I met a couple of friends for lunch at the Sportsman's Grille. I had never been here before but the staff were very friendly and the lodge atmosphere is awesome. It's a little more expensive than I normally sped for lunch but the good was very good. I'm sure I will be back.

I have no complaints about this place! Good: Food was outstanding! I had the blackened pork chop, with loaded mash potatoes and garlic bread...so Damn good I should've went back to the kitchen and slapped the cook! It was cooked perfectly, done on the inside yet still had it's juices and flavor. Waiter staff were friendly and fast! Will be back!!

I guess this was destined to be a bad day. My family was in town for a funeral so not great to start. It was a long day so everyone went back to their hotel and crashed. We decided for a late dinner at Sportsman's Grill, even made reservations. We have eaten there several times before so we knew what to expect. We arrived and were seated promptly, given menus then waited, and waited, and waited. I finally got up to track down a server...many apologies and our drink order was taken, then our real server came over, more apologies and our food order was taken. I got the pork chops, everyone else burgers (they have good burgers). My wife ordered steamed broccoli with her burger. In the many years I have known my wife she has never sent back food - she asked for a new order of broccoli because it was so salty she could not eat it, and she really likes salt. A few minutes later the waiter brought back the broccoli and dropped it in my lap (I am sure, I hope, it was an accident). Many more apologies and a towel to clean up and a promise for free ice cream for everyone at the table. I am not one to go in looking for a comped meal but in this case, given the cumulative service I would have expected at least my wife's meal to be taken care of and not offered the least expensive desert on the menu. With the exception of the over seasoned broccoli the food was good, I just feel that something more should have been done given our collective experience.

This place was a fiasco from the beginning. We called days ahead with a large group from our kids' sports team for Saturday night. We called ahead the day of as well to assure that we could be seated between 7-7:30. We even pre-ordered our meals by jersey number. When we arrived at 7:10 we were told that they had no record of us calling and that OUR phone had been disconnected. They found a way to seat us very promptly but told us that they didn't have our order. OK no problem. We then proceeded to order based on jersey number as we have 3 kids with the same name on the team. We were told we could not do that and we would be doing it their way. When we were trying to work out our orders our team leader stated that they could do things the way the restaurant sees fit. The waitress replied that "I don't care I really don't have to wait on you anyway". Seriously!!?? I have never been treated so rudely in any restaurant. I've only been to Nashville a couple of times but somebody needs to let these guys that there are A LOT of fantastic restaurants in the area. Can't comment on the food because we walked out and I have never ever walked out of a restaurant before because of rude service.

Disgusted with this place, advertised to be open till 11:00, called ahead and let them know I would be bringing a crowd of 30 by 9:30 and asked if they could stay open a little late. Waitress said they certainly could. We showed up at 9:35 with 30 people in the parking lot and I walked in to see where they would like us to be seated. The bartender let me know that he had decided to close early as it had not been a busy night and had already closed the kitchen. We let him know food was not of importance, we mainly were coming for drinks since it was a large crowd of friends who were all from out of town. He then let us know he would serve us a single round of drinks, but he was going to close regardless. We let him know we would certainly tip well and he responded that we could tip him in advance and he may allow us to have two rounds. At this point we decided that we had met the one bartender too lazy to actually care about tips, so we left. We went over to Losers another local bar and had a great time for hours. Certainly disappointed in our experience and can not believe an owner would allow that level of disregard for a large group of paying customers.

We usually take out of town guests here because of unique atmosphere, generally good food, and usually very good service. Every once in a great while service may be lacking and food is just "OK", but I think that happens with every restaurant. I just wish we could get a large size beer(of any brand) without having to get one of those awful fishbowls that weigh a ton and melt ice all over the table... I just order Guiness to get a pint glass. We will keep on going unless things change.

A definite go-to for salads and sandwiches. The kitchen is always quite fast, so it's a particularly great place for lunch. I usually get a salad, such as the salmon salad, but don't let the fact that I get the salads make you think that I'm at all demure in my food choices: The salads are massive and make for a great meal. Their dressing--a balsamic-type concoction--is quite delicious. They ordinarily have great specials too (read: grilled shrimp with avocado). In fact, this place has some of the best salads in the area. The ambiance is a sort of Rocky Mountain ski lodge. It's sort of dark, but not too bad. It's a nice feel. The service has never been too outstanding. We'll say average. Overall, though, it's a great spot.

Another early Saturday meal with no wait. Draft 2 for 1 happy hour until 6pm. The pan fried grouper was fantastic. Great meal again.

Quiet on a Monday evening. Great service. Cajun Seafood Chowder is a delicious meal by itself....lots of tasty chunks of fish, shrimp & more. Rest of dinner party enjoyed their steaks & kabobs.

It's been a couple years since we came here last; had lunch here today and the service was great! I wish I could remember our waitress' name because I would definitely ask for her again. She was super attentive but did not interrupt conversations. My favorite menu items are the Steak&Biscuits or the Chicken&Biscuits and their fried pickles, yum! Love the big fireplace and overall "warmth" of the place on a cold wintery day!

One of the best burgers in Franklin!

I had the bbq platter w/ wings, ribs and pulled pork sandwich on cornbread and my friend had the bbq platter with ribs and chicken breast. Our portions were generous and very reasonably priced. The food was very good. I thought the sandwich options were overpriced.

Great place to eat or grab drinks. They have Bass beer on tap, which for me is a huge plus! Good food as well!

I liked this place a lot. I went with a colleague who is a regular and got some guidance on the pan fried grouper which he had picata and I had blackened. Crisp on the outside, moist and tender on the inside. I loved the fried pickles (burp, excuse me). The place is like a hunting lodge, very cozy and laid back. Great menu, excellent prices, simple, well-prepared and high quality fare. What, may I ask, is wrong with that?

This place was kind of a whirlwind.. The wife have driven by MANY times on the weekend and it appears to be absolutely packed. So when a friend from out of town wanted to meet for dinner in the area, I figured this would be a great option. We showed up and were promptly seated, as about 70% of the place was empty (6.30 on a Wednesday night). We had a couple drinks and an appetizer of dill pickle chips... The dill pickle chips were pretty good and some of the better ones we've had down south so far. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich on a bun; don't judge me for not getting the cajun cornbread, I'm watching my figure. The wife got a bacon cheeseburger and my friend the tuna sandwich... I wasn't impressed with the pulled pork as it was luke warm... IF it was warm, it probably would have been decent as it was true pulled pork and not a lump of pork held together with BBQ sauce. The wife said the hamburger was OK and my friend enjoyed his tuna sandwich.... I'd hoped for more after reading the reviews and seeing the packed parking lot. The service was ok, the server wasn't very personable and a bit weird.. We may give it another try, but it'll be on the weekend when the place is packed and hopefully the food comes out warm.. On a side note, this place is a little pricey.... $11 for a below average pulled pork sandwich and fries is a bit expensive, Brentwood or not... $11 for an average hamburger is also a bit expensive in my book.. But I am a bit cheap :)

Wow! What great food! The pork chops were perfection. My hubby had their tortilla soup and loved it. Our waitress was excellent. She explained everything on the menu. She made some Great suggestion on salad dressings! Never thought to mix them before, boy oh boy was it good!

One of my favorite places to go with the family. Fried grouper basket is always good and their beer selection is very good as well.

It surprises me that Sportsman's Lodge doesn't have more reviews. This is the best "themed" restaurant in Cool Springs. The Lodge has a look, feel and smell that is truly spectacular. It's warm and cozy on the inside and while on the inside, I feel like I am thousands of miles away from Cool Springs. It's beautiful. ...and all of that happens before you ever take a bite. The service is good, friendly and professional. I'm a big fan of their salads, and their chicken stir-fry is good. They have daily specials that typically are at a very good price and always tasty. I visited yesterday and got the black & blue cajuin burger. It may have been the best blackened burger I've ever had! I have had many of the daily specials and have liked them all. The food and service are both above average -but the character and ambiance of this place is exceptional. You will feel like you are on vacation at some ski lodge. It's truly beautiful. More restaurants should put that much effort into creating an authentic atmosphere. ....but it is a restaurant, so it's worth going just for the food, too!

Unexpected gem. Best Mahi dish in TN... Guaranteed! Can't wait to try Other specials. Very reasonable. Great value!

I would have given this restaurant at least 4 stars if we had been able to keep the same server we began with. The experience here was seriously like an episode of The Twilight Zone. My boyfriend and I got there a little earlier than the other two we were meeting. Our server was nice and brought our drinks out promptly. Right before our two friends met up with us, he explained that they were rotating tables and that "this young man" would be our new server. The new, younger server joked, "You guys will like me a lot better!" He was DEAD WRONG. Once our friends got there, they ordered waters. It took twenty minutes and two times asking again for him to bring two waters to the table. The first time he wrote our orders down, he did not write mine down. I ordered a cheeseburger. Instead of asking me how I wanted it cooked, he went right to my boyfriend for his order. This server came back at least three times in the following half an hour, rechecking our order because the "computers were acting up." I ordered another beer. It took ten minutes to get to the table. Our two friends received their food first...which is odd because usually they bring everyone's food out at the same time. He asked for a certain side dressing which took 30 minutes to get to the table. My boyfriend received his food 15 minutes later. I received my simple cheeseburger 20 minutes after my boyfriend's food came out. Our server was apologetic but I couldn't even make excuses for him. Our first server (the older gentleman) came over to apologize, saying, "If I had known it would be like this, I would've remained your server. I've changed your bills VERY accordingly and please let me know if there's anything else I can personally do for you." We ended up only paying for our drinks which was nice of course, but honestly deserved. I would understand a little bit of hectic-ness, especially for a Saturday night, but there were no more than 10 tables while we were there. We will probably never go back to this establishment again.

The decor of the restaurant was great, but the service wasn't. The hostess walked to the table very fast and left us far behind. The waitress was nice and kept our drinks refilled but seemed to avoid our table when the food took over a half hour. She said fried shrimp takes a long time to cook. I ordered meatloaf which came out lukewarm. Once it was heated it tasted pretty good. If we would have had good service and warm food, we might go back. The prices are a little high for such a mediocre experience.

We went for burgers and they were great! The wait wasn't bad at all for a Saturday evening at 7pm. We ordered the bourbon bacon burger, the bun was soft and everything was perfect about it. The rustic decor was interesting as well.

Your review helps others learn about great local businesses. Been to SG a couple of times...food's ok...wife never liked it, but it's easy to get into, so. Now, i willl never return. First, while the seats have never been comfortable, now they're worn and riped in places. Still that wouldn't really keep me away. The food, again, was just ok, but being easy to get in outweighed that (for me, wife still didn't want to go it. But it was my birthday lunch). Upon eating something caught my eye. A ROACH! not one of those beetle-type roaches who prefer to be outdoors and mistakenly landed on a passerby and then deposired inside. No. THis was a germany roach. The type that loves indoors. Usually urban apartments, etc. An exterminator friend once told me that if you see one German roach, know that there are 100 that you don't see. Well this ROACH was crawling across the table. UGGGGHHHHH! we plopped our money down and hightailed it out of there. Never to return. Should we have said something...maybe, but we knew that we weren't going to return, so. NEVER AGAIN

Great atmosphere decent food. Gerst House beer in fishbowl mugs. Family oriented large portions.

We'd probably come here more often if we could remember that this place exists, but it's tucked away off the main road and I don't think about it that much. I like the atmosphere. It's like a lodge with lots of wood and hunting themed decor. They have a good menu and most of the food I've had is really good. They cook up some good fish and I love their blackened fish sandwich. I've enjoyed everything I've had here. Friendly service.

Really really surprised the food was really good, place is a cool find. Decor is great.

Best chicken wings in town!! I have NEVER had wings this good. The flavor is honey BBQ and you choose from mild, med or hot. I usually get it med with a side of hot sauce. It's listed as an appetizer but I make it my meal since there's 8 wings and celery. This place has other great food but I am sold on their wings. You will not be disappointed!!

Sunday lunch for five. I'm a repeat visitor to SG, usually going at the suggestion of someone else. Solid lunch spot. Certainly not cheap--total bill including appetizer, tips, not booze, was $95 for five people. Two hamburgers at the table (good burgers and fries), three catfish dinners. Hard to find good catfish around here for some reason, so that we enjoyed that

We walked in around 4:00 PM looking to have a early dinner. There was 2 tables of people eating in the entire restaurant. There was no one at the front desk when we walked in. We waited at least 3 minutes and found no sign of anyone to seat us. Some guy on the kitchen looked at us at one point, but did nothing. After standing around looking for someone awkwardly as the tables of people looked at us we decided to leave and go to a place to eat where good service exists. Not a good way to run a business. If I owned this place I'd reevaluate my management staff. Wow.

I went here for the first time the other day. I'll be back. The food was good and came out quickly. I'm intrigued to try other items in the future. Out waiter, although very nice and apologetic, had no idea what he was doing; little knowledge of the menu and even admitted that he wasn't trained well. He tried his darnedest though, couldn't be too upset. He let us sample dressings and sauces as he could not describe the taste.
