We found Skillet's while trying to avoid chain restaurants, and had a very good experience. Unlike other reviewers, we found one of the owners who waited on us to be very friendly. The food is excellent, abundant, and reasonably priced. Equally impressive was the iced tea for $.99 when so many restaurants gouge customers on drinks. Sorry we don't live closer, but we will stop again when traveling through to visit relatives in Clarksville, TN. The hours of operation are incorrect on YELP. They are M - Th, 11 AM - 7 PM, and F & Sat, 11 AM - 8 PM.

Hate to do it, but I'm going to have to deduct a star. Ever since my first visit I've been looking froward to coming back. I finally made it back today and I was really hoping for a friendlier customer service experience. Nobody has been rude either time but nobody has seemed happy to see a customer either. And on both visits there was an employee eating behind the counter when I walked in. I went with the meatloaf again and it was still very tasty. However, this time I was only given one slice as opposed to the 2 slices I was given last time. Not sure what the deal was with that but I didn't want to ask considering the employee wasn't that friendly and I had already interrupted her eating. I'll probably go back again when I'm craving some good comfort food but if they can't at least pretend to be upbeat and happy to see customers I may just have to learn to make my own meatloaf.

Went here the other day and got a half burger steak and it was pretty good. No complaints at all and the lady was really nice. I'm not a big fan of food that has been sitting being plopped on my plate, but this wasn't bad in any way shape or form.

Decided to visit Skillet's on a Sunday afternoon since it was right up the street. I found out that the restaurant was new and I'm a big fan of "meat and 3's" restaurants. The place is very small with only a few tables so you're better off just getting it to go. If you have a large group of people, you might not have enough room for all of you. The people were just eh...they didnt seem very happy to see new people walk in. The first thing I heard from the staff was, "do you have a to go order?" and she was sitting there eating her food. They guy who served our food wasn't very talkative. I get that a lot of most meat and 3 places. They don't seem to be very friendly. It is what it is. I ordered the ribs, "white beans", turnip greens and mac n cheese. I was so disappointed about the turnip greens. It was missing something but I can't quite put my finger on it. It just tasted funny. The ribs were slightly cold and very fatty, but as far as the taste, it was just ok. I've had better. The "white beans" tastes like everyone elses "white beans" ive ever had, but I was very impressed by the hotwater corn bread and mac and cheese. I've had better food when it comes to a meat and 3. I'm not rushing to make a trip over to Skillet's any time soon, but I'm for certain ill be back someday in the future. I want to try other things and being this place just opened, I can see them getting better and better. If you live or in the the Hermitage area, give it a shot. I'm not shooting the place down as a terrible restaurant, but I've had better.

I have been back since. Food was still every bit as good. Unfortunately, neck bones were not popular so they were taken off the menu and I missed out. I had chicken again - still great. Had mac and cheese as well as greens and the hot water cornbread might have even been better this time. Peach cobbler was wonderful again. And they have added unsweet tea! Consistency is a big thing for me and they are passing with flying colors.
