordered the Half pan seared Chicken. Im pretty sure it was undercooked. But the worst part was how salty it was. It was not worth the $50 i spent.

If I could give a zero, I would. From the unattentive service staff to bland food, I cannot recommend. The only positive is that they tripped over each other to please the regulars at the next table. They aren't out to build the base. Hard to believe they are associated with Yellow Porch - which I love.

We went to this charming little restaurant for the first time last night because we had heard others say how good it was for a few years. When we walked in the place seem to have a comfortable atmosphere however the food left something to be desired. We ordered mussels as an appetizer to share with the table. They came out with absolutely no flavor. Very disappointing. Then I ordered a fish I had never hear of before. Our waitress described it as being like sea bass and it was served on a bed of lobster risotto. How could that be bad....right? Wrong, the fish was nothing like sea bas , a thin filet of something and the risotto was not risotto at all but pearl couscous. There was a few small pieces of lobster in it but even that was tough. We ordered 2 drinks and they were $20.00 a piece. So food not good, overpriced drinks and service so-so. Will not be back.

Second visit and both the service and food were exceptional. My wife loved the chicken and she's a tough critic. I had the pork-chop, which was cooked to perfection. An older crowd so table conversations were low, no cell phone yelling and no posers - a civilised restaurant for civilised people.

I really enjoyed the food here. I went with coworkers one night and the atmosphere was great for the situation. The food was a seasonal fall menu. I had the porkchop. We all had dessert as well. Excellent. I found this place because of Yelp and I'll continue the recommendation.

We dined here on a weekday night and had a very pleasant experience. We sat on the patio and the ambiance was quaint and charming; albeit in a strip mall. Our waitress was adorable and gave me a compliment - so I loved her. I ordered the trout special and it was delicious. He had the halibut and it was wonderful. I appreciated the large wine glasses - brings out the flavor. Elegant, a little pricey, but intimate and quite lively with the right crowd. Small bar. Very nice neighborhood restaurant in the middle of Brentwood. I will go again next time I venture south of Davidson county!

It pains me to give such delicious food a three star review but there were some major hindrances preventing me from enjoying the food to its fullest potential. We showed up for our reservation and were seated, which was the start of our issues. We were right by a window on a chilly Franklin night which to most folks would mean one should turn up the heat. However, it seems that most of the crowd consisting of peri-menopausal women were enjoying the kiss of cold just fine. Also, I was seated on the bench extending along the wall and found that the padding needed a little TLC. My hubby's chair also did not provide much posterior protection. He joked about getting those little personal cushions that one uses at sporting events out the car. I wished that I had taken him up on his offer for I was quite sore by the end of the meal. Our waiter came to take our drink order. My husband ordered an Old Fashioned while I stuck with a water much to the chagrin of our waiter who couldn't hide his judgemental expression. Maybe he was having a rough night. Suddenly, we hear what we think is the heating unit kick on, but soon to our shock and horror our table is engulfed in gale force cold air. Our jackets come back on as we brave the elements. We should have ordered shots to warm up. I see your ploy, waiter - well played. We were super ecstatic to get our soup order and have something replenish our warmth. Roasted garlic and tomato - yum and beef burgundy - yum. We will definitely try to replicate the roasted garlic at home. Sadly, our soups were gone and I now realized that my toes were going numb though I was not sure if it was the wretched seat pinching a nerve or the arctic air mass that had settled onto our table. Our entrees arrived - mushroom stuffed ravioli and chicken dish. Though there were only four raviolis swimming in that lovely cream sauce they were plenty big enough to leave me satisfied at the end of the meal. Our waiter who had perked up over the course of the meal brought us the check. We promptly paid and thawed ourselves off in the car. Great food, just remember to bring your own seat cushion and a parka on chilly evenings.

No people...step back from the 4 and 5 star reviews and sober up. This is NOT where you want to be dropping your cash. I met a friend here who LOVES the place, but I can only assume she means she loves it compared to driving across the street to Sonic, because EWWW. They set up is okay....cute bar thing but super uncomfortable wooden chairs and, um, did anyone tell you that you will be dining in a strip mall? On the plus side, you can renew your auto insurance in the same line of stores by hitting up your State Farm agent. The food was super uninspired and we got a crab dip to share that looked like someone pulled it out of a Kroger refrigerator section. It was flipping orange. Why? And, um, don't most crab dips come with CRAB in them? Yeah....not in this place. The wine has about a 100% markup and wasn't stored well (at all), This is clearly some sort of compromise for the good folks of Brentwood who don't want to go the extra 15 minutes downtown to eat, but really, go the extra 15 minutes kids.

I would recommend the Pan Seared Chicken Marsala if you want something that is healthy. I wasn't too excited about it because it was my birthday dinner and I wanted something with more calories because as we all know calories don't count on your birthday! I really regretted my order especially after sampling my boyfriend's Spice Brown Sugar Glazed Bone in Pork Chop. Uh yum! I'm going to try and convince him to take me here for dinner soon so I can order that. Because it was my birthday I had dessert and I made everyone else order something too! I had the creme brulee, my boyfriend had the chocolate tart, and my boyfriend's brother had the tiramisu. My creme brulee was luxuriously smooth. I was so glad I got to end my birthday dinner with it. The chocolate tart was very chocolatey and came with a very yummy whipped creme. It was an appropriately small portion. The tiramisu was also yummy. It was more of a dry tiramisu. The flavor was perfect.

Went to Wild Iris during restaurant week which is why I gave 3 stars. If the service and food are the same during non-restaurant week times, it gets 2stars. They had booked way too many reservations and our party of 5 was very crowded at a table meant for 4. And we had a reservation so I was surprised when we were seated at such a small table. RW menu was for 2 courses out of 3: you could have an entree with either an appetizer or dessert. Food was average at best. noise level thru the roof and I really hated that I had to walk through the food service area to get to the ladies room. Not a place I will return to.

We actually live within a mile or so from Wild Iris. It took us awhile to actually try it because we couldn't believe there would be a place so close to us that was so good. It's AMAZING. We go at least once a week. The food is always fresh and prepared by one of the best chef's in Nashville. They will customize anything you want. Friendly staff, great wine list, and super atmosphere. The best place in Brentwood for dinner.

This is one of my favorite spots in Brentwood! Whether you wish to stop by for a cocktail or glass of wine after work, or enjoy a wonderful creatively prepared meal - this is the place to try. The Wild Iris has a neighborhood feel and small but relaxed seating area. The bar and the dining area are very close to each other and it can be two different worlds with the bar becoming loud and the dining area attempting to enjoy their meal over quiet conversation. During warmer weather, the small sitting area outside is also an option. The staff is very friendly and attentive and many of them have been there for years. Each day there are special entrees to choose beyond the standard menu (which changes periodically). Pastas, Seafood, Beef and Pork are usually the standard fare with unique and tasty sauces and glazes enhancing the presentation.

Incredible neighborhood dining. We managed to make it on a night when they had fresh scallops on special. The menu was incredibly diverse from flavors. to dishes. Service(will) and food was near perfect. Beef tenderloin was prime with a blue cheese risotto. Scallops with a pumpkin sauce and roasted butternut squash was cooked perfect. And fried green tomatoes w/marscapone was a 10. Would make the drive just to eat here again

1st off I have quite simple taste and this is not a simple place. We had a business dinner last night and I was in tow. The Menu: Maybe 10 entrees: half were salmon or trout. The special was something that I had never heard of. The food: House cab was nice - They use really big glasses, which gives the perception that there is very little wine....Why???? Calamari was soggy Salad -way too much feta!!! Chix Pasta was very good with a nice smoke flavor! Maybe a great place just not my style, certainly would not be back on my dime.

This is one of the best little restaurants in the Nashville area. It's owned by the same people who own Yellow Porch, with a different chef and wait staff. They have many different things on the menu to satisfy most palates (chicken, fish, steak, salads, etc) and every night the chef features at least one special. Also the manager loves wine so the wine list is fantastic. Amy is a wonderful bartender and will mix any drink you ask for to perfection- and will even make her own simple syrup for a mojito if you bat your eyelashes at her a bit. :) Casual fine dining is a great way to describe this place. You can have a fancy date night or a laid back meal without feeling out of place either way. You've gotta check it out!

Stopped in here for lunch with my mom and was pleasantly surprised! Service and food was very good. I had some yummy meatloaf with asparagus potato hash(lots of salt...people with high blood pressure beware) and my mom had a delicious grilled veggie wrap(Hummus, Quinoa, Feta Cheese, Zucchini Slaw, Arugula and a Black Olive Tapenade). Their lunch menu consists of mostly wraps and salads, but most of them are interesting enough that it would give you lots of options to debate. Martinis were good and the banana pudding cheesecake for dessert was AWESOME! I'm looking forward to trying the dinner menu some time. I would definitely recommend trying it.

Not as good as in years past, service has fallen off of late. May strike from fav list unless they can regroup.

(5)Patricia P.
The food here is excellent. The staff is always extremely courteous and polite. They let you linger, you don't feel rushed, even at lunch. Cannot wait to go here again.
(5)Sasha T.
(3)Bob M.
Waiter was AWFUL!!!!! I find no saving grace to the place in this day and age. Salmon was tough. Salad stale. Bread dry and fit for K rations. Spend your money elsewhere. We wont b back.
